Dude thank so much for pitting these two together. There was always a great debate between the 10R80 and the Mt-82. I guess everyone can put it to rest after watching this video.
The auto shifts very, very quickly in sport and track mode. In drag mode it shifts enough to chirp the tires 1-2 and 2-3. (3:55s). Very fun auto trans. You also get remote start. The manual in a PP2 car with all that comes with that package A LOT of fun. Apples and Oranges. Six to one.... Half dozen to another.
For cars, auto transmission is better because auto transmission shift faster than manual transmission. Why? Because there are a seconds delay between shifts. If it is a motorcycle, then the manual transmission is better because you use your foot to kick up or down (reverse/invert shifter) faster than the automatic transmission.
Joe, great review, I have a 2019 GT with the auto and standard suspension, I love and own 2 manual cars, but the 10 speed is an amazing transmission and you can manual shift when you want to have fun, the handling is just right, stiff but not a race car, the BEST sports / muscle car I have ever owned. so fast it's frightening!

I have heard owners who bought a 2018 and up Mustang GT with the 6 speed; they kick themselves for not getting the 10 speed auto, because it's noticeably quicker. Is the manual more "fun?" I don't know, what's fun for me is beating the guy next to me! The auto makes that easier. Plus, the first time you're caught in a traffic jam, crawling a few feet at a time, you will be so glad to have the auto.

I didn't buy a Mustang for the screen, and I wasn't willing to spend extra to get a bigger screen. Nope, used that money for custom wheels and a mod to my clutching system. A screen that's good enough, is good enough.

Love your channel and reviews! Just got back from Vegas where I rented a sweet black on black GT with the 10spd for a week: Now I’m a manual guy. Love rowing through the gears in a performance car. Both my current cars are stick, Challenger RT and 03 Mach 1. My sons owned multiple Coyotes all manuals as well so I’m used to driving late model 5.0 w/6spds. That said, the 10 spd auto w direct inj is a friggen blast! Car is always in the power band and the Coyote has a fat power band. Took a trip from Vegas to the Grand Canyon and ripping through those wide open South West highways was so much fun in this car. I’ll wait a few yrs and buy a low mileage used one when the price is a little lower and it’ll definitely be an Auto.
just picked up a 6 speed gt the car is gorgeous and it drives amazing, the only down side the car was modified by the previous owner. They installed a aftermarket shifter and the clutch is getting hard, I wish it was a 10 speed auto. I wasn't going to spend 10 gram more for a automatic, I will be replacing the clutch and shifter to oem then the car will drive like a 10 speed auto, easy to shift and having a smooth clutch and not get tired off pushing hard.
If I had to commute and drive in traffic daily, auto for sure. My 12’ GT is my fun, nice weather car and I’d never drive an auto. Shifting is part of the driving experience, nothing like it!
@@Ramblequist adaptive cruise is available on the manual as well, and that’s for highway cruising, not for rush hour. Like I said, auto is all about going fast straight, and imo will become boring.
@@KenseisGarage Depends on if it's a 2nd car. Anyone having it as their only car that had to drive to work , say in the DC area would be hating life 2-3 hrs a day creeping in 1st and 2nd. Adaptive in an automatic in that mess is better than sliced bread.
🐎💨The Rev-match feature adds so much fun and character that’s signature to the Mustang experience. Having a manual made it easier to follow the recommendations during the break in period. I varied my RPM’s by selecting different gears at cruising speed. Also I avoided full open throttle or bogging the engine down during that period. Other driver aid features such as Hill Assist takes getting used to. It really works but doesn’t feel natural so you must briefly delay your power through efforts as the hold automatically releases.
Magna ride and active exhaust rule. I never appreciated how important how the car sounds is until I got my Bullitt. Exhaust note is legitimately is among the most enjoyable things about driving that thing as silly as it sounds (pun intended).
Basically, it just comes down to can you drive a manual, and are you willing to live with having to shift every gear by yourself, even in heavy traffic. Since I personally don’t have much experience driving a manual (only driven one a few times), I would go with the automatic, as long as it has the paddle shifters
Our local dealer sells more manual than automatic mustangs even though most Mustangs on the lot are automatic. I drive a manual Bullitt and I will not have it any other way.
@@bk138gt6 an awesome machine that is very comfortable to drive, fast, and draws a lot of positive attention vibes. The Bullitt is not the fastest, but is probably the best looking stock Mustang. The exhaust sound is unbelievable for stock exhaust, but GT350 is considered by some to be as good or better. The Bullitt is a cheesy toy car, but it's intended to be that way so it fits my lifestyle well. Use it as a toy/weekend car rather than a daily. A regular GT is a better daily car because it is just as fast and comfortable, but is cheaper. Yes, mine is dark green. A gorgeous color.
nsbioy I own one as well, and I wouldn’t change it for anything else! However the Bullitt has way too long gear ratios for my taste and a rather small gas tank. Well I guess no car is perfect.
Totally agree. I have the Bullitt (Shadow Black) and the only thing I would like to change is the gearing. Going through the gears sure is fun - but you end up going much too fast - much too soon. Would have been more fun with shorter gears. But still - the best car I have owned and I love it 😎
Crush I was moving to a different state and couldn’t afford to keep 2 cars. It was also a base model. If I were to buy it again, I’d go with a PP1, leather and the bigger screen and sunroof. The PP1 adds the 3.73 rear axle, I thinks that’s important because the base comes with 3.55 and with 6 speed, the gears at too tall.
There are more expensive convertibles to choose from, but bang for the buck is the Mustang. If you need 460+ hp fine, but I'm quite happy with 310. After driving several of the 10 speed autos I finally got to drive a manual, and that was that. Searched the net for weeks and and finally found the manual I wanted only 550 miles away. Flew to the dealer and drove the car home. Most convertibles for sale have been rentals or lease cars (there are hundreds of them for sale in fall & winter 2020) and always have the auto. It is very very hard to find a manual unless you order one. I suspect most folks just get the auto because that's what is available. Do an internet search for a 2018-2020 Mustang convertible with manual. Even the cars the net says are manuals; nope, they are usually the 10 speed auto. My local Ford dealer has 26 2020 Mustangs on the lot, no manuals. It is very likely that in the 2022 Mustang the only way you'll ever get a manual is if you order one; dealers are not going to have them in stock.
Maybe it's because I learned to drive on a stick, but I can't imagine driving an auto as my "fun" car. What's the point? Still want an auto for commuting in traffic, though.
Ok, so to be honest, I love driving manuals. Been driving manuals since I was 16. Currently driving a MK6 GTI six speed. Great car, 80k miles and no issues. But I’m 53 and man, I’m getting tired of it. I almost pulled the trigger on a ‘19 GT Premium with the 10 speed auto. Wow, nice engine and transmission combo. But covid-19 hit. I’m still keeping my eye on a GT and if I do buy, it will be auto. Oh, and the Challenger Scat Pack is not too bad either! 🤷🏼♂️
Nice job as always Joe and I’m with you in my 2018 Challenger R/T Scatpack w/ Tremec 6-Speed transmission and Barton short throw shifter! 😎 So much fun to drive! 😆
I would've done the 6-speed in mine, but you don't get to take advantage of a number of integrated tech features (remote start anywhere in the world via the FordConnect app, for example) unless you have the 10-speed. It's unfortunate, because I honestly hate the 10-speed. It's clunky, always searching for gears, and just generally makes the car less pleasant/fun to drive.
Buy whichever one puts a smile on your face. Doesn’t matter if it’s an automatic or a manual, the only thing that counts is smiles per gallon

@@gtxhunter9980 hey there! Old post, but I’d love for the basic GT to get it. I think you can only get the tremec in the Dark Horse spec, right? That is almost 60k, so I’d love for the standard trans to be the tremec… I don’t want to have to spend 60k for a good stick shift lol
I used to own an 18’ auto GT and traded it for a 19’ Bullitt. All I can say is both trans are amazing, the Manual is more engaging and more fun imho, but I can’t deny the fact that I miss the auto while doing some hard runs!
Any issues with the manual yet?
Always had manual mustangs in the past , went 10r80 this time and will never look back.
The YT algorithm led me to your channel and it's the only thing it's done right so far. Love the reviews I've watched so far! Fair kudos and fair criticism without being over the top. Little jealous of your access to such cool rides! Keep up the awesome work!
Hey Man! Thanks for finding us! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I appreciate you being part of the Raiti's Rides Family!
Thanks for the pony rides Joe! I’d have to go with the auto cause I’m old and shifted enough back in the day. Nice job! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

Going on a turn in 2nd gear is best! Whoever says they dont miss their 6speed is in denial. A manual V6 mustang is more fun to drive than a 5.0 auto - no drama.
Row your boat or get someone else to do it for you.
"I am going to row with my right arm, not with my fingertip" Lol, I got a C7 instead of a C8 for the same reason.
Same here 2019 Z06 triple black with M7 just because they were not making anymore manuals # bring back the manuals
@@jaygr306 how is it man 7 speed manual sounds insane n like they only way u should buy a vette.
@@truevhazo4001 absolutely i wouldn't own a sports car or muscle car with an auto thats no fun the M7 tremec trans in the corvette is awesome i hope they bring back the manual for the C8 Zo6 if they don't I'll keep the C7 for sure # bring back the manual
Sorry for you Calvin you wasted money on the C7, the C8 is midengine double clutch like supercars it only needs a supercharger and exhaust to be perfect.
@@Chris-hw4mq chris but when did purist ask for dct. That's for the civilians for their regular commute cause god knows those c8 are never seeing 160 on the dash. Its a miracle if they ever see 100.

That is so awesome!
Recently bought the 2020 Shadow Black Mustang GT Premium with Performance Pack 1, Show Stopper Red interior with all the bells and whistles in the 10 speed Auto.... Ford had some amazing deals going on and I was able to get my Mustang back after trading in my 2014 4 years ago..... Man oh Man I couldn't be happier than I am right now. Literally a kid in a candy store every time I'm behind the wheel with the Exhaust on track... wooooo
I am so happy to hear that! Congrats!
Got my 18 GT pp1, 10 spd auto, white with red show stopper, recaro, magnaride & active exhaust ...for 2 yrs now...love it ...my daily driver...in Toronto, ON, Canada...
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience! I really appreciate your support!
I have an 18' manual and i love it
I am so happy to hear that Ryan!
Dude thank so much for pitting these two together. There was always a great debate between the 10R80 and the Mt-82. I guess everyone can put it to rest after watching this video.
I am so glad that this could help!
The first car I want I’m not changing mine Joe u make my day man
I am so happy that I can do that for you!
U do it everytime
Couldn't agree with your more.
Row your own gears, but that blue
in the automatic looks amazing.
Another awesome review.
Yes! Stick shift it is! Black out look is sweet
You have good taste!
To each their own.
For cars, auto transmission is better because auto transmission shift faster than manual transmission. Why? Because there are a seconds delay between shifts. If it is a motorcycle, then the manual transmission is better because you use your foot to kick up or down (reverse/invert shifter) faster than the automatic transmission.
The best thing on my 2019 GT was the active exhaust. My neighbors really fucking appreciate it.
driving with manual is truly has a new word for all drivers
Joe, great review, I have a 2019 GT with the auto and standard suspension, I love and own 2 manual cars, but the 10 speed is an amazing transmission and you can manual shift when you want to have fun, the handling is just right, stiff but not a race car, the BEST sports / muscle car I have ever owned. so fast it's frightening!
I always laugh at the excitement in your voice when getting on the throttle 👍
And, when you said,
"I'm a manual guy" 😄
Thanks Eric for letting me share my passion with you!
I love my 19 GT with a 10 speed it just pulls and pulls.
You hit the nail on the head every time with there awesome cars ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for saying that! I am grateful for your support!
I haven’t driven the mustang but I drove a 6 speed Saturn and that’s a fun car
If swap out the clutch assist spring with one from steeda, it’s even better! Easy, inexpensive mod.
Thanks for the great info!
What a car!! Thanks Raiti for the fantastic comparison and review! Dual camera views is unique and fantastic too! In short, you have sold the AT version to me without being actually selling! :) Am on later this year - GT 5.0 AT! Decided! Thanks again bro
Joe’s face in the Auto: 🙂 Joe’s face in the Manual: 😁
The best evidence
I just got me a 2020 GT automatic and let me say it’s the best choice ever. Easy and does the same as a Manuel. 😊
I have owned 3 Mustangs and my only automatic one is my 2022 GT500. It was only available in auto for those that don't know. I will be picking up a used GT with performance pack 1 this weekend to daily drive that is a 6 speed manual.
That was awesome. I love it. I can't wait to see more muscle cars.
As a person who loves foreign V8’s, the main car that would make me have treasonous thoughts is a 2018+ Race Red GT with that 10AT.
Thanks for sharing that Cameron!
@yoyo 19 any regrets on getting the auto? I'm shopping around for a GT and can't decide between the 6 spd or 10r80. I've always been a manual guy but I drove the 10r80 and was very impressed
I have a 2019 GT in race red, 10 speed with the performance pack, active exhaust and magnaride!
Love it!
@yoyo 19 awesome thanks for the reply!
@@andrewhaley7426 auto is faster anyway!
Thanks for sharing that input and perspective.
Ha Ha, you're the man. Great review. With a manual you become one with the machine...a Zen like experience. Nothing like it.
Thanks man! You are so very right!
SORRY JOE!!!!! 😎
But I'm gonna have to
ZONK!! THE AUTOMATIC!!
I have a manual and won't change it for the world!!
See Joe that's the fun of a stick your in control that's what makes the fun of having a mustang!!
Last guy I raced poor thing
I Blew the doors off his stang with that 10 speed automatic finally after 30min when he caught up to me I seen the look on his face he felt so bad & ashamed I thought he was about to cry so I Bought him a Pizza & Couple of twinkies to make feel better.
Keep posting love the videos Joe!!! ✌👍
I'm sorry that I don't live in an area where I could buy my mustang from Walker, but I did want to thank you for your videos. I watched a few of them prior to choosing my 6 speed manual for my mustang gt. thank you.
I have a 2018 Manual Mustang GT and never once gave the 4 inch screen much thought. I see it just fine and have no problems using the radio controls and seeing the backup camera. I didn't buy a Mustang for the screen, and I wasn't willing to spend extra to get a bigger screen. Nope, used that money for custom wheels and a mod to my clutching system. A screen that's good enough, is good enough.
I’m coming from a stage 3 STI EVO eye and a Nismo V2. Had to rent a car from enterprise and lucked out because a Mustang GT premium 10 speed with digital cluster. I gotta say , this thing is a blast to drive. And driving it in S drive with sport plus paddle shifting is changing my entire life. I think I’ll have some more 🎉🎉
i ordered a new 2020 GT like the blue one in the video, I’m super excited to pick it up as soon as this pandemic is over (:
Congrats! I am right there with you man!
Same here
Mustang has the best exhaust sound stock!!!!
Honestly, a lot of what your hearing from the cabin is all intake sound, which is just as awesome!
Definitively you are a trustworthy source. You know your business.
Thanks Ralph! That really means a lot!
Fantastic comparison! I'll stick with the manual but that black and blue beast was beautiful.
That is the way that I would go!
That velocity blue is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It really pops in the Florida sun!
I test drove a 2020 red performance pack 1 ford mustang gt automatic and i took it to the highway and it was so fun and it was comfortable!
Thanks for sharing that great input and perspective!
Just flip a coin I guess?! No, go with what best suit you & yours. Thanks Joe and Crew!
THANK YOU !!!!! I JUST GOT THE 6 SPEED LETS GO JOE !
That is so awesome Joel! Congrats!
Thank you for this comparison , I am getting ready to buy a Bullitt Mustang and I want the 6speed manual for the fun.
You will love that car and I really appreciate your support!
just picked up a 6 speed gt the car is gorgeous and it drives amazing, the only down side the car was modified by the previous owner.
Another great comparison review Joe! I share the manual transmission mustang love also. I love my 12 mustang 6 speed like the day I bought it new!
Thanks for letting me share it with you Raymond!
White is not my color but I would take the white one just because it has a manual and less of all the technology dashboard crap. Love the videos Joe.
Joe is a weapon!! Love the absolute disregard for rules of road. Go joe go
10 spd for the drag strip, manual for everything else.
Ill take the 6speed for the drag to idc 👀
MT82 sucks. You'll be grinding gears and getting locked out at high rpm. Then there's a chance you'll break the shift fork with aggressive shifts.
@@mattjones1378ill have a warrenty so fuck it whats the worst that can happen besides most of those where abt the 15 to 17s
@@mattjones1378 85k on my mt82 no grinding and no lock out, does whine a little bit. FBO on e85 since 10k miles.
Manual for having “fun” and get L’s, 10 speed for handing out L’s.
Another great video Joe and Tom!! That blue looks soo good, but I'm like you Joe I need my manual GT!
I like the way that you think Dylan!
If I had to commute and drive in traffic daily, auto for sure. My 12’ GT is my fun, nice weather car and I’d never drive an auto. Shifting is part of the driving experience, nothing like it!

Great video Joe. If you want fast slips, there’s no denial auto is the way, but for me Manual all the fn way, more engaging, more fun to drive. 👍👌
I knew you would like this one! Well said!
Nothing beats an Automatic with adaptive Cruise Control in rush hour..
@@Ramblequist yep, I get it. DC is a place I have visited many times. It’s me, but I’ll still choose the manual, while I can drive it 😂.
You are so very right!
Suburu has had hill hold for decades. Have a 2021 WRX, and there is an option to turn it off. Mustang no option?
@@Ramblequist yes, you can turn it off on the Mustang too.
MANUAL WITHOUT QUESTION, FOR ME AT LEAST.
I totally agree with you Mark!
The very tightly spaced gear ratios on that 10 speed are insane!
Tell me about it Ivan!
Just traded my 19 GT pp1 for a 20 GT p2. You were right about the magnaride plus the active exhaust wow!!
How do you like the bullit? Do you have it in that awesome green color?
@@edmedm7993 agree on gears being a little too long, i would have preferred at least the second gear to be shorter.
Totally agree. I have the Bullitt (Shadow Black) and the only thing I would like to change is the gearing. Going through the gears sure is fun - but you end up going much too fast - much too soon. Would have been more fun with shorter gears. But still - the best car I have owned and I love it 😎
I love my GT velocity blue convertible performance pack 1 course automatic transmission
I bought a 18 gt manual brand new for 31k out the door! Great times! Sold it after 8 months.
That is a great price!
Why did you sell it?
Sup Joe. Happy 56th Birthday Ford Mustang 🇺🇸❤💪🏽🙏🏼🐎
Yes sir! Big day!

Blacked-out or not, both Mustangs looks aggressive as always 👌🏻
Maybe it's because I learned to drive on a stick, but I can't imagine driving an auto as my "fun" car. What's the point? Still want an auto for commuting in traffic, though.
Very good point Steve!
The point is to win races...

I can totally understand where you are coming from Doug! Choose wisely! ;-)
That is such a very good point! I am glad that you chose the right one.
Keep it old school keep it manual. And put Flowmaster 40 and H pipes. That way I'll have that traditional 80s Foxbody scream
