Most of boss fights is "coreographed" They fight according to the music, a boss i can remember now is Mohg, he doesnt attacks you until the music plays in, and the music stops as he reachs the transition for the 2nd phase
@Henryzaum exactly why moat of their bosses are insanely well made. The fact you can feel everything, from scenery, to music, to choreography. It's insanity
Probably one of the best OSTs in any game, ever. Especially because it's of Ludwig. In Bloodborne Lore, Ludwig was one of THE guys. Gehrman was the first proper hunter, ever, who basically invented what hunters are, but Ludwig was THE guy that popularized it as the first official Church Hunter. It's also implied that he and his original order of hunters killed a *LOT* of people, and he did it all believing that his cause was the most noble in the world. That and they also burned half a city to the ground and then blamed and exiled an allied faction that helped them do it. His own madness caused by his magic sword also most likely had a large part to play in mankind's obsession with the greater powers that ended up driving the entire city into ruin. The choir is very mean for a very good reason, while the music also completely respects Ludwigs raw determination and power and his complete accomplishment, even if the ends were not the desired effect of his actions.
That. And his boss room takes place in a sewer piled with thousands of corpses as he screeches a horrible sound. He is noted as being one of the hardest and most violent bosses in all of the Souls series. With very high resist stats as well. This boss is brutal at new game + difficulty as his stun window is minimized as well. Yes, there are final bosses in the lore. You can argue between more than a few. But almost everyone agrees that everything in the game builds up to this moment. You're fighting a beast, you're fighting a man. You're fighting against "The Accursed". It has to be one of the best boss fights ever made.
Also it's not implied that they killed thousands of people. It is known. They slaughtered the entire Fishing Hamlet after presumably killing Kos or some say Kosm(whether directly or indirectly its not known) but implied they experimented on her corpse. And then locked innocent people up in Research Hall, Upper Cathedral Ward, Iosefka's Clinic and Yahar'gul to be experimented on, driven mad, tortured or even worse fates. AND that doesnt even cover the Chalice Dungeons that they spelunckered to unless this curse to begin with. Crazy how deep the lore goes for just 1 main boss.
@@haloboy817 The church hunters came after the slaughter of the fishing hamlet. The fishing hamlet slaughter was committed by the original hunters, who weren't even called hunters until that time, at the behest of byrgenwerth college. Gehrman being the first, Maria being one of his direct students. The church hunters and all other hunters came AFTER them. Ludwig was the guy that led the burning of old yharnam, among other things.
@@readingfreak8808 Yes. Although the lore just states "unknown means". However the Old Hunters before the Healing Church and the Yahar'gul Hunters, The Tomb Prospectors and potentially the Graveguards hunted beasts/Great Ones long before the events prior to Kos or some say Kosm's death. Her death was just a catalyst of a long series of collapses within the region. The "birth" of her Orphan is a very small one in part of that. The mutated fishing hamlet used her corpse for some time to harvest parasites and other pieces.

One of my favorite things about this song is that it's a waltz, so it feels like the boss, Ludwig, and the main character, The Hunter, are dancing with each other, especially with how rhythmic combat in Bloodborne is, with side stepping instead of dodge-rolling.
Ludwig the accursed and Holy Blade are the perfect accompaniment for a character ruined and destroyed by his own hubris, struggling to keep his humanity and grasping at what he can before finding his last shreds of dignity.
I never listen to the game sounds (I always either listen to an audiobook or something else while gaming) and I clicked on this video wondering if I've ever heard this boss music and I never have! It's so cool that ppl can feel and hear the epicness even without the visuals and the game it self! This is no doubt unforgettable boss and the music becomes it
Ah yes, this sweet ensemble that played 70 times in a row as Ludwig clobbered my face in repeatedly. He was my hardest time in the game. Harder than Kos imo.
it really does!! and unfortunately the first time I played DS3 was back before I had this segment on my channel! I could revisit them though and do a full listen!
Alot of amazing suggestions here already so i will go down a different path: soulsborne is very good with its music to tell a story or give a setting and all designed to make you feel which i love. Be it creepy like hail the nightmare or sweetbbut sense of lonely haven like majula from ds2. This is such a fun series! Your destiny reactions and breakdown was really great. Have you done any of the Halo game music breakdowns? That right there is some next level music.
Yep. Hes no longer rhe beast he transformed into. Hes the hunter u heard and read about. What little humanity is left in him comes out as rhe warrior and hunter he was
You know, when you mention how Ludwig's HolyBlade theme sounds heroic, a thought occured to me. Its like it was SUPPOSED to be heroic... but everything went terribly wrong for our boy Ludwig. Like when he THOUGHT he was a hero, but he ended up as another beast. Infact, it sounds like a heroic theme, but reversed in tone. When you think of Heroic sounding music, you would think it sounds..."brighter". But this just sounds hopelessly bleak, like a monster that still SEES himself as a hero, but he has no idea that hes the terror.
Ludwig was essentially the Healing Church's executioner. A self-righteous bloodthirsty crusader if you will. Once respected by all until the scourge kept spreading and they all saw him for the beast he truly was. He became so obsessed with the hunt it turned everyone against him, so his mind and body twisted to suit the dissonance.
Not really. The healing church used Ludwig and the following church hunters to clean up the mess the healing church created..Ludwig thought he was doing right and was fooled by the church. But his self righteousness and genuine nobleness was his fight...and as the blood transformed him, he fell. I don't think Ludwig was evil. Just misguided. The player hunter's conversation with him before his death tells us enough about his foolishness. He had no idea what mess the church and the hunters created.
