The 1100F model sold in NZ & Australia had the lightweight "comstar" wheels finished in gold instead of cast wheels like on this one. We also had lower two-piece clip-on handlebars, and further rear set pegs. Honda accidently sent us a US spec foot peg bracket once by mistake, and the difference was very noticeable. Most U.S models from that era had higher bars and further forward foot pegs than the rest of the worlds models, the U.S spec CBX six has huge, almost chopper like bars, and very forward set pegs compared to other markets. Our ones came without the small fairing and a round headlight, but the fairing was an option you could order through your dealer. The fairing is also the exact same one used on the CX500/650E Euro sports, handy to know if anyone is searching for one. The 1100F is a rare bike here, the far sportier, racier, more powerful, CB1100R (which i'm pretty sure the U.S never got) was the more popular model, due to its race success in production racing, which was huge in the southern hemisphere at the time.

I need to post more videos of my 83. Mine was given to me literally. It sat in a basement for 10 years not running. Took a couple years to get it going.. every seal, bushing, and bearing was replaced.I got a short video on my channel of the R6 starter clutch conversion. I ended up with a Barnett carbon fiber clutch set up in mine, but I feel the oem plates with heavy duty springs is a lot smoother but I like the grab of the Barnett. I also cut out the crossover pipe on the exhaust and welded the holes and bought a set of nonbaffled slip ons. Got a video of that on here too. My forks required automatic transmission fluid, thought that was interesting. I wouldn't recommend heavier oil in the forks.. Mines a 10 footer too lol.. Still get attention for a big ole ugly bike.

Very nice bike. My Son and I bought a 1980 cb900c , 10speed. He has been restoring it for me to ride. Sat in a Body shop since 86. We are about to o paint. Runs extremely good. My son rebuilt the brakes, stainless steal lines ect , re did the air ride. He has it running great. I’ve always loved the Big Honda air cooled bikes . I think they are the Best riding bikes and dependable bikes there is. I’m sure I will enjoy the old Honda.

Beautiful styling....but too many chains in those motors....need to keep them properly tensioned....Best Regards from UK.

The cam covers leak because the rubbers on the cover hold-down bolts wear and no longer put enough 'tension' on the cover (btw: notice your cover has been powder coated, which is not uncommon but not 'factory'). The bolt rubbers should be replaced when you start to see leaks (and do not over tighten those bolts or you'll be doing lots of Helicoiling on the cam caps).
The Tensioner lock at the front of the motor is often a source of leaks and the seal should still be available from Honda (poke or drill a hole in the old seal and pry it out and tap in the new seal).
Other notorious place of leaks is the shifter seal which can be replaced from the ouside (with some fussing to get the old one out).
A gloss black coating that will stand up to the heat of those exhaust header pipes is the holy grail of motorcycle restoration, and so far, nobody's found it.

Yep. I replaced the valve cover bolt rubbers. And the tensioner lock plug is on order.

1 year in 1983 was the US market model. Canada and the European market had 'em for a few short years.

Are you saying that the 1100 was available elsewhere besides 1983? That's news to me.

Canada only had them in 83, same as the US (very slightly different model though)

@@KenCondon We got them here in NZ for a few years, but i'm pretty sure any sold after 83 were just unsold 83 stock. The CB1100R was more popular and common (but still fairly rare) down under due to production racing being very popular in the Southern Hemisphere back then, and the R was very dominant being basically the first of the homologation racers from Japan. Suzuki, and the New Zealand Suzuki importer actually built a handful of very special GSX1100 Katanas, full of trick parts to try and counter the CB1100R's that were winning everything, they are known as the "Wire Wheelers" due to the light weight wire wheels fitted to them, and are extremely rare now.

Love your bike. My first was a 1980 750 Super Sport. Any chance that you would sell it. Looking for one now.
