As a retired plumber I always fitted a backing/strengthening pad under the bath taps to 1) make sure the back nuts would be completely tight when run up and 2) make sure the bath rim would not flex when operating the taps.

I just love to see your eldest daughter being really helpful in every video. her learning that she can do whatever she sets her mind to (despite beeing a girl - I hate society for that mindset) is so wholesome! and she matured up so fast. I am really impressed how she manages, also with the lambing last video. Great girl! girls! of course all of them are wonderful!

Yes everything is so wonderful now, modern society in the west will tell her she can be a boy now

Some great points on the full bore and flow rate of bath. Learnt something new. Thanks!

Our double ended bath was the same, waste drilled 15mm off centre. Complained to the store, who checked the warehouse and found they were all like that! Gave us £200 off and I managed to find an over flow cover that was much larger and fit it off centre to disguise the mistake👍

Does it allow for tiles overhanging the side of the bath?

Panels should come down on top of the bath with a seal band around perimetre and then silicone. Only thing stoppjng water this way is the silicone seal

Sometimes, sometimes enclosed toilets are the worst purchase.... an old plumber used to just fix these to the floor with silicone, job done he would say...

Loving the 3D Twister game that you played to mark the board out in the bathroom 😂

Known in the trade as a “point and hope” toilet as you never quite know whether that flexi connector has stayed in place when you push it back to the wall 😂!

How about an unusual placement of the taps: In the inner corner, then you can sit down at either end of the tub without banging your head against the tap?!

Not only stinking, sewer pipes can have carbon monoxide in them.
    Love your work 👍

How has the seal between the bath and wall panels held up ?? I intend to fully strip out and panel my bathroom with 8x4 panels then fit the bath up to the wall . Alot of people frown upon this saying the panels should come down onto the bath . Im planning on squeezing the bath into the walls with a good amount of silicone around the sides that touch the wall then once in position fully seal around the perimeter and finish off with a profile tool. As long as there are no voids in the seal i can't see there being much of a problem and wonder why it's not recommended .

Did exactly as you describe. I would tile down to a bath but finishing walls with full sheets first worked great and with the amount of silicone between bath and wall when fitting it, there is not really any chance of a leak. Also no need to scribe panels at bath ends.

I think you should of added a big slice of marine ply under the legs of the bath, spreads the weight better! on top of the flooring

It’s an above ground system from Marsh. It’s smaller than most but great in our situation.

Be wary of the flexible sagging . . . ours slowly sagged and opened the seal to the soil pipe - solved by making a wooden block under the flexible to support it and keep level. (It did take a while to twig where the smell was coming from!)

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Sized this one up so its not flexible/extended at all once WC is back otherwise it would be more of a concern. 👍

Too late now, but when I’ve fitted those types of panels in the past, I’ve used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade, cuts straight with no shattering whatsoever. 👍

I did top and bottom in the end but just wanted it super clean where it is butted and siliconed against adjacent wall. 👍

Lucky for you guys you don't have any boys 😀 That unsealed toilet on top of the floor would become really nasty quick. I guess caulking around the base is a no go if you have to be able to pull out the toilet to turn water on/off.

How is the water proofing done here? In Oz we would need a painted membrane up all the walls and across the floor to the floor waste under the final finishes

How about a mirror, toilet roll holder, cup holders, shelving and the all important heated towel rail??? Maybe a bit more lighting too, it does look rather spartan. Also can you really have an extractor fan so close to water like that, it seems an odd place to have it.

Turned out that any more flow and our boiler wouldn’t keep up anyway. Definitely 22 from a vented system though.
