    Excellent video! Would a 212 fit better in this frame? I don't know how to weld so I can't modify the frame. What was/is the top speed? Also... how tall are you? Wondering if I could fit on this at 5'10"

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello IdahoEagle, No a 224 and 212 are about the same size. The only difference is the crank size. They do differ a bit with different blower covers and possibly exhaust and intake differences. How ever the block is the same size. I’m am 5’6 and well over 200lbs. I’ve had the 224 at 53mph. You can see it in one of the videos. I’ll be revisiting the 224 engine soon. Thanks for watching!!

    so i have a 2016 mm80 and im looking into getting a 224 for it. is it 100% that a 224 will fit in that frame? i want to order a 224 but dont want to have to relocate the tank. help

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello broombroom, yes it will go but it’s tight. You will need to bring some from the front oil drain plug and drill new mounting holes for the engine. The MM80 holes are different. As you saw in my video it is possible. By grinding the front oil drain bolt it will allow you to move the engine as far forward as possible. Hope this helps… Let me know how it turns out. You will definitely like the difference in power. Be safe!! Thanks for watching!!!

    I notice mine shakes a hell of a lot too, Id like to find a way to support it better. Could just be needing to go through its cycles. I only have an hour or two on mine.

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello Eric, Some people have found that the flywheel is not torqued properly and can be a cause of the vibrations. I feel though that it’s caused by the stroke this engine has. I welded 3ea 1”x1/8” flat bar under the engine plate to help stiffen the frame. It definitely helped tame the beast. I have a video showing how I did it. You should check it out. Thanks for watching!!

      Thanks yes I’m getting close. I will share what I find. Just wish I didn’t need to look. Not worried to much all the parts are replaceable. I believe I need to shim the crank at the side cover. There appears to excessive end play. That might tighten it up some.

      What did you find to be the problem with your 224 ? Thanks

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There really wasn’t anything that stood out as “That’s the problem”. I think the biggest issue was crank shaft end plan which I fixed with shims at the side cover. I didn’t measure it but install 1 thick one and 1 thin one and that seemed to get it close enough for me. I believe that the extra stroke on the crank shaft contributes to the vibration at mid range power. The vibration goes away as the rpm’s increase. I would love to get the whole rotating assembly balanced. There some diy videos out there and also some professional companies to do it but I’m fine with it.
      Great comment!! Thanks again for watching!!! 👍

      @ㅤY will be the same as a 212. Attach it right behind the tank. There are many videos about it. Do a search for Mech Master he has a really good video called “Throttle cable set up go kart, Predator Harbor Freight Engine”. This video will help you better then I could describe it.

    I know it an old video, but did you use your factory rear sprocket? What tooth count? I cant keep the front end down on mine

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No I had to change to a 54t rear sprocket. This will help keep the front down and give a better top speed.

      GoPowerSports
      You will most likely need a sprocket hub to go with the different sprocket. I use a split sprocket. Also I’m still using 35 chain.

    I wish I knew how to install this to my mini moto 80cc

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Zoidlife357, it’s really not hard. There are a couple options to install the engine. You can buy an angled plate from GPS or what I did with this bike is measure out the mounting holes and drill them. Either way is super easy just take your time. Most engine adapter’s for torque converters will help install an engine in the MM80 frame. Thanks for watching

      Sounds like a problem with the throttle cable not the carburetor. Disconnect the cable and try it again.
