    Hello, I really enjoy your videos, you make complicated work possible even for amateurs, the way you explain is very helpful. You are unique because you always emphasize actions that people usually have difficulty with. Thank you

    Great advice with the Backer Board. NEVER ever use PVA to prime walls in a bathroom. SBR is what you use. And when i'm about to tile onto Backer Boards i mix up some powder adhesive a bit wet and scratch that onto the surface with the flat edge of a trowel. Backer Board is dry and dusty so good prep is essential. And be careful of the dust, wear a mask and open window.

    Always do baths this way. Am amazed at tilers reactions as why wouldn’t you?

      13.30. ...From my experience most baths have the tap mount-holes in them so that 'wet-wall' batten would stop you from installing your taps and connecting to the water pipes? If you see what I mean.

    Aren't you supposed to joint and tape the joins in the cement boards using skrim tape and adhesive? I've recently subscribed and enjoy your content 👍

    James, just about to build a bathroom upstairs so we can knock down existing bathroom for extension build. These videos are great, I am going to build my walls tomorrow and use your ways of tiling. Seems such an easy way especially around bath.

    Absolutely spot on, even the luck where the tiles lined through over the cistern, love it, all in the prep work. Top man.👍🏻

    Wish you'd done this one about 8 months ago😅 I got my bath level in the end... I chose to tile over tiles which went well. I primed the old ones with Mapei eco prim grip which I found to be a great product. New tiles stuck and stayed stuck

    Sound mate I do this aswel! Except I do leave the bath in to tile. Always a ball ache to do the tap end with timber so I sometimes do a leg instead so I can get to the bath taps. Can I ask why the 22mm hot and cold?

    Great job as always - Quick question, would you not tank the board first, I always tape and tank just to be on the safe side, also I see you use a lot of those plastic sheets on the floor, what are they called? And can adhesive go straight on without primer? Thank you

    • @getbry7452
      @getbry7452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Walls in a shower area should always be taped and tanked prior to tiling. But this is backer board so not really necessary.

    Hold tight, quick question. Had a plumber come out to change 2 rads. He’s used 10mm plastic and both are leaking on the lockshield end out of the thread from the elbow. Think it’s speedfit. Should he have used ptfe tape or does the plastic still use an olive ? Unsure

    • @Tom_Plumb_PHS
      @Tom_Plumb_PHS 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Compression fittings on speed fit work the same as on copper with an olive. The only difference is you have to use an insert to stop the plastic pipe deforming. Try and tighten it slightly if not you might need to drain it and check if there's an insert on there. Add some jointing paste or put some ptfe tape around the olive.

    You're just the guy you hope is going to turn up and do your bathroom! Someone with the attention to detail that you'd give a job, as if it was your own bathroom. One question about the tiling to the bath, I notice it's quite a snug fit, I've always assumed that you should leave at least a few mm, for a decent silicon bead to go in there. You just sealing this with a standard silicon line when finished?

    • @ianmcbain898
      @ianmcbain898 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The bath already has the fall built in at manufacture. Thus there is no need to do anything other than what was shown in the video. Hope this helps.
