Fun bits missing in this documentary: When IWillDominate got banned, Imaqtpie was also about to get banned, but Scarra convinced Riot that QT was autistic, in order for him to escape the ban hammer. Allegedly Digs worlds run was sabotaged by Dyrus who leaked Digs strats to the opposition. After underperforming in Top lane, Dignitas wanted to cut KiwiKid but QTpie convinced them to instead move him to the support role. Scarra retired because he felt he couldnt perform at the top level anymore. QTpie retired because the LCS and Dig moved into a more "serious" direction and QTpie only wanted to play with "friends" while being on a competitive team.
I mean on the second point, it's not much alleged about it. Dyrus did leak the strats and you can see the enemy team in dig's game pinging out their early game jungle pathing before they do it iirc. DIG probably weren't going to win the whole worlds run but leaking strats certainly had an effect.
COUPLE OF ERRORS MADE: -Voyboy left Dig before their trip to Korea, I talk about it after -The King of the Hill series was hosted by WellPlayed (not "Rampage") and actually started while Dig was still Rock Solid -The picture I use of CoreJJ is actually Ruler and not CoreJJ cause I'm a big dummy lmao -IT WAS COLLUSION LUL
The thing I love about the old version of Dignitas, is that they were a group of friends that played league together, and coincidentally were really good at it. They were always joking around, having fun, which made league itself look like a fun game as well. They were what most people who play league want to accomplish, being great at the game while also having tons of fun doing so.
Exactly why Dignitas is always my favourite esports team. Watching players like Voyboy, Qtpie etc all just tear up the competitive scene while messing around and having fun as friends...It was contagious. I bought an esports jersey from that era and I still love it
thats what old generation esports was all about, man. you get some friends together and just see how far you can go. there was a time where it wasnt a solo adventure. people who didnt live it/see it will never understand how special the start of esports was. i am so lucky to have a father who was connected to it when i was young and i got to see all these evolutions from the world championship being held in smokey basements in front of 10 people to packing out stadiums to watch cs or league. it was a special amazing time. i am so PROUD of where esports is today, and i pray for it to have a long healthy life and become intertwined with society like tradational sports. but i will always miss the start. you had to be there to really understand why so many 40 year old men still get emotional when they see a classic SpawN clip today lol. it was truely a different time.

Every single one of the 8 friends in my group quit league not too long after and slowly fell apart. Pretty depressing when you watch videos like this and realize how far league fell in just being a casual game with friends.
I'm super new to league, like level 25, but i could instantly tell that league's community seems alot less fun loving and way more sweaty than even other esports titles, like rainbow six siege, and csgo. like toxic teammates even in norm who think they know the perfect way to play and anything but has to be scolded. I can't say you see that behavior in any other game nearly as often. In a game like siege i could probably get my team to go full recruit and rush with shields in ranked, probably even higher ranked like plat if i got a good team. i don't think i could get a similarly stupid play even in norm in league. i haven't really played much tho so maybe lower ranks are just toxic
@@Drewzdev It's been like this for a long time where if you try to have fun in league, someone will just play the current most overpowered champion because this game is now more fun to win than play and Riot balances on what makes money. I can't believe there was so much of their history I missed. Didn't know one of my favorite casters, Jatt, was in Dig before now. I guess I should be thankful that I took a break from League right before the end and I hope the new Dignitas can capture the spirit of the originals. Looking forward to the next one! God bless you, Gbay!
1:01:50 That's the best description of the Esports charm I've ever heard. Most of us who watch esports were probably never physically strong enough to play on varsity sports teams and were made fun of for loving video games. In esports we get to see people who are just like us become the heroes, which is much more rewarding than watching a popular jock that always gets what he wants win the NBA. At least that's how I see it.
Regarding the whole losing later in the season: Alot of great players and teams do this when theyre just a great team but dont adapt to what's around them. If you lose early youre forced to adapt or die, youre not really forced to do so if you do well. I think this becomes doubly clear when you mention that the management of Dig was poor; It is often the management or team captains job to look at other teams and counter them. If they didnt, Dig could only keep doing their best while being countered by teams forced into a corner. Also, thanks for a great video!
I grew up watching EU and NA LCS, I've been watching this since TPA smashed worlds in s02. And man i couldn't hold my tears when you started talking at 1:01:25.. There was no one who would be involved in Esports and hate this team. They were the brightest team ever who would bring joy and smiles to everyone and i'll hold the memory of those days forever in my heart
It was so much fun to watch them play as a team and also individually on stream. Each one of the original players had such a nice personality, that you couldn't do anything but like them and root for them.
Damn, i've been playing this freaking game for really long time... I remember liking that old S2 roster a lot. This brought me a lot of memories... Thanks for this Gbay99. Also, that last part about "Weirdos at Esports..." stuff really hit me...
Gbay, I'm glad to have finally come back and started watching your videos like this. I was an avid viewer back in Season 5 and 6 and loved the content you made, specifically stuff like this where you talked about the history and sides of things that I never got to experience, having only started playing League in Season 4, and not paying attention to competitive till Worlds of that year. However, I stopped playing League as much towards the end of Season 6 and beginning of Season 7 and especially stopped watching your content when you focused on the Road to Diamond stuff, since it was like all League youtubers started making that same kind of content and clickbait and stream highlights and it stopped being interesting. However, I've started getting back into League more and ended up watching your G2 video and this one and I was really happy to see you had returned to making quality informational content again. Your videos are fantastic and I can confidently say, even if I stop playing League again, I'll keep watching your videos.
@Gbay99 years and years go by, and the content is still awesome, keep crushing it man, bringing back alot of old memories for us long time fans of the scene.

Great job with this video as well Gbay! Thanks for doing one for my favorite team when I started playing League, with Scarra as my favorite of the team.
Do you happen to know the song that he uses ?
This doc is really, really great. It's so nice to see league's history, remind all the glory names from that era, great job
It is amazing that most of Dig s1 s2 players become important influencers of league of legend after departure that no other team players did.
This video is so good. Getting emotional. You're doing amazing work Gbay!
Huge wave of applause to you Gbay who made a 1-hour long documentary about LCS. It must've taken a lot of time and effort to make this video

I love your content so much, been watching for years and I just appreciate all the hard work and love that’s put into your content! Keep working hard!
Crazy video, i hope you loved making it as much as i loved watching it, i never watched much esports i was like 13 when these guys made it and didnt even start playing till i was 14-15, but this video made me "nostalgic", thanks gold ebay 99 euros
I just love your LoL documentaries, seriously.
Myself being Italian, Esports is a thing I only experienced way too late.
I know most of the people you mentioned because of twitch/youtube, I knew they were pros back in the days but this was just amazing to discover and it’s all thanks to you and your beautiful storytelling.
I love you man, keep it up!!!
My ideal morning routine, sitting down with a fresh cup of coffee to watch a fresh Gbay documentary
Really well done video Gbay! I was starting at my screen all teary eyed at the end just because of how well you made this. It really felt like you took us on a journey with the team/players throughout their history. Can't wait for the next documentary!
Qt alone save me from sad times. Watching him just laugh it out whenever he misplay something put happiness in me. So glad that he is playing league again.
Can't believe I watched a 1 hour vid of a team I've never even heard of without skipping and now made me respect them a lot
guess who's ditching the zoom class
name checks out
The best part about all of these Docs is Gbay makes you FEEL like you lived through it. I really wish I was playing league at the time to follow this team, being a fan of all their old players, post Pro careers.
He makes you really feel like batman.
Damn, i didnt know that Jatt was Dig OG, that's cool
I am so thankful to get to relive the events and happenings in that fashion with beautiful details and passion for the early days. The Players and the journey they went through so far deserved such a great masterpiece. Love it
Watching those ads so my mans can get that sweet ad revenue
Same.
This' such an amazing video. I'm really glad to see these long format videos for league that cover it's history. I hope you're doing well gbay!
Started watching really early, 4 mins after its release. Now i am 1 horu in the future, happier and the like button has turned blue. GG Gbay
Don't follow league anymore, but glad this popped up in my recommendations. There was truly something special about the early days of Rock Solid and Dig, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Same boat. This was awesome
Well said. Well made
Thank you so much for all the work you must have put into this MOVIE, really appreciate it.
Never knew scarra was such a chad.
Just kidding, we always knew.
Thanks Gbay, once again letting us roam through the pure bliss of nostalgia. I hope one day a TH-camr can make a great video on your history with the game too, from the Art of war series to today’s documentaries
I'm 15 minutes in and I can already tell this is going to be one of my favourite youtube videos
Been watching these historic league videos for awhile now, and I gotta say it is satisfying to recognize names from previous videos and recollecting on who they were.
i'm still a big fan of them, especially qtpie and scarra ... my biggest life goal is to meet them someday and just hug them.. such great guys
Game 2 vs CLG in the regional finals was one of the first competitive League games I watched, and oh boy did it have an impact on me. I was a Dignitas fan for a very long time because of that game. Thanks for the video - it's great to see a lot of the history that I missed out on.
another hr long one u know its gonna be good
So glad you carried on making these documentaries Gbay, they get better and better!
I like the part where he says "Team"
Truly a worthy watch all the way through. Thank you for putting in the time to make this
"corejj" and he used ruler's image KEKW
One of the best League of Legends documentaries I have ever seen! Congrats for such a deep thorough research, excellent narrative and exceptional footage.
How do you consistently make such good videos
Holy hell, this like many of your others brought so much emotion from hope and nostalgia to reminders of things that I forgot to remember.
i'm a simple girl. i see a gbay video, i click.
Thanks Gbay, once again letting us roam through the pure bliss of nostalgia. I hope one day a TH-cam can make a great documentary on your history with the game too
So this is true, Scarra has always been the good guy
Your getting better and better Gbay. Amazing video
Not gonna lie, I cried in the end
Gbay, I've been watching your videos since 2013 or 14 i believe, and just seeing a new upload from you brings me incredible joy, Thank you!
"its 3am, i should probably go to sl-" as i watch this entire 1 hr video
Maaaaaaan... It just happened to me.... -______-
Man, I haven't played LoL in years, but your documentaries are always so incredibly entertaining! I really appreciate them.
Rank 3, thinks he doesn’t have what it takes. Damn.
This vid still so good
Thank you so much for bringing us this documentaries. I was a big fan of Dig when I started watching the competitive scene because, as you so rightfully state, I loved their personalities and only Unicorns of Love had brought me the same feeling that this guys gave. Hope they will get a documentary of their own one day altho it's probably gonna be short one. Thanks again for your hard work.
1:01:55 "Might not be much good at anything in real normal life" *shows a picture of imaqtpie*
qtpie won Domino's pizza streamer of the year. It's okay to just say your jealous. Did he put on a tux for the award? You bet he did, the plain white shirt tux of a homeless man.
Excellent video GBay! You lost me briefly at 14:03 when the team name changed from "Rock Solid" to "Dignitas" without explanation. Maybe everyone else knows why they changed their name, but I don't. Thanks again.
I'm here, Gbay!!! :D
Rock Solid and the early days of DIG is what got me watching competitive League of Legends. So I guess you could thank them for me sitting here watching this 1 hour video over a decade later!
Can't wait theScore esports to make " How one team save League of Legends " video
