This was an absolutely amazing band for those of us who truly loved talent, they were very underrated. Both Myles and Brian had amazing voices and often changed the lead vocals on all of their songs. the first song was from First Glance 1978 and the second song was from Harder n' Faster 1979 both killer albums from many others. Thanks, Casey so glad you enjoyed April Wine

Dude they headlined arenas in the States from '79 to '84. Any band that can draw 9000 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and have the show simulcast on Cedar Rapids top FM radio station is not a secret entity - especially after being the first Canadian band to debut and be put into rotation on MTV.

    • @jethro1963

On the first day of MTV, April Wine is one of only three groups (AW, The Who, Phil Collins) to have five airplays of one song (Just Between You and Me). For total airplays the day was owned by Rod Stewart and REO Speedwagon. April Wine also had Sign of The Gypsy Queen played twice. So for total airplays we have: Rod Stewart 16, REO Speedwagon 15, The Pretenders 11, The Who 9, April Wine 7, Split Enz 7. Still a good showing by AW.

Myles Goodwin was the lead singer (guy from ‘Roller’), and Brian Greenway sang lead in a few songs here and there and always did a great job. Greenway had the high vocals that were so excellent for backing harmonies.

April Wine had several lineup changes during their existence, but this was their longest lasting lineup, from 1977 to 1985. Myles Goodwyn (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Brian Greenway (guitar, harmonica, vocals), Gary Moffett (guitar, vocals), Steve Lang (bass, vocals), and Jerry Mercer (Drums). Goodwyn was the only original member remaining by this point.
They were huge in Canada, but only managed three Top 40 hits in the US: Could Have Been a Lady, Roller, and Just Between You and Me.

Just for clarity, I consider a "hit" to be a song that received a large amount of airplay and that would be generally recognizable moreso than how many units it sold. A couple of years ago I looked on Wikipedia and they had listed about 30 songs of note by AW. I would consider by my definition above, 22 of them to be "hits" That doesn't include songs that I might have heard but didn't know the title. That's a lot of "hits"

I saw them about 3 or 4 times in the early 80's and they were always fantastic. When I first heard The Warning about 2 years ago, this is the first band I thought of, the song structure, Dany singing and also playing lead, and the vocal harmonies too. Someone will murder me in the comments I'm sure, but that is what I hear. Glad to see you do some April Wine.

I grew up with April Wine from my teen days. Miles Goodwin and Jerry Mercer the drummer would be super stars today. I wonder what kind of music they would be playing.

I am back and watching this video again I Thank the Creator that I got to live when bands like April Wine were kicking ass. So much deadly music from the Scorps to April Wine to Nazerth to Rush to Deep Purple It went on and on and on I hope Heaven is just one big jam 🙂

Hopefully you've got the answers by now, ( 12:22 ) but that last song Before The Dawn was released in 1979 on the album "Harder... Faster". Great high school memories for me. Thanks for the fun reaction to these Canadian classics.

The only good thing about great Canadian bands that never got the international attention they deserved is that we got to see them in small rooms. They put on great shows. Lost count of how many times I saw them live. April Wine, Chilliwack, BTO, Big Sugar, Tragically Hip all should have been huge outside of Canada.

I wouldn't include BTO in that group.

@@jethro1963They were a good after thought from "The Guess Who". They had some BIG Hots in the States.

@@andynieuwenhuis7833 I wouldn't call BTO an after thought. In the US they had five certified gold albums and one certified platinum album and sold 30 million albums worldwide.

I was too young to go to the show but I did see them a few years later on nature of the Beast tour.
I will never forget how her mother made all this food and it was a huge feast the band really loved it

    Lovely lady, shy lady
Will tomorrow be the last day in your life
I can't free you, only plea for you
On the last days of your life
    [Chorus]
    Lady run, lady hide
    Lady run, lady hide
    [Verse 2]
    Lonely lady, lovely lady
Do you know, do you know you've lost the fight
Because we'll use you, and abuse you
On the last days of your life
    [Verse 3]
    Our tomorrow, is now today
Our last chance, to find a way
    You think we'd learn
    You think we'd try
    Tomorrow we could all die
