Sorry but have some more question. When I have the Wad on the SD card and not on the usb drive, does it matter? And are there any themes that can brick my console? And can the Wii recognise a 64 GB USB-Stick?
@@Hue_like12 WADS work just fine on SD cards. I haven't messed with actual Wii themes but I've read that you can definitely brick your system if you don't do it properly. And finally, USB sticks are usable but not the best option. I've read that they're very likely to become corrupted. I started out with an SD card but upgraded to a 1TB external hard drive. Works amazingly and I have more than enough space for all the games I could want. I only keep the SD card in my system for wads, game saves and channels.

Just wanted to comment this down here: About a couple weeks ago I followed this tutorial and it worked ...for a couple weeks. A problem I had overtime was my apps not loading in homebrew channel or outside of the homebrew channel. Thankfully just unplugging and plugging the USB back in and restarting works. Brooooo!!! I've watched other videos for hours. But with this tutorial you made it so easy to do and after following each and every step, i do now understand how it works. Thank you very much!! You should become a teacher hahaha lol
that is amazing to hear! I try to balance showing important details of the process, but not too many so it takes forever :P I appreciate your comment!

It could be an internet issue, but I also downloaded some .wad files from NUS Downloader. You can get the info from cIOS installation guide online.

Do the offline method where you download the wad files manually
for some reason after following your wii mod setup i cannot get it to launch (it sees them) wii games off the usb drive. mind you that drive worked on the wii consoles i had modded prior to this new version of the mod (using d2x with beta1). gamecube games launch no issues. and if i play from an sd card it has no issues. just specifically wii games from usb
I've got the same problem and still its not working. The Games will not launch and i can't figure out why :( I followed step by step exactly how it was explained...
@@Devillsgaming i finally figured out the setting bud, thought id pass it along. solved today 9/17/2023 go to usbloader gxand make sure to TURN OFF SD card Mode in the "hard drive settings" tab. for some reason it wont read from both usb OR sd card.

Ensure that if you are using an SD card, the lock switch is in the unlocked position, otherwise you will not be able to select the correct options in the installer.
@@naku-- what if youre using an external hardrive instead of an sd card but have the same problem?
Great guide! Simple and to the point. Thanks man you are making the modding experience way more fun for many people ❤️
Ok so it took me a minute to actually get it to work and I had to watch like 6 different TH-cam videos but at the end of the day this video was the most helpful. Really detailed and informative. There were a couple issues but at the end it seems to be working fine. 4.9/5 definitely recommend following this guide
Hey Scott, I was doing great and everything was going smoothly, but for some reason, when I try to use the Wii Backup Manager, my files don't appear. I've tried using an SD and USB both, and even tried deleting and redownloading the Backup Manager, but still can't figure out where I went wrong. Great video, any response would be greatly appreciated.
Same problem :(
@@EmBre-p7o Let me know if you find any way to fix it!
I was able to get Backup Manager to work on one game. I checked to make sure it worked on the Wii, it did, went back to download and transfer other games to my SD card and I'm having the same issue. No games show up on my drives, except the one game that works. Just when I thought I had it figured out!
@@taliabaker3259 make sure the files for the game within the wbfs folder have been extracted. This can be achieved by left-clicking on the folder for the game and selecting Extract All. Hopefully this can help you out.
Working as of 8/8/2024, however cios installer had to be done offline even with a wifi connection on the wii.
i've had that happen with some wii's so i usually get the offline wads anyway now :P
wait really? maybe thats why my cios installer dosent work
does anyone know how to fix tcp connect timeout 13:44

This was a perfect video. I’ve been able to turn my Wii into a homebrew beast. 👍🏾
where can i download Games from? or will the wbfs file automatically be there??
this worked for me effortlessly! THANK YOU!!
Well, it worked. Thanks a lot bro. Now I will enjoy playing with my family.
Thanks! I had to use Wii flow since USBLGX was not loading any of my games. Still, great tutorial!
I'm so glad I found this. I came to the unfortunate discovery that the reason why my Smash Bros. Brawl disc doesn't work anymore (but my other games still do), is because it's a dual layer disc. And apparently over time the disc drive just stops reading those...
UPDATE:
Pleased to report that as of 2/25/24, this video is still up-to-date. Very happy I was able to get Brawl running again since my Wii no longer reads the disc.
Did it in may 2024 and it works. Thanks
