    ive recently picked up a ruger precision rimfire in .22lr, threw on a silencerco warlock, and its slowly becoming my favorite gun to shoot.. especially with some aguila sniper super subs.

    I remember, my old friend Paul who taught me to shoot a bit, we started with the rabbits. He had a CZ .22LR and as an engineer he made his own suppressor.
    You could hear the rifle cycle, but not real noise, it was louder when you heard the bullet hit the rabbit and you can tell if you got a head shot or not from the impact sound.
    Using subsonics obviously
    For many years when I have told this story people have laughed at me thinking I'm bullshitting, but a proper suppressor and subsonics will do this.
    You can get quieter than in this film...
    Still, there is no way the centrefires with supersonic rounds are going to be this quiet as they maybe in Hollywood. Got to be subsonic for the stealth win

  • @zactanner5187
    @zactanner5187 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can really tell how quiet it is if you compare how loud the cycling of the bolt is compared to the shot. It is pretty much the same level of sound. Shit is nuts. Like the downrange footage. Crazy quiet from that far away.

  • @doughronek6173
    @doughronek6173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    .22 high velocity has a muzzle velocity ranging From 1200 -1400fps subsonic is sub 1100fps, so they are not the same as you suggest. Much easier to quiet subsonic. High velocity cracks as the bullet breaks the sound barrier. I have the precision Ruger with a silencerco sparrow. Tons of fun

    The timney trigger cause the failed to fire .
    There is a tolerance difference between Timney n Ruger
    If cycle the bolt energetically in ONE motion forward n down
    The trigger will fail to cock
    With the Timney trigger. You have to cycle the bolt in two motion
    Forward first then down
    Lightening or making the trigger heavier doesn’t change the failure to cock

    Looks like your trigger is set a bit too light, seems it’s not catching and coming forward as you lock the bolt.
    I have the American rim fire, same action not as fancy trigger but all I could want for a 22. The trigger is light enough to be dangerous.
    I get similar sound level with a 10” AR w/CMMG 22 conversion bolt assembly with the Aguilera SSS 60gr and “say a crappy” suppressor .

    • @silvermediastudio
      @silvermediastudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's most likely due to diameter, plating, and lubricant type.
      Also, are you cleaning and allowing the barrels 30-50 rounds to acclimate every time you change ammo? This has been demonstrated as significant in 22 groupings. Shooting a few rounds of each in sequence introduces confounding variables that aren't intuitive for shooters not intimately knowledgeable with the nuance of maximizing 22 accuracy.

      To my awesome Patreon Members and my subscribers here, thank you! We are beginning a new chapter, ushering in a new fight and WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT.

    How is it that you don't own a good dB meter? How about you shoot it next to a Benjamin Marauder .22 pellet gun for comparison? Is this the quietest you have ever tested? Can you try using CCI suppressor 45gr 970 fps? Clearly, This is IMPRESIVELY quiet, it just would be nice to know how quiet compared to the next louder available set up. My point is the recording devices kinda make these all sound similar, don't they, so a 115 dB and a 120 dB suppressor sound about the same on the internet, but not in real life. If you could just give a relative loudness info from the quietest ever tested to the next and next, this would be more useful. Obviously it is really quiet, but the quietest? or 2nd or 3rd??

      If you made a 243 shoot under 1100fps it would be basically worthless as a hunting or target round. That's why silenced 22 is so fun, you hardly lose any performance as 22lr already isn't a hunting round.

      It's not the explosion of the powder that makes the most noise in many cases. It's the bullet travelling at supersonic speeds. So, you're going to have a hard time finding subsonic 5.56 nato rounds. There is subsonic 9mm ammo I think, but the suppressors are comically large to achieve similar performance.
