The are one of the most if not the most underrated 70's to mid-80's (in their prime) Rock bands of all time. It's a crime that they didn't have the commercial success and following as their fellow Canadians, Rush and to a certain degree Triumph. Live, they always nailed it just amazing chemistry.

Yes, it's been puzzling why they have been sidestepped by the Canadian music media, etc. Even BTO and The Tragically Hip have always been honoured much more than the Wine.

Haven't seen any comments on this and I don't know if y'all noticed it, but at the end of the song, the two guitars pay tribute to the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. The guitar's mix the groove from The Stone's "Satisfaction" and the Beatles "Day Tripper". I always thought that was very cool.

And our two 'reaction' guys seem to have no idea at all that that was what was happening. Their eyes didn't light up when it happened and they made no mention of it afterwards. Too bad. April Wine coming up with the delicious idea to juxtapose their catchy guitar riff inside the riffs of both the Beatles and the Stones was unbelievably clever and so very well done. Always loved it.

Just FYI... the studio they are in is (or was called) "Le Studio" it is located in Morin Heights, Quebec. Le Studio was where artists recorded and stayed as there were apartment attachments. It was the venue for many notable Canadian and international artists, including, Rush, The Police, Bee Gees, Chicago, David Bowie, April Wine and Cat Stevens.

  • @danadnauseam

This video was filmed at Le Studio outside Montreal, where Rush filmed several videos during the recording of Moving Pictures.
Roller was 1978. It came off their first album at a five-piece.
April Wine were huge in Canada,. Thewy managed three hits in the US. Their first run was from 1969 to 1986. They reunited in 1992 and are still active today, but they haven't recorded in about 15 years. Of this lineup, singer Myles Goodwyn and guitarist Brian Greenway are still with the band.

The video was shot at the same recording studio that Rush and The Police had used. It was called Le Studio and it was in the Laurentian town of Morin Heights Quebec, just an hour north of Montréal. Sadly it would go bankrupt years later and would be abandoned. There was a fire a few years ago and now it's gone .When The Police were recording Ghosts in the Machine they had to do a video for their song The do do do the da da da. So they went outside the studio and lypsinced (badly) the song and then went skiing because Morin Heights is a ski town in the winter.

Not so much a large drum set for back in the day. A lot of pros had them (Peart, Peter Criss, Gil Moore from Triumph, Roger Taylor, Carl Palmer, Terry Bozzio, hair bands...) and usually played the whole kit. A lot of us growing up back then built large kits, and our youth gave us the energy to haul those monsters around in the station wagon. At 56, I play a scaled down 9-piece kit.
