Great Canadian band that didn't the success that Rush had gotten , grew you listing to these guys amazing musicial harmony. Myles Goodwyn was a great song writer and producer who will be miss.
Big surprise , I confess that I don't know April Wine work in depth . I got to know him superficially in 1980 with the release of the album Monster of Rock led by Rainbow . Very Good !
@@glennandadriansrocktalk April Wine with the song "Just Between You and Me" along with The Who and Phil Collins were the only artists to have five airplays of the same song on the opening day of MTV. Another hit of theirs at the time "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" was played twice giving them seven airplays on MTV's opening day.
@@glennandadriansrocktalk Contrary to Roller, April Wine's rock ballads were second to none. TH-cam music reactors had finally cottoned on to April Wine and by the time Myles had died were ready to play Just Between You and Me. The tribute fit like a glove.
@@glennandadriansrocktalk Wikipedia listed something like 28 hits of April Wine. I knew about 22 of them and might have known more but I didn't recognize the title but might have heard the song.
I don't think I have read that comment more for any other artist. April Wine were relentless tourers (if that is a word). They played every arena across Canada multiple times and must have played every arena in the US. They were my first as well: Halifax Metro Centre (1980?) opened by Red Ryder (Tom Cochrane) whose hits at the time were Lunatic Fringe and White Hot. There is an incomplete April Wine Concert Date Archive webpage, sorry Wichita Falls wasn't on it but it gives a scope of their touring and the big names they were associated with.
@jethro1963 me and my friend al delago saw almost every band. First concert April wine 1973. Wichita falls. Tx 6 Texas jams Dallas cotton bowl. Two farm aids 1986 1987 Austin. And 58 concerts so far. Saw Ringo Starr Oklahoma 2033. Had to saw sir Paul Dallas 2002. Stay well and groovy my friend. Texas
@@terrygarcia897 As I said, the list was incomplete. For instance it also lists the bands they toured with and in my case it is missing Red Ryder. I'm also not sure exactly what year I saw them but they played across Canada so much I can't be sure. You can search "April Wine Concert Date Archive" and check it out.
As an older cdn, I can honestly say they were a bigger draw for me than journey, and seeing them with Rush, well.. One of the most prolific bands Canada ever produced also.
This band as so much power turn it way up 2024
My favourite April Wine song!

Great band ! They did a cool cover of King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man, too. R.I.P., Myles, Rock on !
Some of their covers were better than the original. They also did a good job with "Bad Side of the Moon"
Awesome from Canada me to , British Columbia
Silver Dollar & Before The Dawn are amazing tracks by April Wine and so many others.
I have a lot of favorites from April Wine. One is the Brian Greenway song “Before the Dawn” off of the I Like to Rock album.
Some of their early songs like this are still my favorite. “Weeping Widow” is another banger! “Rock and Roll Is a Viscous Game” is a beautiful song.
I'm taking notes on your suggestions - thanks!
