Sorry but have some more question. When I have the Wad on the SD card and not on the usb drive, does it matter? And are there any themes that can brick my console? And can the Wii recognise a 64 GB USB-Stick?
@@Hue_like12 WADS work just fine on SD cards. I haven't messed with actual Wii themes but I've read that you can definitely brick your system if you don't do it properly. And finally, USB sticks are usable but not the best option. I've read that they're very likely to become corrupted. I started out with an SD card but upgraded to a 1TB external hard drive. Works amazingly and I have more than enough space for all the games I could want. I only keep the SD card in my system for wads, game saves and channels.

I want to thank youfor this informative tutorial and it has worked on my Wii! I tried to install USB Loader (non-GX) roughly 10 years ago but failed because whenever I tried to install things with the d2x installer and others but it has always failed. Couldn't find workarounds or solutions back then. Either way, it finally works. The necessary files to install were on my SD card, WBFS files were on my USB drive. Just wanted to comment this down here: About a couple weeks ago I followed this tutorial and it worked ...for a couple weeks. A problem I had overtime was my apps not loading in homebrew channel or outside of the homebrew channel. Thankfully just unplugging and plugging the USB back in and restarting works. Though one day the apps just, didn't appear no matter what I did. The USB being used seemed to be unformatted and I had to redo the entire process. I've done it about three times, everything works except for USB Loader GX just freezing at "Reinitializing Devices" on start-up resulting in me not being able to use it. I'll most likely edit this if I find out a solution
@@melvin_pictures6598 Figured out the solution. I followed Lima112s video, pretty sure the video language is Portuguese so I'll try to explain how to do it here. What I did was backup what was on my USB to another folder that isn't on my USB (apps, wad, etc,.) and used an application from the site rufus,ie (replace , with .) I reformatted the USB with these settings: Non Bootable Boot Selection, Volume Label 32 GB, File System FAT32, and Cluster Size 32 kilobytes. did you figure it out?
This helped me out a lot. I was using a different mod but was missing some files. Your guide helped me put it together.
I'm glad i could help! :) also thanks for the tip on Kofi

I keep getting a black screen everytime I try to play a game, can anyone help with this? I watched tons of tutorials and can’t figure out why it’s doing that
it only happens for me when i do multiplayers
No matter what i do, when i boot usb loader it freezes at "reinitializing devices" and i tried wii flow that actually loads and sees my game, but when i hit play i just get a black screen
I just wanted to get usb loader gx and then this Tutorial came. Thanks Scott❤
But I have a question. Can I use Wii mod lite as a wad manager to?
Perfect timing! And yes that works as well :)
where have yall been downloading the games from
Google wbfs archive
The vault
ziperto
Just seaching it in google then converting it to wbfs
like someone said, I use the Vault, it's pretty good and it's where I've gotten all my games
At 8:18 when I try transfer my games from drive 1 - 2 it doesnt work
My d2x cios is trippen, it makes my controller flash and never connects
I was trying to figure out the softmodding and i found out that you made a new video 35 minutes ago dudeee thank you so much!!!

I tried this in 2024 and it works thanks so much man now thanks to you I can play my favorite Wii games.

when i loaded into USBLoaderGX, it got stuck on the loading screen and it said "reinitializing devices"
how do i fix that?
Great guide! After lot of confusing and out of dated info found internet, I was able to simple insatall USB Loader GX: now works with my HDD. 26th May, 2024 - Thanks
Excellent tutorial and very thorough. I'll probably tackle this project this week.. I've got one question however, is the process the same for adding GameCube and WiiWare games? Or are they not possible to add to USB Loader GX?
I'd just stick to Nintendont for the Wii games but unsure about wii ware
Wiiware just goes in the WAD folder and you use the wad installer to add them to the library
What if I can’t find d2x-v11-beta1 on my wii as an option for the cIOS settings?
I am having the same problem, not sure what to do. Tried using d2x-v6 instead but my wii is stuck on “downloading ios56 metadata” for slot 249

Ensure that if you are using an SD card, the lock switch is in the unlocked position, otherwise you will not be able to select the correct options in the installer.

for some reason after following your wii mod setup i cannot get it to launch (it sees them) wii games off the usb drive. mind you that drive worked on the wii consoles i had modded prior to this new version of the mod (using d2x with beta1). gamecube games launch no issues. and if i play from an sd card it has no issues. just specifically wii games from usb
I've got the same problem and still its not working. The Games will not launch and i can't figure out why :( I followed step by step exactly how it was explained...

Hey Scott, I was doing great and everything was going smoothly, but for some reason, when I try to use the Wii Backup Manager, my files don't appear. I've tried using an SD and USB both, and even tried deleting and redownloading the Backup Manager, but still can't figure out where I went wrong. Great video, any response would be greatly appreciated.

@@user-ek9it9od9l Let me know if you find any way to fix it!
I was able to get Backup Manager to work on one game. I checked to make sure it worked on the Wii, it did, went back to download and transfer other games to my SD card and I'm having the same issue. No games show up on my drives, except the one game that works. Just when I thought I had it figured out!
@@taliabaker3259 make sure the files for the game within the wbfs folder have been extracted. This can be achieved by left-clicking on the folder for the game and selecting Extract All. Hopefully this can help you out.

Great video. I recently got a new laptop, which unfortunately runs Windows 11 and I can't figure out how to format my SD card to FAT32, as it only gives me the options for exFAT and NTFS. Do you know if exFAT will work in place of FAT32, or am I screwed? Either way, great video!

How can I add a second player, I want to play Wii Party :(
Why do we need to use the Wii manager to transfer the wbfs files, why can't we just copy paste them into the usb?
There is a certain way to set them up, and Wii backup manager makes it much much easier and streamlined. It also avoids people wondering why their games don't work after setting them up themselves and not doing it right
I just followed your tutorial, and it's big "thank you" from me". I purchased a usb stick (2Tb) from ebay not thinking it would work, but it did. Fantastic video, thorough and easy to follow. I used an SD card for all the Apps etc and a usb stick for the games. The only thing I did wrong was putting the covers folder in the sd card rather than the usb stick, easily resolved. Enjoy your coffee ;)
Hey i can‘t find games to download, where did you find them? Maybe I overheard it or i don’t really know but I do not have a w… folder to select and I also do not know where i can download those games…

I have followed every instruction correctly and yet whenever I insert the SD Card it always pops up the following text. "The device in the SD slot cannot be used" I even have the SD card formatted to fat32. What do you think the problem is any help? Also when I insert the SD card it seems to not fit. Hi , Thank you very much for this turtorial.
I followed every step but when I tried to load USB loader GX it shows blank screen.
How do I fix this.
Many thanks.
Why do my games just not show up
Depends on how u done it. Well for my GameCube games I do this I download the isos check dolphin to see if it works and dolphin will show the game id and then in the games folder make a folder of your game and add your id and inside that folder should be your game it will have the game name as the iso file for example Mario sunshine iso change this and call it game and then it should be good as it will show up then
I did everything but its only reading the sd card stuff and not the usb, it shows that the usb device is being "read" but i cant access the games.
No kidding, I'm French and I don't speak English very well, but the quality of the tutorial is great. And it works very well too. Thanks a lot !
Tried this in August 2024 and yes it still works. Great video.
