why didnt you show the steps of actually applying it? the directions read to keep in wet for any where from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the type of substrate.. it would have been good to see actually what you applied it with and how you "kept it wet" the entire time..
I'd top coat it with a topcoat paint after all that work, why chance uv issues. I think you did a great job. I'm watching all the por15 videos before I do mine. Good luck with truck restoration.
Hey bud, that frame turned out looking real nice. I'm restoring an '85 D150 and looking to do the same. I know you said you had leftovers of everything, but I was wondering if you think you could have gotten away with just a pint of the rust preventative or if buying a quart was actually needed.
I just wish por15 prep wasnt so extensive. If you want to do a really good job and only do it once it takes a couple of days of time which i just dont have. Looks amazing tho

Ah okay. Im not offroading with my Chevy, so mud aint the biggest issue, but salt, thats the pain. But have been thinking about a power washer to clean it more often.
I would think you’re good with salt, rock chips are going to take out any type of paint after a long time but you can always spray a clear coat of the high abrasion paint if you drive on dirt roads a lot.
Bud, I hate to rain on your parade, but i feel like you didn't follow por15's instructions very well: 1. Remove dirt and "loose" rust, not "all" rust. Por15 adheres better to a rusty surface than a bare metal surface. Just remove anything thats flaky & loose. 2. The cleaner degreaser is a soap. You said you used soap & water afterward, you didn't need to, and it may have left behind residue. 3. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to let the Metal Ready Prep dry on the metal, keep it wet for 20-30 minutes, then rinse off with plain water. 4. I hope you protected you cab from this stuff, i don't know how it affects paint. 5. You're supposed to apply the 2nd coat of por15 once the first coat has just dried enough to not come off when you gently touch it. Typically within a couple hours, depending on the heat and humidity, not the next day. If you do wait too long, then your supposed to scuff up the first coat before applying the 2nd coat. Por15 really needs a rough surface with "tooth" to adhere to, which is why rust (but not loose rust) is better than bare smooth metal, and why you must etch bare metal. Hopefully your coating holds up regardless.
Dude you're showing a before and after. You didn't show how you applied it. What was the purpose of the video if you only show the rust before and the p0r15 after. Make that make sense.
Dude. Stop wasting your time with silly hand tools. Die grinder and flat grinders using wire wheels all the way to the bare metal. And no water. Remove rust using rust mort. Way better plan here. Just did my 97 frame.

Thank you man. Yes I brushed it on. One large brush for the wide open areas and a small one for the tight spots.

Im looking to paint my chassis aswell, and found out about POR15. Is it possible to clean it with hot water and ammonia aswell?

Not sure why you’re wasting your time.. that frame will last a lifetime as is in your area. You should see a frame from the north east
