  • I would like to thank some of my wig sisters for helping me with the companion document on my website by proofing it and providing feedback. Dori, Jill, Linda, Marion, Becky, and Elaine (her TH-cam channel is Elaine Jackson, I think it used to be called Ninja Life Coach) Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
This is the first video in my new wig wearers series and it is all about wigs....Wig fibers, wig cap construction, and a quick discussion about permatease. There are so many types of wigs and the terminology can be VERY confusing, so I try to break it all down for you in this video. Please see the companion blog post on my website here: bit.ly/Wigs101AllAboutWigs

Thank you so much for this series. I am a newbie to this whole process. Just started a week ago with my first wig! This is going to be a HUGE adjustment for me and that is why I am so grateful for you to educate new wig wearers. I have seen a lot of your other videos and you help me get the confidence I need to do this. Thank you again!

Denise, sure wish you'd done this one sooner...like about 4 months ago when I took the wig wearing "dive"! This video is one of your best and I love your presentation of all the extremely useful information. And especially that it is void of choppy editing. Smooth!!!

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you so much!! Editing may have shortened it, but I'm not sure the trade off is worth it, both for you AND for me and my own time. These already take long enough to do, I can't imagine if I had to spend significant time editing. I figured I would just do time stamps in the description and that way people can just skip to what they want to see.

OMG another great video, I’ve been wearing wigs for approx. 11 years and I’ve never felt comfortable wearing or knowing what’s what with regards to the different types of caps etc, I’ve learnt so much from you in this one video. Sorry if I sound soppy but I’m actually crying that there is someone out there that can/is helping me as much as you are.
I have so alone. Thank you for your amazing videos. 💛

Thank you Dennise! I'm still at the beginning of my wig journey and although I have done a lot of research, the amount of information available can be very overwhelming. Your programme of step by step advice from day 1 is outstanding. I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work in putting together such an excellent series of videos. I feel now that all the information is falling into place in easy-to-digest chunks and it us making a lot less scary and intimidating. Your easy and eloquent style is such a pleasure to listen to. Thank you a million times, you wonderful lady! ❤️

Denise it is now June 2024. I just watched wigs 101! How fantastic. I am just starting my journey at 64 years of age with extremely thinning hair on top and my top back of my head. I’ve been digging into learning how wigs are made and all the details of fibers, caps, tools, glues, colors and brands. I have now order 7 wigs to try hoping to find 3 to keep. I can’t wait to watch the rest of this series and download the companion documents. Thank you so very much for this short cut to my own wig masters! Do you do consultations?

As a right side parter I've found the even if you pay extra for the mono top, the majority of the styles I like (long pixies) are cut to be left parted anyway so the mono top is kind of pointless for this. I think I'm just going to have to train myself into a left part. Thankyou for mentioning the maintenance of heat friendly curly/wavey wigs. I hadn't thought about that before and that should save me a few pricey regrets :^)

Congratulations🏆👏👏 on such a great introduction to your new series. It's going to be SO helpful and encouraging to so many people. When you & I were just beginning to ride the learning curve of wigs there was nothing like this out there to watch and learn from. Only little tidbits now & then and none of them this well done and easy to understand. That's not all bad, because you and I might not otherwise have had the opportunity to meet and become friends as we shared hair, tips & ideas.
This series is going to save a lot of time, guesswork and money for those who are newbies and just don't know where to start.
You are such a beautiful soul, one that does so much for this community, all from your compassionate heart to sincerely make a difference in the lives of others. Many blessings on you, my friend. 🤗💖

Bless you for putting up this channel. Thanks to you I’m looking into a human hair investment. A local salon, reviews are really good and they cater to hair loss customers. I watched your video of you wearing a well fitting human wig. That for me is worth the price of admission! I have a lot of anxiety with slipping. It's pretty bad when all the grip solutions slip off but tape and I have plenty of hair where it's supposed to go. BOINK!! I tried the tape anyways. I thought I had a plan until it was time for the dismount. Using the Jon Renau spray to get it off, it reacted by balling up like a sea anemone. Not as cute, looked more like a giant buger trying to eat my hair, and these are my good hairs! Now I'm mad spraying it like it had to be killed. Looked like a dead jellyfish when I got done with it. I won the match, but defeated not wanting to deal with it. My color matches are not available anymore, my tail would be between my legs if I had one. Right after this happens next day your video popped up and rescued me. Wow!! We can't make this stuff up, just like that a great never give up pep talk. I just wanted you to know how grateful I am. I'm subscribed!

Thank you so much for this education. You covered so much that I did not know about. Wish I had known before I purchased my two. I also appreciate your wonderful support. Your video about getting used to wearing wigs was so helpful. I do feel like I have an animal on my head. However, I realized that my hair has been thinning for sometime and I am just not used to so much hair. And you nailed it when you talked about first time wig wearer. I feel much better now and I'm wearing them around the house now all day!

Oh boy! I got a heat friendly wig as my first wig and can't take it back! Plus it's a wavy one! Someone recommended it to me! On the plus side it's a hand tied wig and the quality is amazing. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I thank you so much Denise for the time you have taken to research the many different areas of wigs, how they are made, sizing, color, it can be so overwhelming for someone new to this journey. I purchased a wig a couple years ago and thought oh my goodness this is so not going to happen for me. But you have given me hope to continue and try to find a style, and wig maker that fits my comfort zone.

Hi, Teri! I completely understand how you felt, I really do! This CAN happen for you! It may take time and experimentation, but I just know you can get there. There really is a style for everyone out there.

I watched this entire video and learned so much already. I mostly wear Raquel Welch but also own an E Wille wig. I need a petite wig so I am limited to what I can order. I wish more mfrs. would make more petite wigs. The RW voltage is my go to and favorite right now. I have just learned from you to expand my search. I will as I can afford . I’m on a fixed income so must always save for a good wig. T Y!

Oh my goodness. What a fantastic education you just gave me. I have been thinking of getting a wig as I recently had shoulder surgery and can’t style my own hair and have a wedding in two weeks. I learned so much from you. Just took the plunge and ordered my first wig. I would have ordered the wrong one if I hadn’t found your channel. You are wonderful.

Sending you hugs!! One of my best friends wore a wig for about a year and a half while she nursed a shoulder injury and eventually got surgery. She LOVED that she didn't have to style her hair during that time!

A really good intro to wigs and many features that one needs to know retain types of wigs and the general quality etc.in making a selection. There seems to be much to learn. I would like to know which companies for instance feature particular qualities. I also don’t see all this information listed on ads. I wish there were local stores that carried an assortment of styles, features, and qualities to try first and get to ask questions before purchasing. I totally dislike having to mail returns. I live in so Ca and one would think there were more stores available to try first. There doesn’t seem to be updated inventory available. It’s such a maze to wade through.

Love your energy and all of your knowledge and support...I lost my hair again for the 5th time now due to illness. ..I have come to the conclusion that wigs are my new normal...I have been watching everything I can get my hands on and appreciate you sharing your wig journey..I have always had long lush thick blonde hair and have lost my sense of femininity with the lost of my hair...I would love some guidance on the best place to purchase human hair wigs and your thoughts on human hair...I also watch TAZ and she does not wear human hair she does not say why but I am happy to see you wear them...if you would please direct me to a good resource for human hair wigs I would greatly appreciate it...and also the best kind of human hair cap.. thanks again for all you are doing in the wig community..🤗

Thank you so much! I think the hard part is to start the journey. Could you do a video about how long you wear the wig,? Do you unglue it every night,? Do you wear caps? How is the day to day wear.

Very comprehensive thanks. Because I like bangs I find basic caps are fine except that some brands (I'm thinking Noriko) don't do the front very well and you have this very obvious felt ridge which can show if its windy. Jon Renau are really good though and can often be picked up at a good discount so very budget friendly. They have definitely become my go-to's if its a blowing a gale! That wig you have on is one of the nicest I've seen you in Denise. Really suits your face shape. I went over to take a look at it but sadly no greys.
