How does the fresh pair compare to the 120 miles in safety yellow pair - is it noticeable? I tried the Edge+ on and was very impressed but failed to secure a pair online but v keen to get the Edge Paris
The supply and availability is so frustrating isn’t it, I look at supply levels in the asics website most days and these things go out of stock as fast as they come it.. you have to be lucky but there seems to still be some availability of the edge in this new colour on sportshoes.com . The FF turbo plus holds up really well so honestly, they don’t feel noticeably different after the mileage I’ve done. Super responsive and turn your stride over really quickly. I think the edge is so underrated. 👍
Lets say you have a scale of softness, could you rank the following compound please: - ZoomX of Vaporfly - Light Strike Pro of the Adidas Pro 3 / Evo SL - FF Turbo+ of the Superblast v2 - FF Turbo+ of the Metaspped Paris - FF Turbo of the Superblast v1 - ... your favorite compound here...
Scale 1-5 (1 firm to 5 extremely soft) Vaporfly - 5 Adidas pro 3 - 3 Superblast 2 - 2 (includes FF blast plus) Metaspeed - 3 (firmer but super responsive) Superblast 1 (I didn’t have this but I have the matafuji which has ff turbo mid) - 3 The most fun is zoom x I think, but you have to love a soft ride to enjoy them. The FF turbo+ is a brilliant combination of a firmer ride that is responsive and bouncy.
@Runningonthemind thank you for your info. I'm gonna get the Metaspeed Edge Paris hoping its FF Turbo+ compound much softer than the FF Turbo of the v1 ... I have superblast v1 that has 150km on it and the midsole is still not as soft as I wish it would be. So I skip the v2
@ the superblast 2 is way more versatile than the edge Paris. For me there was a no better option for long distance training and tempo runs than the superblast 2, but for faster efforts and races the Metaspeed edge (and likely the sky too) are better.
@@Runningonthemind for 3-h long run + some Marathon pace, my ultimate weapon is Prime X strung v1. I much prefer the softness and bounce of the Light Strike Pro compound in the PrimeXStrung than the FF Turbo in the Superblast v1. With the superblast v1, after a 2h long run, the bottom of my feet kinda hurt, & I dont get this sensation with the PXS. Im among a few that dont fall in love the superblast for long run...
@ fair play - I have the x strung 2 and I’ve enjoyed them a lot, but imagine they’d feel heavy for anything over a half marathon? Based on what I’ve heard, the superblast 2 is more comfortable than the V1, but not significantly different as you mention. How about the zoom fly 6? I’ve not run in them but they are getting favourable feedback from some reviewers who I respect and know aren’t gifted them.
Doing a similar thing to your metaspeeds, getting a second pair for race, and my current pair "demoted" to speedwork Actually, doing the same with the superblast, a second pair to bounce off them both. Basically for everything thats not race/speed God bless Asics: this was the ultimatum i made a few months back, immediately after my first run in them.. im tired of "experimenting" with new stuff, i just wanna train and race
That’s sounds ideal to me. It would just be nice if ASICS kept the stock levels higher so we didn’t have to wait to so long to get hold of them. I do think asics quietly stand out for quality and performance for sure 👍
No doubt the Metaspeed Paris series are top of the line racing shoes. I have both. I prefer the Edge for shorter distances and the Sky for longer runs.

I assume with the flatter plate in the sky they maybe a little better for marathon distance than the edge, but both are likely as capable as each other for most distances. If have the Vaporfly and Alphafly which share similar characteristics of how the plates differ. Looking forward to getting the chance to compare them directly in the next few weeks 👍
Ah man, sorry to hear that. I agree the heel area is very narrow, so not a good option for somebody with a wider foot profile. I did get a slightly sore ankle when I first started wearing them (my first pair) but quickly got used to them. Did you find a good alternative that worked for you?
My understanding is not that the metaspeed sky paris is better or that the metaspeed edge paris is better or faster. Rather, that they are different and designed for different types of runners. So, while Eilish McColgan might prefer the edge because it suits her and the way she runs, but another world-class marathon runner might prefer the sky because of the way that athlete runs.
That’s fair, and I agree. Maybe I didn’t make that point but that is actually what I was saying, one isn’t the fast or better, it depends on the owner and their style. I don’t have a personal opinion on the difference yet, but my pair of Sky arrive today (hopefully) so in a few weeks I will be able to share some differences. I’ve only had the chance to run in the sky once so far but on first impressions I completely agree with you 👍
The sky and the edge are the same in terms of how fast they are, depending on what type of runner you are and how well the shoe works for you
