You are beautiful Denise and such an inspiration! I have lived in shame for so many years after having lost about 90% of my hair ( I used to have massively thick and georgous hair) . I decided to step off the edge and begin the process of finding a wig that I can look and feel like my true self in. But it has been so overhwelming- a world I know almost nothing about. I just found you. I’ll be watching ALL your videos. I just started chemo for TNBC breast cancer. I have purchased 2 beautiful and very different wigs. And I am clueless on wigs and wig wearing. Thank you!!!!
Excellent video, Denise. Every person starting out on their wig journey should see this video. This is one of your most informative videos. I am struggling with quality issues with Ellen Wille; and, I mean serious issues. I tried a Cara 100 Deluxe. The wig I received had short hairs sticking out all over the top and the wig looked like it had a 'thinning hair' problem just like the problem many of us are dealing with. I just got an EW, Link, in a light color; you can see the rows of wafts in the back really well. My husband noticed it right away; when I used a hand mirror; I was shocked at this quality issue. I like EW because there wigs don't look 'wiggy' on me; but, do they have serious quality issues, right now anyway. By the way, all three wigs you showed looked really great on you and did not look wiggy at all. You helped a lot people with this one, Denise.
Thank you so much, Lyn... I'm so sorry I missed this comment when you left it. To be honest, I am starting to see quality issues in all the brands. I'm not sure what is going on but it is not limited to Ellen Wille. I wonder if it is supply chain issues, or short staffing issues... it is frustrating with the cost of these wigs.
SUWAT is beautiful on you! RW, JR and Estetica fit me best. I will say that the ear tabs bother me if it's hitting my ear and glasses. I'm 12" from ear to ear and 12" from hairline to nape and 22" cir.
Super thorough, clear, concise and HELPFUL. Thanks so much Denise! I have recommended your channel to other new wig wearers. Much love from New Mexico USA!
Thanks for the informative video, Denise! I run on the small side of average and wear short, pixie style wigs. I sometimes have issues with my wigs feeling like they’re riding up the back of my head because I have a fairly flat occipital bone. It’s like there’s not enough bone to anchor the wig around and under it. 😊 I purchased a Hair Grip this summer and it worked great for a while but now it’s sliding up, too. I know that I could size down to a small Hair Grip from a medium, so that’s the next thing to try. I’ve had fairly good success with Ellen Wille wigs, so I agree with you that they might be a good choice for wig wearers with smaller heads.
I’m very new to wearing wigs and i am struggling with how should it feel, which size to choose, etc. I am super worried it will fly off my head! 😮 Thanks for this video tip guide, it is really helpful. I have so much more to learn. Keep up the good work with your videos because I need lots of tips to become more comfortable. ❤
Hey Denise, love your videos! Just wanted to say that both WigStudio1 and NameBrandWigs have 15% restocking fees. But you can opt to do a store credit instead, but if you don’t use that store credit, there will be a restocking fee in the end.
this is so helpful. I keep buying wigs I think are too small but maybe it's just that it's too new to feel comfortable. Because I'm constantly worried that my wig is going to slingshot off my head! I'm so glad that's how you described it because that's the perfect metaphor. Also, I thought the ear tabs falling just above my ears meant it was too small BUT i wear glasses and it's more comfortable. You really are a gift. Thank you.
Hi Denise! This was such an informative video..... I agrees it does take time to get use to wearing a wig and as time goes by and we get use to it, we learn what works and feels best for us. You look FABULOUS in the "red" RW Straight Up With A Twist! You are ready for fall!!! Thanks so much! XO
Denise you have such a great way of explaining problem with wigs. I myself just found out I should be wearing a petite and not an average. But I am not going to throw away any of them away. There are adjustments you can make it just takes some time to figure it out ,but you learn on the journey. Thanks for the info.
Thanks, Denise! I have a 22 inch circumference with a tendency toward petite on the others measurements. My first wig was a Noriko, which runs small, generally, and had lace covering the wefts at the top, which was incredibly hot. But you have to start somewhere! It takes time, experience and money to figure out what you really like and even then, you’re not done. Just like with clothing and shoes, your needs and desires change over time.
Excellent video, Denise! You’ve covered all the bases and most importantly the individuality of wig fit! It’s so important to manage expectations when beginning this journey and find support to help new wig wearers get through the inevitable challenges. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and for sharing your ‘wig wisdom!’ Hugs and blessings to you!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Denise! Love you! I am subscribed to dozens of popular wig related channels, but you are my most favorite source of wig related content. Thanks, again. Your humanity, soul and spirit help to buoy me.
Oh my gosh, thank you!! You just made my day! I am on a 4 hour drive to move my daughter home from her first year of college... I drove for 2 hours and my 16 year old son is now driving and this is the first message I read! Sending you hugs!
Denise yes each manufacturers sizes run so different! An Average on different wig companies run so different! Ear tabs are important to be bc I wear glasses! Rooted wigs blend with the sides for me so much better! I can change colors a lot if the wigs are rooted bc I am a brunette ! Ordering sizes and colors are a crap shoot if I can say that :) sometimes I can order the exact same wig and both are different either In color or size! Good review very informative! Hugs, Barb ❤
Thank you so much for making this video! 😊 I’m a newbie. I’ve purchased a few wigs, but haven’t worn one in public yet. The part in your video when you showed the 2nd wig where your hair showed by the ear, that’s me! My measurements are 12 1/4” ear to ear, 14” front to nape, and 23” circumference. I’m going to try cutting the adjusters and hopefully get a better fit.
Love the Baby in the Background 😙 This is a Excellent Video! Wish I would have had this info in My Beginning of Hair pieces and Wigs! Hugs My Dear Thinking of you, Have a Great Week😙💕💞💕💞🧡❤️🧡
Valuable information for new wig wearers. I had no idea where the ear tabs were suppose to fall and how that affected coverage. My head size is very similar to yours so I have some extra bulk below the crown. It's good to know that if the look and feel is tolerable, I can consider it ok. Thank you, Carla
Thank you for this very useful and informative video, Denise. I really appreciate it, and I think other "new-to-wigs" people will too. Do you have any experience with the size of Wig Pro wigs; i.e., are they a true average fit, or on the large or small side?
I just came across your video I am so happy because I just got my first wig this week...I have to try to adapt to this new way of life" wearing a wig" ... I don't know how to get over the fact I need to wear a wig because it looks like a wig and not my own hair...I guess it take time and practice...I have just subscribe to your channel Thank you for sharing
Thank you for your awesome video. I am thinking of purchasing a wig and I watched so many you tube videos. I have bio hair but thinning , thank you mom and dad, but I caught covid in 1920 and my hair thin out. It's gotten better with Biotin and good diet. But I looking into low density wigs. But you info finalized and answered all my questions. Have a blessed day
Hi Denise, Im new to the wig world I recently bought my first wig and it’s average cap size and I find it’s a little big. I can’t really tuck the hair behind my ears as the ear tab falls way too low. It also seems to bunch up heaps as I have it adjusted as small as it goes. I’m looking at buying a full lace glueless wig so I can wear the hair up and style it all different ways. I’ve looked up the measurements for their caps and all my measurements except one are the same as their small cap. My ear to ear across forehead is 11.5” where as the small cap is 11”. I’m pretty sure my wig I have now in the average cap is equivalent or pretty close to their medium cap. I’m buying internationally so I’m recalling wanting to get the right cap size first time round as I’m wanting the wig to wear away on holidays and don’t think I’ll have enough time to send it back and get the right size before I go. So any help or advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated thanks Michelle
Thank you so much for your videos. I have just started wearing wigs as my hair is so fine and scalp shows a great deal especially if I don't dye it. Really good advice for anyone new to wigs. Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing so much of your experience - you are helping me a lot! I have been experiencing a lot of what you went through - too much hair on top, too dense and heavy. Feels like it’s riding up or going to fly off. I was trying different colors and getting so frustrated but I am taking your advice and starting with the color of my bio hair. I am following your tube videos. So thankful. .
Denise, you have helped me so very much!! I have only gone with Raquel Welch wigs. I am bad about returns and I can usually depend on RW. I want to try Real Deal next. I have only bought Winner and Power the last two times. I want to try a short bob. I have Lupus and heart problems that cause so many issues and fatigue is the worst and doctor visits are so difficult just getting there..🙄 I have my bio hair cut very short pixie due to severe hair loss. I am saving for Real Deal. I just need to try a longer style so I don't have to shave my neck. Thanks again for your videos. You are such a blessing with your upbeat personality.
You look great in that wig, Denise! I have to say that wigs, too, felt ithcy on my head and they road back on me. Then, I found the wig grip and two-sided tape, and it has made a world of difference. But, I'm still on the search for the perfect wig for my face/face structure. Haven't found her yet. 😞 I have a puny head and it's hard to fine petities in styles I like.
THis vidio was as if you made it just for me! You answered so many questions I have as a newbie! I just purchased RC Flirt Alert which I fell in love with, but never sure of the fit. After watching this, Im just gonna wear it and enjoy it! Thanks so much for helping me gain courage and confidence in this process!
Hi wig sisters! Anyone else struggle with wigs riding up in the back because you don't have an occipital bone or bio hair to anchor? Even my wig grips slip off. I was hoping to find a suggestion or solution without using glues. Thanks.
Hello Denise. I am watching your very informative video for the first time. I love the way the front of your wigs looks so natural. My question is, do you use a wig grip (something that holds the wig on the head) to hold your wigs on your head? if you do what type do you use?
Wish I’d seen this about the return policy checking. Shirleys would not take a return on what I was telling them I was sent the wrong color or that there was something wrong with the color of the wig topper. It was so far off the picture. and I had ordered two in the same color except one was SS version. and they were so different… many shades different. They would not listen to me or I don’t know if they even looked at the pictures! I knew they didn’t take returns but I figured on a color error by manufacturer like that they surely would but nope.
TY! AND Love the doggy in background!,Ive' been a hairstylist for 58 years started when I was 15, STILL working and STILL love it,I have some wig wiglet Fall" Experience, from my early days late 1960's, when women would have as many wigs, in different colors, wiglets Falls as they could afford.I want and NEED to get back into it, You have been instrumental in going learning and RE learning and now have more knowledge THANK YOU! I am especially interested in "Toppers' to start I need to know ,to learn, where to buy wholesale and from who. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for the video. Is it just me or has wig prices gone up (doubled over the years)? I went back to see when I bought my Noriko Shilo from Name Brand Wigs and it was in 2014. It's still going strong because I have worn it maybe 20 times total LOL.
Hey Denise! I just got a couple of cheap wigs from Amazon and just tried to put one on and failed miserably. Lol Only tried one so far and it has two adjusters on each side at the nap. Not ever wearing a wig, how do I know where to start...should it be on the first clip holes on each side to begin with and see how it feels and tighten as I think it feels good?? Ughhh Sorry, must sound silly but the when I kind of got it on, it was like sliding back from my forehead. Plus it didn't fit flush around the bottom of my head either. I might have had the adjusters too tight. I have a wig grip coming tomorrow to maybe add that too and let the adjusters out more. I felt like I didn't even know how to put it on, do ya bend your head over upside down and always start from the forehead and pull down to the nape? Can't ya tell I'm a complete newbie!! Lol Thanks!!😁 Big hugs from Texas!
Thank you for a great & very informative video :) question: do you suggest wearing a wig grip or cap & if so, which would you recommend? Thanks & I Love your channel 🥰
That is such a personal decision.... personally I don't like to wear anything under my wigs because I don't like the extra bulk and tightness, but other women find so much security in them. I think it is a bit of trial and error to find what works, and ALSO, what works under one wig might not work under another so you might need to have a few different solutions. I do wear wig grips under my headband wigs, though... my favorite wig grip is The Hair Grip... here is my video on it: th-cam.com/video/Fq2xyBv0xdY/w-d-xo.html .. every single person who I have recommended this to have LOVED it and it has become their favorite... and I've spoken with the creator a few times now and she is so wonderful! The code DENISE20 will get you 20% off (I don't get any commission from your purchase, she was just nice enough to give me a code to share). If you want to try a wig cap I recommend the BelleTress Grip Cap- it is a wig grip and cap in one, here is my review on that: th-cam.com/video/pED0TAkkvwU/w-d-xo.html Good luck, I hope you find something that works AWESOME!!
Hi Denise! Do you have any suggestions about what kind or style or brand of wig would be good for an older woman (72 to be exact)? The wigs you show look great on you, but I don't think older women look very good in longer styles. Thanks for any input.
Sooo i am new and this vid is def on time for me.. I did buy 3 new Paula Young wigs .. I have discovered I have a GINORMOUS HEAD.. WELL. Fat back neck.. so I have some dieting to do.. but I did cut the straps and cut and and reset those straps into the spaces between the weaves of hair to make an inch Bigger on each side.. my eat to ear is def average and the top to neck is also average so this helped fit my wig much better. I came here to finger out just where the ear tabs should go and how far down.. YOU HELPED GREATLY.. Thanks so much.. id would give bout anything to actually chat w someone who wears wigs... I amjust one of those only child hermits that don't make friends well.. aka.. that wierdo on the Block.. anywya.anyway.. this really did help and I am thankful to have found your channel. 🥰👌 new subbie .
Hi!! I'm so glad this helped!! The wig community is so awesome and helpful... are you on Facebook? There are some great wig groups on there and I'm sure you will find TONS of support there!
From the UK Denise, thank you for all the tips. Ive been wig wearing for two years now as my hair getting thinner. Sadly in England we do not have the same availability as US. I love Godivas sercret wigs, too expensive to ship here.
Ladies on this journey - how do you handle sideburns? do you shave them? I am slowly regrowing my hair post chemo and so new to all this, the side burns are challenging for me...do I just pick wigs that kinda have hair that hides that more?
It can, it depends on how it fits you. If it is tight then it will stretch some, if not then not really. You can also try to stretch a cap yourself by getting it wet and then putting in on a canvas block head (with a plastic grocery bag around it to keep it dry) to dry. You want to be careful that it isn't a huge amount bigger if it has a lace front because you don't want to cause the lace to stretch as it may not lay flat afterward (a little adhesive will take care of that, though).
I have a flat head! The ear tabs hit low but after watching this video I feel better about that. I do worry though that I won’t be able to tuck hair behind my ear because the cap itself covers the top of my ear. Do you have that happen?
New wig customer. Haven’t started wearing them yet. None of my 3 wigs seem to fit. Am 21.5” and bought Average in Paula Young. Could it be my small bio hair pony tail is keeping the wig from fitting properly?
Hi Denise! I am with my first wig... it is such a strange feeling as I do not usually wear even hats😢... it bothers me under the year a lot I would say... is any trick that I can use?
If I get a wig with a full lace front all the way down to the ear tab but it’s just a little bit too far down, is it possible to trim it a little? It’s a Raquel Welch. If not possible to trim do you have any suggestions so the ear tab doesn’t feel like it’s quite so far down on my ear?
I'm new to wigs and just try 3 wigs. My problem is that the wigs come just over the top of my ears. For the rest they fit well. Brands : Belle Tress, Raquel Welch , Henry Margu. Is it possible to cut a bit above the ears or is the wig than damaged ? Greets from Belgium and thank you for your video's. Almost every day I watch 2 or 3 to learn about wigs.
Thanks for this. New wearer here… one of three I ordered seems to want to come too far forward on my brow. Too much hair in my face. I used cap and a wig head band I purchased, but still struggling with it being too much hair. Wish I could pay you for a FaceTime consult while I try on the wig!
I have a 19in circumference and not much occipital bone, I can't find any small size unless they are 1500 dollars or more, any suggestions

Dennie you are such a God send. Thank you for all the great advice.
SUWAT is beautiful on you! RW, JR and Estetica fit me best. I will say that the ear tabs bother me if it's hitting my ear and glasses. I'm 12" from ear to ear and 12" from hairline to nape and 22" cir.
Denise I can't tell you how much this video has helped me I'm going to look at your blog thank you 💗
Super thorough, clear, concise and HELPFUL. Thanks so much Denise! I have recommended your channel to other new wig wearers. Much love from New Mexico USA!
YAY! I appreciate this more than I can ever say! HUGS!
You do such a wonderful job trying to cover every possible concern a wig wearer has. Keep up the great work!!❤ God bless you!
Thank you.
Thank YOU so much for this comment! Hugs!
Hi Denise! This was such an informative video..... I agrees it does take time to get use to wearing a wig and as time goes by and we get use to it, we learn what works and feels best for us. You look FABULOUS in the "red" RW Straight Up With A Twist! You are ready for fall!!! Thanks so much! XO
Thank you my friend!!
That wig and color that you are wearing in the beginning looks excellent on you!
Thank you so much!! I really love this one!
What a nice comment- thank you SO MUCH! I appreciate your kind words more than I can say... HUGS!!
Thanks for this helpful information Denise. Your dog is beautiful.
You are so welcome! Thank you!!
Love the Baby in the Background 😙
This is a Excellent Video! Wish I would have had this info in My Beginning of Hair pieces and Wigs! Hugs My Dear
Thinking of you, Have a Great Week😙💕💞💕💞🧡❤️🧡
Hugs my friend!
I love the color and style of this wig on you. I think it’s the best one I have seen on you!
Thank you!
I don't know how to get over the fact I need to wear a wig because it looks like a wig and not my own hair...I guess it take time and practice...I have just subscribe to your channel
Thank you for sharing
I to have average circumference, but ear to ear is very petite. I am a new wig wearer, thank for doing what you do!
Denise, your blog and videos have been so helpful to me as I've started my wig journey, thank you so much! 🙂
Thanks for info, you look great in all the wigs in this video
Enjoyed this video à lot! I am a new wig user so your video was so informative.
a) I love your hair in this video. 2) I love the adorable sleepy dog on the arm chair!
Denise I’ve seen you in this color tshirt and hair in several videos and these are your colors! The hair color is beautiful on you!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Hi lovely! Great info this time. You look amazing in this color as well!
Thank you so much 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing so much of your experience - you are helping me a lot!
That RW color looks so good on you, and the style.
Thank you so much. Amazing video, as always. I'm wondering why sometimes I get bumps or ripples on the cap?!? Maybe too small 🤷🏼♀️ xxx
Thank you for all your information about this subject it really helps.
I know this is not related to the topic but I just loved seeing your dog in the background
this wig is the perfect color for you,
just beautiful
The color you are wearing looks fantastic on you!
Glad I could help! Thank you so much for taking time to share this with me, you made my day!!
Hi wig sisters!
Anyone else struggle with wigs riding up in the back because you don't have an occipital bone or bio hair to anchor? Even my wig grips slip off. I was hoping to find a suggestion or solution without using glues. Thanks.
Excellent video. Congratulations!
Esthetica! Thank you so much… I’m brand new to this and my head is extra big, flat on top, flat on the back. I need to try Esthetica
Such a helpful video. Thank you so much
You're so welcome!
Yes, it is getting out of control.
My ear tabs fall behind my ears,so now that I watched your video,I am assuming my wig is too small. I also have the adjustment let out all the way.
Wow, you’re REALLY GOOD 👍🏼 wish I’d found you years ago. Thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing what you have learned in your journey.
Hi Denise! Do you have any suggestions about what kind or style or brand of wig would be good for an older woman (72 to be exact)? The wigs you show look great on you, but I don't think older women look very good in longer styles. Thanks for any input.
You can get an online consultation with some wig companies. They will ask you some questions and come to some suggestions.
Your videos are fabulous, this one especially. You cover issues other viewer addresses
Thank you so much! HUGS!
Ladies on this journey - how do you handle sideburns? do you shave them? I am slowly regrowing my hair post chemo and so new to all this, the side burns are challenging for me...do I just pick wigs that kinda have hair that hides that more?
Excellent video. Also, such a sweet dog!!
Thank you very much!
that color is absolutely gorgeous on u~u are breathtaking~
Thank you so much 🙂
This is such great advice thanks so much ❤
You are always so helpful!
Does the elastic in the cap stretch over time? Your wigs look amazing!
Oh! We both have beautiful Golden’s ❤
You are so pretty whatever style or color you put on!
I have 3 wigs that fit fine I feel like I do not look as good as I should. Help!
What is the name and colour of the wig you have on you for the beginning on this video Raquel Welch?I love the wig and the colour
Straight up w a twist is my all time favorite wig!! It's so popular WHY haven't they made a large size??? Uggg
I am brand new to wigs but I’ve already thinned my Hudson out and took some wefts out just by watching a few videos on TH-cam!
Oh my gosh, I am SO IMPRESSED! You go girl, lol!! Seriously, though, you are doing awesome!!
Could you please tell me the color of Estetica mellow. It is a beautiful colour
Thank you for another informative video...
Hi Denise,
Could you please tell me the color of Mellow?
Also a big question I have is I saw another video that said remove the lace what does this mean and wouldn’t it fall apart? Xx
I am just getting into wigs, so I’m very new! I bought Jon Renau ignite and the lace is buckling on me! Any idea as to why?
Hi! I do consults!! Here is a link to my calendar: calendly.com/heywigsister
Thank you for the info. Very helpful.❤
Glad it was helpful!
I live near a Paula Young outlet where you can try on before buying.
