- G'day guys, today we are reacting to April Wine with Roller. I love this band, 4 guitars and a drummer. The sound reminds me of Status Quo and it is fantastic.

Roller was probably April Wine's heaviest, most uptempo hit. It's so weird for us Canadians of a certain age to hear younger people in other countries being shocked that they've never heard of the band. They were a constant on Canadian rock and Top40 radio in the 1970's through to the early 80's. They had moderate success in the US but never got the airplay that their talent warranted. A common problem for many great Canadian bands over the years.
I don't know man in Chicago they were all over the radio in the 70s 80s... One of my favorites

Great reaction, great band that I grew up listening too and I left you a link for another Canadian band Triumph, I believe you'll be pleased. I definitely give you credit, because you're much more open minded than me when it comes to music and that's why you're so good at what you do.

Jerry Mercer was the glue. Such a skilled band. Moffat and boys could play with anyone.
one of my favourite bands. I've seen them a few times. They are very underrated. Some of their other hits - Sign of the Gypsy Queen, Ooowatanite, Just Between You and Me. thanks for reacting to this, haven't heard it in ages!

I saw them open for Blue Oyster Cult one year, just after Nazareth.. they stole the show by a mile. They were really good. I was only familiar with their name before that night and was actually disappointed they were on the bill..until I saw them lol
Another great Canadian band.
I second Triumph as another great band to check out - any of the videos from the US Festival in 1993. They killed it there.

Status quo? Do you mean the hard Canadian rock sound? Oh, I just saw in the description Status Quo is a BAND! That would have been a nice qualifier for us old farts that aren't up on every band.
Seriously though, glad you like the song and the band.
As a Canadian Boomer who grew up with all this great music, no wonder I became a drummer for the past 50 years. Still play some April Wine, Steve Miller Band, Van Halen of course, Whitesnake, Chilliwack, Trooper, Triumph, Rush, Tragically Hip, the Bee Gees even, that was when I just started drumming. Deep Purple, Tom Petty, Bryan Adams, Cory Hart, The Northern Pikes, Joanie Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette...the list continues.

Always loved April Wine. Saw them early 80's opening for Loverboy at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco. Straight ahead rock and roll at it's finest!
The 70s definitely kicked off the dueling guitar era!
Formed back in the supergroup days, 20 years of albums, 1 a year, still touring I believe! All April Wine sings are great!!! All great musicians, great singer very much varied songs, imagine being the drummer on this song, having to fill in all that guitar sound!😮Put that on continuous, put in the earbuds, and thoroughly trash out ur run or workouts!

Best band to ever come out of Nova Scotia Canada. Try “Oowatanite” or “Weeping Widow” from them.
"Weeping Widow" is a great rocking tune too. "Say Hello" is a earlier hit, slightly different sound. April Wine had a shit ton of great songs.
"Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider would probably be in your ballpark too.
Killer song!!

They are a Southern Rock band, which I know you love that genre.

There is a Family band of extraordinary talent,, female fronted they do covers and origional music,, three brothers and two sisters, from oldest to youngest,,, Samuel lead guitar 23,,, Abigail drummer 22,,, Melody lead vocals and front woman 21, also a fenominal Bass player,,, Ethan Bass and rythum guitar 16,,, Justin keyboards age 15,,, they are called Liliac,, pronounced Lil E ack,,, it means Bat in Romanian their mom and dad are from Romania, they rock,,, check them out

I just checked your status quo and sorry to tell ya but nor even close to April Wine. The difference was status quo was more like the band sweet pop-rock and April Wine was hard Rock. you need to relisten to April Wine and then go to status quo
