- In this video, we're upgrading our Monster Moto 80cc Mini Bike with a Predator 212cc engine thanks to a good deal on Facebook Marketplace. The Predator 212cc engine is designed to provide more power, speed and torque, making our Monster Moto 80cc bike into a beast mode machine and the results are proof.
This engine upgrade is a big step up for our Monster Moto 80cc Mini Bike, and it makes us want to go fast even more now! We'll also be installing a new clutch and sprocket upgrade, making sure that our Monster Moto 80cc bike is able to run at top speed all the time! Next up on our mini bike build will be supporting mods to increase speed and add to safety.

Talk about waking up a mini-bike. Wow, this was a fun project and for the results, well they speak for themselves. Let us know your thoughts on other mods we should do it? Lights, horn, better braking, even more speed?
Thank you for this video. I too have a MM 80 w/ a 212cc on it. It was simply just meant to be. FUN!!!
HI Kassel. Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. That's awesome that you have one as well. We now have a group of us that do annual races around our property. Trophies and all. Such a fun way to act like a kid. Are you doing any other mods to yours?
Now that’s an upgrade!! This video reminds me of the summers back when my grandpa was alive! Nothing more fun than doing these type of projects with the old man. Have fun with it
Thanks for watching and sharing. Ahhh, I have those memories as well but more on a riding lawnmower or his old pickup truck. These are definitely some fun ones that you get to let the inner child out a little. 🙂
Boy that looks like fun. Zipping around the place like a little boy with a smile plastered on your face I'm sure. Cool project. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to see what you two do next.
Most certainly fun and a big 'ole grin each time. Thank you for watching and sharing!
Can just stack 3/4" washers to shim your clutch where it needs to be too. Cheaper and easier that way. Nice video!
Hi Drew. Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. Actually not a bad idea with the washers if you have some of that diameter. I didn't have any and the brass piece I bought was only $5 at the hardware store so I wen with that option. Washers at the store might have been cheaper. I guess I mentally jumped to a solid piece when it wasn't really needed. LOL.
I'm going to move foot peg tube to other side of frame on mine and most likely make a longer mounting plate so i can get motor as far forward as possible. Then make some plates to put behind axle for a couple More inches of wheelbase leaving old axle brackets in place so i can go back to stock location if i want. Mine will be pretty fast so longer is better! Nice clear video!
Thank you for watching and sharing. Sounds like a sick couple of projects there. I can certainly see how extending it will help with the speed. Wish mine had then when I tested it after some spring changes. It went right out from under me because it was so quick. Once the weather improves, we plan on doing an update video on what that change was and doing another speed test to see how much of the throttle we unlocked on it. Come back and let us know how your mods turned out and stay safe buddy!
Great job brother That looks like a blast to ride. Please wear a real helmet stay safe on her.
Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. We most certainly wear a helmet and gloves when we take this out to race with. It's a blast and we'll be making it even faster here soon. Stay tuned. Cheers!
Just put mine together watching this. Absolutely messed up on the holes in the frame but i made it work. Just need washers to keep that clutch from sparking.
Hi Vinny. Thanks for watching and sharing. That's awesome. Getting the holes right is a pain in the ass for sure, but I'm glad you have it worked out. I'm we could be a part of your journey for more fun! Cheers and a Happy New Year!
Don’t worry I also completely messed up on the holes for my engine.
@@MJT360 oh damn. Were you able to make it work still? It can certainly be tricky.
Nope, that's not sketchy AF at all. Lol
I want one.
LOL. That's a good one. These are so much fun once the power is added on. I rode it in the Dayton 4th parade and both kids and adults loved it. Thanks for watching. We appreciate you.
That looks fun! I need to pick one up one of these days, but for now I will play with my moped I just picked up.
A ton of fun and nerve wracking at times thanks to the tires but I can't say no to it. What kind of moped did you get? Thanks for watching and sharing!
Hell of an upgrade for sure! I've been looking at a couple of shifter cart projects myself...neighbors are gonna be pissed LOL!
ROFL. That's funny. Glad we don't have the neighbor problem but the one we do have may not be too happy when we have several of these at the house next month racing around the property. LOL. Shifter cars are so cool. You coming out of retirement to race? Thanks for watching!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Maybe I need a mini bike and we could do a collab video meetup where we each ride until we meet up and then drive a golden spike in the ground? Kind of a dumb and dumber theme only like adults...ish...🤣
@@YellowJacketGarage ROFL. That's hilarious...but I like it!
Thankyou for the parts list 👍
My pleasure. Thank you for watching. If you do the upgrade, come back and let us know how it went. Stay safe out there!
+10mph is a nice improvement. Good speed for the big kids as we’re like Tim Taylor (More Power!) haha and fitting shirt. For grinding down metal try a flap disc as they can take a lot of material off in a hurry.
Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate that. We agree, 10 more is a nice jump and plenty for this little bike. I feel like Tim at each new mod. 🤣. You're right on the flapper wheel. I have one that I use a lot on the C10 project. I was just lazy on replacing what was on the tool. 🤣🤣. Those flappers are amazing little boogers.
It must be nice living in wide open land like that! The city life sucks lol.
Hi Allyoucaneatmeat. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. Well, after living in the city for 4 years and living in a subdivision for 21 years, it was a goal of mine to find more privacy and that landed me here. Trade off is that it takes me 45 minutes to an hour to drive to work so it's not all sunshine and roses. It comes down to what matters the most. Cheers!
I remember breaking/making chains at like 12 or 13 years old with i think a screwdriver and a hammer and looking back i have no clue how i ever figured out how to do that stuff and this was pre youtube pre internet for me at least youd be surprised what you can do when your go kart breaks and if you want to ride you got to fix it.
Ahhh, the days of yanking off bike chains when I was young lad. LOL. Somehow they seemed so much easier then these on the mini bikes. I know these compared to my bike chain, is heavier and thicker to sustain the continued torque they have to endure. TH-cam is great for just about anything now adays. Take care and stay safe and thanks for watching and sharing!
Funny how they want to sell ya all those adapter plates when motor will go right on
Hi Jim. Thanks for watching and sharing. I didn't even know they made plates. I just figured if it fits, the rest is just a simple mod to get it to bolt down. LOL. Funny indeed. Stay safe out there!
can u pls send me some
Nice project i have a question was this over all an easy project because i have one and i want it to go faster
Hi Oculus. Thanks for watching. Great question. I'll answer by saying on the grand scheme of what we do at the shop, it's fairly easy. If you have the right tools & patience it's not that hard of a project. Hope that helps. Good luck with your bike and stay safe!
so i wanna do the same project to my monster moto but if i have the carb on on an muffler i was just wondering did you have to motify the engine to make it fit
HI Lowland. Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. It's a tight fit for sure but the only modification I had to make was to the mud flap in the rear. No modifications were made to the frame outside of the new holes being drilled. Hope that helps. Come back and let us know if you make the swap and how it went. Stay safe out there!
You should have went with a tourque converter instead of cluts
Edit: clutch not cluts and also good job that looks so fun I’m jealous I’m going to build a pit bike though
Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate. I just installed the Go Powersports Stage 1 Kit and although it was an increase of 3 MPH top speed, it still isn't tapped out so I'll be doing more to it. I'll look at the torque converter and compare. Good luck with your pit bike. These are an absolute blast and also dangerous. My son and wife's bruises from this past week losing control of it are clear signs.
@@SpiritedWrenchers thank you and I will be very safe my parents won’t let me not be safe so I’m definitely getting a helmet
hey, what size is the drill bit to make the holes in the frame?
Hi Jorge. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. I used a step-up bit so I could do one size at a time and not over drill it. Hope that helps.
Do you have to buy a new clutch, or can you use the old one?
@randybobandy2046 thanks for watching. I didn't replace the clutch and it's been outstanding. Even after doing a stage 1 upgrade kit.
@@SpiritedWrenchers thanks for the quick response! I want to swap out the 105cc on my oryx earth mini bike. The frames look identical to your bike. So this video is exactly what I needed. For now I plan to use the same rear sprocket and chain. They’re brand new, so I’m not going to upgrade or replace those yet.
Aside from some minor adjustments, essentially I should be able to get the Predator 212 and drop it right in without purchasing any other parts?
@randybobandy2046 I need quickly apologize that I wasn't thinking when I first replied. We did buy a new clutch(as shown in this video). I wanted all new parts and motor size difference was great enough that I didn't want to gamble on the stock clutch. I'm not even sure the original one would fit on the 212. I would recommend getting a new one if you can. The video walks through everything that we went with and links in the description. I'm not familiar with your bike so I'm unable to answer your question on whether everything will drop right in like it did with ours (after the modifications that were made).
@@SpiritedWrenchers thanks for the clarification. My bike has the same exact frame. Anyway, thanks again. Great video
what number chain did you use?
Hi Jorge. The links to all parts used are in the description of the video. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Can you inform me on the upgraded parts as far as the couch and chain size? I’m looking to get the 212 and was wondering what upgrade I’d need. Thank you in advance!
Hi Jesse. Thank you for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. Sounds like you're getting ready to embark on a journey of fun. LOL. I have the links to all the parts used in the description of the video. That should help on the project. Come back and let us know how it turns out. Have fun and stay safe!
i didnt understand the coller part for the clutch, why did you have to do tht
Hi Bostongeorge, thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. This was a personal choice due to the amount of play there would be without. I also think that I saw in one of the other many mini bike videos that I've watched where someone else had to do the same. Hope that helps.
theres a 212cc edition of the MM bike avaliable - ready assembled from the factory....costs double of the 105cc smaller bike...but you get more height to the frame and front shocks and ofc stronger 212cc motor. No need for swapping...i think il go for that one instead, thanks was originally set on smaller 80-105cc one but i think il have to splurge some more cash.../sigh =) Dont think id want to go through engine swapping...
Hi Ahah. Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. I wasn't aware of the new option for these but then again, I also enjoy finding a good deal on marketplace and saving money where I can too. LOL. Where is the 212 edition being sold at? I'd like to take a look for comparison. Stay safe out there on that fast bike you'll soon have. We have to do an update on ours as it's faster then when this video was made after a small spring change.
What's the sprocket size I want to update but I don't know the info I want to switch to 212cc
Hi Mo. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. All links to the products used are in the description box. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there.
How did you install the throttle cable? I just bought this engine for mine but can’t seem to get the throttle cable on the spring keeps getting stuck
Hi Destiny. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. Could you shoot us an email with a picture of how you have yours set up currently? We'll send you one back with how ours is routed. Email is in description.
Was it necessary to move to the 420 chain, or would #35 still be ok? I'm planning on using a 65T sprocket.
Hi DWR6. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. I went with the combo in this based on other builds that I watched and tuned into online and what Go Powersports had. I would contact them for some guidance just to be safe. Hope your build turns out great. Stay safe!
How much did the parts cost, not including the bike because I have one. And can you put the name of the parts as well, I want a project.
Hi Bsolo. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. All links to the items are in the description. That's the best way to get real-time pricing as well. Good luck with your bike. If you upgrade it, come back and let us know. We'll be doing a stage 1 and hydraulic brake upgrade, so stay tuned.
My 98cc engine on my mega moto 80 goes 35mph. It is just slower to get there.
Hi MountainEagle. Thanks for watching and sharing. That's great. Cheers!
Does anyone know if he removed the governor
Hi Ben. Thanks for watching. If you're referring to me (Art), the governor hasn't been removed yet. I likely won't remove it. We'll be doing a video on adding the Stage 1 kit to this bike soon. Based on how that goes, I might give that some consideration.
When i had a mini bike i would do around 53-55mph on a predator stage 1 .
Hey Mr. Bryan. Thanks for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. We actually have a stage 1 kit on the way. Looking forward to seeing what it does after. Stay tuned.
I trying to swap mine but having issues to line it up with chain and nothing to cut ✂️ drain nutt
Ah man, really sorry to hear that. Definitely need a grinder or metal cutter to take off the drain nut or they just won't fit. Hopefully when you have that cut off, you can line up the sprocket with the chain and clutch better. Thank you for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. Hope you can get the swap done so you can enjoy the bike even more. Stay safe out there!
I did this but I had after marked carb and exhaust so mine fit but it only has 2 motor mounts so not safe at all but it’s ok
HI Colinator. Thanks for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. Why did you only have 2 motor mounts? I'm planning on replacing the exhaust on this one at some point but it hasn't quite been a priority amongst all of our projects at this time. Stay safe out there!
Pin the governor back with a zip tie and it’ll gain another 10mph
Hi Zenith skull. Thanks for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. I had thought about removing the governor and still might at some point. We have a stage 1 kit going in soon so we'll see what happens then. Stay tuned.
Can anyone tell me what size bolts I should get to secure engine to bike frame?
I'll try my best to remember to get those sizes tomorrow for you. Thanks for watching.
You seen me struggling with this peice of shit. Lol had me laughing in my mind
Lol. Did you get it done? Thank you for watching and sharing!
How tall are you because I’m 6 foot an idk if I’ll fit
LOL. Yeah, 6ft would be pushing it on these bikes IMO. I'm 5' 6" and 160lbs. Any bigger and I would be very cautious on what terrain you drive on as I'm unsure how the frame will hold up. Truth be told, when I launch it on small jumps, I worry about the frame under my own weight. LOL. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
@ thanks
@@Gunnerg-c7o our pleasure!
Throw a torque converter on it 😅🤟
Lol. Thank you for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. To be honest, I haven't thought about it. Have been busy on other projects and planned to add a light and exhaust to it next. What would be the return for adding one to these?
Omg this has got to be the worst mini bike upgrade video
@@reempire888 lmao. Thanks for watching.
@@reempire888 lmao. Thanks for watching.
@SpiritedWrenchers haha I was kidding. Thanks for posting but it would be great if you show a more detailed on critical steps. Thanks again.
@@reempire888 My pleasure. What steps would you suggest more detail with? I'm always open to good feedback if it's helpful to the viewers. The video was created because a better one for this bike didn't really exist to this extent with these parts, so if there is a way to make it better next time, I'm all ears.
