Tip for the F-4C and F-4F early-you can take a pod of mighty mice for some bootleg flares. @@ODST_Parker I don't think the F-104J is so bad. Granted, I'm good at sneaking around and taking high speed deflection shot, so I may be unusually good at extracting results from the thing. I still cherish the time I beat an F-4E in a dogfight with it, though (was being chased from 4 km, turned flat around, then dodged the deflection shot and went for a steep climbing spiral with maximum flaps setting but no airbrakes. Idea was to stay away from the Phantom's nose while also stalling last, and it just barely worked with the Phantommissing a couple more chances in the climb). But I imagine the F-104S ASA is just all around better, so if you didn't like it, I guess you won't like the 104 J either. T-2 now gets 9Ps at 9.7, though, so should be great, while F-1 is basically the same plane but with two more 9Ps at 10.3. The BR difference made more sense when the T-2 was stuck with 9Es. Anyways, those two planes have decent turning performance, though not perfect. They hold their own but have no flares iirc.
@@galaxlordcz3933 Yeah so the F-4E block 58 would be an F-4E "late", as in a 1980s configuration. Engine, airframe, and rader are essentially the same (engine is now smokeless but same thrust). The main differences are the weapons payload options. You would now be able to carry the AIM-7F and M variants, as well as AIM-9P-4 and -5, which are essentially all aspect variant of the -9P. Could even carry the -9L. For air to ground it can equip all the GBU bomb options from the 80s, so GBU-10, 12, etc. But of particular interest would be the AGM-65D, the thermal version of the Maverick, as well as Shrike and standard arm anti-radiation missiles. I think this should be added as a separate aircraft from the current F-4E but in the same folder. Especially since dynamic BRs based on modifications are not a thing in the game. And just to pay respect to the iconic Vietnam era F-4e in it's existing 1972/73 configuration. BR 11.3 most likely. A bit more deadly in air-2-air with the -9Ls and 7Fs, but still not the best due to the lack of PD radar. But like the existing F-4E, it would be quite capable for CAS. Kind of like how the existing F-4E is better and CAS and the F-4J is better at air-to-air; you would now have improved versions of both those roles with the F-4E-58 and F-4S respectively.
Real nice vid, but one thing I can add: The engine in the F-4S while in XRAY say are the same thrust output, if you run WTRTI, they end up putting out an extra 200-300Kilograms of force PER ENGINE, which I guess cancels out the extra drag from those flaps. Quite quick in a straight line with that extra thrust.
The F-4J and F-4S have the same engines so if you run the same test you should be getting the same result. Last time I checked the files I saw some differences between the F4E engine but when i compared F4J and S I saw no difference
@@jaek_898 Whatever it takes to make it playable lol. Still though, I want a BR range to exist where early supersonic aircraft can thrive without clubbing earlier subsonics or facing 30G missiles without flares.
@pilotvictor7896 The F-4C never had flares IRL. Since it's been added to the game not a single person has found any proof that it ever carried flares even once. It had illumination flares IIRC, but never decoy flares, the manual page that commonly gets thrown around cuts out the next page that says "F-4D Only". But if you have proof by all means submit a bug report I'd love for the F4C to get flares.
If they converted the existing plane there would be no changes to stats or economy or any of that. It's just a model update and a name change but internally it would use the same vehicle ID. The same thing happened to the CV 90105 TML for example when they converted it to the XC-8.
The difference between the H and G missle is that the H tracks slightly further off boresight mind you it won't lock more degrees off bore but will allow the missile continue to track at higher angles after launch
Track rate has nothing to do with off boresight ingame, I've tested it in CDK missions. Track rate only matters when the missile is making huge corrections at very close range, and even then, the difference is so negligable that the missile isn't maneuverable enough to take advantage of it at that point. IRL it's supposed to be how quickly the seeker can pivot on its gimbal but ingame it's just this weird "responsiveness" value that only matters when it's set to
It obviously wasn’t mentioned in the video but for those CAS enjoyers only the F-4E, Kurnass ,Kurnass 2000 and F-4F can carry guided weapons with all of the able to carry AGM-65s (granted the F-4F can only carry 2) and all of them but the F-4F able to carry TV guided bombs. The Kuranass 2000 can also use the GBU family of laser guided bombs. all phantoms American phantoms can carry bombs ranging from 250lb to 1000lb including retarded bombs. USAF phantoms can additionally choose to carry 3x2000lb bombs or 4x 500kg Napalm bombs or 3xM61 gunpods. All American phantoms can carry Zunis and Mighty Mouse rockets The German phantom like the American ones can carry all bombs and rockets up to 2000lb bombs and Zunis, they also get the option of a single 3000lb bomb for fun. They can only carry 2 M61s tho and the F-4F late can not carry napalm. British phantoms can only carry 1000 and 540lb bombs, additionally they use SNEB rockets instead of might mouse. They only get the single M61 and no guided weapons. Japanese phantoms get 500lb, 750lb and 1000lb including retarded bombs but lack guided weapons. They do have access to 3x M61 The Kurnass has the exact same option as the F-4E with one exception being a lack of GBU-15s. The same applies to the Kurnass 2000 but it gets Paveways instead.
As someone with over 10,500 kills in phantoms in wt: I’m still waiting for the F-4E/F/J/S/FG1/FGR2/F-4J(UK) to get their real life Aim-9Ls since literally every match they face 4th gens with these missiles.
Same goes for other types that had them in real life or even in game, like the A-7D. The AIM-9Ls of the Corsair II were taken away because having those at its initial BR was too powerful. Then they raised the BR by a lot and introduced more aircraft with 30g all aspect missiles below it, but 'forgot' to give the A-7D and by then A-7E back the AIM-9Ls. Sometimes it feels like Gaijin wants to make us believe the AIM-9L is super modern, despite being from a few years after the Vietnam War. Alternatively they just want players to think it's OP by limiting its availability.
@@alaskanbas6507 I usually mention those but I forgot. The A-7E had it too, as well as the British Jaguar GR1A. I think it’s high time for all modern western stuff to get it. The Aim-9L was testing as early as 1972. I saw pictures of it mounted to an F-8 Crusader at China Lake. Gaijin does have a habit of adding experimental missiles on occasion (Sraam on harrier and hunter). If they want an “op” version they should add the Aim-9M which is a 9L with IRCCM
@@NickThePilotUSA Oh, it was being tested as early as the latter stages of the Vietnam War, that's pretty cool. Yeah, the AIM-9M is more so what one could call OP. Wouldn't it make sense for the F-16A and perhaps F-14B to have the M?
@@alaskanbas6507 yeah they could have the 9M. Actually also the 9M was carried in the 1980s by F-4Ds in the Air National guard from what I’ve seen, which would likely mean the F-4E carried it too. The E was the last model the US retired in 1996.
@@NickThePilotUSA Interesting, here's hoping Gaijin will acknowledge that as well and perhaps change something about the quite unrealistic Phantom loadouts. I'd personally be fine with it if they split the F-4E into an early and late subvariant, perhaps in a dropdown folder. The early one would be similar to the current one, but the late one would feature more modern weapons systems and the Pave Spike targeting pod.
I Once got the m60 Rise from a crate i openend and i sold it for about 300 bucks on the gjn market (dumb i know, its now worth much more) and i ended up buying many premium packs, premium account and....the F4F Early. Didnt knew back then it has no flares. Its a cool plane, but the no flare factor makes it hard to play for sure
Cant wait for the F4F ICE addition!! The west Germany tree is silent with the new major updates and with addition of Mig29 and SU22m4, it wont be long before F4f ICE will be added into the game
I think it’s stupid that other countries get more phantoms than the USA, I call for more US phantom variants. Like the F4G wild weasel variant or the F4A, which was pretty much the first phantom.
F-4C should you play it? Absolutey YES!....... But only play it as bomber and with talisman. The only counterpart in US techtree for perfect grinder is F-105. With F-4C which is fastest bomber in 10.0 around. it mean you can basiclly guarantee to took 2 base on a roll. But still need to be awared the all aspect missile.
Important to note and I bet it’s been said but the f4j has large bore flares so they’re more effective counter measures for the better ir missiles like aim9l’s
The F-4J has normal (small caliber) flares. If it had large caliber flares it would say "Large Caliber Countermeasures x60" instead of "Countermeasures x60"
I think F4C is still quite useful due to its 10.0 br. Thanks to 10.0 gold plane users, I usually get matched with 9.3~10.3 match, which means there’s not many flares, and this machine is the only machine that can fight throughout the whole game time. It has total 8 AA missiles 10000 pounds of bomb(with bomb computer) and has 1200 round gun pod(I know it spreads and inaccurate but I think the spreading makes me to hit the target easier, like a shotgun buckshot shell) at one setup.
Hmm I like the F-4C, it fits my slower playstyle pretty good and have several games with 4 kills. And with all those premiums after sale, it is sometimes pretty easy to play in late game.
British Phatoms should get the wing pylon Skyflashes and the FGR.2 should be capable of carrying a better A2G loadout which includes the AGM-12 and more bombs
Guys life hack, f4c at 25k feet, Mach 1.4 launching aim7s at bandits out to 20k and honestly it works especially if you crank, no flares needed (50/50, sometimes you merge though)🍻
Mind that the model and loadout of pretty much every Phantom in-game isn't period correct. Still love them though and I'll be sure to enjoy the DCS F-4E once that's released :)
Still annoyed the FGR hasn't got their Aim-9Ls despite carrying them. Fingers crossed we get them at some point, maybe superTEMPS too but not sure if the FGR was able to carry them
The worst thing about F-4F early is, that after I got it, every single guide said, that Phantoms should fly high... (Absolute suicide move without flares.)

My man used synthwave, respect
Real nice vid, but one thing I can add:
The engine in the F-4S while in XRAY say are the same thrust output, if you run WTRTI, they end up putting out an extra 200-300Kilograms of force PER ENGINE, which I guess cancels out the extra drag from those flaps. Quite quick in a straight line with that extra thrust.
The F-4J and F-4S have the same engines so if you run the same test you should be getting the same result. Last time I checked the files I saw some differences between the F4E engine but when i compared F4J and S I saw no difference
@@jaek_898 yes that's what I meant I forgot to specify lol
Makes me think "hmm F-4S is just a better F-4E"
7:36 yeah imagine this aircraft with Rolls-Royce Medway turbofans
Closed captions got turned on automatically, and I think I'll be calling the Kurnass "Current ass" from now on
Lol this is one of the reasons ive been doing captions manually on the newer vids
Rocket pods are offensive flares :>it takes some great skill to fight using them.
Great video. Hoping that the F-4C can be made playable again because it was fun to fly a while ago but well, it's ass now with no flares.
Might be a hot take but I honestly just want them to convert it to an F-4D and bump it to 10.3. They've converted vehicles like that in the past.
@pilotvictor7896 imgur.com/a/6qCeDPJ
Yep, F-4D only, and no proof that the F-4C ever mounted them or even could have mounted them.
IRL it's supposed to be how quickly the seeker can pivot on its gimbal but ingame it's just this weird "responsiveness" value that only matters when it's set to
Nice Video
I love F4‘s😅👍
my new favourite youtube
All American phantoms can carry Zunis and Mighty Mouse rockets
The German phantom like the American ones can carry all bombs and rockets up to 2000lb bombs and Zunis, they also get the option of a single 3000lb bomb for fun.
They do have access to 3x M61
The Kurnass has the exact same option as the F-4E with one exception being a lack of GBU-15s. The same applies to the Kurnass 2000 but it gets Paveways instead.
As someone with over 10,500 kills in phantoms in wt:
I’m still waiting for the F-4E/F/J/S/FG1/FGR2/F-4J(UK) to get their real life Aim-9Ls since literally every match they face 4th gens with these missiles.
Phantom rider, very based aircraft
I Once got the m60 Rise from a crate i openend and i sold it for about 300 bucks on the gjn market (dumb i know, its now worth much more) and i ended up buying many premium packs, premium account and....the F4F Early. Didnt knew back then it has no flares. Its a cool plane, but the no flare factor makes it hard to play for sure
Cant wait for the F4F ICE addition!! The west Germany tree is silent with the new major updates and with addition of Mig29 and SU22m4, it wont be long before F4f ICE will be added into the game
I know, I hope it will alleast have sparrows
@@Tweetsix Sparrows? F4F ICE ‘KWS’ has AIM120 as Sparrows XD
Kinda funny, I really enjoy the adtw and i would say it is one of the best phantoms in the game for me personally.
But still need to be awared the all aspect missile.
video's great however i'd like to see the differences between all the mig21s
Important to note and I bet it’s been said but the f4j has large bore flares so they’re more effective counter measures for the better ir missiles like aim9l’s
The F-4J has normal (small caliber) flares. If it had large caliber flares it would say "Large Caliber Countermeasures x60" instead of "Countermeasures x60"
can you do one comparing all mig 21s? (with variants such as j7e and j8)
still waiting for the F-4D gaijin come on already 😩
classic jaek banger
Ayy, just what the doctor ordered
How cool that all of them are powercrept now
Man the early is good because it turns the best and is the fastest thing at it's br
The FG phantoms are pretty good but now that the Tornadoes have released Gaijin is probably gonna forget to give it AIM-9Ls
F-4c IMO can be very fun, if you don't care about being effective and take 3 gunpods. Yeah you give up performance but it's funny.
Now, question. Which one should I give the Mobius paint job? The E like the game had, or the Carrier versions like the game wants you to think it is?
The C needs countermeasure pods at least as pilots have said it had
Please do all the MiG-21 compared. Great video btw
British Phatoms should get the wing pylon Skyflashes and the FGR.2 should be capable of carrying a better A2G loadout which includes the AGM-12 and more bombs
Anyone else annoyed as hell with Gaijin labeling Phantom F.3 ”F-4J(UK)”? Why not F-4K and F-4M then too?
Gaijin's names are all over the place. For a game about vehicles you would think they would at least be good at getting the names right.
@@jaek_898they should honestly hire you to fix them all, since you're doing it anyway
Guys life hack, f4c at 25k feet, Mach 1.4 launching aim7s at bandits out to 20k and honestly it works especially if you crank, no flares needed (50/50, sometimes you merge though)🍻
"The British tree is not worth investing in" oi mate sod you yeah it is
Ahh the F-4C, a plane too dogshit to fight anything above it but would be a monster to anything below it, yet i still love flying that beautiful brick
I think it's worth making a comparison of all the MiG-21s
Mind that the model and loadout of pretty much every Phantom in-game isn't period correct. Still love them though and I'll be sure to enjoy the DCS F-4E once that's released :)
GJ thank you. Sub from 'since 2013 WT nerd' for you.
Jaek finally fully awake
Still annoyed the FGR hasn't got their Aim-9Ls despite carrying them. Fingers crossed we get them at some point, maybe superTEMPS too but not sure if the FGR was able to carry them
Since there aren’t as many it may not be good but the f104 and obviously the mig family would be great
do MiG-21 family variant mate, great video!
I would really like to see a Breakdown of the mirage family
(doen't forget the Kfirs)
The worst thing about F-4F early is, that after I got it, every single guide said, that Phantoms should fly high... (Absolute suicide move without flares.)
Can you make the same video about MiG-23/27 family?
dis grat vid
Next time you could do Mig-21s. Video fire though.
reupload with added f4f KWS LV "ice" from Germany in the future?
Wish ghe f4f late got its sparrows back, it would be a beast
Can you make a video like this but with the mirage (f1 included)?
Can’t wait for f-4G
