- The Mustang has been around for 55 years. Over the years it has prove that it can do many things very well, but is the current generation Mustang GT PP1 the Stang that can do it ALL? Under the hood is a 5.0L V8 that is pumping out 460HP & mated to either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. Going the Performance Package Level 1 gives you some extra handling, braking, and appearance goodies. On the inside you will find all of the amenities you could ask for. Is the 2020 Ford Mustang PP1 the BEST all-around Muscle Car?

I purchased my third Mustang...2020 GT PP1,auto/active exhaust, Kona blue in December of 2020. Had a 1969 Windsor-powered & a 2005 GT and was hesitant when the Mustang body changed; but I get chills now every time I have to run to the grocery or pickup the grandkids from school. My wife hates driving in it....too low, too loud, too bumpy. But the best part are my solo drives; with the windows down, radio off & looks from everyone else on the road. And one of the best investments from my 401K; for the serenity of mind and soul.
Yes sir Joe! I bought my 16 GT PP1 exactly for the flexibility to have a fun daily driver that I can take to the road racing track on occasion. I've been twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. The car performed flawlessly for me. Now I'm not a crazy track driver trying to cut the best lap possible, but just someone that enjoys driving it fast. The brakes are great, it handles well, and it took the 30 minute track sessions with ease. Love the PP1 Mustang.
I traded my 2015 in and bought the PP1 in Rapid Red and it's like night and day so much faster than my Gen II GT. Shoulder surgery forced me to get the A10 vs. my old 6 speed! This is the first automatic performance car ever!
I have a 19 GT PP1 with a manual, in kona blue. I can't say enough how much i love it. I recently had a tune, long tube headers, CAI, H pipe, axle back installed and it is beastly. The suspension aspects of the PP1 can definitely handle the additional power. I also lowered it and put in a K member brace and steeda stop the hop kit. Thanks for covering a great car!
I have one... bought it after watching all your videos. I've owned many Mustangs but took a break while got into some other hobbies. I bought this and have been blown away... this car is so refined, fast, comfortable, the 10 spd rips... I don't even know what I'd even want to mod as it's so nice from Ford. I'll find something of course :) but yes, best Mustang Gt yet.

Joe , you do so much to help Ford sell these cars. You had a huge hand in why I purchased my 2019 GT 6 Speed , Performance pack one. I know it gets some zonks however it really is a great car. I love mine and I can't wait till spring to get in back out. Thanks again for all the Mustang content. I'm sure you're going to love your 350.

Yeah any 5.0 powered Mustang is a great car in my book. And Im still Loving my 2012 Kona Blue GT just as much as the day I bought it.

Ariz _1703 I never felt that the track mode on my Mustang GT was loud enough I considered putting a borla,stinger exhaust on it but got rid of it before I could now I have a GT 350 I don’t plan on doing anything to the exhaust because it’s already loud enough. Sounds awesome.

Best car to buy for sure. I ordered my 2019 and love it more everyday. And if mods are your thing there are endless options for that as well.

Yes all it needs now is a rear spoiler off a wrx si and a 2 foot tall pro stock hood scoop.lambo doors and those tiny wire wheels off a low rider would finish it .

JR: I thought I was the only one that has a perpetual smile, bordering on nervous laughter every time I drive my 2018 GT Mustang, despite having it for short of two years now. Perhaps it explains why this is my fourth GT I have purchased over the years.

hello Joe, a fantastic review as always. The PP1 is a phenomenal combination, however I purchased the 301A with a manual. It was priced right and I’m not racing it or anything. I ❤️ my 2020 GT in Velocity Blue.

it's bullsh!t how the mustang gt pp2 only comes in 6 speed manual without the option to get it in 10 speed auto.
especially when the auto is that much better. I've never seen a company release a pp1 better than the pp2
It's a V8 muscle car, it needs a manual shift, and to be 'driven'. Buy a manual and appreciate it before they disappear forever.

I much prefer this Kona Blue than the heritage blue but it still looks great. I got an 18 PP1 in Crimson Red. Best color in my opinion, too bad they only made it for that year.

I just got a 2020 EcoBoost kona blue with the black accent package windows got limo tint yesterday
Yeah. I think for the $, it’s hard to beat. At $52,400; I got a best price of just over $46K. Smooth, up to date electronics and option to supercharge with a warranty and 725 hp. With all upgrades to tranny, etc. add only $15K if you need it. I’m at the point where 460 hp with a tune will give you almost 500 hp! Easy Yes!

These ponies starting to get way too expensive. Got my gt back in 2018 for 35k. Almost 50k for a gt is way too much
At $50k (with upgraded interior, which I would want) you have to start considering the new $60k mid-engine Corvette. I think I'd take the vette.
Its fully loaded. You can get a Base GT for $35k.

The engine covers protect wires and electronics from dirt & debris. It's mostly less resilient against that than the additional heat it causes...mostly

Joe I have 2 quesions for you:
1. Are all mustangs with optional active exhaust sound the same like for example PP1 vs PP2 vs GT 350, I know 350R has resonator delet so if you delet the resonator on all off these they sound the same?
2. I want to get a four door convertable with a good sound like this, which one would you recommend? I know 350 doesnt come as convertable but how about pp1 or 2?

silisur the active exhaust sounds the same whether on a base gt, PP1 or PP2 car.

Joe, I feel like the GT PP1 is the way to go. I was going to get a Kona Blue one, but I got a really good deal on a used 2018 GT w/PP1 with the 6 Speed Manual and went for it instead. I will tell you I'm not the biggest fan of the MT82 manual transmission in it, but it's ok. I honestly think if I had the 10-Speed Auto I would get in so much trouble with it. So smooth & fast... the manual being a tad bit slower gives me sometime shifting between gears to think about if I really want to proceed with hauling the mail... haha. Congrats btw on getting the Shelby through Walker Ford... can't wait to see thi all happen!

Gorgeous Mustang and great review as usual. Can someone please explain to me why one would ever leave the lot with the dealers sticker on the trunk (6:00)? I see them all the time on the road but I've never bought a car with it on. Serious question. Agree on a price and then be, oh yeah, take that shit off.

I live about 30min from walker ford but I bought my 2018 Gt PP1 Manual black on black 15k miles big screen dual climate sync3 package for $28k at Audi of Clearwater down the block from there last month was a fresh trade in.

Well I have had a '94 GT, an '05 GT and a '13 GT so I guess I have to say "great car"... :-) All gone now and I drive an F-150... :-) Gotta say that driving a regular cab, short box, 4x2 with 2.7 and 10 speed with 3:73 rear is fun too. Doesn't handle worth a sh!* but when I put it in sport mode and it rev matches the down shifts you gotta smile.... LOL :-) Buying a Mustang? At least try the 10 speed and see! I've never had an auto like this 10 speed, (it's amazing) and I have owned 39 cars in my life over 44 a year span... :-)

I’ve been a car guy for 52 years I love the Dodge Ford and Chevy competition for many many years it’s great I do love muscle cars but I do love my 2018 octane red pearl coat Daytona 485 hp four-door family car, we do have a disadvantage 550 more pounds but they ride a lot better don’t knock ford I don’t knock Chevy but I love my Mopar and I’ll always be a Mopar guy happy racing to everybody

This set up is the vehicle I purchased, only in Twisted Orange and Convertible... Any way to find out how many in this set up Ford made?
I can assure anyone... this is a Great car and I got 10K off the sticker with employee pricing !!! I paid $53K with .9% financing for five years. Only 4K more than the model in this video and the vehicle is not a convertible.
How could I pass up on such a great deal??? I had looked at other performance vehicles and I support my fellow North American Unionized workers by purchasing American built vehicles.

There are two dealerships across the road from where I live in Sudbury Ont. As opposed to getting into a used Scat Pack Charger for $13K more and with 5K Km already on her ... I drove each car and the Mustang leaves the Charger in the dust anytime you go around a corner that you drive hard and tight...
My Car was built in Canada in July 2020 and I purchased it from Belanger Ford in Chelmsford Ontario Sept. Very very very happy. This amazing dealership has a 2019 Ford GT in their showroom. One of two in Canada.
Now... this dealership also has an air field in the family. Yes ... they have videos showing their cars...
And... I purchased the Ford Performance Cold Air intake kit with pro cal as well as a GT 350 intake manifold from Levittown Ford in N.Y. no taxes on purchases... And I cannot wait to dyno the vehicle...

@17:04 it’s not because the Camaro uses pushrods.. It’s because the Camaro is 6.2 liters.. The bigger the engine the less rpm is required to make the same hp/tq

The Camaro ss and 1Le come with the performance package without having to order it and pay extra.I've seen Mustang Gt's with yhe same brakes as the base Mustang.All Camaro ss and 1Le come standard with Brembo brakes and the 1Le comes with even better Brembos than the SS.The GT has more visibility through the windows but you're going to have to buy a GT350 or GT350R to run with the Camaros on the track.Good luck finding a GT350 and if you do it's many many thousands more than the Camaros and with no performance advantage.
The Camaro is gone (AGAIN) in 2023 ..G M is dumping the Camaro for the second time due to poor sales , the Mustang has been in production since 1964 ..

Joe on non pp cars that vent is open, has something to do with aerodynamics in regards to narrower tires versus the wider tires on the pp cars

Just got one of these 2020s with the California Special package. Such a great car! I can't speak highly enough of the 10 speed auto in it. I've always had manual Mustangs, but the MT82's are weak and I plan to put a Whipple on it so I went auto. But if this is how good autos are these days, I may never buy a manual again.
My GT shall never see a race track. Therefore, when I special ordered my Mustang, I did not include a PP. Good snacks suggestions. Kit Kat is my snack of choice though.
I was all over Ford's website, and at no time was there ever mention of a Performance Pack - Level 1. Perhaps you're referring to the GT Performance Package? (Lol)
