So grateful to have found you and your videos!! I am a sister in Christ, and I’m brand new to the wig world even thought I have been losing hair for at least 20 years or more. Did not want to have to resort to wigs and put it off way too long, but here I am. I have already watched the first 4 videos of the new to wigs series (ok, some of them multiple times lol) and feel like I have to apologize to my family for totally neglecting them! I’m from the smallest province in Canada (PEI), and do not know anyone else who has thin hair like I do, so super happy to find you and the group of wonderful ladies who follow you and share their stories and tips. Thank you again.

Thank you so much Denise. As someone just starting out in the wig journey (for mostly cosmetic reasons), I have become quickly discouraged. I love the idea of a tutorial for us “newbies”! My biggest problem has been finding a wig to fit my head! I donated my first purchase & swore never again. I am a huge fan & will be watching for your new series. 💕💕

Hi, Marsha!! I really understand the struggle. Do you know what your measurements are?

    • @Artisjoy5320
      @Artisjoy5320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@heywigsister Thanks for contacting me. I measure 22.50 ( not that BIG, right?). The sad part is that I researched online (watching many videos from all kinds of websites, reviews, etc) for nearly a yr. The large wig I had my eye on went on sale, so I took the leap. It was Daily by Ellen Wille & I was so disappointed. It didn’t stay on my head & didn’t look anything like the website photo. Obviously, the main problem was sizing, but I also felt there just was not enough hair. I am used to volume as I have naturally curly bio hair that frizzes with the slightest humidity. I also have had some thinning @ my hairline . Any suggestions you can make would be greatly appreciated. Love, love love your channel. It is my absolute favorite resource. (P.S. pray you will have peace & joy in your new home. Congrats).

@@Artisjoy5320 No, definitely not that big! I completely understand your struggle and wish I could hug you in person... you are definitely not alone. Have you seen my review of Paula Young Becky? I have spoken to a number of wig sisters who had naturally curly hair with volume and without exception they have loved her!! She definitely has a lot of volume, though. I have 2 videos on her, one a review and one a color spotlight of a different color: th-cam.com/video/5Efb3iBjBEI/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/81zqtt7INY0/w-d-xo.html . I also think Ellen Wille Girl Mono could be a good one to try. I am assuming that Daily was too small for you when you say the fit was off....some Ellen Wille caps do run small, but some seem to run bigger. Girl Mono is one that I think runs a little bigger, and I have talked to quite a few wig sisters with a 22.5 circumference who didn't think Ellen Wille would fit them, but they tried Girl Mono anyway and it did. That one is also curly with more volume... a LOT less than Becky but still a good amount. Sending love for your journey!

Omg your series is the holy Grail. Thank you so much you have changed my direction and faith and confidence in myself and this journey into such a positive one. I was about to just give up. I felt like a failure and it's been so hard on me. I suffer from trichotillomania and I decided about 6 months ago to just shave my head because I was losing that battle. So this is all so new to me and I have felt helpless and defeated for so long trying to get this right with wigs. Until now! This is the information I have been desperately needing and searching for. ❤️

This is going to be so awesome and helpful. For those who are just beginning this journey, you will learn, like I did, that there are questions you don't even know to ask when new to wigs. It can be overwhelming. The more we can share our experiences with each other the more we lift each other up and make this community a better, stronger place. Makes the journey more fun, too. I went from only wearing my bio color and similar style to a wide spectrum of gorgeous, fun colors and styles and just loving the freedom of choices now. There's always something new to be learned.
Thanks, Denise, your dedication to your wig sisters is so appreciated. 🤗❤

I have made three wig purchases at this point and none have been a winner. Financially I’m not able to keep investing without further information so your new series will be invaluable to me.

I bought my first wig, Peace by Estetica, in September 2018 because I was going to NYC to celebrate my 50th birthday in Manhattan and knew nothing about wigs. But I loved how it made me feel/look however I wish I knew what your channel was teaching about wigs before I bought my wigs. I’m scare to handle or touch them so by watching this series, I’m learning so much! I don’t buy wigs online because I don’t know where to buy them in Canada and scared I’ll be stuck with a wig I won’t like. So, thank you so much for posting these videos! Great idea! Looking forward to this series. I started in 2000 but only wore a wig for a very short time. Went back to my hair and came back to wigs around 2013. Again only wore a topper or a wig for a couple of months and gave up. Now I started again in December 2020. I have spent a ton of money and found a lot I love and even more that I don't, but one thing I have found is that I really enjoy wearing wigs and not having to mess with trying to create a hair look out of no hair and feeling bad about myself when I look in the mirror. Some days are great and some are not but it's one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time. You are truly a blessing to me and to others.

Denise, This is just my thoughts on this but I think for new wig wearers finding a wig that looks like your own hair is a good jump off point. I tried to buy wigs in various colours but it just didn’t look or feel like me. I found that toppers were more natural but now finding it doesn’t give me the coverage so the fine line is getting a wig that feels like you so you can go out of the house confidently.

I am so looking forward to this series thank you for doing this. I started buying wigs last year many of them I haven't even worn 😳 still have the tags on them because when I got them here and finally looked at them ( I have PSA and have to wait until the arthritis in my hands has calmed down enough so I can pull the wig on) it was too late to send back and I saw they would not be the right color. As time has gone on my taste has changed from pixies to the long bob s and I'm still struggling with color. I'm actually afraid to try them on silly I know but I have got brave and finally buzzed my hair so that's a first step lol. Again thank you for doing these videos and I look forward to learning, 😊

I'm not sure I will be able to do that in this series but I do have that on my list for a Tip Tuesday video. The hard part about making a video like this is that there is SO MUCH variation in the brands. I have found some Noriko to be way to small on me, but then I'll try another in the same wig and it fits me fine (that has happened to me with both Jackson and Sky in that line). It really makes it difficult to put out a blanket statement on this.

Denise, I commented to you a few days ago about what was a good hair spray. You said you stay away from products. I am trying to do the same. I have recently started to wear heat friendly wigs. My Raquel Welch Real Deal, and Belle Tress Bon Bon and Lemonade are driving me crazy with fly aways. I have steamed them, sprayed with water, tried Jon Renau Contour creme and Piece out, and spray and heat from my hands. I bet that I have pulled at least 100 hairs out from Real Deal front lace. I would welcome any ideas that you have. It is very humid here in TN , so static is not the problem. Please help. :)

Very top of video a line of flickering colors. I checked other videos and nothing like that. Maybe a filter?

Hmmmm.... I don't use filters in my videos. I went back and watched it both on my computer and my phone and I don't see what you are referring to at all. No one else has mentioned it, so weird!

I'm just starting my wig journey. How do you tell your loved ones...and friends why you've decided to wear wigs?

I would share with them videos and posts on social media from women who wear wigs. If you have hair loss, share that you felt so alone and then you discovered this wig sister community and can't believe the support and how many women suffer with this. I have found that when I am vulnerable and share my struggles people feel for me and are supportive. If you don't have hair loss but just want to wear wigs, I would still share all the posts and videos and your excitement to have found this awesome option to save your hair from constant processing and heat styling.

I wish I had found you four years ago!
