I have to say that this time, I totally disagree with prof Mahbubani. He seemed to be just echoing what the mainstream western media is reporting about the situation in Ukraine which mostly, if not all, are totally unreliable.
Has the prof not heard that the value of the Russian rouble has bounced back to almost the pre-war level?

For once I disagree with Kishore. This is an American proxy war, Zelensky is not a hero. The Maidan coup in 2014 in Kyiv was orchestrated and funded by America. US senator John McCain was present on stage giving a public speech at Maidan Square in Kyiv on 15 Dec 2013, cheering the crowd in overthrowing president Yanukovych, who was not pro-Western. Standing at McCain’s left side was neo-Nazi Svoboda Party leader, Oleg Tyahnybok, who worked with neo-Nazi groups like the Right Sector and C14, who set fire at Maidan Square for three months from Nov 2013 to Feb 2014. After 200 died at Maidan, President Yanukovych was forced to resign. This was exactly the same modus operandi from the CIA playbook as used in Hong Kong 2019 and Kazakhstan in 2022.
After the Maidan coup, Victoria Nuland was recorded over a telephone conversation in handpicking Yatsenyuk as the new prime minister of Ukraine, also Klitschko and Tyahnybok who both would receive orders directly from Washington to work with Yatsenyuk from behind. This strongly suggests that Washington directly funded the neo-Nazi party Svoboda. There’s also a video showing her giving a public speech saying the USA spent 5 billion dollars in switching Ukraine to pro-Western. This has been a government that represents Washington’s interests rather than the Ukrainian people’s interests.
If we see two people fighting in the street, the best way to stop the fight is to calm them down. If we want them to escalate the fight, we give weapons. This is what America has been doing since 2014, shipping arms to Ukraine and training the Ukrainian army and even trained Azov Batallion as documented by the Panama Paper. Ukraine military budget rose from 1% in 2014 to 7% in 2021, while Ukraine being the third poorest country in Europe. Zelensky was listed by the Pandora Paper in its “list of corrupted country leaders” possessing billions in his personal account, and was exposed by Pandora Paper to be a close associate of billionaire Ihor Kolomoisky, an Israeli Jewish oligarch connected to Biden family.
If Zelensky really cares about his people, make peace with Russia, and all his people can go home. Russia’s three demands are reasonable and a bargain, compared to millions of Ukrainians becoming refugees. But instead, he dispatched guns to the people to engage in street battles, asked for the West’s military support and requested for no-fly zone which means extending the war to other European countries. It just makes no sense. He has at every stage the absolute control in his hand to save his people from suffering, but he has been doing the opposite.
Just a while ago, Alexei Navalny was being funded by the NED and Mi6 to topple Putin. And in Jan 2022, a coup attempt took place in Russia’s neighbor Kazakhstan. This war is all along the USA’s attempt to take on Putin and Russia. The main reason is Putin has become the forerunner in de-dollarization.
For the record, USA had no mercy on anyone threatening the dollars:
** In 2000 Saddam Hussein said he would start selling oil in Euros not Dollars. >Saddam was hanged by the US.
** In 2009 Gaddafi made Libya export oil in Gold Dinars. >Gaddafi was killed by US-backed NTC.
** Syria had an independent Central Bank NOT under the Rothschild and Federal Reserve controlled Bank of International Settlements (like Iraq and Libya once had before US regime change). >Obama attempted to overthrow Bashar al-Assad.
** Iran has been trading oil in currencies other than US dollars since 2011. >Iran was being sanctioned by the US.
** In 2011, Russia started ditching dollars in oil trades. And now it’s the forerunner in de-dollarization. >Russia was sanctioned since 2011.
** China introduced the Belt and Road Initiatives in 2013, used non-dollar in oil trades and introduced the CIPS which is an alternative to the West’s SWIFT system. >America got China into a new Cold War.
Putin already sold all US treasury bills. He and China proposed to use Euro for oil trades in Eurasia. Eurasia has 70% of world’s population, and America has just 4% of world’s population and it is isolated from Eurasia. Therefore Euro is a serious threat to the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Now, 40% of dollar bills in existence in America was printed in the last 12 months due to the pandemic. The USA debt has amounted to 30 Trillion, and there’s less and less takers of US treasury, because whenever the USA prints a lot of money, these countries’ foreign reserves devalue. And also the USA has applied too much sanctions on other countries. The dollar is in a creditability crisis. If Euro or another currency replaces the dollars as the world’s reserve currency, America will be in deep deep trouble. As former Americans NSA chief Zbignew Brzezinski put it: “It is IMPERATIVE that no Eurasian challenger emerges capable of dominating Eurasia and thus of also challenging America”. Wars in Europe would strengthen the dollar.
Remember after WW II, Europe, Russia, Japan and China were devastated, but America emerged as the world leader. This could be a repeat of that.
Another reason is the Military Industrial Complex’s projects in the Middle East have wound down. The focus is now in Europe and China-Taiwan. America has a war economy. That’s why America has been in wars for 230 years in its 246 years history. Lockheed Martin alone has an annual turn over of 60 billion, the same as the GDP of a country like Bulgaria. And Lockheed Martin is just 1/13 of America’s military budget. Wars stop, payrolls stop.
Then there’s the Nord Stream II gas pipeline. The USA warned Germany and Russia that the construction of the pipeline must be stopped, but it was completely nevertheless. This is the USA’s reaction. Why the USA allowed a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany which passed through Ukraine, but not allowed Nord Stream II pipeline which directly runs from Russia to Germany? Because Nord Stream II avoids the USA’s proxy state Ukraine, and the control of energy supply to Europe change hand from USA to Russia.
Also, Biden is heading to the mid-term election with a low support rate. Domestically there’s little could be done. If America could reap benefits from the war in Europe and the Far East, then Biden could gain more support.
As you read, another conflict is already in the making. American weapons already shipped to Taiwan, and Mike Pompeo visited Taiwan on 4th Mar 2022. China has a clear red-line: not to challenge the One-China policy. Just like in Russia’s case, where Putin’s red-line was used by America to push Russia into a war, America will use Tsai to push across China’s red line and trigger a war.

For once, I am in total disagreement with Kishore, albeit a great fan of him. The Russian army is only fighting with one arm behind its back. If it had to use the same shock and awe as in the US in invading small Iraq, ( a huge overkill ), Ukraine will fall in days and flatten to rubble . Its trying to minimize civilian or even human troops casualty for the local Ukrainian man/women on the street. ..
Also it is giving Zelenksy some time to put on his thinking cap and come to real nego instead of giving a "world speech" every day to the West..Asia and Africa, by large is not keen to hear Zelensky's daily war cry to pull everyone into the fray for a WW3.
Sanctions will make a country like Russia or China or maybe even India, stronger. ..It is resilient and will overcome as sanctions is a two way sword who will harm the sanctioner's populace too, case clearly manifested by the spiked inflation in the US.
Zelensky is a real hero !!!!!!?????? Give me a break, will yuh ! Sigh !!!!!! A real hero doesnt makes him cry a freaking river everyday and bleeding his citizens to die by the hour.

The Russian army is not bogged down. The assumption that the war will be short and the Russian army wanted to take Kiev is a misunderstanding from the Western side. At no point did Poutin say that. He prepared for this war for years and build a stronger Russian economy less dependent on the West. The Russian army is slowly but surely tiring the capacity for Ukraine to defend itself. The war will last weeks if not months.

Thankyou Mr. Kishore always for your useful input. On the Russian army being bogged down it is apparent from the battle field updates that they had from day 7 adopted a slow attrition warfare suitable for urban context instead of the ''shock and awe' open desert warfare of US military which took 43 days. Also it appears that their paramount objective is south eastern Ukraine while preventing reinforcement coming from encircled Kiev.

Agree. Obviously Kishore does not has sufficient military sense. The Russians did not underestimate the Americans. It's the Americans who underestimated the Russians. Otherwise the Americans would not have advanced so brazenly towards the Russian border through NATO.
I don't think Russia will lose this war. On the contrary, I think Ukraine will fold, I.e. its military will be reduced to guerrilla groups before the end of April.
The mopping up of those guerrilla groups will very likely start by the end of April.

Zelenskiy also owns a USD33 million mansion in the USA AND many very, very expensive apartments in London & Europe...!
This was the 1st agenda when he took over the Presidency...!
      WHY..?
When he ran for office, he already made a pact with the USA to be their puppet...!
America wanted to get their hands and monopoly on some of Ukraine's special minerals like Uranium and at the same time spy on Russia & China & India...!
The good trilateral relationship between these 3 countries (ue China, India & Russia ) have been a nightnare to the USA for so long...!

The USA, the so called champion of "Democracy".., criminally exploits the spirit & good of democracy to ekect leaders that they can control...!
There is no place for a 2bd rated comedian actor to run a country....!
This is one of the down sides of Western Democracy...!
By right, NOT just any TOM, DICK OR ZEKEBSKIY should run for political office and NOT every citizen should vote...!
If the expert's get a right formula then Democracy will be accepted by all nations ...!
Ask yourself if you would like a President with all the Powers & Wealth without the proper qualifications to take out your appendicitis ...!
The current Democratic system does NOT in TRUTH give any PROFESSIONAL characteristic to the Presidential Office or to any political l Office...!

Kishore is great advocate of the rise of Asia. He might have to modify his views on the Ukraine saga if he had given more thoughts to the logic of India and China's positions. US sanctions are over killed and will have adverse repercussions on the US and the West themselves. It is quite obvious that the US strategy may have backfired if he had studied carefully the reactions of the majority of countries in the world; he should have kept his well admired thesis that the US has "no strategy" and is losing their plot in wanting to preserve their no. 1 position. As the war unfolds it is so obvious that the US wants to prolong the war and does not care for the lives of the Ukrainians. They wanted to overthrow Putin and destroy Russia. As the war goes on, the Europeans will suffer and there will be a division and at the same time, the US will lose credibility as is happening now.

The war on Ukraine are controlled and measured as Russia don't want to occupied the country. Russia only want its objectives being met as lay out prior to their military action as the west had outrightly rejected Russia's diplomacy approach. While the west
are united on the sanctions, that include Russian cats and dogs, artist, sports, etc, it reflect how much the west are bias and hates Russian. The sanctions imposed by the west hurts Russia but the west can't escape the ripple effects, such as refugees crises, fuel cost, food cost, overall inflation, business lost, brewing social unrest, etc. Now the west has to scramble to ease their concern of energy and food needs. The response from the OPEC are somewhat cool to western demands. The weaponisation of the USD and financial system are pushing China and others to speed up the use of alternate currency and financial trading system. This will have serious challenges to US and western dominance in the near term.

  • @edwardh50g
    @edwardh50g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Prof Kishore's initial assessment was accurate. He was just saying the outcome was surprising - but he didn't explain the reason for the surprising outcome - leading to many thinking he was providing an analysis.
    1) Russia was expected to have an easy win but didn't - the main reasons were the strategy deployed by Russia, to minimise civilian casualty, no bombing of administration buildings etc, which were intended for post invasion considerations. But capturing cities proved difficult without heavy artillery uses, so some 30 days later, Russia changed tactic to not seize Kyiv. Now the bombings take place.
    2) Seizing of Central bank reserves - that is incomprehensible and extremely stupid. because whichever currency use is sanctioned, it would lead to the non-use and subsequent demise. We will be seeing alternative currencies used. Once USD is not the reserve currency, USD will not be able to run budget deficits and the surplus USD in circulation will cause currency to depreciate rapidly and that would be the collapse of USA economy.
    3) EU united --- seemingly united. They shot themselves in the foot. Inflation and energy crisis will bite them in the back.
    4) Companies sanction / lack of airplane parts - this is the danger of companies playing politics. Companies will lose patent protection due to not making the product available when there is market demand. Same for trademark owners who decide to cease operations - that is trademark abandonment and all goodwill are deemed lost when there is no activity. (details varies between countries, but that is the gist of it)

Kishore missed the bigger picture: the galvanization of the Russia-China partnership which is now arguably the most important and powerful partnership in the world. Also the seizure of Russia's reserves, coming on the heels of the seizure (many say theft/robbery) of Iran's, Venezuela's and Afghanistan's reserves finally lost the Americans the financial faith of the most important sovereign financial actors of the world, if not most of the world.
Besides the dollar is weakening by the day. The sanctions of the USA is hastening its own collapse and with it the collapse of the USA's economy and military power.
I think Kishore is falling in line with his country Singapore, which for obvious reasons has followed the USA's lead in sanctioning Russia.
The world has split into competing poles - East and West. We shall see which of the poles is stronger.

Completely agree. As for the obvious reasons why SG took the path, standing with the hypocrites Western democracies nations, it is still a huge disappointment for many Singaporeans. If we were pressed to, which many believes we were, however pragmatic we need to be to make a living taking into all considerations and calculations the threat brings, we need to stand up against such threats. If not now, when? More so in this modern times, while the West are still bullying around. And to add salt into the wounds, our government got onto the perceived moral high ground with their reasoning, almost to a point of trumpeting, and a big turned off. And if, and I'm actually hoping that it'll materialize, that the BRICS, Africa, Eurasia, ASEAN, etc, make a stand at this point in history. Where do SG stand? Geographically, S.E.A. geopolitically Western hypocrites? Be useful, but not to be made used. That's what our FM said. But by then, I'm afraid, SG may well die a slow and tragic death

I tend to think that the geopolitical chess game just ensued. USA without a doubt has the best set of cards in its hands and Russia set of cards are not great. This war may seem its about Russia and Ukraine issues but its really about changing cards on each players hands. Its about who gets what resource, who gets to call the shots on various issues, and how the rules of trade will be played out over the next couple of decades. The key players are of course usa china Russia Europe, India. Secondary players are middle east and other asian countries and lastly Africa. This war will help build secondary financial systems, reserve currencies, military alliances and trade blocs. Russia is not trying to conquer to occupy ukraine, its trying to neutralised it from the west. Between India and China and several other countries its aligned with, Russia will have no problem bouncing back from the financial sanctions the west put on it. The question is the type of relationship russia will build in Europe after this crisis. Repair and rebuild is China's strong suit. China knows how to pick up pieces and rebuild. Ukraine can be repaired easily too if china cares enough to help. USA on the other hand enjoys creating chaos. That's why usa is relentless in trying to intimidate china into playing by its rules. Ukraine is merely the punching bag between usa (nato) and Russia. China is the hospital that will patch both Russia and Ukraine after the fight.

Look at North Korea's recent video it sent to the world launching its nuclear missiles successfully, it was damn funny. But also rather reckless. It drove south Korea and Japan nuts. Russia has legitimate grievances with USA, nato and Ukraine, but its terrible with diplomacy but militarily strong and brilliant geopolitically. This war got alot of oil producing countries to wake up and start resisting trading restrictions and USA dominance over them. They want their place in the world and not be marginalised by USA and allies. Does the USA ask the world to play it's rules. Because USA after WW2 being the wealthiest and most powerful country, it is truer to say the world asking to join the only game in town. Poor nations can not help other nations; they have labor only in much need of capital. That is why you call it capitalism. People hate it in many respects but no other way out out of poverty. A nation can play by it's own rules if they want a poor nation with no hope. No one is forced to have any thing directly to do with the USA. Communism is by far the greater evil. Up to 100 million deaths by Mao and 50 something million deaths by Stalin. Colonialism is always blamed on Britain when all it took to get rid of them was boycotting goods which could have been done a century earlier. India's rulers are more to blame than the outside world.

I think SG government "was UNDER DURESS and COMPELLED to GO ALONG with SANCTIONS against RUSSIA" is because SG's armed forces is historically trained by and is still linked to the US/Israel. SG, just after independence, was left in the lurch by the British withdrawing its troops. A small young nation without a single soldier is open to invasion and occupation. SG approached the US for help and the US jumped at the opportunity to establish a foothold at a port right in the middle of the shipping lane between the West and the East. After all, this is a self-interest aka self-survival world. The trade between SG and Russia is relatively small. If the US ask SG to sanction China I don't think SG will comply because SG's trade and investment in China is huge.

Here I disagree with the professor. The era of hegemony with military power has ended. Just look at Afghanistan which was liberated after 20 years in power. What is happening now is that economic power rests on a country's food and energy security, its natural resources coupled with its technological reliability, both military and civilian. This will change the direction of economic domination. An ancient economic principle is that your product cannot be sold if there are no consumers and the consumer must have enough money to buy the product being offered. The limited energy and natural resources of a country will automatically affect its achievement as an independent country. The G7's strength is that it relies on their currency to be used as a trading currency, an advantageous position for energy importers to pay in their own currency like paying for goods with printed paper only. Eras have changed, their golden age has changed.

This time however I find it difficult to adhere with Kishore. It's like he's giving his opinion off Western MSM. In the first place, it's a given fact of ability that had Russia gone in with an "awe and shock" blitzkrieg, not dissimilar to how indiscriminately the US and NATO did it in Iraq, Ukraine would have been flattened completely under a week. But Russia did not do it this way. The puzzlement is WHY??? I'm also surprised the subject of BOEING and AIRBUS commercial planes was discussed only from the viewpoint of the Western advantage. When, in fact, 70% of these planes in Russia are on commercial leases, and Russia has in retaliation forbidden the return of these planes. The Russian lessees, in any case, have been incapacitated to repay by the sanctions. This alone amounts to many, many $billions in clawback effect. Unusually, Kishore is normally balanced and deeply versed in the nuances of his comprehensive research. These peculiar academic traits of his were, rather, lacking today, I felt listening to his monologue.

Professor Kishore will regret this analysis of his. I think his reading of the situation is way way off. Europe is pretty much on its knees now.
To give an example, the Europeans are trying to replace their gas requirements with US LNG. They don't have the infrastructure to handle these shipments and they won't be able to build the ports in time.. and where are they going to find the ships to ship the huge amount of gas over from the US to Europe? And how much more are they paying for the american gas? It just doesn't make economic sense. It will worsen the inflation situation.
The west has set a very bad precedent by confiscating Russia's sovereign reserves. This will backfire on them eventually. I am sure China has taken into consideration this possibility. The fact that gold price hasn't shot through the roof yet indicates that the west will not be that stupid to threaten the Chinese reserves.
The west is pretty lonely confronting Russia. In fact, I believe Mr Putin has been preparing for this confrontation for some time. This operation was prepared for over many years. Russia will prevail.

Unfortunately, the European political elites have lost their marbles, and EU/Euro is being destroyed by their own failure to recognize that NATO (which is NOT accountable to their own electorates, NOR compliance with the UN Chapters) has subjugated them.
The small numbers of elites who dared voice out any alternative perspectives are hapless in "open societies" that have been sieged by US controlled and dominated Western media. One by one, they even 'have to invite' Zelenskyy to broadcast from their respective Parliaments more of the same US/NATO driven "propaganda" directly to their own electorates!?
Not only China, but the whole world has lost.
With a diminished/destroyed EU/Euro pole, the world will become more dangerous (and economically counter productive) as the US will proceed to force a global partition into two opposing camps!?

I was very disappointed to hear of the invasion for exactly the same reason you mentioned, I was so disheartened. But when you hear of the underlying reasons, the large scale impending attack on the Donbass. Russia had no choice. Today, I realise both Russia and America have thought through the consequences. America would have unloaded the sanctions on Russia for the any reason anyway and eventually they will ask Taiwan to declare independence and put China in the same situation.
Regarding the war, Russia is in the driving seat. They are using 200k men to subdue 600k Ukrainians. Russia is winning the war slowly and methodically but they are losing the media war. I think because of the cost of the war Russia will separate the country roughly from Kyiv south and declare it independent. They need to clear the East of the non slavic Ukrainians. Before the war started I said to myself if Russia does go in it will take half the country to make it worthwhile. East Ukraine will then have enough to be a successful state. Because Russia has the natural resources they are in a more powerful position than China in this situation. I think America have made a mistake going after Russia first. Anyway, right now the 70k cream of the Ukrainian army facing the Donbass is going to get a taste of Russian aggression. They are not hiding amongst civilians in cities.

The question whether Russia would "invade" Ukraine was never in doubt. It's a question of 'When' and not 'If'. The signs were all there. For Russia, it was a matter of life and death once Ukraine joins Nato. The narrative that the "Russian army is bogged down" is not entirely correct. It does not take into account that Russia is not conducting a war that uses the 'shock and awe' strategy that killed hundreds and thousands of civilian deaths in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. in the first few days of the war. UN recent report states that to date there are about one thousand civilian casualties in Ukraine. In a sense this is a more humane war (I am anti-war) compared to the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, etc. Russian government high officials had promised that it would be a "gentle" war and so far this appears to be so. It is one's hope that the war will end soon.

My wife said: How can I sleep when you are sleeping with a knife? What if you accidentally cut me?
I said: Well, You don’t even trust your own husband, how can you expect Russia to trust Ukraine? Me sleeping with a knife is like Ukraine joining the Nato.

Singapore has more trade with the US than with China or Russia! So, Kishore has to support his government.

He is wrong. The rouble has rebounded as of 30 March and the sanctions are making Russia develop competencies it never had to. They have also pushed Russia to China and bolstered China's position on the Eurasian landmass. India has not abandoned Russia and economically these three are more than a match for the West together.

For a man spposedly of high intellect he is giving a very parochial view of the Ukraine-Russia war. Before giving his two cents worth he should have looked up the history of Ukraine and the kind of people making up its citizens. Historically they have been fighting wars after wars after wars, at times fight among themselves, and at times fighting on the side of others. In WW1 Ukrainians fought on both sides. During WW2 a lot of Ukrainians fought alongside Hitler's Army, which is why the neo'Nazis are a very powerful force in Ukraine today. They even have a military unit called the Azov Battalion comprising of neo-Nazis, ultranationalists, thugs and hooligans. Historically speaking, in the first place there was no such country as Ukraine. It was just a geological area prior to the formation of the USSR. As for Crimea it was never a part of Ukraine. Crimea was previously part of Russia. In 1954 the Soviet president, Nikita Kruschev, a Ukrainian, passed a law putting Crimea under the authority of Ukraine. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is not a new occurrence. The hostility between them had been there over the centuries. Under the USSR umbrella there was some semblance of peace but once the USSR was dissolved past resentment and conflict was re-ignited. And the Biden administration stoked the fire because the US wanted to make Russia as the enemy of the West. NATO was formed out of the fear of USSR having hegemony ambitions in Europe and it started the Cold War when USSR formed the Warsaw Pact in reply. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union there was no more any communist threat to Europe and NATO should have been dissolved. But the west needs an enemy because without one the military industrial complex will go bankrupt when no country wants to buy weapons. On his last day in office Eisenhower told the American people to beware of the military industrial complex but his warning went unheeded because the oligarchs who control the complex already controlled almost all the media and the vehicles of power. The American people have been played by the power behind the oligarchs of the military industrial complex who had lined their pockets using Russia as a bogeyman.

Putin to me is what the world needs. Someone who can stand up to the West. War and body bags are synonymous with the US. They have waged war for 230 years of its 245 years of existence. Its Military Industrial Complex, as warned by the late President Eisenhower, is not abating over the decades. War is business and war is necessary to maintain the power of the US dollar and military for the survival of the US and its hegemonic world order. However no one is held responsible for it. No Western media has questioned the atrocities committed by the West. Why is the US not a member of the UN human right council? Why? What about the human lives of the Iraqis, Syrians, Yemenis, Palestinian, Vietnamese? Are they not HUMAN? Why is the world not condemning the US and the West?
Humanity has been thrown out of the window decades ago by the US and its Western allies and the world is duped to think that the US and the West are doing it for democracy, freedom of speech and human rights by the ever powerful Western media who dominated the world in a single narrative that the West is good and those who opposed it, are evil. These said values are now weaponized by the West as an excuse to wage war, to impose sanctions, to stage color revolutions, coups, regime changes and in some cases assassinations to any individuals, companies and companies who do not kowtow to the West (namely US, UK, CAN, AUS, NZ and EU).
All this façade to "save" the world from authoritative powers and to embrace "democratic" western world order has to be stopped by the world community.

I am not pro-Russia nor am I a Russian shill. But I am generally quite logical and look at numbers.
For one thing--the Ruble has NOT crashed. It is 1usd to 95 rubles now. RUSSIA has requested that gas transactions to unfriendly countries in Europe be made in RUBLES starting April 1, 2022. That has brought the ruble back up again.
As for EUROPE---is it THAT united? How can they be united when it is quite obvious that the US is pushing to prolong the WAR at the expense of the EUROPEAN ECONOMY which is going to see inflation SKYROCKET? That's not very logical, is it? And why did Macron come out to disagree with what Biden said in Poland? Germany is starting to fret. Hungary does not want to have a part of this.
One has to differentiate between theatrics and optics in front of the camera and WHAT is REALLY going on in the board room behind the scenes.
So my reading of this is---because Singapore was UNDER DURESS and COMPELLED to GO ALONG with SANCTIONS against RUSSIA--K. Mahbhubani also has to sing along with that narrative. It may NOT be what he REALLY thinks deep in his heart.
