      when chains stretch they are fucked. and need to be swapped to a new one. unlike belts. chains are quite good yet to be deemed reliable. that's why newer cars often use belts because they don't really stretch like chains do.

    • @kleinfeicht

      YEA ... and you can easily avoid Chain strechting with more than just one chain ... problem is that chains make it louder ^^

      @@pogpogcasino 14 years later and people still dont understand a VR(6,8,12,16) engine.
      Take a 90* v8 and bring the banks so close they're only a 15* v8 and all the cylinders are staggered into a single bank and share a common cylinder head. That makes a VR8 or "Vee Reihenmotor 8" or V-straight 8, because germans.
      Sit 2 of those at a 90* v angle on a common crankshaft and you end up with a W16, Though the more accurate name would be VV16 for vee vee 16 (or VVR16) but most people just call it a W.
      In the german language a W is also a long V anyway so "Werksleitung" is more like "VVerksleitung". So even if they say "W16" they're effectively saying "veh sechzehn", Which is pretty much "vee sixteen".

      @@BastuGubbar I would say it's still a V engine just with two rows of pistons on each side. W I would say is a grossly inaccurate description of this engine. It's not even remotely close to resembling a W. I honestly think they kept the letter W because the concept engine before the "W16" was an actual W shaped engine called the W18. It was made by combining three straight 6 engines in a W formation. But, it was never used in production because it was too big, too heavy, too expensive, non-turbo, and only made something between 500-600hp.

    • @gratefuldean69
      @gratefuldean69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pendragon501 you could call it a VR16 Like VWs VR6 motor except VR essentially means Inline/Vee motor, but is shaped like an inline with one cylinder head. The engine has a crossover valve design. The inlet valves of each cylinder are operated by one camshaft
      and the exhaust valves of each cylinder are operated by the other camshaft. The crossover valve design
      provides twin-cam operation for each cylinder.
