    Hi John, good work on the phantom! Some info about the HAF F-4s, you need to remove the Litening pod if you want to be accurate. It is used only by the upgraded F-4E AUP phantoms operated by 338SQ ‘Ares’. These planes have 4 IFF ‘bird slicers’ in front of the canopy also the cockpit arrangement is different including new MFD monitors. The Meng kit provides everything for a classic late Echo variant. Regards from Athens Greece!

      Thank you George - I just had another email from someone else informing me of the same thing. My research was certainly lacking going in on this build, so I kind of winged it. I promise my next Greek build will be more accurate. I appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching!

    Top job on that John. I’ve got the F-4G version of that kit and it appears just as good in the box. Looking forward to breaking it out once I get back off vacation. Currently in San Diego, CA.

    Good evening John, I have nothing too pressing to do at work tonight ( nightvshift ) so I havev watched this video, and I was blown away with how great the finish was, you have completed a really outstanding job, congratulations on a job well done, very best to you and Mrs G from Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍

      Hi Les- how I hated working overnights back in the day. Thanks for the kind words- this was a great project and I'm looking forward to building another one soon. Always good to hear from you- cheers from Texas!

    I concur with your comments. I just built a highly weathered Egyptian version. As you said it’s a great kit. I used Eduard seatbelts as the ejection seats a bit sparse in detail.

    • @MisterGsWorkbench
      @MisterGsWorkbench  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds cool - I wound up using some leftover PE straps on the upper parts of the seats just to fill it in a little. Next one will have those 3D printed seats. Thanks for watching!

    Nice job! I just got this kit the other day. Are you going to OKC this weekend for Soonercon?

    This kit is indeed excellent, a lot of fun to build. The seats need to be replaced or at least add a seat harness . The only problem with this kit I found was the weird box above the nose gear bay. I couldn't get the bottom nose panel to sit correctly with that box in the way, so I removed it and everything just snapped together.

    • @MisterGsWorkbench
      @MisterGsWorkbench  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I picked up some 3D printed seats for the next one - just can't understand why Meng didn't include some kind of harness, even if it was a decal. That bay on the left side was just a head scratcher- completely unnecessary! All things considered- I'd buy many more of these. Appreciate your feedback!

      @MisterGsWorkbench I plan on at least three more. I've built the F-4G, one F-4E in the green wrap around camouflage for an Airforce buddy of mine now I'm about to build the grey F-4E for my collection. I'd love to build one of these kits in southeast Asia camouflage but I haven't found a decal set for a late F-4E yet.

    very nicely done. always have liked the Greek F-4's. How did you do the cammo? freehand or masks? Three toned cammo schemes are a pain....I've done a few (USN aggressors and IAF Falcons). Got me a Meng F-4E coming and some SWS EJ's in the stash. Need to do a side by side build to see how they compare. No doubt they will not come close to the Tamiya kit.

    • @MisterGsWorkbench
      @MisterGsWorkbench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much- I think you'll enjoy the Meng kit as the engineering and fit were terrific. I did the camouflage freehand using my Sotar 2020 and some well thinned paint on low air pressure. Feel free to share your results later on, and thanks for watching!

    I think you’ve just sold the idea of me getting this kit.!.Ok not hard to do being I’ve always been a MASSIVE F-4 fan but I keep hearing so much good about this kit that watching your video has put the cherry on top of this choice..Your build looks just marvelous and classic nato F-4.
    Thanks for your video and all the best from Blighty.!🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

    • @MisterGsWorkbench

      Thanks very much! The final clear coat is VMS acrylic satin. I really like how it sprays (matter of fact I need to order more). Appreciate you watching!

    Awesome build, and awesome finish! Darn thing looks real. But just for future reference, The flaps (adjacent to the body) are never down when the airplane is sitting at rest. Only the ailerons are down, (aileron droop) because of lack of hydraulic pressure. The flaps on the otherhand are held up mechanically and must be held in the extended (down) by hydraulic pressure. Without pressure they remain retracted (up). But this is not your fault, its Mengs fault. They make the modeler "think" they can model them down (ok for inflight), but unless the engines are running, is not accurate to have them down. But non of this takes away from your fantastic work! Nice Job on the build. I'm impressed and love it!

      Good observation, ILSRYW4, that the aircraft configuration in this great build is not quite right. HOWEVER, the flaps could in fact be down when the airplane is "sitting at rest" ... BUT the leading edge flaps, or in this case slats, would also have to be down/out. Such was the normal procedure for German Phantoms, and there are many pictures and videos showing this configuration. In USAF service, it was normal to have slats/flaps up when parked ... HOWEVER, the crew chief could ask the pilot to drop the flaps before shut down if work/inspection had to be done in that area. BTW, the flap down position in slatted birds is 30degrees (no half or full down as in hard wing birds).
      So, Mr G, I suggest on your next build you raise the flaps as suggested by ILSRWY4 ... or drop the slats as well as the flaps.
