Yeah issue is that good maugas will kill u as baby fast enough that they can cancel cage and run away so do this only if the mauga sucks or u got some kind of cover to hide behind
its literally impossible for a mauga to deal 175dmg press q and charge far enough for bomb not to one shot lol, even if it was scripted its unlikely to happen
@LightingCatxD I do it everytime and it works everytime , the first you will get a lot of kills but after it's just no mulga no cage that or you send it a little and hit his team and his shield so you save your team as they jump the Mulga who can't run, alot of the times I just literally walk in his face ult and walk back
This is really good. Way fewer of these old school style videos than there were when OW was new. But lots of news players and new interactions, this is really helpful.
18:30 theres a really old overwatch league clip of someone on 3rd point of Gibraltar hiding their dm in the ground then flicking it back to catch a grav. Its a clip i think about often & i love eating gravs but its never intentional 😂
what a great guide! as a support main who has decided to learn dva, this is super helpful! ngl Danny dancing as Ana was a huge moment. i would love to see more of these! super helpful and just enjoyable to watch too
This^ every zarya I encounter bubbles the moment I start shooting, then the second right after that. As long as you wait through their bubbles and then unload on them, it’s game over
Love this style of video, really helpful for everyone from low ranks to honing in your skills. I'd love to see a sigma version, matchups/positions/maps. Also, 11:30 Ana killing it with those moves
I made my own Dva Guide on my Channel because i felt like Dva kinda gets slept on when it comes to guides and i can say i really agree with most of your takes! I would put Doomfist in the 50/50 because dva is so good at peeling for her team and she can eat his shotgun shots even after an enpowered punch. I actually find Sigma to be her worst Matchup and Zarya being alot closer to 50/50 than people think but it really depends on your teammates and if they shoot the bubbles or not. I would love to see you Showcase this type of Guide with Junkerqueen as she kinda falls in the same catergory, where people sleep on her and there are barely any guides out on her!^^
I just started trying to learn dva as a fairly new player and this was super helpful. I'd love to know what maps benefit dva and which ones put her in a disadvantage. Also a suggestion for possible additional content is making a video showing you playing the hero you're making a guide for in which you kind of talk out what you're decision making is as you make them to the best of your ability and giving a quick plug for said video at the end of the guide video and linking it in description.
maps that have a lot of high grounds and off angles are perfect for her. such as numbani, gibraltar, etc. maps like kings row which are more brawly maps are not that great for her.
important caveat to "x map is good for y hero": sometimes heroes will be good on PARTS of certain maps but not all. a great example is numbani 1st and 2nd point vs numbani 3rd. there's a lot of important high ground on 1st and 2nd, but 3rd doesn't. another example is old junkertown where snipers would dominate first point and make life hard on second but wouldn't be AS strong on third. basically, take map specific advice with a grain of salt. something that has been really helping me a lot is really working on analyzing maps and heroes for myself and thinking "ok, here are the heroes I like to play/am working on. what are their strengths? what do they do well that other heroes don't? now, how does this hero play on X map? what does X map have?" doing my own analysis and kind of checking my work, so to speak, against what other people say has been very helpful because it lets me understand the game instead of just memorizing what other people have said. I'm NOT trying to say guides that just tell you this stuff is bad or that memorizing it is bad. I'm just offering the idea that there's also a next step that you can take once you have that foundation because it's a next step I didn't really consider until recently. good luck!! and good luck to me too lmao I need it, I've been struggling quite a bit this season haha
i love this kind of video and hope you do more!! when i want to get better at a hero, i find it efficient and helpful to watch hero specific guides on youtube. i have a hard time finding up to date guides for tanks though, especially compared to how many support specific guides there are online.
I've picked up a lot of Dva tips just from watching your streams. This is really good to help me keep up my awareness and what to look for. Some things I feel I knew, some it was very helpful to have laid out explicitly. I'd love something like this for Junker Queen who's one of my other favorite tanks to play, too!
You are literally my go-to Content Creator when it comes to learning How to Tank. I really enjoyed that video and would like to see more of it. I also wonder if you could include the favored and least favored maps for the tanks because thats something i really struggle with sometimes. Great work and thanks a lot for the guide!
These guides are really nice! Especially as a support-main-turned-tank-main, it's amazing to get these guides to catch up and get a hang of the heroes more easily
i think something that might be nice to see as well is good dva spots on different maps! this can go for other tanks as well like what are some good spots and angels you would wanna hold on the different maps
I love this video so much,. I've been offpicking dva a lot lately and I think doing more of these for other heros is gonna be super helpful, you're one of the only sources online that I trust with hero advice 😭 bc of how funny the fandom thinks it is with misinformation [and also just genuinely not rationally understanding things 💀] I'm really grateful for a video formally talking about thingies like this, ur awesome emongg :]
love this! provides a good idea of how to play against some of those heavy counters, as well as how to make the most out of those favorable matchups. i would LOVE to see junker queen up next !! 👑
The other day I was watching your “how dva is meant to be played” video! I am thankful you made a guide. I would love to see more content/ guides like this. :)
Amazing video! I'd love to see more guides from Emongg on whatever he thinks is important for an Overwatch player to know. More info on Dva could be good too! How to decide who and when to dive, what compositions work well for her, how to play maps, and how to play defensive and aggressive. But my dream vid is Emongg coaching a lower elo player like gold or plat. That would be super informative for me on what I can do to improve and climb as Dva. Thanks for your hard work!
I would highly recommend an ml7 video where he plays a 4v5. it's him + 3 bronze players against 5 gold players, iirc. it's not EXACTLY what you're looking for, ofc, but I recommend it because it has a top 500 player almost live coaching a group of low ranked players in a very suboptimal situation (I mean, its a 4v5, and I also think ml's key bindings are swapped, it was for an svb video I think, long story). and it was just cool to see how he really simplified his call outs to what was actually important vs all the call outs that are helpful to top 500 players, all that good stuff. it might be helpful for you because it was helpful for me! and its just a good video so hey, no harm even if it's not helpful lol
12:43 I used to play a lot of hog into Dva, but in season 9, hooking Dva is a death sentence. Dva now has so much more armor and hog damage is a lot lower. So now, when you hook Dva, she just gets a free kill.
super helpful video emongg!! i love playing dva so thank you for these great tips! it’d be cool if we could see in a future vid which supports or dps work well with dva too! cuz sometimes idk when to play dva if my teammates go certain characters.
Took me a while to get through this, busy busy. Emongg, this was great. High level advice dumbed down so even I can do it, and well-spoken too. Thanks a bunch.
I love the guide, I thinks it's a great video format. You mentioned maps too, I would love to see some map tutorials as well. Just any tutorials are so valuable, thank you!
Absolutely love this style of video from you. Would be super dope to get a sig one but honestly would be hype to see one on any other tanks from you tbh
This was very helpful, especially to someone who is fairly new to learning tank properly. One thing that could also be helpful would maybe be positioning for some of the other tanks? Especially like Sig or Rein, those who don’t have a whole lot of mobility. I would defiantly enjoy other tank videos like this!
Been playing dva a lot in season 9. So many people counter with Zarya but I’ve been trying to just keep the distance and take out her support if she commits to pushing too far from her team. It’s way more difficult to secure a win against her but feels good when I get it. Loved this video for some of the tips against other tanks! I also love playing Sigma, so get that video up if you haven’t already! Thanks!
I would love to see more of these on other tanks. As a dps main that only occasionally plays tank, it's got good information I don't normally see. Another bit of information that can be helpful, is what dps can I play to help support each tank. Counterpicking against the tank is common, so what can I do to counter the enemies counter pick
One more thing to look for when you play against doom: as a doom main, my favorite situation ever is when I know dva has ult I try to predict when she'll use it, when she uses it I follow the baby dva, I can stand very close to the ult knowing it won't kill me if I have my block, then when I see where baby dva will be when her mech blows up, at the last second I block the bomb and immediately punch her out of her re-mech, easily killing her afterwards. So if you wanna ult against doom, make sure he doesn't have his block and that he can't reach you when you try to re-mech
Would love to see and updated version of this video with the newer style of tank since the season 9 changes and the meta shift since. Maybe something more map based than individual tank match ups
Funny how you made this video and I just started playing overwatch after watching you guys for the last year or so 😅 this was super helpful for someone who kinda knows the game but not enough to know how to get value out of cooldowns and not just spam them when they're up. ❤
My dude, I was just complaining to my partner yesterday that no good OW youtubers were making decent tank guides. Plus I'm trying to specifically learn Dva better lately. Good shit. Ramattra next pls.
if i could request one educational video it would be where you like to take the first fight on each map (depending on team comp) & what your goals are for establishing early map control. so if its brawl, rush, or dive, where do you like to try and take the first fight if you can force it, and why, etc etc.
Another tip in a Mirror match up. Don't ult after they ult without a spot for cover when you leave the mech. If they ult after you ult don't re-mech instantly, as you will likely lose your mech straight away to their ult.
i'd like to add a note to the doom matchup, from my own experience... the only really worthwhile way to peel for your team against a doom is to dm his target AFTER he punches them, and here's why: a punch on its own doesn't do a lot of damage, unless the target hits a wall. then, not only are they briefly stunned, they've taken enough damage from the punch and the wall that one or two headshots from his knuckle guns will kill that target - a sort of one-shot combo, not unlike the old hog hook-shot-melee. but if you as dva dm your teammate when they hit the wall, they have a split second while doom is shooting blanks to do whatever they need to and survive. it's not ideal, but i HAVE saved many many teammates this way. edit: ALSO! dva is not a tank! dva is a support with 650hp and a bomb! XDDD
Post Ram buffs, I find it much harder to play against ram than against Zarya. Zar is really easy to avoid, easy to count bubbles and easy to burst down when she doesn’t have them. You can also eat grav. Ram has so much more health and armor, and can block your damage much longer. His punches pierce so you can’t even body block for your teammates. The shield in his base form can also cause you problems whether it’s blocking your damage or cutting off your heals if you try to push through it.
when mauga uses his ult and you have yours you can actually use your ult then and hide behind the mech before it explodes, the damage breaks the cage thing and can damage mauga.
I usually ignore direct tank matchups initially. I either look for someone making a mistake to get the pick or I wait for someone to int in. When they do that I peel and usually get the pick. Once the fight is in my favor I take out the tank. It's worked for me so far lol. Unfortunately with Dva you have to give up space to take space almost like baiting a trap.
As a dps main who's branching into support or a support main that's a Former dps main this doesn't help me a lot but when I wanna play DVA I will try to use the advice
I think queen is bad unless your working with really good high ground, she can peel you off, hard to matrix her, boost away, she’s pretty fast so she can sometimes trade back lines better, and her range is a bit nicer to
this was awesome i loved it! :D if you do another one (which you should this is great) please do Junker Queen next I'd love some help with tank matchups for that character! :D
basically her bad matchups are beam heroes like sym, mei. and anti dive heroes like brig. her good matchups are flyers, shes pretty much the only tank who has a chance against them. also dps character who's ults she can eat or help protect her team from like soldier or cass. also good against spam characters like hanzo and junkrat since she can easily help her team through choke points where they spam. for support- she can deny ana a lot of value with a well placed eat for her nade or sleep.
Does DM block Kiriko's heals as well? I never knew this was possible. Also what is the range, you werent even directly in front of ana as she was healing winston, so it seems the DM just blocks a lot wider of a range than i thought both in front and on your sides
I hope this isn't too pushy because I've said this a couple times in other places, but I will be making a platinum level Sigma guide and posting it on my channel soon.
@@GeneraIRex The more I work on it, the more I think it's a higher level then that lol. I hope you can stop by to give it a chance. (When it's out, obv)
“Next, we have Junker Queen!”
“G’day! :D”
After seeing that I immediately look for a comment XD
“Dvas rockets”
“Hiya ☺️”
Danny dancing as Ana was a highlight ngl
One thing to note, if u get mauga ulted, u can dva bomb for a free kill and deleting the shield since mauga is also chained in
Yeah issue is that good maugas will kill u as baby fast enough that they can cancel cage and run away so do this only if the mauga sucks or u got some kind of cover to hide behind
its literally impossible for a mauga to deal 175dmg press q and charge far enough for bomb not to one shot lol, even if it was scripted its unlikely to happen

I save my bomb against a mauga just for his cage fight lol 😏
This is really good. Way fewer of these old school style videos than there were when OW was new. But lots of news players and new interactions, this is really helpful.
Bcs the game changes so much amd so fast every some months that alot of guides get outdated after merely one or two seasons :/
18:30 theres a really old overwatch league clip of someone on 3rd point of Gibraltar hiding their dm in the ground then flicking it back to catch a grav. Its a clip i think about often & i love eating gravs but its never intentional 😂

my only issue with this video is that ramattra shoots grape nerds, not doritos. great advice otherwise!
Yk I never thought about that.
Grape doritos
@@WhiteW01f you know what ill allow it
No his normal form is fs doritos. His punches are grape flavored
@@ashtonarrington698 I still miss his April Fools Ult line lol
How-to guides is how I learned OW1 but there are hardly any good ones for OW2. Hope you do more!
I love playing dva into zarya and still winning bc counting bubbles. The THINK they can counter me but nah 😤
This^ every zarya I encounter bubbles the moment I start shooting, then the second right after that. As long as you wait through their bubbles and then unload on them, it’s game over

Yo thanks! I’ll check it out when it releases!
Super informative, thanks! Would love a Sigma guide, as well as map guide/positioning/character choice.
if i could request one educational video it would be where you like to take the first fight on each map (depending on team comp) & what your goals are for establishing early map control.
so if its brawl, rush, or dive, where do you like to try and take the first fight if you can force it, and why, etc etc.
Another tip in a Mirror match up. Don't ult after they ult without a spot for cover when you leave the mech. If they ult after you ult don't re-mech instantly, as you will likely lose your mech straight away to their ult.
more please. All your tank picks and the maps for tanks sounds great!

1/3 of the way through the video and Danny is bored and decides to drop those sweet sweet dance moves...
Really helpful guide, would love to see more like this!
i'd like to add a note to the doom matchup, from my own experience... the only really worthwhile way to peel for your team against a doom is to dm his target AFTER he punches them, and here's why: a punch on its own doesn't do a lot of damage, unless the target hits a wall. then, not only are they briefly stunned, they've taken enough damage from the punch and the wall that one or two headshots from his knuckle guns will kill that target - a sort of one-shot combo, not unlike the old hog hook-shot-melee. but if you as dva dm your teammate when they hit the wall, they have a split second while doom is shooting blanks to do whatever they need to and survive.
it's not ideal, but i HAVE saved many many teammates this way.
edit: ALSO! dva is not a tank! dva is a support with 650hp and a bomb! XDDD
This was amazing! I would love to see this for all tanks!

Thank you so much for this video I need more of this pls ❤
id like to see more matchups for dva, like dps matchups and support matchups as well
basically her bad matchups are beam heroes like sym, mei. and anti dive heroes like brig. her good matchups are flyers, shes pretty much the only tank who has a chance against them.
also dps character who's ults she can eat or help protect her team from like soldier or cass. also good against spam characters like hanzo and junkrat since she can easily help her team through choke points where they spam.
for support- she can deny ana a lot of value with a well placed eat for her nade or sleep.
id love one of these for JQ, shes the most fun hero OW released since ana
i recently returned to ow.. i def needed this to de rust my dva skills lmao. good advice will come back if i ever need any more help ❤🔥
This was GREAT! Your Dva game play is just epic!
SIGMA next pleeaase!!🙏
Youre a great teacher!!! Please more guides x
Does DM block Kiriko's heals as well? I never knew this was possible. Also what is the range, you werent even directly in front of ana as she was healing winston, so it seems the DM just blocks a lot wider of a range than i thought both in front and on your sides
great video. would like to see a winston one
So excited to try some of these out!
very informative video, good job and thanks
Make one for Winston please
This was super informative! Can you do one for Sigma?
I hope this isn't too pushy because I've said this a couple times in other places, but I will be making a platinum level Sigma guide and posting it on my channel soon.
@@Madavar_OW No worries! Though I am above platinum so I'm not too confident it's what I'm looking for.
@@GeneraIRex The more I work on it, the more I think it's a higher level then that lol. I hope you can stop by to give it a chance. (When it's out, obv)
Please do as many of these as possible
This was so helpful to learn some things about the other tanks too. Even simple things I have never noticed.
Junkerqueen next please!?
i liked the ana dancing behind orisa
i love how so much hasnt changed
I have 400 hours on dva so I’ve been wanting this for so long
love this guide, thank you
