  • This video will break down the process and steps involved with getting your own authority. I have always and will continue to recommend finding a good accountant knowledgeable in the trucking industry to assist you on your venture year in and year out. A good accountant will only cost you a few hundred dollars per year to literally save THOUSANDS! Look up the info needed SPECIFIC TO YOUR STATE! This is critical in order to establish exactly what you will need and what the cost will be because every single state is different.

    If I have 1 truck and 3 trailers(car hauler, flatbed, dry van), are they going increase insurance cost for having multiple trailers even though I can only pull 1 at a time or just charge an insurance rate on whatever the most expensive trailer/cargo type that I have would be?

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah unfortunately each trailer will have its own rate. If you have a safe place to store them id recommend just insuring the one you’re currently using. It’s very easy to add/remove a trailer from your policy. If you insure all 3 at once it’ll be a higher rate.

      Grand Oaks Transport it’s literally the best all around. It allows single member, room for growth or expansion from day 1. In Kentucky it costs the same for me to file as it would an LLC. Plus my tax is cut by more than half as it would be llc. Deductions off the board before it’s paid for by taxed revenue. It’s awesome.

    When you do public filings it is best to use a cheap prepaid phone from a dollar store or Walmart let that be your office number. And only give your main number to those who you want to do business with. I've been a contractor a long time and those phone calls get very annoying

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A second phone wouldn’t be a bad idea. I haven’t had mine off silent since I registered it. It just makes some type of noise all day. Very annoying. A separate phone and email address is very handy for that very reason.

    Safety audit? Haven’t heard of that. Is that same as vehicle and trailer inspection? Got my dot and mc numbers. Filed boc3 and driver registration file etc. Also got dot medical card. Shopping for insurance and trailer now. Hope to be on road soon. Excited bout this new chapter of life! Thanks

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah it’s an in depth audit mostly of records keeping and compliance. You’ll get a letter explaining it and you’ll also have to call FMCSA to confirm new entrant registration. You’ll be receiving info on all that soon. Make sure you have up to 2 hours to wait on hold calling in. It’s horrible.

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Percy Scott is personally get 2 machine tarps “D rings on all 4 sides” 20’ x 24”. That way you’ve got full trailer coverage with 6’ tarps and you can turn them side ways and have full trailer coverage with 8’ tarps. All in one.

    What are some advice you can give to women who wants to start their own trucking company?

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t say much would be too different between the sexes besides the lifestyle/hygiene aspect. Almost every truck driver (male) has an empty bottle in the truck for “emergency situations”. Some women may need accommodations that men don’t necessarily have to have which would make staying at a location with no facilities difficult or uncomfortable but not exactly impossible. Just depends on the individual really. Other than try at it’s just a job that pretty much anyone can do if they put their minds to it 👍

    • @LoadMizer

      As long as you’re mechanically capable of keeping it up or know someone who is. Nothing wrong with older trucks if they’re taken care of.

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s right. You will still need to go through this entire process however you would just insure any cheap vehicle. Drop liability to the minimum. You wouldn’t need cargo insurance or anything. You can use this to age your MC as an active authority until you’re ready to roll.

      Shane Strong that situation is different. If you’re not traveling out of state and only carrying your ow equipment you technically should only need a dot number. Depends on the state and the weight of the vehicles. Your local DMV or an accountant will be able to steer you in the direction you’d need to go 👍
