I totally agree. Most of my life I watched people follow their “passion, purpose” in life and I had no clue what mine was. I fell into a pretty bad depression partly because of that lack of knowing what my purpose was. Now I understand that the only so called purpose in life is to live, to experience life, to love, travel, grow and just be. Just be happy.

@Tyler Gibson I think a lot of peoples in their twenties (or even younger) struggle with that same thing. Makes us all feel less lonely to know we are not crazy for feeling that way. That there are other people with the same struggle.
We are so disconnected from our inner selves nowadays. So distracted by this modernized world. I hope you find some peace within and overcome your depression :)

Most of us feel the same way. Society and social media tells us one thing, but what we value in life should be an internal thing, not come from external sources. Personally, I've become a nihilists over the years. There is no purpose, just a sense of enjoyment, fulfilment, and passing on your DNA to the next generation. Everyone has to find their own value in life.

Finding a life purpose puts such pressure on (mostly) young people. For me, when somebody asks me what I want to do in life and why I not just do any job (without getting any value from it) just to be financially secure, I get really overwhelmed and sad. I know society tells us there has to be some stabilization in life... a job, a partner, a dream, an idea... anything... But for most people (as I'm speaking for myself and people I know really well) sometimes simply living is really hard. We just want to breathe and try to reconnect with ourselves and the world to find stabilization within us (as cheesy as it sounds). So I guess my purpose in life is going to find myself by trying to be more conscious about what is happening around me. And simply...breathe.... Thanks Lana, for this great video. Am I just going to ask myself, “is this it?” “Is this my life now?” I realized after watching that movie that I need to stop trying to live my life like there’s a certain end goal because the truth is life is more than just a finish line just enjoy the race and even better don’t even look at it as a race just look at it as a joy ride because that’s how you’ll really enjoy it.

Having studied "science" in neuroscience, psychology, sociology and medical sciences for over46 years, I would say that the thoughts and insights of Lana Blakely are just as useful and valid as any published "scientific" study. Your mind and heart are tuned in to the nature of being human. That is your gift to humanity. Indeed, I would say that, once you realize how insightful you are, it is at that point, when you will "discover" your purpose in life. I have suggested that you study for an advanced degree in the social sciences, or pedagogy: a masters, and if you reach higher, a PhD. Regardless of your pursuit of higher education, I would say that you should take a topic of interest to you, like "finding purpose in life" and write a book sharing your ideas and feelings. This will be beneficial for you and for so many people who will read your book. I think you will put a smile on the face of so many thousands of people who follow your you tube--blog posts. Lana you are terrific. Just keep doing what you are doing, sharing your heart and mind with all of us.

This is really clarifying for me. I too value this mindset and your video really helps to solidify just why it's a useful perspective. Try new things. I strongly resonate with your take on Lana's message by commenting, "before any of that, be grateful for every waking hour and restful night." To me, search of purpose is in a way a proof of your dissatisfaction with the given situation. But your comment, "to be grateful," is a way to counter this purposive search. If you are grateful for every waking moment, you are satisfied every moment, so there will be no necessity to search something outside a given moment. This is in a way, an application of gratitude as a way of finding purposes not only somewhere but actually everywhere. Gratitude leads to a fulfillment of each moment of our lives. Thanks for letting me express my reflection based on your comment.

I thought finding a job that serves others would give me that sense of fulfillment, but I realised that I was wrong, when last week I received a different job offer that I accepted because it would give me more freedom and the possibility to have more free time for my hobbies. So now I believe my "purpose" is to do the things I love and enjoy life in every moment and every single aspect. I really found this video relatable Lana. I too spend a lot of time trying to figure out this purpose thing. But after some self reflection I noticed that instead of trying to find happiness in purpose and a reason to get up in the morning, I should do it in reverse instead. Why not be happy to begin with? Why not get up in the morning simply because of the joy of being. I know this sounds idealistic, which is why almost immediately many people will look at the negative things in life. How can I be happy if I have bills to pay? How can I be happy if I am not where I want to be? etc. But the reality is that the inner joy of being is within everyone's reach. How beautiful is it to just see the colours? If you are blind, how beautiful is it to hear? If you are deaf how beautiful is it to feel? And ultimately, how beautiful is it to just be?

Some people feel empty and don't know what's their purpose in life.
Let me tell you this, you need Jesus in your life. Only Him can fulfill that void in your heart.
      YOU ARE LOVED! ♥
Do you know Jesus loves you and wants to have a relationship with you? Yes, YOU!
Not because He needs you, but because He wants you. His very nature is LOVE.
God wants you to know Him and enjoy His magnificence. Take a few minutes now to discover
how you can begin a personal relationship with Him.
God LOVES YOU SO MUCH that He GAVE His ONLY begotten Son
(Jesus Christ) to DIE for your sins.
John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
      everlasting life. ; John 14:6 - Jesus
said, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
      except through Me".
Salvation is God's GIFT to us. Jesus paid it ALL at the

Dalai Lama has said, "the purpose of life is to be happy".
It's a miracle to be alive.
Cherishing this and going with the flow gives every day a purpose.

We are no here just to be happy.. .I can not be happy if my cat or dear friend just died... It is not that simple... We are here to experience every emotion from happiness, to loss, sadness etc... Search for meaning, OK, but search for happiness, not sure... If nothing, we will all die one day... Some are not quite happy around that

      @@dzihanahajdarpasicmisirlic5347 Very well said. ✨
I think what helps is to feel the moments however they may be and accept them. Often, we try to run away to the next thing and miss the feeling of the moment.
Life is rarely exactly how we think we want it, so I guess, just going with the flow brings peace and calm.

    • @judylloyd7901
      @judylloyd7901 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

To say that the purpose of life is to be happy is very over-simplified and superficial.
Cherishing the things in your life, the people you love, etc., may bring a sense of contentment, but scarcely a sense of purpose.
Purpose has to be deeper than that 😁

    • @nehainthebay
      @nehainthebay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@judylloyd7901 I think what the Dalai Lams meant was that happiness is in living every moment. It is in waking up and being grateful for that. In cherishing life, we cherish our companions and friends and neighbors and strangers we meet. It is not easy to do this if we focus on what is wrong in life. So cherishing the positive leads to a life of positive purpose like compassion and empathy.
Anyway, that’s my interpretation and gives me peace and purpose 🙂

This video was so comforting to hear. A year ago I thought I had my whole life figured out. I started studying environmental engineering and was so sure that was my ultimate life goal. Long story short, that's no longer the situation. My mentality just shifted so tremendously in 2020 and I can 100% say I'm the happiest I've ever been. I made a video talking about why I dropped out and other reflections if you'd like to check it out :)
In my opinion, we don't exist for one sole purpose, life is so much more than a career or an accomplishment. Life is made up of relationships, beauty, growth, and so much more. It's so important to move the focus away from fulfilling your "purpose" and instead just recognize and find fulfilment in each little part of life itself.

This is honestly such a soothing idea, especially if you’re in a transitional limbo stage in life like in between jobs, it’s so important to cultivate your own definition of purpose because if you put it into a “thing” and that thing disappears (like a job, relationship, materials), what happens to you then? I was obsessed with the idea of finding purpose and I guess all of us are seeking answers everyday. But now I'm trying to focus on improving my craft and trying not to rush it. It feels much better to stay grounded and check in with myself to understand how my life is going and actively taking actions to overcome the issues (without trying to compete with anyone but myself) . So, 'finding purpose' feels better when I see it as a slow journey, unknown about the 'exact' destination but positive that I'm at a better place each day, from the day before.... Thanks for the great video Lana!

John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
      everlasting life. ; John 14:6 - Jesus

@@meritu985 What I'm trying to say is that there is no real purpose it's more that people think there has to be a purpose, but there is not. The purpose of living and having something to live for are two different things. You need to focus on what makes you happy and get out of your bed every morning instead of finding a purpose in live. You don't have to seek for career goals if that doesn't make you happy. You don't have to go out and party if thats not your thing. Just do what you love and try not to get influenced by other people because you're scared that you will lower there expactations of you. When you find your true self and except who you are and what you want in life, trust me you have something to live for.

When we get stuck in the future (like finding our purpose) or stuck in the past (like ruminating on all our missed opportunities), we lose sight of what’s right in front of us. By living each day in the present, with mindfulness and curiosity like an infant discovering the world for the first time, we sort of unlock that missing piece of the puzzle in living a meaningful life. Not saying this video cured my struggle but you made points that have helped me ease my anxiety and would definitely recommend this to someone else going through the same thing ❤️

All the purposes that you mentioned can be condensed to simply "my purpose is to love" and I would add 'to recieve love' 💗. Love all your videos but I'd sit and hit the like button a thousand times if I could xx

Love it ❤️ Thanks for sharing. We all are always eager to find the purpose of our lives. And yes we do feel lost when we can't find the purpose of life. It is definitely about living life everyday. Living every day purposefully it what is really the purpose of life. Valuing peace and mindfulness is very important.

You basically went from purpose to integrity. I like it. And I think you're a modern philosopher. 😊

Nice video, I can relate to much of what you are saying. I don't think purpose is an end goal where you suddenly start feeling aligned and fulfilled. I have gradually found my sense of purpose by learning to follow my gut appreciated each day as much as possible. In my heart, I feel I'm an artist so I pay attention each day to see where the artistic path takes me.

I found this video through suggested videos.
    Very informative!
It really added to my understanding of a "life purpose" and inspired me to work on a documentary about it.

Amen 🤩 that question takes us into the future, we don’t ‘need’ to take actions until we ‘figure out’ our purpose 👀 Funny concept!!

great video, I don’t look for purpose much any more either, I look for what calls out to, what gives me a burning desire to pursue through thick and thin

This has been running inside my head ever since I was 14. Just a few days ago I told myself that this is worrying is really meaningless and instead I’ve decided to try things that I’m interested in, work through my life and it has definitely brought me a lot of solace and peace. Thanks for sharing your insight Lana! I finally feel like I’m not alone on this journey of acceptance and growth :)

I've watched/listened to your channel for about a year and today's subject was great. At 67 I've learned 2 great secrets connected to the conundrum of what is my life's purpose etc. The first one is letting go a bit and learn to let life pull you forward in a direction without ones mind being so involved. It's letting new information in like a child would without having to file it somewhere in your mind. The second one is a pure gem. Go back to your childhood and remember all the things you loved to engage in. When I was a kid I loved to go camping, sand wood, take things apart. Also, I loved birds, and started vegetable gardening at 5 years old. My career ended up me becoming a home builder, having hudge gardens, and owning land that I camp on as often as possible. Another example is one of my kids. When she was very young she would love removing slivers of wood from my hands after a days work. It was natural for her at age 6 and on to do this. She's now a Doc. I know this sounds a bit over simplified but this approach has worked for me and others I know.

🙌🏻 yes!! It is like we do to ourselves what others do to kids with the question ‘what are you gonna do when you grow up’... it does not allow evolving✨
