Just a little tip for you guys. I've been doing non surgical hair replacement for 30 years. I don't mind sharing info. There's a product specifically for this. It's called Qushi living enzyme.
The only time I run into that issue as far as, the smell, is if I’m on vacation and I don’t get a chance to do a re-groom when I need too. I normally do a complete regroom every 5-7 days just because I like when it feels fresh. When it’s fresh it feels nice and tight on my head and I’d doesn’t itch NEARLY as much, if at all, as if you wear it a week or longer. I have gone two weeks before and omg it itched so bad and yeah, it didn’t smell that great. Glad you found a solution for this problem. I may have to use it when I go to Europe.
Jake Kent Yeah I do all of my attaching and maintenance myself. It was important for me to learn and be able to do all myself. Except for the hair cutting that is.
Nizoral shampoo on the natural hair will get rid of the odor and eliminate the néed for putting alcohol on the scalp when putting the piece back on you head, too if you are doing an install(I call it a service).. The odor is also the adhésive. Most people cant smell it unless theyre on top of you, depending how bad you are. Will def check out apple cider vinegar concoction. To get rid of glue stuck in hair use a fine tooth comb with lots of solvent on the basé and comb through hair until liquified. Mix with solvent with leave in conditioner when doing this. I find less tape gets stuck in the hair by adding tape to scalp instead of to the piece and I'm strictly a lace tape guy
another tip: when removing piece from head scrub entire scalp including natural hair area with povidone iodine (betadine) I dont care what anyone says even if youre wearing and washing a lace piece its a breeding ground for all sorts of microbes. All that dampness, oil, trapped water after a shower makes it ripe for germs and odor. Betadine kills everything within about 30 seconds and dries thé scalp out without néed for alcohol.
late response, but yes, as lace units are fully breathable, smell issues are very rare compared to poly. Occasionally I get odor with poly units but with lace have never had the issue
I have been using a hair patch since 6 months but after the last couple of servicings l had a hair infection. Also l noticed much to my embarassment that the glue starts smelling really, really bad!! Any tips on this? I don't want to be my bald self again! 😭😭
Hello Jake. Will the apple cider vinegar cause a specific smell if you mix it with shampoo? Also, I think you've mentioned in the video, but how long do you leave the apple cider vinegar in your hair for? Thank you so much for your help! This is definitely the future, and sooner than later it will be the norm because you've pave the way for us men!
@@MrNate858 well, obviously don't go out around town like that! lol. what i did was take a shower, use this mix, and then hang out for 15-20 minutes while watching some netflix, and then pop back in the shower.
If you have a poly unit, you're leaving it on for 3 weeks, and engaging in rigorous exercise everyday isn't that why it smells? Isn't there bacteria building between your scalp and the bottom of the poly system? I thought that was one of the reasons people took the poly system off to reattach and clean their scalp one a week or so?
Jake Kent can you let us know how the lace system feels over a poly when you workout. I love CrossFit and have been curious to know how the system will hold up to the sweat from our WODs.
I love your personality. You are also such a wonderful, kind and handsome guy! You're video was interesting today because I could see that being an issue if you exercise a lot. I would love to see a video of you showing the proportions for the mixture and also one of you in the shower showing your techniques. That'd be awesome!
I love how every time I google a question about my system there's a Jake Kent vid :) Keep it up!
Very informative, thanks bro!! First 4 weeks with my new hair system and it’s been a learning experience!

I know what you mean about unlocking skills. That's how I feel about life now. Almost like a video game. It's a great feeling!
Always great videos. What shampoo do you use? And conditioner? Thanks.
Tom
Wow this is a very good tip, tks again brow.
You are very welcome! It’s probably the least harsh of the varying chemicals
So if it was an all lace system would you not have had the smell issue?

Did you find any solution for this problem? 😬
Use scalp protector and tape maybe?
Superb realistic experience shared ..thanks

Nathan, no it doesn’t leave a smell. I have tried leaving it on for an hour, and also 15-20 minutes. I’d say the 15-20 minutes does the trick.
@@JakeKent Thank you! Do you actually leave the shampoo and apple cider vinegar on your hair system while wearing it on?

@@JakeKent Thank you very much!
Found this vid just now but great advice
Good job.... thank you!
Thank you too!

@@JakeKent thanks a lot

i heard that it was actually the specific tape i was using. but yes, bacteria would be the cause.
can we apply organic almond oil on hair as leave in conditioner?
sounds too oily..Frizz ease..gives a nice shiney look and isnt oily at all
Can you tell me where did you buy your hair system?
I got it from the hair installer I use in Miami! But I plan on buying systems myself soon. Stay tuned ;)
a lace system will help with the smell - lace is more breathable
I’m getting one installed this weekend!
Good advice! The community thanks you!!! 🥳

Thanks Richard! Maybe I’ll make one soon about that
@@JakeKent I'd like that:)
I'm gonna start calling it 'slingin webs'
😅
You wash it, in the shower... with shampoo...
the tape i was wearing was causing an odor that was not being removed with jush a normal wash+shampoo
@@JakeKent I usually re-attach at night, bu morning, no odor. I use Walkers Ultra-Hold tapes.
Great advice, tooooo long of a video
