Had my Ariel Atom serviced there a couple of times as the Ariel factory were quoting several months waiting times (pre-pandemic) and always found them excellent and competitive on pricing. Lots of interesting exotics (including supercars etc,not just Nissan GTRs) to go and browse around while you wait for your car to be done. MM

I read recently that the 78 930 was tested by a US magazine when new. The numbers they got were over 250 HP AT THE REAR WHEELS. Even accounting for less loss because its an aircooled rear engine car, (no water pump or driveshaft) that is impressive considering the factory claimed power for the US model was 265 HP MOL. But this would probably not be the first or last time that Porsche was "conservative" in their claims.

Great video Harry, regarding the speedo, I think it would be difficult for anyone to ever assume that this modification had been carried out.
As an ex-Porsche tech, I would advise to fit a cover of that “brilliant idea” of the three uncovered fuses in the rear left of the engine bay. There isn’t a Porsche cover but I recall they are available from several Porsche specialists in Germany. There is also a cover for the relay board, another Porsche “brilliant idea”.
There are numerous “brilliant ideas” on the 930, it’s just amazing that within its 15 year lifespan, they were never rectified, as virtually all could have been done at zero cost (the car was expensive enough…)
They range from electrical items in the line of fire from road spray, to the atrociously designed fuse box under the front bonnet

Your Spanish trip video inspired me Harry and I’d like to thank you. I’ve been driving around Spain and Portugal for the past week, aided by the Michelin map you recommended and enjoying the scenic routes through national parks and gorgeous countryside. I also took a ferry across the Bay of Biscay, Plymouth to Santander, and I’ll be staying a night in a Parador hotel as recommended by you. The roads here are glorious and as you reported they’re so much quieter than UK roads that one can really enjoy the drive rather than always feeling hemmed in by other traffic. Once again, many thanks for the inspiration.

What a brilliant machine Harry, some genuine 934 DNA in there . A lifetime ago here in Australia a good friend had an ‘83 930 with the full Kremer conversion made available through Porsche Cars Australia . If memory serves the cars was around $185K , the Kremer kit an additional $50K. Cams,Bigger turbo, adjustable boost knob between the seats, delete clock -add digital Kremer boost gauge, exhaust that looks ostensibly similar to yours, massive inter cooler and modified whale tail to accomodate it . They were few and far between and had circa 400 hp like your beautiful car . Life changing for a 13 year old whose weekend job when the owner was away, was to reverse out into the street and wash it . One of life’s best memories .

The best engine mods you can do with a 930 engine is a Porsche 3.6 crank (to make a 3.45 engine, with correct Mahle pistons), twin-plugged heads, GT2 cams, matched ball-bearing turbo and a Motec or similar engine management system. Hand-fabbed exhaust. Individual throttle bodies if you are a true nut. I've done all but the last. 512 hp/467 ft-lbs to the wheels at 1.0 bar on pump gas. With a bunch of supporting tranny, clutch, brake and suspension mods. These cars are real platforms for stupid power on a light body, but handle with care. You can tell by Harry's voice how much he digs the raw, analog feel of this car...

This is a great car video again from the wonderful Harry, more so because Harry has my dream car - Porsche 930 turbo S in sport red.

Great video as always Harry. In my 1973.5 911T I've found the best way to heel and toe is; foot comes off the floor, ball of foot on the brake, and stab at the base of the throttle pedal with the heel (rather than the side of the foot rolling over to the throttle). Hope this helps. Another observation, its remarkable how the 930 Turbo engine revs so quickly from 4000 to redline. Have to be ready for that with a quick shift!

This and the Jag Coupe are my two favourite cars you own. That 911 just looks perfect and in the ideal colour too. The red always looks nice with the black accents on an old 911 turbo.

I sold my modded 930, K27 hybrid, 964 IC, cams etc. she put out 354/358 RWHP / RWTQ! And linear power delivery! What a ripper, sold her to fund my 911T to ST build!

That’s a very special piece, Harry. Can’t wait for more content on it. Glad you’re planning to keep it. Definitely the right caretaker.

I have a serious case of the wants. Beautiful machine and I’m smitten with the Ruf wheels. Great Sunday evening entertainment, it’s what I watch while preparing the Sunday roast.

Such a beautiful model the 930, color, trim etc. with that detail from the 934 cylinder heads and 1200 pounds, incredible. Beautiful retro car. Sell it to me!

Love this car, to me that's just what a Porsche 911 should look like, and that low down growl from the engine at the end was icing on the cake. Hope to see more features on this car

Another fantastic installment! Watching this just down the road from Weissach, which is fitting. What a great 930 you have - must be just about the perfect road spec, all the mods combining harmoniously to make a car improved in every way.
    Just wonderful!

Love the sound of these old air cooled 911 turbos. They have a real gruff growl/snarl to them. Plus it is proven that cars that shoot fire are better than cars that don't. It's science!

An old 911 Turbo breaking down, gee - perish the thought of that…. Hah! In all serious, I’m glad you firstly are well, and that your 911 was undamaged. Keep up the good work Harry!

Thanks so much Mr.Metcalfe for sharing this video and the previous two videos about this very unique Porsche. It has been most fun to watch you discovering more and more about this special car's history. Seeing it in use traveling into Spain and bringing such excitement to you rather than used as a display only is wonderful! 👍
