Beethoven It's really not, there's a difference between personal preference and actual complex perfection in composition. Ludwig's theme is just so, powerful, every instrument and vocal is placed just where it needs to.
King Barney I'm not even talking about personal opinion. Yes, the Opening and the reprise (recapitulation) of Ludwig, the Holy Blade is really good. But everything between is poorly executed. It's the same melody with slight variations looping 5 times. And the strings in that point are screeching too loudly. It just gets noisy after the theme loops for the 2nd time.
I prefer when people have played previous Dark Souls games and react to this fight. It makes it so much more enjoyable to me when they know what the Moonlight Greatsword is.
Probably not, King's Field is pretty old and a bit overshadowed by Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Hell, the Moonlight Greatsword even appeared in their mech series, Armored Core.
Lobos's reaction is almost my reaction when I first fought Ludwig. When I got to his second phase, I was in awe because of Ludwig's transformation of recovering his sanity and when he revealed the Holy Moonlight Sword and the music. When I died to his huge AOE, I wasn't even mad. Ludwig is definitely one of the best video game bosses of all time.

No other bosses before him did this, not in Dark Souls, not in Bloodborne, they all started using their powers and beastly side more and more. Ludwig was devoted enough to his job as a Hunter that even in this nightmare he still woke up. Even as he falls, he props against his partner, his mentor, the only thing that stayed with him even after he lost his humanity. His sword, he falls down not like a slaughtered beast, but like a proud Warrior and Hunter. This is also him in his monster form, still having limitations, I can't even begin to imagine how the fight would go if he was human. Probably how the fight with Artorias would go if he didn't have his left arm broken. Let's not even talk about the soundtrack which is incredible, I've not seen such a great soundtrack for a boss in years. I do agree that even though it sounds amazing it keeps on repeating and there isn't much difference in it but imagine that this was made for a Boss Fight, not background music, AND KEEP IN MIND THIS IS JUST A DLC, and this soundtrack is better than a lot from the main game, and even other games' sountracks.

Watching this vid again after completing Bloodborne about 2 months ago. I'm still grinning watching it. I honestly didn't end up seeing phase 2 all that often, because of how much phase 1 fucked me over. I'm glad I learned to stay in close when he raises the sword up before the giant slam. The damage the first little AoE does is minimal and it's so easy to get back and stay in close to avoid the energy wave from the sword slam. When I fought Lothric and Lorian in DS3 I quickly noticed that it's basically a modified version of Lugwig's attack. They just made it way easier to avoid; that's assuming you can find him, lock on, and dodge in time since every single time he teleports away to use that attack it breaks lock-on. Having completed both Bloodborne and DS3 finally, Ludwig still ranks among the top 10 of boss fights from both of those games.
Lobos I think even did it twice. He started to talk, and then an obnoxious text-to-voice donation came in and he ran away to cut off the conversation until the donation was done being read.
If you are one of the people who read all the descriptions of items and try to follow the story this fight is so powerful. Finally getting to meet the legendary Ludwig. Best souls encounter imo.
It's a shame that everyone instinctively attacks Lugwig's head without speaking to him, even though of course, for the interaction to take place they had to wear any chest clothing from the church. I always gave him a few last comforting words before leaving, at least letting him know that his efforts in life were not in vain.
God that MUSIC is so good and dodging the beams from the Moonlight GS feel so GOOD and everything about this fight is INCREDIBLE I’d go so far as to say every fight in bloodborne is incredible, except Darkbeast Parl. Nobody loves you, parl.
Bloodborne has the most beautiful iteration of the moonlight greatsword. And the weapon are is badass. its like he is hitting you with a getsuga tenshou everything he send energy at you.
The music still sends shivers up my spine to this very day, and i doubt anything will ever change that. Bloodborme has the best music of any game hands down.
Imagine sharing the sheet music to someone like mozart or other musicians in and around that era and telling the story behind it. A holy warrior corrupted and twisted into a beast until the light of the moon had guided him back for one more battle against hell itself.
Ah, trying to beat this boss with the Chikage was a pain! The damage was great, but so was the damage I took, I only had 20 in vigour to stay within level 100 XD still a fun fight.
I'm late I know, but I can explain why this weird phenomenon happened. Lobos had a lot of chances to kill Ludwig much earlier, but he purposely didn't take them. He had planned to fight Ludwig on NG+7 with only his bare fists later, but also just Lobos' attitude in general is that he likes to truly LEARN the fights before conquering them, so he spent all that time wanting to perfectly learn it. So he died a lot, but in the end he killed Ludwig like a pro because he was purposely not winning until he could do the fight flawlessly, or nearly flawless.
The first time I heard the music in the second phase, I literally had chills. I was so stunned at how amazing that transition was, I immediately died (in game).
I think it's interesting how Ludwig is basically two completely different boss fights. Other bosses will add new attacks, or summon back up or whatever, but the core of it tends to remain the same between phases. Not so with Ludwig. In the first phase you have the beast, in the second you have the knight, and there is virtually no overlap between the two. Not their attacks, their stances, their vulnerabilities, none of it stays the same. It's honestly rather fascinating to watch. Are there other bosses that are the same way?
Ah LobosJr. This is the same man who later beat Ludwig on NG+7 with nothing but fists
John Schaeffer MAN FISTING A HORSE TO DEATH!
yea, he is insane
Oh man i thought you're just joking but damn LobosJr is a beast!
Holy shit really? What a monster. Father mask off to that gentleman.

And then not a single one of them tried to talk to him. Lame.
They did (at least Lobos did), but it was cut out from this video.
Lobos I think even did it twice. He started to talk, and then an obnoxious text-to-voice donation came in and he ran away to cut off the conversation until the donation was done being read.
that Kieth Ballard guy literally said "I hope he didn't have any more dialogue" what are you on about
You know Ludwigs cool because they gave him an attack the PS4 simply can't handle
When the ost is same epic like the fight itself...
Man, nobody talked to the head
If you are one of the people who read all the descriptions of items and try to follow the story this fight is so powerful. Finally getting to meet the legendary Ludwig. Best souls encounter imo.
This video reminds me why I love LobosJr
10:05 ... my boy needs a smoke after that one lmao
It's a shame that everyone instinctively attacks Lugwig's head without speaking to him, even though of course, for the interaction to take place they had to wear any chest clothing from the church. I always gave him a few last comforting words before leaving, at least letting him know that his efforts in life were not in vain.
Nice seeing Lobos’ reaction on here. Always a joy going back to his whole reaction to the fight, and especially the OST. :]
God that MUSIC is so good and dodging the beams from the Moonlight GS feel so GOOD and everything about this fight is INCREDIBLE
I’d go so far as to say every fight in bloodborne is incredible, except Darkbeast Parl.
Nobody loves you, parl.
Yes man. This game is a masterpiece. Still play it this this day
"Is it the sword?", "He remembers how to use a greatsword" Bruh, is not just a sword, that beauty is the Moonlight Greatsword.
Bloodborne has the most beautiful iteration of the moonlight greatsword.
And the weapon are is badass.
its like he is hitting you with a getsuga tenshou everything he send energy at you.
6:18 Ludwig hurls two magic energy beams
gearsofdn: ᵖᵉʷ
The music still sends shivers up my spine to this very day, and i doubt anything will ever change that. Bloodborme has the best music of any game hands down.
Imagine sharing the sheet music to someone like mozart or other musicians in and around that era and telling the story behind it. A holy warrior corrupted and twisted into a beast until the light of the moon had guided him back for one more battle against hell itself.
So glad you included the seperate hear part at the end of the video!
The best boss in all the soulsborne games. I will always now use the mlgs to honour the legend of Ludwig.
The music was so good man needed to take a pee break
Big Book of Facts:
If he didn't have your edgelord sword, you wouldn't like him at all.
And also that kickass song
And that soothing voice
And the interesting lore behind him
Also the fact that the Moonlight chad sword is like "The weapon" in the fromsoft games
Everyone: “oh my fucking god”
Lobos: “I gotta go pee, I am soo exited”
Ah, trying to beat this boss with the Chikage was a pain! The damage was great, but so was the damage I took, I only had 20 in vigour to stay within level 100 XD still a fun fight.
how have I only now found this channel? thanks for finding all these and putting this together
I don't think I've seen Lobos die this much outside freak challenge runs
Edit: And then he casually completes it no healing in the end.
@@Shin_FTW Yeah in the stream he just let ludwig attack becasue he wanted to see all the attacks and learn how to dodge them
What's funny is that he did this with Malenia later on in Elden Ring
The first time I heard the music in the second phase, I literally had chills. I was so stunned at how amazing that transition was, I immediately died (in game).
...and then there is DSP...
I tried to roll! Didn't work!
I am proud to say that years later i first tried Ludwig.
Ayyy How was it?
@@pochita7004 hard.
@@SW_Y9 XD If you beaten him Good job if you havent Do keep trying!
@@pochita7004 i beat the game soon after beating the nightmare
I also managed to beat him first try, but i already played the dark souls trilogy so i knew how to fight this kind of boss
Are there other bosses that are the same way?
old comment i know, but if i remember right gael counts as a hollow for the hollowslayer greatsword's bonus damage, but only in phase 2
Chestnut Puck as profile picture ? Awesome ! 🙏🏻🖤
After dieing several times to him, I swore never to buy a f****ing Ferrari
That LobosJr reaction when he brings that AOE sword strike down
easily one of the best bosses ever.
Wait, YOU CAN KILL THE HEAD TO THE GET THE BLADE?!?!? I gotta go back there!
