"is Marin Happy?" "Former League of Legends player SKT1 MaRin is Married" LET"S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I mean I doubt he’s that happy. Korean pros don’t get paid jackshit and he dropped out of Highschool which is really bad in Korea. I doubt he can live the rest of his life off his worlds skin but maybe? Edit: actually he streams, so he probably makes a good living off that.
Really glad to see someone cover MaRin. He definitely gets overshadowed by the SKT organization and even other SKT top laners like Impact, but he's doubtlessly one of the best. One thing I would've liked to see in this video, though, was the 2015 SKT vs CJ Entus spring playoffs series, a set that went to 5 games MaRin ended up saving by being the only member of SKT to have survived a team fight and teleporting behind CJ (who were barrelling down mid lane to end the game) and killing their minions, resulting in SKT winning a pivotal game vital to them winning the playoff title.
never thought he gets overshadowed by players like Impact/Huni/Khan or even Duke because ppl still named SKT2015 as the greatest team ever existed. and also SKT/T1 fans til this day still remember about Marin and wish someone can play up to his level in that 2015. They still want to find who is the next Marin for SKT/T1.
@@OMAR-vk9pi How so? He's only ever praised for his 2015 season, so in what way was he over rated? Did you watch his 2015 matches? Or are you just talking shit...
I think Marin was a player that needed a very specific team environment to flourish. I think SKT was one of the only teams that was able to provide him with that suitable environment and allowed him to be the great player that he was. SKT was also very patient with Marin, and still believed in him even through the tough losses and frustrations. Teams that Marin went to after his time in SKT simply could not sustain a suitable environment for him, or were not patient enough to keep him for the long run. You cannot have SKT without the legacy of Marin, and Marin cannot have his legacy without SKT.
Alot of it had to do with the coach at the time. Kkoma is one of the most prestigious e-sports coach in Korea and he had a very good character. He was kind, humble and patient and he really drilled his team on importance of team chemistry.

Alright Gbay been a fan for a while now and I love these documentary videos you make on players that didn't really have a lot of recognition. I love Marin as well and really hoped he would have stayed in T1 for longer. The only gripe I have about this video is during the 2015 MSI between T1 and EDG. You played the narrative off as if T1 were completely outskilled the entire series when it was an extremely close finals. And that Game 5 deserves it's own video as well, because it was actually EDG who baited T1 into picking Faker's (then) undefeated Leblanc, in order to counter his pick in particular and shutting down most of what Faker could do around the map. Yes in that series both Bengi and Marin didn't perform great but they were by no means considered less-skilled especially considering how young that roster was at the time. Other than that love the videos hope you keep it up my guy
Whenever you're down Gbay, remember you do not have to believe everything you think and you are not your thoughts. Felt the need to share this. Keep up doing what gives you energy!
Hey GB, watching you since 2015 I am happy you went through all the tough times with ad revenues and the little chaos that became you. I remember how worried you were, I hope you still stream from time to time.
@@Dirk-kun yea if korea never lost players they wouldve been the best region forever I am pretty sure. Even if u see NA and LPL all their best players are all imports
Acutally I think it was a good choice. Yeah, he couldn't find success as a player, but as in the film was said. The careers aren't very long, so he earned a lot of money in China and found happiness afterwards with his wife, so he can have a good life now with the Chinese money :)
I wish Marin stayed with his home countries team despite me being Chinese because I like the feel league has with people of a nation rooting for their teams, kind of like a world cup. But at the same time I am also happy he is making more money and securing his future financially.
Really good vid. Brings back good memories. 2015 Spring was when I started watching lck. I was a CJ Entus fan. That Bo5 series vs SKT in Spring was a heartbreaker...
Amazing video. Also a lot of people may not know this, but Marin is one of the only two people in challenger who's over the age of 30( the other is Kotae who's the best irelia otp in kr)
I love these videos and even though they arent popular at the moment i have a good feeling you'll pop back into the spotlight for the community. You're leaving behind a legacy people can appreciate for years to come
Ngl the year he left skt was probably a hit or miss if he never left he would've helped skt win that year again cause the meta that year was thw juggernaut meta where top laners can solo carry games given the chance he should've never left skt but you know that's life
I dunno if I've ever said this but you've almost single-handedly gotten me into league E-Sports and it's really interesting, even to my bronze ass lol. Thanks for sharing the cool story.
As to that claim or assumption about MaRin's toxicity during the MSI, I think it's true because Bengi recently stated on a reality/interview show that Faker and MaRin frequently shouts and argues.
theScore esports already covered why SKT lost to EDG last game and it's because they hard countered Faker's leblanc making his leblanc super vulnerable during team fights. Other than that, everyone expected that SKT vs EDG was going to game 5 easy.
And the sad thing is that eventhough faker is the one that is being countered, he is still the one that's playing good in that game and his team is feeding left and right
That bo5 at MSI 2015 between skt and fnatic is to this day probably the best series of this game I've ever watched. Remember watching it live because they were both my favorite teams out of their respective regions. It did not disappoint.
The man who made me fall in love with league again, remember that year was a tough year for me. My parents divorced and I needed to go with my father to study, but the new city had really shit routes, so I couldn't play league. When he was carrying faker back in the day I could finaly play, but it was so bland, i didn't understood the new jg ( i was main jg and sometimes top ) but everytime this man played i was there, i wanted to watch more, for me the only and one top laner. People talk a lot of smeb, but I didn't even know who the hell is smeb because of him.
FINALLY SOMEONE MADE A LONG MARIN APPRECIATION VIDEO!!! 😭 MaRin is so underrated and oftentimes gets overshadowed by Faker but one thing we should know about this guy is that he's a great leader and shotcaller. His decisiveness and ability to remain calm against formidable opponents and tough matches made me admire and love him as a player. It's no surprise he's the only top laner who has won the Worlds MVP. Thank you, MaRin for bringing SKT T1 to where it is now. Edit: It's funny to think how MaRin, known for being a rager in CCB becomes so calm when he became part of T1. It shows how he's grown as a person in a right environment and management.
he is not overshadow by faker, but in 2016 he join other team, and in that team he can't do his best, while faker achieve his 3rd world champions, don't use faker as an excuse marin underrated, cause marin in 2016 not underrated duh. And the fact he decide to stop being pro player is no one fault. And the fact faker is still aktive after 2016 is not faker fault
Dude, this shit had me having some crazy nostalgia. Flashbacks to this team not losing a single T2 on World until Smeb went full split with Fiora in the Finals...
SKT as well as all the korean teams merged their teams as riot dont allows teams all over the world to have sister teams at the same level of competitions. Talent was never a problem for koreans. Riot got this rule out due to korean teams by having stable sister teams would create a lot of in house tactics which was actually too strong for other regions.
24:36 This game was literally bait for Faker and his LeBlanc because until that moment he was undefeated in his entire career with LB. Pawn and whole EDG did really good job there :) Anyway, really nice documentary. Even though I was at that time really hooked to league I didn't know some of the information, escpecially from MaRin's CCB career. Thank you for this type of content :)
2015 skt t1 will always be the best team ever, whenever a lane is losing, the other two lanes will carry the game, that's why they almost never lose during that summer split and worlds
At this point of League of Legends, the game started to be won through the meta, so, you couldn't depend only on a player to win it all, in the World Championship 2015, it was a top meta for the most part in the individual role, while the other aspect was the lane swap that needed a right tempo to snowball out of control, so, of course, MaRin had to carry, it was his duty, meanwhile at that time, Faker had to play champions like mid Lulu. Also, these days, it's all about your whole team performing, mechanics and individual performance can only take you until a certain point, your whole needs to contribute in their respective roles in the meta, in order to win it all, sadly, Riot's marketing strategy, it's keeping pushing the idea of super stars, franchise players, so, the credit doesn't go where it's due.
I love your documentary videos, specially waking up and finding one in the sub box. To be honest I personally don't play League anymore, regardless of that, I do have many fond memories from the time I did play back in the day and seeing these videos makes me relive the good times. I am glad I was there. Thank you for the hard work and keep it up man!
All of the names of these pro players gave me nostalgia. It reminded me of when i first started watching competitive league. I was watching EDG vs SKT inside a internet cafe and the people beside me were screaming during the teamfights. Fun memories
Just to emphasize how genius was the Game 5 draft from EDG at MSI 2015. Faker at the time was 10:0 on LeBlanc. LB was his comfort pick, his series winning pick. But EDG knew that and they made sure to bait Faker to pick her and then to neutralize her with their draft (mainly Morgana mid, but also pre-rework Maokai). This truly 5Head strat (and of course its great in game execution) was in my opinion the main reason EDG won that Game 5. It was truly a shock to see Faker lose on his signature champ.
Thankyou so much gbay. I've waited for so long to have this content / video of my Favorite player of all time Marin and im shocked that we had the same in game attitude / emotion i think thats why i like him a lot as a player since then. The first league tournament i watch is the Worlds 2015 and thats the time i see him but i felt so sad when he left. I even argue with my friends saying that smeb was the best of all top players even though marin can't keep up anymore. He's still the best underated top laner for me.
I don't play a lot of League of Legends, but I come constantly here to see if you have uploaded a new video, because these documentaries are state of the art, and in a great way has an impact to keep learning English language. Totally recommended.
Easyhoon is nobody to be scoffed at. He's one of the people Faker admired and respected the most. He's also the reason why Faker is dominant with mages because of his influence, dubbing him as the best Azir player to have ever walked in the Rift and Faker had to grind so hard just to try and get to his level. Easyhoon is super dominant on mages, Faker was on assassins like Zed, Akali, to name a few.

Hey GB, watching you since 2015 I am happy you went through all the tough times with ad revenues and the little chaos that became you. I remember how worried you were, I hope you still stream from time to time.
If only Marin didn’t leave to LGD ;-;
Chinese teams offer millions a year they had to leave xD
@@햔-m7n can’t really blame him for chasing the bag, but imagine what could’ve been if he stayed with SKT
But at the same time I am also happy he is making more money and securing his future financially.
bro i've been a marin fanboy ever since 2015, but not a lot of people knew him, thank for making this video!
This legend is finally talked about.
I got chills multiple times during this video because of all the amazing memories that came flooding back to me.
Great job, keep them coming :)
I started playing League because of him, I miss him in the rift. I will love you forever 💗
Really good vid. Brings back good memories. 2015 Spring was when I started watching lck. I was a CJ Entus fan. That Bo5 series vs SKT in Spring was a heartbreaker...
I wonder where is the guy who posted on reddit saying Marin, Bengi and Wolf werent ever going to be world champions lol
glad to come back to this after back to back worlds mvps were top laners
Amazing video. Also a lot of people may not know this, but Marin is one of the only two people in challenger who's over the age of 30( the other is Kotae who's the best irelia otp in kr)
I love these videos and even though they arent popular at the moment i have a good feeling you'll pop back into the spotlight for the community. You're leaving behind a legacy people can appreciate for years to come
Marin and Kingen now hold the distinct honor of being the only top laners to win MVP at Worlds :)
Ngl the year he left skt was probably a hit or miss if he never left he would've helped skt win that year again cause the meta that year was thw juggernaut meta where top laners can solo carry games given the chance he should've never left skt but you know that's life
They won worlds the next year with duke.
Thank you so much for taking the audio out of the Tyler1 clip 😂😂
I dunno if I've ever said this but you've almost single-handedly gotten me into league E-Sports and it's really interesting, even to my bronze ass lol. Thanks for sharing the cool story.
I feel happy after this, thank you Gbay, did my guy Marin Proud
his fiora was INSANE. the man was a freak of nature. probably the best top laner SKT ever had
As to that claim or assumption about MaRin's toxicity during the MSI, I think it's true because Bengi recently stated on a reality/interview show that Faker and MaRin frequently shouts and argues.
T1 is just one Bengi away of winning worlds
This is too true
I wouldn't say that. Maybe "of qualifing to worlds"
@@slowtyper95 T1 has a 75% winrate of winning worlds with Bengi.
@@HanyuuHOLO no it isnt. T1 looks terrible they need way more than a decent jg lol
@@thedragonruffy4023 isnt it 100% winrate? 2013, 2015 and 2016? T1 didnt get to worlds in 2014 and bengi was off team in 2017.
Crazy to believe he’s now Team Liquid’s coach, best of luck Marin!
The current SKT now is way stronger. Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, Keria. They all carry potential. It's like fighting 3 faker in every lane.
theScore esports already covered why SKT lost to EDG last game and it's because they hard countered Faker's leblanc making his leblanc super vulnerable during team fights. Other than that, everyone expected that SKT vs EDG was going to game 5 easy.
It was Faker's undefeated LeBlanc too!
Wow someone else appreciates Marin, fantastic I thought I was the only one
Many people say bengi was better
he is not overshadow by faker, but in 2016 he join other team, and in that team he can't do his best, while faker achieve his 3rd world champions, don't use faker as an excuse marin underrated, cause marin in 2016 not underrated duh. And the fact he decide to stop being pro player is no one fault. And the fact faker is still aktive after 2016 is not faker fault
Your story telling is so good Gbay
Marin still plays, he is so underrated.
Not professionally.
do you know if he streams?
he used to stream in twitch before he got married. one of the comments above said he's now on afreeca tv
@@ebi8903 oh shit thats whats up
so crazy that they have short span of fame, but will still go down as legends
2015 skt t1 will always be the best team ever, whenever a lane is losing, the other two lanes will carry the game, that's why they almost never lose during that summer split and worlds
im so glad you wrote about MaRin, he was majorly under appreciated. He was the veteran commander
I dont even play league anymore but your videos are the only league videos I still watch. Keep it up, love the Content!
Now in 2023 you can remake this Video. The top laner that carried faker, T1 Zeus
Holy shit. When KKOMA walked into the booth in a T-shirt @14:56 was the first time I realized ive never seen KKOMA not in a suit.
Me and my friends have always agreed on Marin being the best toplaner SKT ever had, he was at the same level or higher than faker in 2015
I love your documentary videos, specially waking up and finding one in the sub box. To be honest I personally don't play League anymore, regardless of that, I do have many fond memories from the time I did play back in the day and seeing these videos makes me relive the good times. I am glad I was there. Thank you for the hard work and keep it up man!
Finally people know how godly Marin was that season. Literally best player world back then.
I just saw the beginning but i remember when they hired Mariin, he was considered one of the top 3 best toplaners of all the game at that time.
Any chance you could do a profile on Zeus and this years worlds?
All of the names of these pro players gave me nostalgia. It reminded me of when i first started watching competitive league. I was watching EDG vs SKT inside a internet cafe and the people beside me were screaming during the teamfights. Fun memories
Love the content, my dude.
Comments for the almighty algorithm!
Kingen and Zeus now join Marin in being the only top laners to win MVP in Worlds :D
Marin starting every match no matter what reminds me of Keria mot gonna lie
I don't play a lot of League of Legends, but I come constantly here to see if you have uploaded a new video, because these documentaries are state of the art, and in a great way has an impact to keep learning English language. Totally recommended.
Whoa that was unexpected player 😯😯 Hvnt watched the video, but I know it will be great 🔥🔥
Easyhoon is nobody to be scoffed at.
Already know it’s gonna be a banger
now T1 produced 2 mvps who are top laners
Now its Zeus carrying faker
Lmfao t1 was a great team. No one player carried. But there’s no question faker did the most for that team, not Zeus
This type of videos are my favorite from you
Covering the story of a team or a player is so interesting
I really appreciate when it’s about retired players, because the players that are still playing are still writting their stories
