Wow! Love the fact that every boat is equal in your eyes and you clearly appreciate and enjoy all the different designs . What a great turnout to your little rally and you definitely sold the next meet-up to me and all of us watching your video. Such a beautiful place to sail and camp onboard or on in a tent . I live in the Uk so won't be able to attend the next meeting. Keep sharing for us all, ( if you can ) . Thanks 👍🙂.
Thanks for the video. Friday was a fantastic day. Great to meet up with other small boat sailors. Ran out of wind Sunday and couldn't get out in to the main lake. Look forward to doing this again.
BRUCE, thank you for this post. I reckon I’m a bit behind. Been following Paul. Good to see you. I appreciate that you’re not afraid to get out, even in rough weather. I did exactly that when younger. I was always thinking, we won’t get better by avoiding difficulties. Good on you! Say, “Hey”, to Paul. Thanks again from…the US, east Tennessee.
G’day Papa Jeff, thanks for taking the time to watch my videos and writing to me. I do enjoy getting out into some challenging conditions and glad you appreciate it.Are you or were you a Daysailer man? Will pass on your regards to Paul.
Fantastic turn out Bruce, nice to see some new faces and very encouraging for the rally next year. Shame the weather was not playing ball, cheers Paul😃
Great video n sailing action Bruce. Just picked up a Monty 17’. It’s a 1978 but in great shape for its vintage. I’m going over the wood n refinishing plus learning the new rigging. Hoping to try her out soon. Cheers 🥂 Papa J (Nick). ⛵️
That Frankenheron of yours looks great Bruce. Nice one! Would have loved to have seen the West white potter, Far 5000 and the Explorer. A bit of a 16ft fest. Great turn out with lots of new people. I sure miss going on a Raid.
Thanks Dave, yes it was a good turnout. It’s great to have some new boats along.Maybe you could keep the Cherry at the new block for the occasional raid.
Hello... I am building my own wooden dinghy based on the Heron but with modifications. I intend to be able to camp cruise and sleep at least one aboard. Did you manage to convert it at night to have a sleeping platform afloat or simply you camp on beaches ? Thanks and kudos from Italy ...
Hi Stefan, I never got sleeping arrangements organised and just camped ashore but it’s not too hard to make some slats for a sleeping platform. In my first Heron I slept in the bottom of the boat. Good luck with it. Cheers Bruce
Great vid, what a beautiful lake and the water was so clear. Nice lookin boats too, thanx.
Yes it’s a great spot. I am glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment.

Great to see the Heron sailing and rowing looks great I hope you are happy with her Bruce
Thanks Greg, I am fitting a standard Heron mainsail as the main I used was a little underpowered but the boat is performing well otherwise,

--Just like we did here in NZ. Keep up the good work putting out these vidios.
Thanks Ken will do!
Great video and a beautiful place. A year should really be long enough to plan to attend the rally. I wonder what my excuse will be…
Hopefully you will be there so won’t need one!

Thanks for the adventure! What make or model was the light blue open boat?
Thanks, the blue one is an Argie 15.
What a nice tour! You said your boat was the smallest, how long is your boat?
Thank you,my boat is a Heron which is 11’ft 2inches long.

where can I get the plans of the boat that appears at 21:23?
It’s an Ian Oughtred design, not sure exactly which one.
