Something interesting to look at here. There are outliers in each game, but in general, Battlefield 3 features far less camera animation. In Betolfeeld 3, the animators tended to only use camera movements in periods of intensity, such as slapping in a magazine or giving the charging handle a pull. Even then, the motions are small. Some would argue the lack of movement makes the animations feel robotic, but it also makes them significantly more readable at a glance than in BF3 Portal. I'd argue this is also slightly more realistic as your brain would generally filter out the small movements and reactions your body makes to reloading. Portal is animated by modern animators, which means it makes significant use of camera movement to intensify its animations. The problem with this modern styling, is if the camera animations aren't executed well in conjunction with the weapon animations, the actual operation of the gun becomes harder to see in all of the point of view shifting. It can variably be like trying to watch something on a swaying ship, or trying to hold something steady while hopped up on stimulants. People tend to forget that less clean textures and lighting can still make amazing results... Same with the guns. @@SerbonOfficial I'm saying that A game that came out 2 years ago with barely 2-1 years of prep time managed to beat a recently released game which I'm not gonna lie, is Embarrassing
@@u.nforcesalx9892 I’m pretty sure MW2019 got 3 years of development. But yeah, this game is an utter disappointment, and I’ve got no clue why DICE didn’t delay the game.
Here's my take: BF2042's animations are still good. Whether or not they're a downgrade is undecided to me, because if they were truly a downgrade, they would be on the levels of BF2, which, while still great for their time, have not aged well in comparison. BF2042's animations do feel snappy and most certainly feel life-like. BF3 in comparison just has something a little off. Don't get me wrong, I love them just as much as any other guy whose first Battlefield title was BF3 (i.e. I fuckin' love them), but the hand slaps to the quick-bolt release on the ARs and the mag insertion on some guns doesn't feel right. Maybe I'm spoiled by newer games, such as MW2019. In fact, I most definitely am. But BF3's animations feel kinda robotic in comparison to BF2042, in the sense that there's no finer details by comparison. The camera shakes, to emphasise movement, feel delayed and even visual recoil doesn't look as impactful in BF3. To counter this, however, BF3's anims still have a flair, in some cases. For instance, the AN-94 and the mag ejection. It's just cool. Forgoing function for form. And you do see this in BF2042, yes. But, the big thing that the newest game has problems with is this: Expectations. Yeah, I know. "Big fucking surprise there." The game that was hyped to be a return to the franchise's heyday, circa BF:BC2 and BF3, and subsequently false-cummed and went limp. But, think of it this way: BF5's animations were a decent step up from BF1. And BF1's animations were practically a turning point for the series. They were to be the animations all future titles' animations were compared to, to see if they stood up in terms of quality. And like I said, BF5 was a decent upgrade. Whereas for BF2042... even I, someone who has yet to play BF2042 (but has played both BF1 and BF5), thinks that there wasn't enough of an upgrade between the latest two titles to satisfy my delight for punchy, action-filled reload animations. And going back to BF3 real quick, comparing BF3's animations to previous games, such as BF:BC2 and BF2 (hell, even BF1943 if you want), you *did* see marked improvements. There was more detail, they felt more active than BC2. Not that BC2 was bad at all, it was just that BF3 was a product of further experience, so much as to say that BF3 animations were made possible by the experience they had gained from the previous titles. Is this exclusive to BF3? No, the same went for BF4, BF1 and BF5. But the point is that BF3's animations showed effort and development, where development was possible. Whereas with BF2042... well, I feel like they're reaching a sort of "critical mass", I feel. As in, there's only so much a human can do to make an animation feel fun and exciting to simply watch, within a realistic setting. Any further, and you'll end up applying strange, almost cartoonish logic to the animations that start to become disjointed with the atmosphere of the game. And yes, I wanna see something creative done with these kind of weapons, but I'm fairly certain the animators and asset designers were simply not allowed to, whether that be because of design goals or pressure from higher-ups or a mix of both As for the sounds, however, I will concede to the vocal populace in this comments section and say that BF2042's sounds are lacking. They are bassy, yes, which is what I gather all gunfire sounds like when wearing protective ear equipment (like in Escape from Tarkov, for instance). But, I prefer gunfire to sound... ear-piercing? Is that the right word? Basically, if a gun firing for a prolonged period doesn't leave your ears ringing a tiny bit, then that's not a proper sounding gun, in my opinion. Which is why I love mil-sim games, where the gunfire from even an SMG is close to deafening. I end up turning the sound down, since my hearing is already sensitive as it is and I'm a coward, but I love it. And BF3 has that kind of quality. I feel like, with the right volume level and enough gunfire, BF3 would leave my ears ringing a little. BF2042, meanwhile... I dunno, I feel like there's too much bass to sound impactful. And I don't think that's what is needed for an AR or an MMG. Autocannons, artillery, missiles and explosions? Yes! Blow out my fucking eardrums with bass, please! But automatic rifles? No, I prefer a "higher pitch" to them, for want of a better phrase. So, to sum up: BF3 and BF2042 have both good and bad points with their animation designs. BF3 showed more effort whereas BF2042 promised too much (again). BF2042 is still good, whereas nostalgia has blinded us to the retrospective flaws in BF3's animations. And in terms of sound, BF3's guns sound loud and gritty, whereas BF2042's guns sound too bassy for mere small arms. Also this is my opinion, feel free to agree and disagree with whichever part you like. It's a free country, after all. I'm not forcing you to take sides with me here. :P

Whats so annoying about the animation for the 2042 version of the ACR is that the charging handle reciprocates. It does not do that in real life and they got it right back in battlefield 3. So they wasted time animating a reciprocating charging handle when they did not need to.
It’s impressive how ass the weapon models (they all lack any level of detail or realistic feel, the black metallic/plastic in 3 is much cleaner) look in 2042 but the sounds are god awful too, it’s like every gun has the same sound just pitched differently
so i was curious if he BF2042 animations would look better (at least the full reload ones) if they were slower, by 25% (basically putting the playback speed to 0.75) it actually makes most of them look good, mostly on weapons where the animation feels way to fast or faster then the Tac-reload, i also noticed that the BF2042 animations have stutters to them like they were trying to make the weapons feel weighted but then sped up the animations every so slightly and now they have a stutter to them. (if any of that makes any sense to anyone other then myself)

Imo the only guns that BF2042 wins in animation-wise are the SPAS, the A-91, and the P90
HK416 empty reload in BF2042 could be better if there wasn’t that awkward gap in the middle
M39 EMR empty reload in 2042 reminds me of the M14 and M21 EBR reloads in MW2 and BO1
DAO-12 is also pretty good
the bolt on the m39 doesn't even move
@@snakeeyes941 ye I was just pointing out it looks like a cod reload
I agree with the two opinions but NOT the last one.
nothing good about the SPAS-12 animation. they still got it wrong like 99% of other video games
i love how the mp412 ex in bf3 doesnt show the bullets you fired and those who haven't when you reload, but in 2042 portal, they...still don't show, they could've added that like in bf1 and 5 but just didn't for some reason
Well Bf3 already won because bf3's Animations are finished unlike Battlefield 2042's
I can watch this without sound and still hear the correct gun sounds in my head..
Portal's reload animations are more intense like DICE tried to mimic COD modern warfare
Wow when you aim the RPG and fire the rocket it doesnt even leave the launcher wtf 16:20
bf3 has that distressed and sharpness look to it. even the sound is beautiful.
DICE questioning their life rn
Why Battlefield series doesn't have fire selector animations?
BF2: Let me introduce myself
Bro it took me a second to realize you were talking about battlefield portal so I thought Valve portal had guns
But where is the mighty m4? Why they didn't remake all weapons? This is a huge rubbery!
Bruh, 2042 animations are so jacked. I just noticed that the empty reload for the M14 doesn’t even rack the bolt.
Reloads in 2042, wtf is he doing with his left hand after the reload? He moves it offscreen instead of going straight to the gun.
People tend to forget that less clean textures and lighting can still make amazing results... The kind of people who buy games just because they saw cool lighting and hyper detailed textures will see a couple of smudged textures and a few sharp edges and get all offended like "tHiS iS sO bAd, HoW cAn YoU mAkE sOmEtHiNg So BaD wItH tOdAyS tEcHnOlOgy"
Like, bruh... It's about how carefully you put everything together, and how much effort you're willing to put into it. I don't care if I'm going to see semi 2D grass and bushes, or see a few pixels in the said bushes, if they're going to be placed into the world well and look amazing while you're actually playing.
Same with the guns. Sure, i also like when my chrome lined deagle looks like i could eat from it, but if it sounds like a sandal being hit against concrete and the game I'm using it in looks like the first attempt at an AI generating a map, i don't care one bit about the prettiness.
It's all about new, new, new, and people don't realise they could expand on like, 2011 graphics and make them look incredible.
Does anyone notice the RPG?
why is 2042 trying so hard to be like MW2019. it used to be cod trying to copy BF but i guess things have changed for the worse
The fact that the animations and sound are beatable even by COD MW2019 is hillarious
You’re acting as if MW2019 has bad sounds and animations? It probably has some of the best in gaming history.
@@SerbonOfficial I'm saying that A game that came out 2 years ago with barely 2-1 years of prep time managed to beat a recently released game which I'm not gonna lie, is Embarrassing
@@u.nforcesalx9892 I mean a lot of older games beat 2042 ngl
@@u.nforcesalx9892 I’m pretty sure MW2019 got 3 years of development. But yeah, this game is an utter disappointment, and I’ve got no clue why DICE didn’t delay the game.
1 guy who animates the portal guns, what do you expect? mw19 level anims?
Battlefield 3 has its own charm ❤️
4:11 Literally what the fuck
Look how they massacred my boy..
Here's my take:
BF2042's animations are still good.
And yes, I wanna see something creative done with these kind of weapons, but I'm fairly certain the animators and asset designers were simply not allowed to, whether that be because of design goals or pressure from higher-ups or a mix of both
As for the sounds, however, I will concede to the vocal populace in this comments section and say that BF2042's sounds are lacking.
@William Taylor who knows
but I agree with this comment
@William Taylor when inspiration strikes, time becomes nebulous
I like both. One is somewhat 'authetic' while another is 'snappy' MW19 style
8:36 OH GOD
In a few years the guns will sound like would you always shoot with a silencer because now honestly where is the bang you want to hear from a gun?

Can’t believe I have to say this “the old one is more better”
Everything about the gun to the friggin iconic view models are perfect in bf3
2042 just isn’t trying anymore, It looks like a nexus Fallout 4 mod
I swear sniping in bf 3 was soooo satisfying
Whereas in bf 2042 it's kinda blank
What is this?! 9:56
I don't remember the Portal games having this many weapons
That sound, love that
bf 3s animations and gunplay are smooth as hell, battlefield 2042s look like a damn robot
BF3: Masterpiece
Anthem 2.042: When gun reload is louder than gun fire.
DICE head at Zoom meeting: Guys, learn from COD devs, they recycled animation from previous titles like MW2019 to save time
DICE animators: K.
*Proceed to do exactly what was being told, which was recycling animation from MW2019*
DICE head after playing the game at the beta: AYO WTF? I THOUGHT I TOLD U GUYS TO REUSE BF3 & BC2 ASSETS?
It wasn't DICE, it was another industry
sorry but why tf does the m93r look like the 10mm handgun from fallout 4?
Suggestion: bf2042 vs moh warfighter
Of course the animation is better in Original because it's less wobly and more natural
And less call of duty style reload
it's not really natural either in BF3, it just looks less janky when there's no extra movement
This comparison is like comparing a broken bike with a Lamborghini
Coming from a year in the future to say that Portal guns have improved in animation and style.
why is the hand so blocky in bf2042
in BF Portal, reloading shakes the camera too much while weapon recoil is uhhhhhh, what's the proper word for that?
I'm convinced the original Battlefield devs didn't make 2042. It just doesn't feel possible for this game to exist knowing the original BF's dev's passion.
Whats so annoying about the animation for the 2042 version of the ACR is that the charging handle reciprocates. It does not do that in real life and they got it right back in battlefield 3. So they wasted time animating a reciprocating charging handle when they did not need to.
Bf3: reloads casually
Bf2042: DRAMATIC RELOADING INTENSIFIES
It’s impressive how ass the weapon models (they all lack any level of detail or realistic feel, the black metallic/plastic in 3 is much cleaner) look in 2042 but the sounds are god awful too, it’s like every gun has the same sound just pitched differently
BF3 Loks so much smother and more details
Im exhausted and bored of the double mag reload being put on every single weapon. We get it. MW2019 was a hit, but that doesnt mean do what they did.
The sexyest: AN-94 two rounds burst in Portal.
so i was curious if he BF2042 animations would look better (at least the full reload ones) if they were slower, by 25% (basically putting the playback speed to 0.75) it actually makes most of them look good, mostly on weapons where the animation feels way to fast or faster then the Tac-reload, i also noticed that the BF2042 animations have stutters to them like they were trying to make the weapons feel weighted but then sped up the animations every so slightly and now they have a stutter to them. (if any of that makes any sense to anyone other then myself)
We had no idea how good we had it...
A love letter to fans says DICE, what a joke
Графика, конечно, на стороне Portal, но исполнение как-то лучше у оригинальной BF3
