    Loving it, keep with it on the sprayer..... it's not easy is it ;) Just another tip... the knots on your woodwork... get yourself a rattle can of Smith & Rodgers BLOCKADE - white shellac sealer primer. It's brilliant to stop the knots coming through.. give a couple of spray coats from the rattle can, gives an even coverage.. it dries quick too.

    Following your initial videos on this sprayer, I bought the same model. I’ve added a “whip hose” which is less stressful on the wrist when using the gun, I have also added a couple of tips (TT3 517 and Fine finish 208 - you need a new tip holder for these) and always use a gun filter. The last lot of paint (brand new trade emulsion) constantly blocked the tip without the gun filter, I then got through 20l without a single blockage. I’m about to finish taping and filling my loft bedroom ceilings, then it’ll be painting time 👍🏻Also, have a play around with the pressure. Find a scrap of plasterboard / blank wall, start with low pressure and gradually increase it until you get a “clean” edge to the fan, you’ll be surprised how low the pressure really needs to be with watered down emulsion (10% water).

    14:40 It’s good practice to thin down final coats at least 10%. I’d also recommend straining the paint first or you’ll be forever turning your tip to unblock it. The amount of bits in paint nowadays is unreal. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    That's the way to do it Tim, saved yourself so much time, as apposed to using a roller, and you get over spray with that. 👍

    I just sprayed out my basement today. Great minds... I've had my sprayer about 10 years, and it's a champ. After I run water through it to clean it, I suck a mixture of paint thinner and 30W motor oil (5:1 ratio) into the pump - displaces any water and lubes the pump. A friend of mine who's a pro painter gave me the tip. When I use it next, I'll use water to get the lube out, then load it with paint.

    Also tip... Put a cover over paint, I used to strain it into brand new bucket. Saves tons of time overall. Get hair in the trigger and irs bloody pain. Had this one and a big commercial one when I done building work.

    Hello Tim and Jo and the girls, loving the channel, Im really enjoying the content especially the cabin build, because its something I’ll be doing myself next year.
    Which brings me to my question
    Do you own the copyright to the plans? and if so have you thought about selling them?
    What your creating here is similar to what I imagined for my cabin build, it would be great to use your plans as a guide

      No but it could be done. Probably need to use a compressor setup rather than airless. Worth trying if you have enough to do, maybe run a brush over last coat to give a more traditional look of needed.

    Sprayings great, I just have one of the air sprayers but if I have an empty room nothing is faster even with masking windows and wot not. Probably down to my lack of painting skills but also with spraying I get a much better finish.

    Tim - that must be immensly satisfying -- suddenly all the rooms are painted and the place is transformed.
    Did you speed up the spraying action by x2 or x5 . . . or was that the real speed the paint was applied ?

    14:08 - No need for the rubber glove. Just pop the gun in a bucket of water. On another note, when you’re finished with the sprayer run some “Pump Armour” through it (just the machine) before storing. You won’t have trouble getting it going again the next time you use it. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    Looking great, you’ll have a better finish in there than most homes! Out of curiosity, do you not need to use a drywall primer before applying paint? I’ve always mist coated plastered walls but was under the impression that a primer was needed for drywall. Best of luck with the rest of the work!

    • @ComeWhatThey
      @ComeWhatThey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it's only "recommended" when painting to prevent moisture damage to the plasterboard from splashes and condensation, but often your paint will do that anyway. It's a lot more critical if you're wallpapering, because if you apply wallpaper directly to plasterboard without primer then that bond will be stronger than the board itself, so if someone comes along and tries to strip the wallpaper in future they'll have to destroy the boards to do it.

    It looks as though you are using Wickes Trade New Plaster paint - how effective is that at covering the Easifill plasterboard jointing compound?. I used Leyland Trade Contract Matt White and found even after 3 spray coats you can still see where the Easifill is when light hits it at an angle - so giving a poor quality finish.

  • @freddieleethompson3536

    7:40 - You only really get overspray when your pressure is too high. I noticed you had lines in your fan pattern. The paint is either too think or the pressure is too low. It can also mean a worn tip but you haven’t done a great deal spraying with it as far as I know. It’s not important on a mist coat but it will affect a final finish. Just something to watch out for. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that line on the right I assumed was the tip but could try increasing pressure next coat. Thanks. 👍

      Spraying makes more sense when you're Spraying multiple units and maybe a whole house for a mist coat. It's just the setup and cleanup coupled with the cost of either hiring or buying a sprayer outweigh the benefits. I do this day in day out for a living so I guess painting higher quantities is easier for me than a normal householder. No ceilings to worry about on this job either which makes it all the easier to blast out with a roller. If you're any good there shouldn't be a problem with the finished result.

    • @ttfweb1
      @ttfweb1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Martin-oz6lr It takes 10 min to set up my sprayer, 10 min to clean and lube it. It takes another 5 min to clean my gun. I've painted houses, rooms and cabinets with it - different feed rate and spray tips. If I use a 300 series tip, low flow and a few cardboard paint shields, I often don't need to mask much. Then I switch to a 500 or 600 series tip to pump out a large volume of paint. It took me a while to get good at it - now I spray most of the time.

    Commenting on a video that is obviously days old is not a real aid or assistance but I do - occasionally. So, it seems that your tip is not quite right or you're spraying a bit too close to the wall and the coverage is not overlapping well. Too late now of course ...Watching your videos at the end of the day might allow you to catch that possible little error in your ways ... Sooner. So many providers are guilty of the same things because LIFE happens and they can't do nightly editing stuff. That's OK. I wouldn't be able to do it either I suspect. Even a review during "filming" might help?
