- Sidequests in "The Legend of Zelda" are almost as great as the main stories. For this list, we’ll be showcasing in no particular order the 10 best quests that distracted us from our main adventures throughout “The Legend of Zelda” series. If a quest wasn’t necessary to beat the game, it was considered for this list. Our list includes From the Ground Up in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" (2017), the serie's first trading quest from "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" (1993), Cawlin's Love Letter from "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" (2011), the Nintendo Gallery from "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" (2003), and more! Anju and Kafei's sidequest is the most magical and romantic experience in the games I've played. It is a ray of hope in the depressive allegory that is Majora's Mask.
They even extend this in the manga adaptation.

@@alebelliard We see how Kafei became a kid, during the time Link is a deku scrub Anju mentions Kafei, Link mistakes Kafei for being one of Skull Kid’s minions, instead of being in the Inn Kafei, and Anju are with Link, Tatl, Tael, and Skull Kid at the Clock Town tower where before Anju due to Tatl telling her the whole story arrives Kafei gets injured by Skull Kid by a energy blast, and both Anju & Kafei embrace their love, they witness the giants arrive to stop the moon, Majora’s Mask coming to life along with seeing Link become the fierce deity.
@@TwilightLink77 That's pretty interesting to see them expand on this in the manga.
@@TwilightLink77 that doesn't make sens, since we see kafei as a kid right when we exit the clock tower in the beginning of the game and skull kid was with us right before that and bofore that link wasn't in deku form.
Terrey Town is my favorite out of any of the BOTW quest simply due to the music changing every time you add a new person to the village. It’s a really nice touch to an already sweet story.
Anju & Kafei's quest is so emotional, my eyes got really glossy and wet when I finally finished it. Good memories from 2 decades ago in my very early years as a teenager 😍😢

It's the very last one I do just before confronting the end boss.
Anju and kafei was and still my number 1 side quest . i wish more games can implant such an entertaining and fun quest .
Ah I love Cawlin's Love Letter side quest! Wish they showed the scene of Cawlin crying out of the room while Link just stands in the background watching all the drama. I also love Tarrytown side quest and the cute wedding, it adds more realistic appeal to the game.
Whether the Aliens are easy or not. It still makes my heart race and makes me anxious. Only beat it on 3DS using the bottom screen map to find the closest alien to keep an eye on.
Epona is definitely worth it considering how big Hyrule Field is in Ocarina of Time it’s definitely worth getting her
Nearly every objective in BOTW is a sidequest except for Destroy Ganon.

I loved the Picto box side quest in Wind Waker, I did it while I had a week or so off school… to think it was 20 years ago…
Actually, Kafei was cursed with the child body before his wedding ceremony mask was stolen, it’s actually why he was targeted by the thief in the first place.
Wind Waker's "sculpture" side quest was my all-time favorite. Other than the Heart Pieces (I had only ever needed 3. Which I never found.) It was the last thing I did for the 100%.
The only other game I had 100% at that time (being 11) was Majora's Mask.
My favorite part of the biggoron sword quest is how you can't just cheat it by warping which makes you go on a mini adventure and I love that
And without Epona is impossible to complete it
Warping doesn't work for the timed events of the game, you need Epona for those

@@Terriermon1234 Taking aside speed running tricks there’s not enough time when you get to the points where you have to get to the places with time limit like taking the eyeball frog from Zora domain all the way to Lake Hylia if you try doing it the intended way

From The Ground Up is a very sweet side quest. You help build a nice little town and it ends with the Gerudo Rhondson and the construction worker Hudson getting married. Rhondson doesn’t entirely understand vows she’s not used to, but they tie the knot anyway
Tarrey Town is by far one of the most gratifying side quests I've ever completed.
Eventide Island side quest was my favorite.
Tarrey Town in BotW will always be my favorite.

4: The golden bugs in TP
5: Biggoron sword OOT
6: Savage labyrinth WW
7: Zunari’s flower trading sequence WW

One of My favorite Zelda side quests is from Breath of the Wild is the Shrine quests to acquire the Tunic of the Wild and from The Wind Waker statue quest for the shop keeper.
I like using Epona to get into Gerudo Valley because there's an epic cut scene of her jumping over the bridge 🐎
Wait you can get into gerudo valley without her?!?! I’ve don’t so many playthroughs and thought I had to get how do you do it without her?
@@billywright6529 theres a bit of wood at the top of the sign on the other side of the gerudo bridge that you can hookshot onto
But it's intended to have Epona making it technically not a side quest. The Hookshot thing is a neat trick.
You do need to finish Link’s Awakening’s trading sequence to finish the game. Otherwise you cannot read the book in the library with instructions on how to navigate the Windfish’s Egg to confront the Final Boss Gauntlet. (Theoretically you could stumble upon the right order through sheer dumb luck, but it’s not likely, especially since the Order changes randomly from playthrough to playthrough. (Don’t ask me how many times I’ve replayed this game…))
The boomerang, however, is entirely optional. Obtaining it however makes the game so much easier. (It’s not particularly difficult? But being able to kill antifairies, bubbles, and Eagle Tower’s antikirbies is great for reducing the annoyance for repeatedly getting hit by these otherwise indestructable enemies. Plus, free fairies.) It’s also So Satisfying to hit the Final Boss’s Final Form dead in the eye with your boomerang and oneshotting it with the power of friendship (or…cheating a neutral monster out of his weapon when he begs you to trade it back…sorry dude.)
Honorable Mentions in Link’s Awakening:
-secret seashells (nifty new sword as the reward. Obtainable after getting the zora flippers. Well, in OG and DX. Switch added several more shells, rewards, and switched up the order.)
-color dungeon (DX and Switch). Not a hard dungeon, but it has several minibosses that can be pretty cheap if you choose to take it on immediately following Bottle Grotto and returning Bowwow.
But…yeah. You can get the best optional items the second you have:
-two instruments (clothes upgrade)
-sword upgrade (if you collected enough shells; final early shells needed accessible after obtaining flippers)
-boomerang (hookshot and completing the Trading Sequence up to finally placing the Mermaid Scale in the Mermaid Statue.)
By the end of Link’s Awakening Link really starts to feel OP. (I barely use my sword or boomerang after obtaining the magic rod, which is even faster than either the arrows or boomerang and with an unlimited range with even greater power on common enemies.)
I thought you only get the lens which lets you read the book with the second to last part of the trading quest, the last trade is what get's you the boomerang, right? So you have to do 99 percent of the quest so I think that's technically accurate.
The Biggoron sword also helps with the Ganon , it was a real pain with the Megaton Hammer and the sword made it much easier
I love the Biggoron sword, when I replay Oot I will always get it before I enter the forest temple, the earliest that you can get it. It's one of my favorite swords in all of Zelda.
here's a fun tip for the gallery in Wind Waker!
if you still need pictures of Gohma, the Giant Baba Kalle Demos, the Big Poe Jalhalla, and Molgera, you get a 2nd chance to get those pics in the flashback boss battles in Ganon's Tower. Even though the bosses are black and white, the pictures can still be accepted
And before Miiverse was discontinued, you could send pics in Tingle bottles. Also, any pictures that were acceptable would have a "Good" stamp in the NW corner.
i remember to wait until the last second to rewind time in majoras mask after ending anju and kafei quest, i was just watching them huging, i just wanted to let them enjoy this moment, until, u know, i rewinded everything
Epona is definitely up there!

Okay, wouldn't have been my pick, but I see your point. I was going to say the Forest Water quest, but I'll admit one heart piece in 20 minutes is probably less satisfying than a room filled with art after...well, "a few" hours of photography.
let’s be real anju & kafeis side quest is the best side quest in the whole series

The Link’s Awakening trading quest is obligatory to beat the game since the last part gives you the mermaid scale for the magnifying lens in order to read the book with the directions for getting through the Wind Fish’s egg.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought this
With those rules the whole main quest of Breath of the wild enters the list XD
The sidequests in Majora's mask is the best one so far
Defending the ranch in Majora is pretty fun
Everytime I play Majora's Mask I always complete Anju and Kafei quest the day I get to the moon so they can live the marriage Link witnessed happily after
Long/series quests should have separate list. They easily dominate the top spots.
Eventide Island: Where you feel like Tom Hanks as the Castaway.
And the orbs are Link's Wilsons.

@@RentabaAmakura yeah but that's basically a pixel perfect exploit. Epona is the intended method, and therefore not a side quest.

You can use the long shot that you get in the water temple to cross the gap
In a way you need Epona if you plan to go get biggoron's sword, you can't do it without her for the timed events of that quest
Technically you don't actually have to do the alien thing you just have to learn epona's son in order to use her to enter the ocean and the canyon.
Heck you don't even need to ride around on epona all you needed the bunny Hood arrows and if you want to make things much easier just slow down time by playing the Song of Time backwards. The aliens will move just as slowly as the clock does and therefore become much more manageable
There a way to get some of you things on the inland but note if you do so you will lose them when your done it but if you drop some in the water before going on the inland then pick them back up you can use them on the inland
Eventide Island? There is a way to bring some of your best gear into the challenge. However, once you clear the challenge, you will permanently lose said gear, unless you somehow pull a fast one.
I didn't lose my gear that I dropped on the boat before stepping on the island

The Anju & Kafei side quest though it was fun, it was also a pain in the ass if you messed up.
Specially for me the part where getting the sun mask inside Sakon’s hideout it always had me anxious when doing it

Link’s Awakening’s is required for the final dungeon.
You only need the pegasus boots to unlock the Color Dungeon. Different book.
Trail of Sword in BotW is a good one
I tried to do the Kafei and anju side quest but I could never find them. So I just gave up. Most of these quests I haven’t done.I feel like the only ones I did complete were the ones of botw and epona.
To start that quest, you need to receive Kafei's Mask from his mother in Majoras Mask
It’s quite a bit easier to do in the 3DS version!

No side quests can compare to the kafai and anju side quest. It is the best side quest in history

You can use the hookshot.
Think the hookshot is too short, need the longshot from the water temple.
I thought you needed to do the romani quest because if you dont, her sister doesnt go to deliver milk. then you cant take her to clock town to get the mask needed to get to the final boss

You need to get Epona to beat the game. You can’t jump over the Gerudo broken bridge without her.
You can use the hookshot,so it's not mandatory but the satisfaction of umiliate ingo is priceless

I've never played it. There's so many Zelda games I hadn't even heard of let alone played, I feel like I've been robbed. haha Same for me, by time I got a gamecube (used & problematic), I still couldn't get games for it & only ones I had were given to me I think or I was able to borrow (I got to play like 4 games & one was the gc version of OoT so not new to me). Sooo many games they should put on the Switch (& make permanently available on the online access).

You need Epona in OOT and you need to do the trade quest in link's awakening.....without sequence breaking or using glitches

The Links awakening side quest is required to beat the game. You have to get the magic mirror in order to read the book that tells you the path in the egg

Think there's also a very long ladder at end of river (not the one under waterfall where you get a heart piece).
Epona = jump broken bridge in gerudo.
Hookshot gets you across as well, making her optional.

Wind waker figurine quest doesnt deserve to be here, it is the worst ever. Needlessly long. Sometimes some pics are denied, and there is even something that only that sidequest has in the entire series: permanantly missables.

There's ladders on side of stone walls. But Epona entry is better cutscene.

No offense Watchmojo, but that alien defending quest is awful and you know it! My brother and I failed that many times in the N64 version. But I did beat it in the 3DS version.

Pretty sure there's actually ladders on side of stone walls to get in & out, but using Epona to jump the fences leads to a better cutscene reveal.

dude, the biggoron quest is hooorible, one of the most obtuse quest ever, now it could be fun (it's not) because you can find a guide anywhere in a blink of an eye, back then you were screwed, only if a friend completed it or you have a guide (magazine) you could have a chance, the quest is easily on the top 10 worst actually

Actually, yes you do need to get Epona in "Ocarina of Time", cause you need her to jump the canyon in Gerudo Valley when the bridge collapsed

I consider the entirety of Majora's Mask to be the best side quest ever! Has more emphasis on the non playable character than the actual "main" quest
