I fell in love with SK Gaming and ocelote back in the days. Loved to watch them. And i got heartbroken, when it was over. So heartbroken that in fact I would lose interest in League alltogether - focusing on other parts in life (girls and parties). Much later, a friend invited me to watch the 2019 Worlds with him. He was happy that an EU Team managed to get into the final and his happiness sparked my interest so we had a little watching party. I didn't know much about the team and even the game was completely different due to its graphics and gameplay changes. But then, at some point there was this guy that go interviewed. I had forgotten him already but at this special moment, it all came back to me. He had this joy in his eyes. This man was ocelote ofc and I still remember how happy I was for him. Realizing he made it to the worlds final and fulfilling his dream - not as a player, but as a team owner. Couldn't have wished for a happier ending for a player I once loved.

This brought back so many memories as a young kid watching these early tournaments and how much league progressed, you're by far the best content creator in the entire League of Legends TH-cam scene.
It's so weird that this game has been going on for so long and still going on strong that we can look back and say I was a kid when that happen while some of us are starting families of our own. Never thought that I would play this game for almost 10 years and at this point maybe not as much anymore but going online and playing with the same dumb-asses I meet in HS all those years back and still bonding over it is something that I cherish and will never forget. Even though Riot Games has tried real hard to make me hate the game.

42:20 there is something extra tragic that is not mentioned here, I remember vividly watching that game live. You can CLEARLY hear Ocelote yell "somebody should stay! Somebody should stay!!" many times as his team storms down mid lane for the win (if you look up the clip it's still on TH-cam), but sadly it seems the call was ignored for too long. Olaf only recalled as he saw Kassadin TPing to the base, and he makes it to the fountain barely as Kassadin enters the base, catching him already at the nexus. Had someone actually stayed from the beginning, he could have catched him as he was tp-ing in, possible waving some extra crucial damage. The tragedy is Ocelote would be massively made fun of for actual years, a play he predicted would happen, but the team ignored :(
well why didnt he stay behind himself then? his elise wouldve been the best answer for the tping kass for she couldve followed his riftwalk with her e and oneshot him with her nonskillshot q
@@kevinstrife7854 ur kidding, right?? This is old Kassadin, he had a point and click silence that would negate any chance for Elise to do anything, not to mention his absurdly high base magic resistance at that moment. There is no way an Elise could have done shit. You could have potentially left Cho behind and match him at the entrance of the base, not at the nexus when he’s already hitting it, and it would have been a completely different story. But the thing is there is no real option to match kassadin’s absurd rift walk (which was twice the range at that moment) and Tankyness.
I'm actually started to watch esports because of G2, I'm kinda new to this game and esports games at all, playing and watching only since second half of 2019. I'm so lucky to find this team! Thanks to Carlos for creating such a great team, fan for now and for a long time, wins and loses doesn't matter much, but I'm pretty confident in them with this roster especially, even if other teams improved pretty much since last year, but so are we. Let's get this wins, Carlos!
As someone who started playing League back in like 2010~ I remember watching all these events unfold and the title is so true. People hated Ocelote and I always felt like a lot of it was unnecessary. But at the end of the day, Ocelote came out on top I feel like. This video shows really well what a lot of passion, hard work and dedication can accomplish. Really well done video, and I really hope Ocelote enjoyed this vid.
It is completely unnecessary but the internet reveals just how toxic some people are though. It shows just how determined this guy is. His team is much better then the one he had been in
I'm a late comer to play LoL (2015) and to watch the professional leagues (2018). But is in someway the fans' rivalry between Fnatic and G2 some sort of heir to the Ocelot - Xpeke rivalry ?
I think him finding perkz after pro play retirement is one of the biggest changing points in EU LoL history. Without that, who knows if perkz even gets the chance he got, that made him become probably the best EU player of all times, G2 finaly becoming the 1st worthy rival to fnatic. Amazing story and thanks for making this!
To be honest everyone knew Perkz was the guy. I remember him from when he was 15/16 and joined Millenium but barely could play because he had to go to school so they had to kind of let him go . I followed that team because I watched the French stream of some of their players, and every time Perkz could get the time to play, he was super dominant.
@@Cancoillotteman Maybe not started, but played in Millenium very early in his career. They had a pretty hilarious combination of prospects: some people who became French influencers and others who had insane pro careers. I don't remember the support, but the top was Gob, the jungler Shaunz, the mid Perkz and the ADC Kobbe.
dont forget TSM Chaox, who got replaced after partying too much and being drunk or hungover on practises.. even sometimes didn come without saying anything^^
"They assume that they are the smartest person in the room when it comes to decision making. They just have egoes that prevent them from admitting when they don't know something or admitting that they're wrong... But Ocelote has somehow managed to avoid these pitfalls". SK Gaming used to be Shroet Kommando, a german Quake World(Quake 1 multiplayer) clan that then became a very successful Quake 3 clan and from there the CS scene took over and it later became SK Gaming.
Well done. I cant believe I sat through an hour watching a story about a game I havent played in over 6 years. Ocelote is one of those people who just sticks with you. His passion and his will to win is so incredible. He was actually never as skilled as most of the people he faced. He just thrived of tournament play, and his passion lifted him to greatness so many times. Just like you said, when the schedule became like a job, his edge was lost. Its nice to see him succeed behind the scene. He definately earned it. And great job on the video!
hahaha, he should be hated for good reason though. Honestly a mediocre player, and yes even back in the day he was mediocre. Comparing 5$ to a penny, sure the 5$ looks better, but its still 5$. Regi got lucky with the best NA import of all time, but the cracks are starting to show up as of late. But hearing from past players, TSM staff, its clear his garbage attitude was more than just on the RIft.
@@MushfiqueBinHossain I think you missed the point. The title of this video is wrong as fuck lol Reginald is the most hated player by far and Ocelote's not really even generally that much disliked tbh.

I think the reason for some of the viewer's hate for Ocelote was a bit downplayed in this video. Ocelote at some point was actually a pretty toxic player in solo queue so much so that he actually lost an account, this fact was only glossed over in this documentary while it was highlighted even by Riot's own youtube channel in the past.
Stories come full circle if G2 wins Worlds 2020: -They take the cup on Chinese soil as vengeance for when LPL won in European soil last year. -Ocelote finally gets to lift the cup 10 years after his great rival xPeke
China and korea scarier this year than last year. And china gets 4 teams now too..Pretty sure its gna be TES, FPX, IG, JDG and T1, DRX, GenG/Damwon. Eu has 4 teams but G2 is really the only good team followed by FNC that seems to choke a lot. Madlions hyped and yet to prove themselves more.
I have never watched a documentary that had this much suspense. Did not want to watch all of it today, but could not close it. Such a good video. Proud to have been around since S2.
I didnt know the story of Ocelote and now, watching this, it can only make me wonder what was the feeling he got during quarters and semis of World's 2019 in Palacio VistaAlegre in Madrid when we were all chanting his name while he ran thru the place minutes before matches started. I'm so glad to be present in that piece of Ocelote history for him, he deserves it, he really was able to make wonders!

Mizu there was an ls incident with sky where ocelots refused to pay ls and called him a faggot so ls leaked scrims and shit and sky just paid ls everything ocelots owed him
i don't HATE Ocelote but here's why i don't trust/dislike Ocelote: in 2014 EU challenger series, G2 wasn't doing all that great. At least compared to Ninjas in Pyjamas, which had a pretty insane roster at that time. The most famous players were Alex Ich, Freeze and Nukeduck but a lot of their success was helped by their very talented jungler, k0u. In the early games, NiP dominated the games with incredibly high KDAs on their carries. At some point however, the team started frequently misplaying, doing questionable calls and losing. k0u later left the team to join Ocelote's G2. Freeze then provided some insight via a facebook post explaining why their later games were looking so bad and turns out that most of their efforts were sabotaged by k0u. He mentions changes of attitude, including refusal to communicate during scrims, doing solo actions which backfired and the result of this was just feeding the enemy challenger teams. The sudden change reportedly started occuring shortly after k0u's meetings in G2's gaming house. This could all be on k0u. We can no longer ask him because he sadly commited suicide last year. Nevertheless, Ocelote poses as a very shady figure in this scenario. He may be a passionate player and he cares to reach success through hard work for which i respect him, but he is also a businessman and that's not exactly a field for sportsmanship. That being said, nobody is flawless and I may be biased because I really rooted for NiP back then but I also wish Ocelote and G2 the success they have reached since. Europe winning the worlds was amazing even for me and I don't even watch the competitive scene anymore.
Holy crap, the quality exuding from this video is insane! I went into this video having little knowledge of Ocelote, but this documentary kept me invested in his story all the way through. Keep up the good work man!
Gbay, I just gotta say, as a fan of League since Season 1, your videos provide two awesome things for me. First, nostalgia. I got into pro League around the S1 championship and I love rewatching some of those amazing moments that define the game. Second, context. I'm primarily a fan of NA, but I know a thing or two about the other regions. Despite this, you're able to provide awesome context to all these events, from old reddit posts, to video clips. As a former WoW player and with a great competitive spirit, this video made me cry. The evolution of this wonderful man is nothing short of amazing. From a good arena player to owning one of the best, if not the best team in the world. G2 has always and will always be the team that takes out all the emotions from me, whether it's joy or sadness. Thank you Gbay. Thank you for making such great content that we can enjoy in this rough conditions. Keep up the great work!
I remember that backdoor, I was watching that game with my friends and when everything happen, we were speechless, we couldn't understand what happened, we felt bad for Ocelote, but after he came with G2, I knew they were made to achieve things he didn't even knew, he is one of the main reason I keep playing league, sometimes he can be a douche, but he is an amazing person and take care about his players

Him and Froggen were propably the reasons for me becoming a mid laner. I wasn't invested in e-sports back in season 1 but it is so interesting seeing the strategies ( champs, roles the champs were played in and builds ) and players. It's funny seeing Dyrus and Doublelift playing Soraka and Blitzcrank bot lane together. I never knew they were on a team together and the same goes for many others.

Been watching the LoL pro scene off and on since 2010, primarily EU and NA. Never understood the Ocelote hate. The guy's emotional, puts his heart into everything he does, can play/coach/make business decisions. He's the type of pro we need in esports. Saw the second loss to Fantic with XPeke's Kassadin moves live, and saw the pain oozing from this man. I haven't watched much in the last 2-3 years, but it makes me happy to know he took the time he needed and came back to a gaming scene he loves. Thanks for the epic documentary :)

Not exactly, losing to G2 during both 2019 tournaments ain't exactly his highest. It is honestly hard to find professional sportsmen (e-sports or physical-sports) who trully retired at their top. The two examples I can think of are Nico Rosberg and Alain Prost in Formula One, and Zinedine Zidane came very close to the perfect exit off football in 2006, one headbutt close...

Same man I was 18 now I am 28 time flies fast
Yeah too lol

@@daisychain5125 Perkz started in a French team ? I didn't know that !
@@Cancoillotteman Maybe not started, but played in Millenium very early in his career.
'League's Most Hated Player'

So basicly SK Gaming lead by Ocelote had a sister team renamed later to Fnatic lead by Xpeke. Then Ocelote and Xpeke left their teams to form new organisations Gamers 2 and Origen respectively. That's impressive.

Stories come full circle if G2 wins Worlds 2020:
-They take the cup on Chinese soil as vengeance for when LPL won in European soil last year.
-Ocelote finally gets to lift the cup 10 years after his great rival xPeke
Thats some crazy anime storyline shit right there.

Mizu there was an ls incident with sky where ocelots refused to pay ls and called him a faggot so ls leaked scrims and shit and sky just paid ls everything ocelots owed him
He was extremely controversal. Xpeke just had a bigger fanbase, thats why it seemed that they hated ocelote
i don't HATE Ocelote but here's why i don't trust/dislike Ocelote: in 2014 EU challenger series, G2 wasn't doing all that great.

Not exactly, losing to G2 during both 2019 tournaments ain't exactly his highest. It is honestly hard to find professional sportsmen (e-sports or physical-sports) who trully retired at their top.
