I remember modding the Wii when covid first started and we all had to be quarantined. It was the first console I modded and it was fun and pretty simple if you pay close attention to tutorials. This channel has also helped with a few issues I ran into the past. So thanks we came a long way and the Wii still alive!
Yeah covid really activated me to mod the wii. I love doing the wad files it almost feels like cheat codes.

it's always best (depends) to mod a Wii unless you want to sell it for a high price!
@@Erqnrs sorry I’m late but Denver Gamer was the guy I followed for tutorials. He covers pretty much all you need. But his tutorial on how to get hombrew on your Wii is outdated. But all the rest should be fine.

Ps: If you ever can’t get something working rewatch the videos again to see if you missed a step. I got a bit cocky later on and missed a few steps and had to go back to the videos. The guy does really well in explaining everything
thats very cool, I put my Wii in the closet in early 2012 when I went to college and didn't even remember having it till about a week ago when I started cleaning out the closet and I have definitely become more tech-literate since 2012 so with Nintendo killing online I figured why not try and hack it and Reddit brought me here to give me a rundown on what homebrew is, I love that there is a community that kept the Wii alive I will be doing my HW on what to do and I will be back to throwing shells your way.
I sold my Wii back in 2009 so I can pay bills. I regretted that for a while, but I came across a Wii at a thrift store for $20 and grabbed it immediately. It's all I play now, between this and a ps2 I don't even play modern games anymore.
This is superb! I always thought you added extra detail to things that I personally found a necessity to homebrewing a Wii. Thanks for this tutorial and I will be following it closely when i've fixed up a wii i'm working on and need to add homebrew. Cheers Anton!

Anyone can answer my question. So I have my Wii and an SD card . I have to Wiis one at my house and at my grandma's house so I Homebrewed my grandma's house Wii and put it on an SD card and on system memory. But the problem is for both the Wiis when I try to launch the Homebrew channel it says ," This channel cannot be launched on this Wii consoles (reminder it's both) so if anyone has a theory or solution please put it in the comments .
@@Daffyofc Do not move the homebrew channel to the SD card. It will not move back.
i wanna mod my wii to get every free wii game that is fun so my sis and i can have a great time together with our family without the worries of spending money.

I wanna say thank you for showing your modding video from 2021 as it has made storing my wii and gamecube roms on my 2tb seagate portable drive and even getting a better experience like with mario sunshine in widescreen 60fps yes it works so thanks

I modded the Wii back in 2008 not long after team twiizers first came out with the Twilight hack. Was so fun to mess around with and I learnt a lot about computer systems!

I'd like to see a USB loader GX tutorial as I find that app to be the most key. Having the ability to run GameCube and Wii games from downloads is what the Wii was mainly all about
There's like 7 different ways to do that besides usbloader.

I've gotten a really cheap wii recently, normally was planning to sell it for slightly higher and be done with it, but seeing this convinced me to mod it and use.

where are yall finding cheap wii’s at? the ONLY cheap one i found was for $40 on amazon but everywhere else that has that price has like 10-20 dollar shipping with it 🥲 like wtf

I recently bought a Wii to relive some classic Wii games such as Wii sports, Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. However, a lot more than that happened..
Instead of Mario Kart Wii CTGP, I would recommend Mario Kart Wii Deluxe, a mod that has double the tracks that CTGP has (480 tracks!) and all of the retro tracks! Here's the trailer: th-cam.com/video/jGysZcX7bKk/w-d-xo.html

My homebrewed Wii all the sudden decided to stop working today. I pushed the power button and it turned green, but that was it. No display or audio came through, the disc drive didn’t even try to read the disc and never turned on, and the Wiimote can’t even connect. I have priiloader installed, but I can’t even load THAT even with the power button/reset button method.
It was working perfectly last night. The only thing I installed yesterday was CTGP, which had been sitting on my SD card for quite a while. There was an hour worth of updates that had to install, but I’ve never had trouble with CTGP at all on my other Wii. I’ve tried switching different cords/TVs/Power Cords, nothing is helping.
Any help would be appreciated. Hoping this isn’t a permanent brick and can be fixed somehow.
One thing I wanted to point out with HDMI adapter I found out when I bought one that it's not perfect what I mean is it works great for Wii games and some other types of games but when I try to say use the virtual council for an example and play some games from that library I would do is get a black screen and I found out that it only works with the AV cable when it comes to that so if you do get one of these and you get a black screen or you can't see anything just all of a sudden that could be your problem too so even though it sounds like a great addition it doesn't always work with everything

GUI Format on Windows is great for larger memory cards to make them Fat 32. I use a 128 GB myself for Nintendont. I am not even using a USB right now.

Greetings. Thanks for making vids on this. I am thinking of getting a used Wii and then modding it. One question I have is this. Is there any way to bypass using the Wii Remote and the IR bar? What I would like to do is just use a Wii Classic Pro controller to just navigate around with. Any thoughts suggestions would be great! Thank you.

great video.. i have an all black theme on my Wii dashboard. but you need to be careful when dabbling with that.. also deleted some old the system channels that ill never use. again... if you dont know what your doing you can brick it.
Hi, what version of priiloader are you using ? I saw it contains 480p patch and region free everything in one list 👍
What do you use to forward your channels? Also do you have any tutorials on forwarding homebrew apps to Wii channels?
You can dowload the wad files which let you install channels but make sure to follow the right tutorial

It was already modded back then. After starting it up a year i ago, i saw that the external usb drive wasn't working anymore and the Homebrew channel wasn't working too.
I researched some modding stuff in the web after that and modded it successfully with Homebrew and the usb loader gx.
It worked fine for a while. But since a few days, the usb loader can't read wii roms from the usb drive.
Any ideas for me for researches?

You should make a tutorial on how to forward regular homebrew apps to the wii home screen. I tried to figure it out but I with crap and wiigsc but nothing made any sense. That could be a great tutorial!
how big should me sd card be? Is 2gb enough for homebrew applications, and a 64gb usb stick for wii games?

Just a heads-up, it looks like your Wii's GPU might be starting to go. I can see the telltale shimmering dots in the bottom center of the screen on the homebrew browser from 3:18-3:40. This eventually killed my original launch Wii, which I had to send in for a replacement. It's caused by WiiConnect24, which basically turns on the system without running the fans.
You might want to think about finding a more recent one, like the red model. They run much cooler!

I have nintendont myself and I've had a couple of games that just don't work properly. Thug2 ( Tony Hawk's Underground 2) and Mario Party 6. I'm wondering if I'm using bad roms or are those particular games just not made to work with emulation

how did you have space for so many wii apps? like the kirby tv, the wii room, the delivery and the others? i patched the everybody votes, mii contest and the nintendo channel and my system was full even though i didnt have a lot of other things
Quick video request for ya. There’s this Mario Kart Wii mod called Mario Kart Wii Deluxe, and version 6.0 is coming out either in late-April or sometime in May. When it comes out, can you make a tutorial video on how to install it onto a Wii console?

Man, this looks like a good setup... I only recently figured out how to mod my Wii to play Wii backups (I'd bought 2 or 3 Wiis a few years back, as they had non working DVD drives and we're sold as parts for $2-$5 each, one set of power/video cables, controllers, sensor bar etc cost more than the 3 consoles combined)... Are there any good recommendations for external HDDs or large capacity USB thumb drives? Or for any good tutorials that are a bit more in-depth than this video? Sorry for the long comment, and thanks in advance.
The biggest recommendation I have is to not use USB flash drives on the Wii if you plan to boot games from them. The Wii hates flash drives, and I've had no less than 3 just break because I was using them with the Wii to boot games. Only use a hard drive for booting games. As for hard drives, I'm not sure what the best ones are, but be aware that if you go for larger capacities you may need a Y cable to provide enough power for it to function.

I modded my wii once, but i unmodded it because the rooms kept corrupting so there was no point in it because I would keep losing save data. I'm buying a couple games off my friend soon so I should be fine

My first modded console was my new 3ds xl. Sadly my mom sold our wii years ago and bought me an xbox 360 (this was for sure around 2011-2012) and I really don't want to have to buy a new wii for $150 and dont even get me started on how expensive the ones with gamecube compatibility are.
Im using wii2hdmi & component cable but the pictures looks crap even after setting it to hdtv setting.
Looks blurry and wash out.

I had a similar issue when my Wii's screen setting was set to 480i. So make sure it's set to 480p.

Maybe its your TV because mine is crystal clear also check your plugs or you might have a faulty unit

So I recently bought a modded Wii to play Pokémon Colosseum and XD, but I’m having trouble on how to play and download other things. I don’t want to mess anything up since I paid around seventy dollars for it. I’m just really confused on what to do. I went to where the games were and played Colosseum, I’m just confused on how to download and play other games. Should I also not update the Wii?

#1, I have tried to use Nintendont's wide-screen, and it usually doesn't fill my entire screen. Do you know anything in the settings that might be useful.
#2, Where did you get Sonic CD?
for #2 There's 2 methods for this.
The first is to play it using Genesis plus GX but I wouldn't recommend it because it is a bit laggy (the game, atleast in my case) and needs more steps in order to play it.
The second is far easier. You just need to get a copy of Sonic Gems Collection (gamecube) (came after sonic mega collection) and Nintendont. Sonic Gems Collection is collection of the more rare sonic games sega has released. Have fun!

@@gdminus1726 Genesis Plus GX is very CPU intensive for the Wii. But i installed it on my PC through Retro Arch and no issues.

Its more like a collection but i guess it is a series. The older newogames need a bit more work.
Can you check if Wii can support a game called PokeMMO when with Linux/Windows on it?
In any case even with just this it's potentially the definitive retrogaming console, it just needs to improve Wii/Not64 a little bit

How good is the experience with Nintendon't ? I mean I know that it is not an emulator, but It is as good as playing from an original Nintendo Game Cube?
The HDMI adapter wont give you 1080… its still 480, but allows for 480i instead of 480p… so it still does something… but the ads make it seem likes it is an upscaler.. it even mentions 1080p.. defiantly worth getting though for $9.xx
