Hi David! That hookaroon is a real time (and back) saver. I’m surprised you didn’t try to out fling Gary and his hookaroon toss. LOL! Sure hope your back gets better! I can relate. I injured my back when I was 16 years old and it has never fully forgiven me for it. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Martin! LOL I don't think I could have topped Gary's performance. :) Yes sir, I'm really liking the hookaroon so far and it really does save the back. My back's not going to get better after decades of use and abuse but I'm trying to keep from making it worse! Thanks for watching, my friend! :)

Have one and love it. Most times wished I had 2. The bite these have are crazy and what I've found is you don't have to sink the hook very deep to lift logs and makes pulling out much easier. My day job is in sports medicine and Dr telling you not to lift over 10 lbs is a generic answer. Please go to physical therapy where they can identify and treat the problem and fix the weak links of why this is happening. At the very least, strengthen core and use good techniques.

How's she goin'? The pic-a-roon is a great tool. I made one too and used to use it all the time, but I, like you, have issues with my back and so I have the young folk do my wood now!!! Pretty lucky eh!!! A physiotherapist told me one time, a back is marvelous thing and will put up with a lot and not give you a bit of stiffness or soreness, then one day it'll say, to heck with you, and give up. Then you can't bend over, twist or even cough without being in pain. It sure cripples you eh!!! Thanks for the video and take care!!!

I have a LogRite hookaroon and use it. I bought dad the Fiskars like yours. You seem to be struggling removing the hook. Instead of pulling the handle away from the log, try pushing it towards the log. When you are pulling you are setting the hook into the log. But if you push it towards the log, you will release the hook. Let me know if that helps.

I have the same one, same model. Presently, you are just starting to use it and are inexperienced. Soon you will learn you do not have to jam it in the end of the log so hard, then when you go to drop the wood into your carrier, just a good shake should make it drop off. Just takes a little time to get the experience necessary to be very quick and timely with it. My back is not too bad at 74 yoa but I figured a few years back why am I having to bend over all the time, and a pickaroon solved this problem. One hour of use and I figured it paid for itself! No more aching back, so no excuse not to continue working! HA HA

Enjoyed watching the video David, our friend Tim from BigToolRack recommended we check it out. We used to do tree work with a similar picaroon until we invented the LogOX Hauler, to lift log rounds and feed a log splitter without bending over and straining our backs. In fact, it's been scientifically proven to reduce back strain by up to 93%. We then added a handle extension and t-bar to replace our old cant hook and timberjack with one modular and portable multiuse tool. Check out this video of it, I think you'd find it useful th-cam.com/video/yeD3q-AxT3I/w-d-xo.html
