    And here's another reason to get the Bilt card: a host-read ad on the "Morning Announcements" podcast says we can now earn points when making mortgage payments. The host says she's doing it herself in fact. The ad has run on several episodes this week.

      I'll wait for an official announcement from Bilt before confirming that. Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean the terms allow for it, so there could be a risk.

    I am new to the Bilt card and have never had a points card before; with rent as high as it is it seemed silly not to try the card. Now I put everything on the card and have already accumulated 22,000 points in two months of use. It is a MUST to pay it off in full as I go since the interest rate is 29.99%.

    hard to fit it in with 5/24 and other sign up bonuses. The max amount you get back in a year from rent is less than normal sign up bonuses. And the 5 required purchases is annoying. But still a good card if dont care about all that.

    • @MarkReese

That's easy to manage with the possibility of earning some basic rewards while keeping focused on building smart financial habits & building your score. However, some people prefer to get more if their focus is on the rewards.
      There isn't a "right" answer for everyone, and there is not a set rule.

      There's now an option to redeem points as a statement credit to go towards your bill, but it's a horrific value at 0.55¢ per point (e.g. 10,000 points = $55).
      Cash back as a deposit to an account is not an option.

    can you pay mortgage with it? It has the routing and account number and lets you connect your checking account with it...

    • @JZWY
      @JZWY ปีที่แล้ว

      So what happens when you enter the routing and checking account information into a mortgage portal? Does it reject the payment?

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, mortgages are not eligible.
      What exactly happens if you try it? I can't say as I haven't tried it.
      Bilt's internal team validates charges and ensures compliance with Bilt's Terms & Conditions.
      Not following the rules could have consequences. To me, it's not worth risking an account closure, points forfeiture, etc.

    If my landlord only takes cash, can I send the bilt check to myself(to earn the points) deposit it and withdraw to pay him cash? (Extra steps I know but at least now I get the points)

    • @erick-_-65oo
      @erick-_-65oo ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know bilt them selfs send the check to your landlord ans you pay it off with them and get points

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure why you'd want to do that? Bilt sends the check to your landlord for you & you still earn points.
