Also this is the gold kit which should be better fit. I can only imagine how bad the original kit is.
It sounds like the Gold kit inherited a lot of the issues associated with the original kit. I'm not exactly shocked.
@@MisterGsWorkbench so in your opinion if one is going to build a legacy Hornet get the Hobbyboss kit?
@@juancho420 I have not built the HB kit, but that being said, there are people online who have explained fixes for the Kinetic Gold kit that correct the nose issues. Honestly I think it's a more affordable kit and if you build the nose in the correct order it's a decent kit.
The American Motors of the model kit industry. Pieces of crap for the most part.
@@j.heilig7239 honestly I can't pass up some of their kits. The instructions will always suck so there's that. Their -60 series of helicopters would be highly recommended if they had only gotten the instructions to correspond to each variant. Thanks for watching!
You've got to drop that crap music.
@@ExileNJ thanks for the advice. And thanks for watching...
Tamiya is better for half the prize
The Tamiya kit is good as long as you only want a -C with no modifications. Unfortunately they never did a -D, or even an -A for that matter... Thanks for watching!
Eduard never stopped making re-boxed Limited Editions. I have their F-104 "The Zipper" kit from 2023 and it's top notch, for roughly the same price as the Kinetic base kit.
@@zacklewis342 you're correct- the only difference then to now is they do their decals in house. I have that kit as well. Thanks for your feedback and I'll clarify that in the next video.
Love your series inspired me to buy the set
@@johnlanger7852 thank you very much! Hope you enjoy the builds!
Came out very good 💪🏻 nice work
Thank you very much!
I like to get eduard L.E. Kits (the ones I fancy) as soon as possible after release because they are hard to get at a reasonable price when they sell out, here in Holland! Sorry I missed out on their MiG19, still looking for that one!! Always great value…
I enjoy the Limited Edition boxings because they're usually kits I like anyway, and now they're packed with PE and nicer decals. I thought about that MiG-19 as well, and kick myself for not getting one. Thanks for your feedback!
Eduard has always done good with their kits. Until recently it was the only regular brand to include PE parts in the box at the same price point, Tamiya does it very limited on some kits. These accurate miniature re-release kits are a welcome treat, they always did a better job on the base kits I thought. Add PE and some resin upgrades and it goes to a new level. I had 4 kits from them 2 were P-51 mustangs which I still have 1 that's new in box, the rest were built and always went together with little or no fuss. Eduard kits are worth it, not perfect but the Profi-Pack kits add those PE and resin bits with masks and make it a better value.
I concur - these Special Edition kits were excellent value - familiar kits with just enough extras to make them a treat. Thanks for your observations!
Really enjoyed the video and your honesty.regarding the kit and the problems you had with it.
@@ericbeaton7211 I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
With Eduard's treatment of an SBD I'd expect PE for the dive brakes. I'm frankly disappointed they didn't provide that.
@@HotelPapa100 I'm guessing they wanted to strike a balance between included items and cost. I still think it's good value, all things considered. Appreciate your feedback!
Of course you are. Never designed a better kit but constantly bash those that do, you almost helped destroy the hobby in the late 90's with the rivet counting crap and armchair inspection of others builds. Thankfully the majority learned to ignore this crap and the hobby has made a comeback.
This video would be better without the annoying and unnecessary music.
@@fizzyridertoo I appreciate your feedback. I'll take that into consideration in future videos. Thanks for watching!

No a fan either tbh . Guitar music of that kind is a u.s thing only these day's. You still have men in spandex with long bleached permed hair .
@@MartinSparks-ef9gr LMAO - yeah there's a ton of 80s metal bands down here in Texas 🤣
I can verify. Built 3 accurate kits, and the Eduard boxing. Enjoyed the Eduard kit the most.
@@steves1112000 good to hear! Thanks for watching.
I have the original Accurate Miniatures SBD5, and the Accurate Miniatures TBF1C in 1/48th scale.
@@erikbender1967 I’m curious to get your take on them. They look great in the box.
@@MisterGsWorkbench they look really good, but the directions are written like a manual for your car or how to setup your tv. The molds were top of the line 20 some years ago. Decals are simple none of the things that came in the Eduard se kit. However I have found the canopy masks for both kits on squadron. Right now I'm working on the Tamiya 1/35 M41 Walker Bulldog.
Accurate was a great model company, the only plane of theirs I have left in the box is the P-51. I am hoping to get more as most of my unbuilt collection is still Hasegawa and Fujimi. Eduard profi-packs were always a treat.
I love Eduard limited edition kits!😊

Hi John, that looks to be a great kit, and should go together easily, but if I may make a request for when you build, could you do it in the RNZAF marking?🤔 but what ever I am looking forward to the build, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les

I just finished the Accurate Minatures SBD-1 pre-war Dauntless. It was a fantastic kit. I also have the SBD-3 and the Avenger all from Accurate Minatures.
This is my one and only AM kit. I had this exact boxing about three years ago and managed to wreck it. I'm hoping to enjoy this one a little more. Thanks for watching!
Considering you have a very good base kit, plus all of the Eduard goodies, anything less than $60 is very good value. I'm not crazy about the decal options, but that's just a personal thing.
@@johndillon8051 definitely a matter of tastes. I think they struck a fair balance of variety though. Appreciate you watching!
I have the Academy boxing of the -5. Years ago mid 2000's I built Acurate Miniatures dual kit "Pearl Harbor " came with a SBD-2 Dauntless and their Vindicator. Loved them, has some trouble with the Vindictor if I remember right. Still have both, flying in a spare bedroom from the ceiling, with a couple of Tamiya zeroes zooming in on them. Enjoy the kit.
Appreciate the feedback - thanks for watching!
I have built the Tamiya kit. it is a great kit. Was looking at this as a possible build? On the fence now. They always look great in the box. As you say build it. That's the only way to know what you get. For the money.
The Tamiya kit is definitely the easier route to a Thunderbolt. The Miniart kit is nice but fussy - take your time and you're rewarded with a nice result. Honestly I won't do another one...for now.
I'm to start with exactly the same Model from Special Hobby. Found it on a sale for 10€...now i know why😂 Let's hope the best...and if it doesn't work i do a crashside Diorama🤣 Have a nice day.
@@papaaaaaaa2625 I'm sure with a little more patience this can build up into a nice plane. I just want the right person for the job 😂
@@MisterGsWorkbench Ah, we'll see. I always wanted a Boston III (don't ask me why, I love this plane) and was really happy after I found this one. It is not a plane that you can find as usual as the common ones. Thanks for the Video and the tips included. Wish luck.
I’d rather buy a Testors version than spending money on these unfitting modern kits. Hmm…oh! Tamiya has one too.
Hi John, how do you get on with Tamiya masks in their kits? Noticed you used them On the Intakes. Obviously they’re not die cut so do you cut them on the line or just inside the line? That’s why I’ve never used them just incase I cut them wrong then they don’t fit hence I’ve just gone with an Eduard set. Good work so far on the Grumman Turkey.

Looking good. When I forger to drill the supposed holes I take a flashlight and try to shed light from the opposite side if possible (in this case you could have used the opening behind the cockpit). The plastic is thinner at the location of the holes so it shines through and can easily spot where one needs to drill.

Love Tamiya kits, been building them for years, even their old kits go together great.
