The Valkyrie costs $450,000 (£355,000) over three years to maintain, according to report by Bloomberg. Hence lots of cancelled orders. What are the service costs over three years for this monster? Before you say Bugatti owners don’t care they are the same customers who ordered the Valk.
The increase in value of these vehicles far exceeds this figure. And according to a statement of 2015 from former Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer, the average [Veyron] owner has a total of 84 cars, three private jets, and a yacht. I think, if they want a car like that they don't care about $150,000 a year at all. A one week trip with the yacht most likely costs more. 😅
That really did sound akin to a neutered f1 engine! I knew a billionaire here in ATL who got the first 1 allocated to the U.S. He bought it to a show we had and revved the piss out of it in the garage&I thought yup that's what f1 used to kinda sound like. 👍🏻😁
I would have been impressed if I didnt know they had a V12 which makes the same power: 'The Valkyrie contains a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine tailored by Cosworth, which produces around 746 kW (1,000 hp) at 10,500 rpm, with a redline of 11,100 rpm. This will make it the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever to be fitted to a production road car.'
A standard Bugatti would never do something like go to 11000RPM. It's the antithesis of their design philosophy. It should feel effortless and relatively undramatic to find the limits of the car. No doubt there will later be a Tourbillon SuperSport or something along those lines which will take this engine and go completely off the wall with it.

Last Time I was this early Top Gear was on TV every Sunday Night!!! 👍😎
Is your boyfriend impressed? Nobody else cares.
@@xploration1437 🙄
I have always been intrigued by V12 Engines. Their Sound is amazing.
I also am enamoured with Renault and Honda V10 Engines.
Then, came this Bugatti V16 Engine and am VERY impressed with the engineering by Cosworth
This Rngine may well be the last of its type to be produced.
V12 is perfectly balanced 👍
I am building my dream supercar with a V12 💪
The Valkyrie costs $450,000 (£355,000) over three years to maintain, according to report by Bloomberg. Hence lots of cancelled orders. What are the service costs over three years for this monster? Before you say Bugatti owners don’t care they are the same customers who ordered the Valk.
About 0.1% of the cost of their super yacht....
My Valkyrie costs $0 to maintain. Because I dont have one.
I also cancelled my bugatti order cause V16 sounds like shit.
Some years ago, I read something around 50k/year for a Chiron. Probably without parts/tires etc.
We can't tell the tone of v16 it's a mix of crossplane v8 and v12
RB17 also confirmed using cosworth.
Could listen to Bruce Wood for hours. Fantastic passion and outlook on the whole thing.
Can view "Cosworth" from my home, been in the engine room behind main reception, got some old lovely stuff..
That engine sounds like demons in those horror movies.
I was thinking about the "unique" engine requirement but my mind went from V16 to build a new rotary engine. Imagine the NOISE!!!
They wanted something reliable, timeless, and old-school - and a rotary won't fit the bill
rotary bugatti, rofl
Alright boys we be using the new engine and shove it in the Toyota civic, les rob the bloody bank mates
Count me in too, Imma use it for my mid-engined Peugeot 107 project! 😜😂🤣
engine alone would be longer than the Civic is wide lmao
Hearing the overlapping tones blend in so perfectly with each other makes me ears quiver
Nice to see the mighty RS500 Sierra Cosworth pic on the wall behind him at 6:50
Lfa still best imo
V10. LFA.
that's what I'm thinking about. bro. a master piece of engineering.
That really did sound akin to a neutered f1 engine! I knew a billionaire here in ATL who got the first 1 allocated to the U.S.
He bought it to a show we had and revved the piss out of it in the garage&I thought yup that's what f1 used to kinda sound like. 👍🏻😁
When gordon murry met the cosworth md and see that shirt he said yes you will build our engines. 😂
i was thinking about his and Murray's taste in shirts when watching too 😆
You win! Haha!
V12 matra is still pinnacle of engine sound!!
nah V10
Best thing I’ve heard since the BRM V16. Absolute favourite.
I would have been impressed if I didnt know they had a V12 which makes the same power:
'The Valkyrie contains a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine tailored by Cosworth, which produces around 746 kW (1,000 hp) at 10,500 rpm, with a redline of 11,100 rpm. This will make it the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever to be fitted to a production road car.'
We are talking about Bugatti. This is a first NA V16 engine in 21st century made from scratch. Key reasons are uniqueness and reliability.
A standard Bugatti would never do something like go to 11000RPM. It's the antithesis of their design philosophy. It should feel effortless and relatively undramatic to find the limits of the car.
No doubt there will later be a Tourbillon SuperSport or something along those lines which will take this engine and go completely off the wall with it.
how about torque?
More revs, less reliability.
@@Tippotipo The engine is made by Cosworth, not by Bugatti. The fact is that this V16 makes the same power as their V12.
And how do you know if its reliable ? The car has not even been released yet.
Cosworth are the best lads
Cosworth CEO “it’s about having an experience that money can’t buy” - Bugatti…”that’ll be $3 million euros please” 😂
I also found that contradictory, to say the least
Even if you offered twice that, they probably wouldn’t sell you one as you have to apply before beeing allowed to buy these kind of cars
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 V8 x2 🔊
THE W16 ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE TWO V8s harmonising. 👌
That enginesound gives me instant goosebumps. Marvelous piece of engineering!
That's cool and all but can it fit in a miata?
yes it will but you might need to modify the firewall and cut a small slit in the hood. Or even better, but it in the trunk!
of course it will...
@@petergrillo69 just put it in the passenger seat, dont forget the seatbelt though
Did you not catch once it's bolted up to the trans total length is 79" 😅
@@hertzwave8001 passenger seat mounting will also work, but you need the optional sidemounted gearbox. A good thing is that you will save some weight on the ultra short shifter 🤣
What makes Ferrari truly special its that they create their own engine, and their engines are among the best in the world especially their v12 engines.
Definitely but Ferrari didn't create any new V12 engines ever since the Enzo was unveiled. They just update and modernise it to match and even beat newer V12 engines.
Didn't know it was a cosworth engine 🤔
Would really be interesting to know if they just got approached for prototype building and dyno testing or if they actually designed the thing. Back in the Piëch days VW wouldn't have outsourced the engineering, but times are changing... VW can't even get their car software to work properly...
@@Paganizondaf650 rimac bought the bugatti name from vw
@@ItsCriti rimac entered a joint venture. (Bugatti rimac group) 55% rimac ownership, 45% porsche ag ownership. And porsche ag owns 24% of rimac. Engine building is still done by volkswagen in Germany. Rimac isn't touching that
I could listen to Bruce Wood all day, his voice and wealth of knowledge. Such an eloquent speaker
My favourite engine sound of all time is the BRM V16. This has notes of that
Ngl, not a massive fan of the way it sounds. But I'm so happy it exists marvel of engineering
While Pagani made the awful sounding M120 sound like an angel, Cosworth made a v16 that revs to 9000rpm sound like a Cummings I6 at 4k rpm
What, powerful engines don't need crackle and bangs?
I'll have to tell my neighbour that...🤣
I love Cosworth.
From the moment as a kid when I first saw a mettalic blue Escort Cosworth - the greatest car I had seen up to that point in my life - to now and these epic engines they are delivering right now.
What a great video for capturing the essence of what makes high performance internal combustion engines so very, very special. Well done Cosworth and well done Top Gear.
Unpopular opinion: I prefer the sound of the W16
Another unpopular opinion: I prefer the sound of the 2.0l v4 of the Porsche 919 Hybrid...🔥
Why? Sounds like crap though
@@larryc1616 I don't know man, it just sounds more aggressive
True I also love the deep growl from the W16 on startup and at no rpm they sound great and like no other, and without deafening all nearby.
@@user-jq5tj7kq8w exactly bro
Finally! I've been really excited to hear this new engine.
This is what all hypercars are about: the driver's experience. The looks, the feel, the smells and of course the noises. This is the reason why f.e. Mr. Hennesey like to keep it raw, to give the owner a connection to the road, a lost car feel in today's modern disconnected people haulers that all look the same. It's all about passion. 😎🤘
People have no idea how many different great engines Cosworth have been involved with. I also love they have them sat between a YB Redtop and that Bugatti lump .
GMA, Valkyrie, this engine. I really hope more companies decide to work with Cosworth if they keep sounding so epic
Cosworth is in its prime right now, what an amazing time to be alive. So many amazing cars to choose from.
