Such a GOOD video. Super helpful. I did not know about wig consultants. When I started out I was so desperate that I walked into a wig shop and promptly spent over $700.00 on two wigs. One marched my bio hair perfectly because I did not want anyone to know I had a WIG on my head. I was so embarrassed about it. The other was beautiful but totally unlike my own hair. After I got used to the fun if it all I could not wait to try more. I watched videos and became educated, found companies that were more affordable and then trial and error. Most helpful are customer reviews with photos, then I can see how very different the colors and styles actually are on different face shapes. The differences are surprising. Two popular companies that are quite reasonable just don't work for me. Color choices are limited and quality is not up to my standards. So I keep on learning and definately watch for good deals. Thank you Denise, for being part of the learning process and for sharing so much useful information on the tips and tricks of successful wig wearing. This series has been very helpful to me as someone well into her 70s, finally making the commitment to deal with my alopecia head on, and start wearing wigs. Aside from the technical information, I really appreciate your words around sensitivity issues. Jump to yesterday, when, for the second time, I wore a wig out in public. (Raquel Welch's Trendsetter wig). I went to my local grocery store, and after one final check before getting out of my car, did my shopping. On my way out of the store, a man at one of those folding tables, collecting donations for whatever cause, tried to get my attention. By calling out, "Hey! Grandma!" I know he was talking to me, because I could see him in my peripheral vision, trailing after me. Sigh. But the breakthrough was, it didn't faze me, let alone crush me. I just ignored him, went on with my day, and I'm ready to go out again today.

Hi Denise, i finally found a wig sister that so honest and im very impressed how detailed you were on all kinds of wig wearers. Ive been wearing wigs about 8 years and i learned more crucial answers to all my questions about the trials and tribulations about wearing wigs. Im so happy i actually stumbled onto your utube. Your are so knowledgeable and finally i found someone thats not trying sales pitches on wigs. You are so detailed on answering pretty much almost all my questions. I started wearing wigs because of all the meds im on and i had no choice to start wearing them. I love the wig journey over the years and my husband just loved me wearing them. Unfortunately the love of my life and soul mate passed away om may 16 2023. I will never give up on my wigs and thank goodness these wonderful wigs came a long way. I live in ontario, 🇨🇦 Canada. My problem is the colour choices.
Hi Denise! I saw you over at SophiaRené Boutique not even an hour ago, and told you I'd look you up. I purchased my very first wig from Rachel a couple of weeks ago. It took me three days to work up the nerve to try it on! In the hand it is SOOOO beautiful and it looked so amazing on Rachel (everything looks good on her! lol) I finally tried it on and thought WHAT ON EARTH!! I looked like I had a lions mane! I am and have been experiencing pretty significant hair loss for several years now so I'm not sure if I'm just not used to seeing myself with so much hair, or what. Now, I am going to watch the videos you mentioned and hopefully end up in a good comfortable place when it comes to all things wigs! Thank you for everything and I am looking forward to learning more from you! 💜💜💜
Hi, Lisa!! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions... I am always happy to help! When someone has been losing their hair for awhile most wigs look super wiggy at first because we are not used to seeing ourselves with so much hair. Finding low density wigs with little to no permatease is what I recommend to a new wig wearer because of this. My email is heywigsister@gmail.com... hugs!

There's my beautiful friend, helping other wig sisters as always! That Jordan is so YOU! This is very definitely an emotional journey. We have parallel stories and timelines in our wig journey, our hair loss stories, so we know all too well! Love ya, Cyn
We all feel this way in the beginning for sure! You are doing the right thing but watching videos and educating yourself. There is a lot to know, but you will get there!
Hi Denise I’m new to your channel! I so appreciate your explanations and the detailed points you make in your videos. Also that you review so many brunette shades!! YAY!😄 I wish I had found you when I first started wearing wigs 3 yrs ago! Still and all I still find your videos very helpful😘
I appreciate information from your videos. I must have already spent hundreds of hours looking at wigs online and watching videos. Yes, some of you make them look effortless and natural. And watching that I'm thinking "hair I've always wanted". But then the occasion of actually trying a wig on my own head makes me feel like I would never be able to tolerate that thing on my head. And I pray again, "please Lord, please can I just have my own hair back"! Then there is the expense! I just returned my orders - one was TWC Curiosity; the other was to Name Brand Wigs for a topper (which looked like a knot on top of my head) and a Silverstone Noriko Alva which I really like except for so much dark gray. They were prompt to refund, but less almost $30! So I have lost that plus whatever TWC keeps, and still no wig. And I know some of you must have hundreds of expensive wigs and a $30 loss would be nothing!! Wow! I'll be 75 in a 3 weeks. And at this age, for me just trying to maintain being presentable is a challenge. I will keep trying at least until I have one that I will eventually venture out in because I can no longer cover my scalp. I should have kept the Silverstone Alva and saved some bucks because I don't see another color that would be closer to my hair color. At my age I don't like today's style of flat to the head, and dark roots that is so popular. So it's really challenging to find a 'fit'. Thank you for your helpful insights.
I did research and thought I was aware of what I needed. I purchased my first topper as a front lace and I still have hair on my front hairline. I was never able to get the lace to lay flat. It ended up being a waste of money. My second topper is not lace front and fits so well. 🎉
The more videos I watch the more I realize I won't be able to get just one wig for the rest of my life... Navigating this whole new area is daunting. I have loved my real hair that I always kept long, but now I am nearly 78 and I have almost no hair left... It just all fell out... so now I have to face the music and try to find wigs in a size for a head less than 21 inches... this is not easy... I am struggling to pay my basic living expenses, but I just bought two wigs online and spent $1750.00 (credit card) on them because I wanted at least one good human hair wig. I hope they will work for me, there was literally almost no choices for a head as small as mine.
@@juanitamatthews107 I bought three wigs... they are all horrible... I paid a fortune to get high quality human hair wigs and I had to return them and lost so much money on return fees... I am just going to keep my thinning white hair and not worry about it. I am 78 years old...
I wish I had found your channel 1st and particularly this series. I bought a hair topper which was a mistake. And now I am educating myself before I buy my first week. I have a virtual consult Friday. Cheers!
I just recently decided to start wearing wigs so that I am no longer damaging my hair with all the different styles that i wanna try. I am so new to this. so thank you for your series. i can t wait to watch more of it.
Welcome to the wig sisterhood!!! Wigs are a GREAT way to protect your bio hair and let it rest from coloring and heat styling! I have seen a thousand fold increase in women who don't have hair loss wearing them since COVID and I LOVE IT!! Hugs!
Great video Denise. I'm basically new to wig wearing. I wore wigs about 4 years ago when I lost most of my hair due to medication. I've stopped that med and some of my hair has come back however it's very very thin. A 3 year old has a better ponytail. Before I wore beauty supply wigs and didn't do much research. This time I'm in for the long haul with plenty of research and shopping better quality at reduced prices. Coming to grips with hair loss has been quite a journey. I am very conscientious when in public, thinking everyone is staring at me and knowing I'm wearing a wig. So far I've been wearing Finn, Storyville, McKenzie, Breezy Wavez, Laura and Skyler. I'm waiting for Orchid in red to be available from backorder. I do so appreciate all your videos, they are informative and helpful.
I am so grateful to have this wonderful community for support and want others to have it as well. I'm so glad you are here! Not glad you have hair loss, but glad you know you aren't alone. By the way, I want to try Breezy Waves in the worst way!! Do you love it??
Hey Denise I wanted to tell you real quickly I had plantar fasciitis in both feet along with Achilles tendinitis at same time I was almost wheelchair bound due to my ms...I found a MD that does shockwave therapy on both feet and with 6 sessions all healed I couldn't belive it I had tried everything it was a total blessing from the lord..I know I'm off subject but I seen something that you were struggling so if you can look into the shockwave therapy I promise you won't be disappointed. Love you biggest hugs! 😘
Im so glad i found you! I made a huge financial mistake by going to hairclub for a mild case of thinning.i heard you mention the 300.oo for a wig..im stuck paying 3900 for a topper service that the stylist damaged my hair, to the point im gonna shave it. I am stuck at this time with no refund! I may sound dumb with this next comment..i was getting the install, and i asked where the hair came from..they were very proud to say the hair came from indian virgins who sacrificed thier hair to thier gods and then the hair is sold for our "systems"..aka a system of slavery to hairclub..lol but..i was struggling with whether to keep trying with them and then my conscious said i cant wear a hair piece that was basically a sacrifice to a pagen god. The belief i have is now that "i know",well "i know" and cant in clear conscience wear this particular piece..i wouldve been fine not knowing lol. I like thst you explain the different types of construction and quality so well i dont feel like im compromising by going with a non human hair wig.❤
I ordered heidi in color 10 on sale and received another color which says 10 but this color is nothing like the one shown on catalogue or the reviews shared by wig sisters. So sale purchase is tricky even
Hi Denise 😊 I’ve been binging all your videos.. one problem I’ve come across is the hair from the wig gets inside the wig cap in random places.. how do we fix this? Also is bad if some hairs from the piece are inside the cap when we put it on? Hope both these made sense :)
I am new to wearing wigs and am really struggling with how to care for them. I would really appreciate some in-depth instruction from daily wear, to washing, conditioning, and applying heat.
Hi Laura! Welcome to the wig sisterhood, I'mso glad you found this video!. Please watch my new Wig Wearer's series, which is the 1st link in the description of this video. Episode 6 talks specifically about how to wash and care for your wigs. I do not really cover using heat on wigs too much in the series because that is more advanced, and it is also only relevant for heat friendly wigs. I am working on a heat friendly wig series that will film in the future as I get more experience with that particular fiber. I had avoided it for most of my wig wearing until recently because they are tricky to care for. Hugs and hope that series helps a ton!
I have regular hair. I love wigs! Just started. I have trouble with the wig caps. My hair is not that long, and it isn't thick. Wig caps slide and end up at the nape of my neck? Also, am I supposed to use glue on the cap and the wig?
@@heywigsister Denise you are truly an angel 😇 on earth❣️ Thank you for all you do💙 Also the color & curls are gorgeous👍 Can you recommend a similar one but a little longer - maybe 13 - 14 inches ... Thank you again!!
I love all your videos, I am fairly new to wigs, shaved my head after watching you and I feel so free. Do you ever review Godiva Secret Wigs. I have 2 of them and feel they are very nice, any opinions about them? Thanks for all you do
Hi, Margie! Unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to try Godiva.... I try to purchase on sale, clearance or the secondary market in order to save money and allow me to bring more variety and their wigs are never really there when I'm looking. I've been asked this before and will certainly keep my eye out.
I too would love to see some reviews on Godiva Secret Wigs. Their channel is another I watch routinely. Would love to get an outside opinion. I love Patti's Pearls channel as well.
MARGIE WIGGINS, l too watch their videos but don't like the fact that they're being dishonest by changing the names of their wigs. For e.g Tori, ROP, they name it SABRINA.
I tried a Gabor wig, GL11-25SS, it was returned to me saying I had torn the lace front. I am 69, the wig is way too dark and way to much hair. How can I resale it too someone that may appreciate it as I just can't wear it. The wig cost over $250.00.
Hello!! Help! I've been following you for a while, but now that I want to search for something specific(topper grips)I have NO idea where to type in my search. Please, what do I do?
I think you can do it if you can find one with a big enough cap size so it isn't tight. Do you know what your measurements are? Send me an email and I might be able to help you. Heywigsister@gmail.com ❤
New here. Also Christian. Yes, first wig and overwhelmed. Have spent hours looking at wigs. Finally got one and am so disappointed. Just found you and did the unboxing video (see previous sentence). So clicked on your channel & subscribed. Looked at the list on your website and was astonished that you listed Paula Young when she has an overall 1.5 stars rating as a business. Too many bad reviews and complaints. Saw many wigs I liked there but then I read about all the people that didn't get their money returned, got charged stocking fee when none was mentioned, etc. Since I like to shop at Hobby Lobby because they have Christian ethics, I don't want to shop at "shady" practices businesses. I NEVER would put Paula Young in the trustworthy websites category. OK done.
Question for you, do synthetic wigs (Raquel Welch) lighten in the sunlight? I know my human hair lightened but was curious if the same is true for synthetic hair. Thank you!!
First, I love your videos, I have learned so much. You are an angel guiding so many of us through a journey we never wanted to be on, thank you. Question, my first wig was purchased April 22, it's Ellen Wille, Esprit. Is it normal to be able to see light through the wig when it's not on? I'm scared people will be able to see the cap but my husband says he can't when I am wearing it. I'm following all my care rules, just nervous.
Thank you so much!! It is totally normal to be able to see light through a wig when it is off your head, especially on a lower density piece like Ellen Wille wigs typically are. No one will be able to see through it when it is on your head. The one risk with a low density, low permatease wig, is seeing the wefting in the back on a windy day. That doesn't happen with most wigs, but can happen, usually with really short wigs that are very low density and don't have any permatease. One way you can test this is to stand in front of a fan and have it blow on your hair like the wind would. You can either do this with someone who can observe it for you or you can set up your phone camera or a video camera and then video it with a fan blowing on it (if you don't have someone who can observe it for you).
Hi! I am 41 and have been loosing my hair slowly for about 15 years. For the last year or so it has become much faster and I can only wear my hair in a high bun to somewhat mask this. I am watching all of your videos before I take the first step to wear a wig in public. I am just wondering if you have tried viviscal? I have tried Rogaine which did nothing. I'm sure you have tried everything but I'm only seeing very good reviews for that medication so was wondering if you tried it. I know even if it works I will still include wigs in my life as I love the way they look and the many different styles there are. Thank you for your time and all your videos and help
Hi! I haven't tried that. Rogaine did nothing for me either and after trying a number of other things I decided that I was finished putting things inside my body. I have a number of autoimmune diseases and didn't need to keep subjecting my already fragile system to more stuff. I've made peace with my hairloss and have better hair with wigs than I've ever had in my life... plus they are fun and way easier than having to style my hair everyday and get it cut and colored regularly. Sending you hugs and wishing you a solution thay brings you peace. ❤️

Thank you for all your videos, I have learned so much from you. God bless and keep up the great work.
I don't know how to say thank you for all your hard work and time. I'm about to try my first wig and I wouldn't have had the courage without you. I'm so glad I found you!
Hi, Alicia! Gosh, THANK YOU! I am so grateful you took time to share this with me. Sending so lots and lots of hugs and love for your journey with wigs... please be gentle with yourself and look at every single purchase as an opportunity for invaluable education. Even if a wig doesn't work for you it is NEVER a loss or a bad purchase, it just gets you closer to knowing exactly what WILL work. HUGS!!
So so so very Blessed to have found you !!!! From the bottom of my heart I Thank You ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!! HUGS!
There's my beautiful friend, helping other wig sisters as always! That Jordan is so YOU! This is very definitely an emotional journey. We have parallel stories and timelines in our wig journey, our hair loss stories, so we know all too well! Love ya, Cyn
Thank you
I want to start but don't know anything and I love your positivity and information
We all feel this way in the beginning for sure! You are doing the right thing but watching videos and educating yourself. There is a lot to know, but you will get there!
Thanks!
Hi, sweetie
I wear white/silver wigs. I’d love to find the baseball cap wig in those colors. 1:58
I’m in denial but my hair just keeps falling out. So, I am going to be forced into getting a wig. I am 73.
Cheers!
Thanks once again Denise your invaluable 💐
Thanks saved to wigs in my playlist 💙🩷🌸🌸🌸
Thank you so much! I am trying to grow out a pixie and am looking to wigs until I get past the awkward stage.
Hugs!
Why is the description greyed out?
Thank you
Great video Denise.
Help how do you shorten the side bangs in cheap amazon wig & thin sides out. Please.
Thank you so much
Your such a empath😁
You are so welcome!
Another great video! Thank you for continuing to help all our wig sisters.
Hugs and blessings,
Shelly
Thank YOU for continuing to be such a support!!!
You’ve come a long way, Denise ❤️. Great idea to film this synopsis video. Great tool for wig sisters to check out your new wig wearer series!
Thank you so much my friend!!

LOVE THIS
I tried a Gabor wig, GL11-25SS, it was returned to me saying I had torn the lace front.
I wear toppers but been thinking about wearing wigs but my head is so sensitive I’m afraid it might give me headaches
I think you can do it if you can find one with a big enough cap size so it isn't tight. Do you know what your measurements are? Send me an email and I might be able to help you. Heywigsister@gmail.com ❤
I’m new to wigs and the dark knots are annoying me. I’ve used the makeup tray come but it doesn’t always hide them.
New wig owner. Not impressed with the wig salon consulting. More confused than ever. Wanting to learn how to love wearing a wigs.
OK done.
That’s amazing Denise! Your popularity on Instagram. Good for you. I will find you there.
It was so random!!
Question for you, do synthetic wigs (Raquel Welch) lighten in the sunlight? I know my human hair lightened but was curious if the same is true for synthetic hair. Thank you!!
Just answered on your other question.
Consult would be so useful!
I've done it a few times now and it has gone really well! It is so nice to be able to take time with someone to really help them.
@@heywigsister should i email you for further details.

Awesome video👍

Me: in denial & hoping my hair will stop falling out.
Facts: it’s not going to stop. I’m pretty sure sure that I have androgenic alopecia.
This all so overwhelming & disheartening to me.😢
