To be honest I don’t even know why I didn’t put it in S Tier, other than the fact that it just feels so normal. I literally was glazing it for the whole MP 18 section.
@@professormemsclass You forgot the biggest reason why I think it belongs in S tier; it has a bayonet option, when 2 of the S tiers can't even mount bayonets. They're so insanely useful for killing pursuing enemies around corners, taking down elites, crossing gaps / fleeing the enemy in an emergency, and all in all sounding like a fucking maniac as you stab someone to death
As a support main, I used to love the SMG-08 before they buffed it's fire rate. It's old chugging rate of fire was great to use as a suppressive weapon
The old fire rate legitimately made it my favorite SMG after the MP 18, it was beautiful. Then it got ruined when the fire rate was massively increased. I went back to the ever so reliable 18 immediately after.
MP18: - Incredibly well rounded - Great for both new and old players - The most historically accurate SMG (it actually saw combat multiple times in 1918) Thus, in my opinion the MP18 is the best assault weapon

To this day, I hate what they did to the SMG 08/18, it used to be one of those slow firing but accurate weapons for mid ranges, now it's just another bullet hose.
Well, the fact that dice made the Hellriegel in game pretty accurately ( with the exception of the snail mag) for an SMG where only TWO photos signifying it even ever existed, still exists.
I wish the Browning Auto 5 was more powerful, because it's such a cool firearm. Hell, having an auto loading shotgun in the early 1900s is seriously impressive. John Browning really was one of the best gun designers in that era.
One thing I think is surprising you didn’t mention with the Ribeyrolles is that the factory version is WAY more stable than the Optical and doesn’t not suffer from nearly as much visual recoil. I think you might wanna take a closer look at the Factory variant, I think it outperforms the optical even at range. Just set the iron sights to like 1.5 or 2x
Hmm the thing is according to the website I used for stats, the recoil is technically no different, but as I said, the sights bounce a lot more than they actually recoil, and I wouldn’t be surprised if for some reason that wasn’t as big of an issue in the factory variant. You may be right that it needs a closer look.

I remember when I was trying to complete that assignment, I was damaging a boat with AT rockets, and I was only one rocket away, but when I went to lay down for the last shot, I was in a weird position on the shoreline, like I couldn’t go prone but I couldn’t back up either. Something else ended up stealing the kill. It was frustrating, but we made it eventually.
@@MrBusch90 That’s a wild take for the M1917 Carbine, but I think it might be pretty true for the tanker/support C96 Carbine. It has tons more recoil, less damage, and loads via clips in a smaller magazine. It’s really incredible how the pistol carbines available to support are the worst class of primaries kind of objectively. They are basically sidearms with slightly improved stats.
I actually found M1912 experimental more rewarding to use, since it's a 4-shot kill up close with 1200rpm! I think the challenge is positioning and timing for its low tolerance for missing shots.
True, I've seen a lot of love for it, and I've wondered if I've been too harsh, but the ridiculous recoil and 2 round burst were a bit too weird for me.
As someone who set out to gain at least one service star with each weapon (except the Peacekeeper, just looking at the guide is a pain), and has already got one with each assault primaries, I must say I fully agree with this tier list, tho I would have put the MP-18 into S tier, simply because I really like using it. Sure there are faster ttk guns along with higher capacity ones, but the MP-18 always has my back. Plus it feels the most real, since it was used in large(ish) quantities irl, and running around with it and the P08 on Amiens or Passchendale as the germans never gets old. Looking forward to the Medic primaries Tier list!
Yeah, I replied to another comment here basically saying I don’t know why I didn’t put the MP 18 into S Tier, especially because I didn’t have anything bad to say about it, and the only thing I possibly COULD say is that it’s kind of basic. The development was too far along by the time I made this realization, and the list isn’t super serious anyway, but realistically the MP 18 is an S Tier gun.

I love your battlefield videos so much. Bf1 is my favorite game in the franchise, and my favorite MP shooter in general. Each class was fun to play, with different weapons archetypes to make a few different play styles viable within each class. I always found myself running the MP12-18 experimental, even though it's not exactly great, just because of the fun reload animations. The 1900 shotgun was also pretty fun. Assault is my least played class in the game, but that's only because I adored several weapons in each of the other classes. Thanks for the video!
Hearing the thoughts of someone with BFV brain call the BF1 shotguns weaker is really, really weird. Within BF1's weapon balance and maps, they fuck really hard. BFV's weapon and map balance make those more "powerful" shotguns way, way harder to use.
I play both and I agree. BFV Shotguns are much more powerful but the flow of that game makes it hard to find right moments for them to be good at. While BF1's shotguns, though weaker, are much more satisfying and less frustrating to use than those in BFV.
@@stepanokhrimenko9189 Numbers mean literally nothing without context. There's a reason why shotguns dominate BF1, and why they are rarely used in BF5. Also the whole bit about the experimental 2 burst pistol was really odd to hear. That's one of the best guns in the game, if you know BF1's maps and flow. He doesn't, and it colors his opinions accordingly.
@@stepanokhrimenko9189 They are stronger at hugging distance. The base BF5 shotguns are strictly worse outside 10 meters and even with the mods are still a cut below the 10A hunter. Hitting your enemy with 200 dmg or 101dmg is in effect the same.

The ribby factory is much better than the optical imo, recoil is less bumpy letting you appreciate the near lack of horizontal recoil. Short bursts counter the vertical recoil and the bipod makes it a pleasure to use. Also the bolt opening animation is amazing compared to bfv’s more anonymous one. I also miss the old SMG08/18, it was very bad but had more charm as a mini LMG than the love child of the Hellriegel and MAB18. I also miss the old 1200rpm on the auto MP12/p16. Overall I think the kits of bf1, maybe with the exception of scout, offer so much variety of playstyles with really few unfun guns.
Nice to see someone finally appreciate the M1917 Carbine. People don't realize that a few highly accurate shots can go way farther than raw fire rate. With the right practice it becomes a head's worst nightmare. Someone can be laying down a wall of bullets and miss half and all you have to do is land just a couple well placed headshots. Also in CQC maps you can round corners and absolutely trigger-finger the thing and with very little recoil you can still be accurate without even aiming.
I absolute love your weapon tier lists because they are unique Other youtubers just measure it around stats and that´s it, I love that you actually put like aesthetics and even morals over it I hope you never change this Edit: If you ever rank the vehicles of Bf 1, PLEASE put the Attack Plane with the Tank Hunter variant (the one with 37mm) at the bottom. It absolute destroys balance. One can argue that it is hard to aim put just a couple of rounds in it and you get the hand of it, hell, I´m not that good with planes but managed to dominate a server after equipping it and getting the hand of it. Not to mention that overshadows the Barrage Bomber (which is a beauty) since it can destroy any tank in a single run if you´re good or at least in 2 runs, and it even overshadows the fighters since it has a 2/3 shot potential on all planes. And if you have a decent gunner on you, there´s no way you can get shot down unless the other pilot is also using a Attack Plane with the Tank Hunter variant.
Aww heck yeah! I'm so glad DICE dug up all the whacky SMG prototypes for this game. And thanks for validating my enthusiasm for the RSC SMG, my beloved. Little story: When I first got into BF1, I was pigeon-holed into the smallest population, Xbox on Oceania, and sometime in 2020, DICE cut off all of the official servers. If I wanted to play, I either had to risk massive ping in NA/SA/EU servers, or play on the only Xbox Oceania server: A hardcore competitive community run server with 2x damage. It was a pretty frustrating experience as it was competitive, with seasonal cash prizes, so everyone would run around one-shotting each other with double damage sniper rifles, slug-shotguns, M1911s, revolvers and the weapon I now loathe most in the entire game, the RSC 1917. However, just playing for fun and going against the grain, the RSC SMG became my most used primary weapon as it just felt so good, deliberate to use and, ironically, uniquely balanced by the double damage. At close range, it'd be able to 2-tap, or even one-shot headshot enemies, whilst still retaining decent close-medium range performance. It really felt like a sawn-off SMG pounding some poor shmuck with full-power 8mm Lebel rounds, however, it was balanced out by that 4 second long reload and 8+1 capacity. It was a really effective tool for destroying 2-3 guys with a lengthy break in-between or, as you said, "doing and assload of damage in a short time with deliberate resets in aggression" and, after coming back to on PC, I really miss the 2x damage RSC SMG. The Auto-5 is uniquely balanced on 2x servers too btw. While the other shottys can paste a poor soul just by sneezing in their general direction, the Auto-5 could still hardly kill an enemy in one shot whilst still not having much reach beyond. But it still could and did so in hair-tiggered semi-auto. And it made a fun experience knowing that if you played your cards right, you could rush down an objective and string together 5-7 well placed shots to rid the better part of two squads. The Auto-BFV is the superior weapon (atleast gameplay wise,), but I wish the BF1 had the balancing to just barely kill with a single shot in vanilla. Regardless, thanks again for the awesome upload and I look forward to the rest of the arsenal's rankings!
The original version of the smg 08 was actually such an interesting weapon. A true pocket lmg suppression tube that got turned into the helreigel but better. I miss it.
FINALLY A FELLOW RSC SMG ENJOYER!!! I randomly stumbled on this gun in game and became obsessed with its design and incredibly flashy reload animation. After practically forcing myself to use it for awhile I learned it’s pros and cons and how to make the most of them, to the point that I actually got good with the weapon. I agree with every word of your presentation on the gun in this video. When I whip this out for a game everyone looks at me like I’ve grown a second head, and I couldn’t be more proud!
Only the truly most based can realise that the Maschinenpistole M1912 Experimental is superior in every single way, almost identical ttk to storm, while also having much better ammo economy, accuracy, control, still has pre nerf fire rate...
Love this series dude! Watching it reminded me of launch times… at launch the model 10 hunter could one shot at ridiculous range, iirc 40-50 meters, shit was broke. The hellregal was insanely op at launch, even after the first couple nerfs, til finally it was just ok. Both were ultra sweat verified weapons lol
Honestly, the shotguns seem really balanced. A lot of them are high risk, high reward, with consistent damage that require you to force close range engagements in order to get the one shot. The slug shotguns in this game are amazing because they are actually viable at long range engagements without making semi auto rifles obsolete.
I never was able to get any dlc for this game as a teen, my go to was almost exclusively the helriegal and I’d occasionally pick of others dlc guns and wish for more
Love to see that somebody else likes the underdog weapons. People used to despise the Model 10 because of how ridiculous it was, especially in the beta. I never really messed around with it too much myself because I only wanted to use guns that I owned, leading me to the M97. Nowadays I'm a 1900 man though.
Ngl the machinenpistole experimental variant is one of the most fun weapons and became my go-to with 80 service stars lmao. Once you get used to the burst, and switching to single shot, you can take people out at longer ranges. It's a fun challenge and like you said, feels cool knowing nobody uses it. Very unique weapon.

I still find it very strange how DICE basically completely reworked the 08/18, like it’s not even close the original weapon. I would’ve appreciated if they made the OG version a “suppressive” variant or something
Although the 12g automatic is quirky and doesn’t fit the mold of the other shotguns, I personally find the extended version good for spamming into crowds or melting down SMG08 users. If it’s one guy with an SMG08, it’s as easy as emptying the entire tube magazine into the poor guy until he’s dead before he gets a bead on you and spray you down. It’s about good crosshair placement and willingness to magdump If it’s groups of people you can empty the entire magazine to do as much damage as possible before needing to retreat or finish the job with explosives. For that it’s a favorite of mine on maps like Fort De Vaux, Amiens, Verdun Heights, Argonne as it gives a fighting chance against the SMG08 users and people who like to group up, I find if you can get over the mental block of expecting a one shot kill, this thing has no brakes

Man, the moment I really got into the groove with the M1912 experimental, I was almost disappointed to find the factory version was automatic. Maybe I yearn for precise pistol carbines for style points, I have no idea why I enjoyed using it so much despite how bad it was. With this in mind though, definitely going to be giving the MP18 experimental a try
Hey, if it works for you that’s great. I just found it too uncontrollable for accuracy but not firing consistent enough to beat most SMGs either. However, like all things, in the right hands it may work very well.
With the MP18 Experimental. I was running with Gen-Odyssey for a while and he switched to the MP18 experimental and for some reason that just clicked with both him and I. Like, while I prefer the assisting side of the other classes, the MP18 Experimental really is a beast that isn't used too often.

Probably one of the best "guides" I've ever watched. Equal parts funny, engaging and also sprinkled with some nice history triva as well. You've gotten a new sub and I'll certainly be checking out the other weapon tier lists since I just got back into BF1 :)
The rsc smg might be my favorite weapon in this game. No weapon in the game subverts your expectations for its category as much as the rsc smg, and while its chugging fire rate and small mag size makes it significantly harder to use than other smgs, its high hip fire accuracy and absurd close range dps means that higher skill floor is well rewarded. The only thing that activates my neurons in BF1 more than getting a kill with this thing is landing headshots with the iron sights on a bolt action.
The RSC SMG and the Maschinenpistole are like the two mafia goons where one is tall and skinny and the other is short and fat but both are equally goofy and lovable.
Honestly it's a shame you don't have the Enlister weapons in BF1. The M1919 is by far the most hipster Thompson to roll out with. Despite just being a Annihilator Factory. It has mildly better iron sights, what with the sleeker barrel and the hooded front sight making targeting easier.
The Model 10 is probably one of the most satisfying shotguns in all of gaming. Everything, from the animations, the sound design, the kick, and the sheer power, it all comes together beautifully. It's only beaten by double-barrel weapons like the M1900 or the M30. In direct contrast, the Hellriegel is just plain _boring._ It's a flat shooter, it has a very unassuming sound design, and it can keep firing for days before reloading. Every shitter in the game uses this thing (unless they're on the SMG 08). Speaking of which, the SMG 08 was way more fun when it first launched. It had a _low_ fire rate, befitting the fact that it's a mini Maxim. It could reach out further than pretty much any other SMG, and that clunky behaviour gave it a real identity. Then, for some ungodly reason, they completely flipped its performance around and it's just a boring bullet hose. The M1900 is just _awesome_ to use, and using slugs basically turns it into a sniper rifle that can one-shot at point blank. I respect all who use this thing. The MP1912 is a bit of a soft spot for me. It's a real skill cannon. I actually prefer the burst fire of the experimental, funnily enough. The RSC SMG, though, now _that_ is the big dick of the SMG world. It looks like a Mad Max prop and it behaves in distinctly the opposite way that any meta slave would want, and I _love it._ It's an 'SMG' that fires full scale _rifle rounds!_ The animations are sick! What's not to like? It's like showing up to a track meet where everyone has their fancy sports cars, and then you have a janky scrapper with an engine that makes up three quarters of its total body weight.
Damn. Messed up my sleep schedule because of this man. I cant explain it... Everytime i watch a Professor Mem vid it turns from watching it, to listening to it with my eyes closed, and then i wake up four hours later💀
Funny thing about the rsg smg is that it's not an smg, it's the Chauchat, they just cut it down and gave it to french tank crewmen, so it has high damage, a long reload, and a short magazine because it was an lmg and used rifle rounds.

No matter the tierlist, I always end up having the feeling that all guns destroy enemies if used correctly and thats why I like BF1, thats also why Im also a big hater of the smg08, it has all the beneficts and none of the downsides, and even if you take in consideration the weird recoil that doesn't matter when the sweatlords that use it have all more than 30 SS with it and already mastered its behavior (or not, since is a braindead weapon)
I agree with you, in fact the reason I feel so comfortable doing these tier lists based on personal preference is because any given gun can work depending on how you like to play.
I’m glad to see the Frommer Stop love, the unique design and quick + satisfying reloads made it a go since forever. I used to spawn in planes just to fly over the most contested point and jump out with the Frommer, much to the dismay of my team I’m sure.
Love the sjogren, my favorite shotty in the game. The accuracy of the slug variant makes it fun in medium range and that amazing inertial sliding action makes me feel so cool when I'm blasting down hallways
Still pretty funny how when introduced the SMG08 had the potential to be pretty fun with its chug chug chugging fire and high capacity, it only needed a smidge more damage to make it compare. But instead it became the monster it is.

They're so insanely useful for killing pursuing enemies around corners, taking down elites, crossing gaps / fleeing the enemy in an emergency, and all in all sounding like a fucking maniac as you stab someone to death

As a support main, I used to love the SMG-08 before they buffed it's fire rate. It's old chugging rate of fire was great to use as a suppressive weapon

To this day, I hate what they did to the SMG 08/18, it used to be one of those slow firing but accurate weapons for mid ranges, now it's just another bullet hose.
They made the 08 a ridiculous bullet hose and lowered the firing rate for the Machinen Pistole. Dice does some stuff that makes no sense.
Well, the fact that dice made the Hellriegel in game pretty accurately ( with the exception of the snail mag) for an SMG where only TWO photos signifying it even ever existed, still exists.

I wish the Browning Auto 5 was more powerful, because it's such a cool firearm. Hell, having an auto loading shotgun in the early 1900s is seriously impressive. John Browning really was one of the best gun designers in that era.

When the SMG08 was first introduced into BF1 it had a slower fire rate and was better for longer range shooting. Much better then.
One thing I think is surprising you didn’t mention with the Ribeyrolles is that the factory version is WAY more stable than the Optical and doesn’t not suffer from nearly as much visual recoil. I think you might wanna take a closer look at the Factory variant, I think it outperforms the optical even at range. Just set the iron sights to like 1.5 or 2x
Hmm the thing is according to the website I used for stats, the recoil is technically no different, but as I said, the sights bounce a lot more than they actually recoil, and I wouldn’t be surprised if for some reason that wasn’t as big of an issue in the factory variant. You may be right that it needs a closer look.

Maschinenpistole M1912 my beloved, remember spending hours to get those 5 stupid boat kills but it was damn worth it
I remember when I was trying to complete that assignment, I was damaging a boat with AT rockets, and I was only one rocket away, but when I went to lay down for the last shot, I was in a weird position on the shoreline, like I couldn’t go prone but I couldn’t back up either. Something else ended up stealing the kill. It was frustrating, but we made it eventually.
I remember getting quite a few kills with the c96 carbine cause someone said it was the worst gun to use.
@@MrBusch90 That’s a wild take for the M1917 Carbine, but I think it might be pretty true for the tanker/support C96 Carbine. It has tons more recoil, less damage, and loads via clips in a smaller magazine. It’s really incredible how the pistol carbines available to support are the worst class of primaries kind of objectively. They are basically sidearms with slightly improved stats.
I actually found M1912 experimental more rewarding to use, since it's a 4-shot kill up close with 1200rpm! I think the challenge is positioning and timing for its low tolerance for missing shots.
True, I've seen a lot of love for it, and I've wondered if I've been too harsh, but the ridiculous recoil and 2 round burst were a bit too weird for me.
As someone who set out to gain at least one service star with each weapon (except the Peacekeeper, just looking at the guide is a pain), and has already got one with each assault primaries, I must say I fully agree with this tier list, tho I would have put the MP-18 into S tier, simply because I really like using it. Sure there are faster ttk guns along with higher capacity ones, but the MP-18 always has my back. Plus it feels the most real, since it was used in large(ish) quantities irl, and running around with it and the P08 on Amiens or Passchendale as the germans never gets old.

Yeah, I replied to another comment here basically saying I don’t know why I didn’t put the MP 18 into S Tier, especially because I didn’t have anything bad to say about it, and the only thing I possibly COULD say is that it’s kind of basic. The development was too far along by the time I made this realization, and the list isn’t super serious anyway, but realistically the MP 18 is an S Tier gun.

I love your battlefield videos so much. Bf1 is my favorite game in the franchise, and my favorite MP shooter in general. Each class was fun to play, with different weapons archetypes to make a few different play styles viable within each class. I always found myself running the MP12-18 experimental, even though it's not exactly great, just because of the fun reload animations. The 1900 shotgun was also pretty fun. Assault is my least played class in the game, but that's only because I adored several weapons in each of the other classes.

Hearing the thoughts of someone with BFV brain call the BF1 shotguns weaker is really, really weird. Within BF1's weapon balance and maps, they fuck really hard. BFV's weapon and map balance make those more "powerful" shotguns way, way harder to use.

I play both and I agree. BFV Shotguns are much more powerful but the flow of that game makes it hard to find right moments for them to be good at. While BF1's shotguns, though weaker, are much more satisfying and less frustrating to use than those in BFV.

Also the whole bit about the experimental 2 burst pistol was really odd to hear. That's one of the best guns in the game, if you know BF1's maps and flow. He doesn't, and it colors his opinions accordingly.
@@stepanokhrimenko9189 They are stronger at hugging distance. The base BF5 shotguns are strictly worse outside 10 meters and even with the mods are still a cut below the 10A hunter. Hitting your enemy with 200 dmg or 101dmg is in effect the same.

M1917 Carbine, my beloved
That was a lot of fun to get all the stars for.
The ribby factory is much better than the optical imo, recoil is less bumpy letting you appreciate the near lack of horizontal recoil.
Short bursts counter the vertical recoil and the bipod makes it a pleasure to use. Also the bolt opening animation is amazing compared to bfv’s more anonymous one.
I also miss the old SMG08/18, it was very bad but had more charm as a mini LMG than the love child of the Hellriegel and MAB18.
I also miss the old 1200rpm on the auto MP12/p16.
Overall I think the kits of bf1, maybe with the exception of scout, offer so much variety of playstyles with really few unfun guns.

People don't realize that a few highly accurate shots can go way farther than raw fire rate. With the right practice it becomes a head's worst nightmare. Someone can be laying down a wall of bullets and miss half and all you have to do is land just a couple well placed headshots.
Also in CQC maps you can round corners and absolutely trigger-finger the thing and with very little recoil you can still be accurate without even aiming.

Edit: If you ever rank the vehicles of Bf 1, PLEASE put the Attack Plane with the Tank Hunter variant (the one with 37mm) at the bottom. It absolute destroys balance. One can argue that it is hard to aim put just a couple of rounds in it and you get the hand of it, hell, I´m not that good with planes but managed to dominate a server after equipping it and getting the hand of it. Not to mention that overshadows the Barrage Bomber (which is a beauty) since it can destroy any tank in a single run if you´re good or at least in 2 runs, and it even overshadows the fighters since it has a 2/3 shot potential on all planes. And if you have a decent gunner on you, there´s no way you can get shot down unless the other pilot is also using a Attack Plane with the Tank Hunter variant.
Aww heck yeah! I'm so glad DICE dug up all the whacky SMG prototypes for this game. And thanks for validating my enthusiasm for the RSC SMG, my beloved.
Little story: When I first got into BF1, I was pigeon-holed into the smallest population, Xbox on Oceania, and sometime in 2020, DICE cut off all of the official servers. If I wanted to play, I either had to risk massive ping in NA/SA/EU servers, or play on the only Xbox Oceania server: A hardcore competitive community run server with 2x damage.
It was a pretty frustrating experience as it was competitive, with seasonal cash prizes, so everyone would run around one-shotting each other with double damage sniper rifles, slug-shotguns, M1911s, revolvers and the weapon I now loathe most in the entire game, the RSC 1917. However, just playing for fun and going against the grain, the RSC SMG became my most used primary weapon as it just felt so good, deliberate to use and, ironically, uniquely balanced by the double damage.
At close range, it'd be able to 2-tap, or even one-shot headshot enemies, whilst still retaining decent close-medium range performance. It really felt like a sawn-off SMG pounding some poor shmuck with full-power 8mm Lebel rounds, however, it was balanced out by that 4 second long reload and 8+1 capacity. It was a really effective tool for destroying 2-3 guys with a lengthy break in-between or, as you said, "doing and assload of damage in a short time with deliberate resets in aggression" and, after coming back to on PC, I really miss the 2x damage RSC SMG.
The Auto-5 is uniquely balanced on 2x servers too btw. While the other shottys can paste a poor soul just by sneezing in their general direction, the Auto-5 could still hardly kill an enemy in one shot whilst still not having much reach beyond. But it still could and did so in hair-tiggered semi-auto. And it made a fun experience knowing that if you played your cards right, you could rush down an objective and string together 5-7 well placed shots to rid the better part of two squads. The Auto-BFV is the superior weapon (atleast gameplay wise,), but I wish the BF1 had the balancing to just barely kill with a single shot in vanilla.

I randomly stumbled on this gun in game and became obsessed with its design and incredibly flashy reload animation. After practically forcing myself to use it for awhile I learned it’s pros and cons and how to make the most of them, to the point that I actually got good with the weapon.

Honestly, the shotguns seem really balanced. A lot of them are high risk, high reward, with consistent damage that require you to force close range engagements in order to get the one shot. The slug shotguns in this game are amazing because they are actually viable at long range engagements without making semi auto rifles obsolete.
I never was able to get any dlc for this game as a teen, my go to was almost exclusively the helriegal and I’d occasionally pick of others dlc guns and wish for more

People used to despise the Model 10 because of how ridiculous it was, especially in the beta. I never really messed around with it too much myself because I only wanted to use guns that I owned, leading me to the M97. Nowadays I'm a 1900 man though.
Ngl the machinenpistole experimental variant is one of the most fun weapons and became my go-to with 80 service stars lmao. Once you get used to the burst, and switching to single shot, you can take people out at longer ranges. It's a fun challenge and like you said, feels cool knowing nobody uses it. Very unique weapon.

Although the 12g automatic is quirky and doesn’t fit the mold of the other shotguns, I personally find the extended version good for spamming into crowds or melting down SMG08 users.
If it’s one guy with an SMG08, it’s as easy as emptying the entire tube magazine into the poor guy until he’s dead before he gets a bead on you and spray you down. It’s about good crosshair placement and willingness to magdump
If it’s groups of people you can empty the entire magazine to do as much damage as possible before needing to retreat or finish the job with explosives.
For that it’s a favorite of mine on maps like Fort De Vaux, Amiens, Verdun Heights, Argonne as it gives a fighting chance against the SMG08 users and people who like to group up, I find if you can get over the mental block of expecting a one shot kill, this thing has no brakes

Man, the moment I really got into the groove with the M1912 experimental, I was almost disappointed to find the factory version was automatic. Maybe I yearn for precise pistol carbines for style points, I have no idea why I enjoyed using it so much despite how bad it was.

Hey, if it works for you that’s great. I just found it too uncontrollable for accuracy but not firing consistent enough to beat most SMGs either. However, like all things, in the right hands it may work very well.
With the MP18 Experimental. I was running with Gen-Odyssey for a while and he switched to the MP18 experimental and for some reason that just clicked with both him and I. Like, while I prefer the assisting side of the other classes, the MP18 Experimental really is a beast that isn't used too often.

The rsc smg might be my favorite weapon in this game. No weapon in the game subverts your expectations for its category as much as the rsc smg, and while its chugging fire rate and small mag size makes it significantly harder to use than other smgs, its high hip fire accuracy and absurd close range dps means that higher skill floor is well rewarded. The only thing that activates my neurons in BF1 more than getting a kill with this thing is landing headshots with the iron sights on a bolt action.
The RSC SMG and the Maschinenpistole are like the two mafia goons where one is tall and skinny and the other is short and fat but both are equally goofy and lovable.

Man. I've been an Assault Main on BF1 since the game released in 2016 and this video just gave me so much nostalgia. Also fuck the SMG 08.
Honestly it's a shame you don't have the Enlister weapons in BF1. The M1919 is by far the most hipster Thompson to roll out with. Despite just being a Annihilator Factory. It has mildly better iron sights, what with the sleeker barrel and the hooded front sight making targeting easier.
The Model 10 is probably one of the most satisfying shotguns in all of gaming. Everything, from the animations, the sound design, the kick, and the sheer power, it all comes together beautifully. It's only beaten by double-barrel weapons like the M1900 or the M30.
In direct contrast, the Hellriegel is just plain _boring._ It's a flat shooter, it has a very unassuming sound design, and it can keep firing for days before reloading. Every shitter in the game uses this thing (unless they're on the SMG 08).
Speaking of which, the SMG 08 was way more fun when it first launched. It had a _low_ fire rate, befitting the fact that it's a mini Maxim. It could reach out further than pretty much any other SMG, and that clunky behaviour gave it a real identity. Then, for some ungodly reason, they completely flipped its performance around and it's just a boring bullet hose.
The M1900 is just _awesome_ to use, and using slugs basically turns it into a sniper rifle that can one-shot at point blank. I respect all who use this thing.
The MP1912 is a bit of a soft spot for me. It's a real skill cannon. I actually prefer the burst fire of the experimental, funnily enough.
The RSC SMG, though, now _that_ is the big dick of the SMG world. It looks like a Mad Max prop and it behaves in distinctly the opposite way that any meta slave would want, and I _love it._ It's an 'SMG' that fires full scale _rifle rounds!_ The animations are sick! What's not to like? It's like showing up to a track meet where everyone has their fancy sports cars, and then you have a janky scrapper with an engine that makes up three quarters of its total body weight.
Damn. Messed up my sleep schedule because of this man. I cant explain it... Everytime i watch a Professor Mem vid it turns from watching it, to listening to it with my eyes closed, and then i wake up four hours later💀

Funny thing about the rsg smg is that it's not an smg, it's the Chauchat, they just cut it down and gave it to french tank crewmen, so it has high damage, a long reload, and a short magazine because it was an lmg and used rifle rounds.

No matter the tierlist, I always end up having the feeling that all guns destroy enemies if used correctly and thats why I like BF1, thats also why Im also a big hater of the smg08, it has all the beneficts and none of the downsides, and even if you take in consideration the weird recoil that doesn't matter when the sweatlords that use it have all more than 30 SS with it and already mastered its behavior (or not, since is a braindead weapon)
I agree with you, in fact the reason I feel so comfortable doing these tier lists based on personal preference is because any given gun can work depending on how you like to play.

I’m glad to see the Frommer Stop love, the unique design and quick + satisfying reloads made it a go since forever. I used to spawn in planes just to fly over the most contested point and jump out with the Frommer, much to the dismay of my team I’m sure.
Infantry combat is the most fun to me anyways, why not use a plane just as a means to get the best flank? ;P
Love the sjogren, my favorite shotty in the game. The accuracy of the slug variant makes it fun in medium range and that amazing inertial sliding action makes me feel so cool when I'm blasting down hallways

Still pretty funny how when introduced the SMG08 had the potential to be pretty fun with its chug chug chugging fire and high capacity, it only needed a smidge more damage to make it compare.
But instead it became the monster it is.
I love this man taste is fun literally I would have the same rankings I love using weapons that are not the best but fun to use just because of the skill factor and how rewarding they are. Just subscribed
