- In 1979 this Porsche Turbo had an impact. It was fast, expensive, and known for snap oversteer. In stock form it made about 280HP, but boost was a waiting game. This car has had some period-correct mods done to it, bringing the total power to around 400. See the full mods list below.

That guy was SHOOK. Could not stop glancing over at the speedo and tensing up in the turns.
These old ones were know for lift oversteer. Would go off the turn backwards or sideways if you let off gas in a turn. Know as widow makers.
Dude was definitely driving more aggressively than Matt, and without the downshifts. I actually enjoyed that, because that just showcased the engine's torque.
There's a good reason why these beauties are called 'Widowmaker'.

But a few of us got a ride in his personal 1978 930. Turd brown but very Very VERY fast.
We were 2 hours away from school out ‘learning to drive’ my best friend nailed a chicken, No swerve and NO comment from the coach.

Beautiful car, I was lucky enough to see a silver one on a track day not too long ago, a 1979 Porsche turbo. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm all for museum cars and maintaining historical cars with low/zero miles but most vehicles should be taken care of but also be used and driven, especially sports cars such as these
I don't normally like the 911 turbos but this car is awesome. I have a thing for the NA air cooled cars, you can't beat the sound of a flat 6 screaming.

I'd say there have definitely been different trains of thought on suspension/traction over the years. Look at World Rally cars from the ol' days... Group B and so on... they looked like they were sprung with rubber chickens, rolling and pitching as they went. Today's rally cars seem to be "planted" in comparison.

9:10 I think old racecars were always setup SUPER stiff. Im not an expert just my opinion. but you can always see them bouncing in any video. Even this weekend when you watch them going up goodwood versus even something that's supposed to be stiff like the modern F1 cars. you can clearly see them bouncing up and down. Absolutely no compliance in the suspension. I think since the technology wasn't there to have the flat cornering so they stiffened them to up to keep the cars from going full '70 Cadillac Deville floaty.

930 or not, to me it is yet another Porsche that looks and sounds like all the rest. So sad that apparently the only choices for buying a sports car is: 1) Porsche and 2) Porsche.

I have. A Boxter S. It was a great drive, perfect and flawless. But it did nothing for me. Clinically brilliant, but no emotion. Plus, everyone has one. It is the Honda Civic of the sports car world. I live on a golf course, and the lot is practically filled with Porsches.

I can and I will. They are both Porsches. This channel has reviewed seemingly 250+ Porsches. It wears after a bit. No doubt great cars, but too many and too little difference between them to really care.
