does everyone have this negative impression of the “a call from the depths” quest? I found it quite early cuz I was inspired to go to the great plateau cuz duh of course I was. and I had a lot of fun working out and solving the mystery of the goddess statue and the discovery of my first barterer statue!
I think it was a good quest. The heart/stamina vessel reward was lame because it was a long quest. I think the real reward was pointing you towards the area to unlock auto build. I threw all the eyes down first, only to find I had to go back up and throw them again. That sucked.
Same thing I decided in breath of the wild. I will do every quest, find every shrine and visit every location. But the hundred or so koroks I have is all I will be getting. 1000 of them?? Shameful
The undisputed WORST sidequest is the shrine quest where you're supposed to reunite the grown ass adult Hylian and the baby Zora who claim to be a couple. Disagree and there's a cell waiting for you at the county
It would've been better if they A) kept the original translation that they're just BFF pen pals, B) the Hylian was an actual kid, or C) the Zora was actually an adult. The US-based localization team are sus and might need to be investigated. And even IF those taboos were not present, their quests were still a pain to do because physics.
Agreed. I actually enjoyed exploring Gerudo Canyon in BOTW and all the quests that went in there were so much fun to me. #9 seems to get a lot of hate from people who want their hand held during a quest. They aren’t easy to find and will take a lot of walking. But if you do the crystal with it you can have a lot of fun.
Wow, I’m surprised they hate these so much. I disagree with almost all of these points. To each their own, I guess. But here’s my takes: 1. I didn’t have a problem paying for the shrine rock, I just wasn’t good at building things, because I found it fairly early in the game. So I dropped it in the middle of the lake. Left and went back to the rock having respawned and all was good. 2. Almost a copy of the same quest in BOTW. And I did the same thing in both games, found the “lost” people first, then the quest-giver. So didn’t have much problem. 3. Actually enjoyed this one. What do players have against exploring? 4. Again, found the “lost” person before the bottle. I don’t think I actually found the bottle at all. 5. More annoying part was finding the outfit pieces. And the Yiga mini-tornado attack can actually be useful. I find it a great way to mine gems without breaking all my weapons. 6. Again, most wells can be found by exploring. Just take a photo and use the sensor function to find the rest. Just wish I could actually put the snowglobe somewhere in-game. It looks cute! 7. I didn’t see any problems with the original BOTW quest, and didn’t even know there were people who did have a problem with it until shortly before TOTK came out. Didn’t have much issue with the sequel quest, either. 8. Probably the only one on this list I actually agree with. Yes, it was annoying. But gathering flint is easy, so just save up a bunch to give to the dude. 9. I was just sad that the gut check bros, who had essentially the same quest in BOTW, didn’t seem to be around in TOTK. I guess they were subject to the evil yummy rock curse. 10. I loved this one! I found it fairly early because I was convinced there would be something great on the plateau. And I was right! Great callback to BOTW, especially having the chasms all in the same spots as the original shrines.
I enjoyed most of these quests especially the Goron moon gazing one, I thought was really cool. I'm doing the endurance one right now and yes it's pretty ridiculous lol and I have to do it twice. I don't know what it is with nintendo to have two guys standing half-naked staring at each other all night.
An easy way to do the endurance test quest is to simply light a fire and wait to day or night, placing the wood can be finicky due the small area you have to stand on but its leagues faster
8:55. I enjoyed it. While Link was standing on the rock, I emptied the washing machine and did other chores. When I came back, Link was standing alone!
I actually made a reddit poll the other day asking people their fave side quest. & Lurelin Village is winning. I forgot to say this on the best side quests video but I'm actually pretty disappointed that's not on there, as that's 1 of my faves
i think people only like the lurelin village quest for its rewards - free meals, free healing+, free stamina boost, and free monster goodies. but fighting all those monsters suuuuucked. i still haven't beat the pirates in akkala because the reward can't possibly be as good as it was in lurelin.
I am deep in the game (probably 80-90% minus Koroks) and Lurelin stands out as such a well designed side story. People from all over the kingdom foreshadow it, but Lurelin doesn't automatically show up on the map so you have to find it first. Then, even after you clear out the pirates, there are many extra steps to make Lurelin really shine. When I finally discovered it, I went all in and cleared it, rebuilt, raided the pirate hideout, retrieved the shopkeepers boat, made some kind of curry for the Hateno transplant, and then finally got the water racetrack up and running. By the end of it the rewards, and your title as "Savior of the Village" feels completely earned. They even have a ceremony and put on a dance for you! Totally the best batch of side quests in the game, the only place that felt similar was the series of quests in Gerudo Town, both side and main quests.
@@HarmonizedHero same here, but regardless of wanting to fight it, you kind of have to for the quest, as much as you have to fight ANY Flux Construct for shrine stones or chests.
I've actually stumbled into the "Bottled Cry for Help" sidequest on accident during my late game. Good thing I had a boat build on hand, figuratively and literaly. It was basically one of those Lurelin boats with 2 fans and a steering stick.
The crystal quest in Tarrey Town isn't that hard. I usually look up what to do on quests if I don't know what to do and moongazing Gorons was one of them. I didn't bother doing all the wells. They aren't necessary. You don't get a good reward for finding all of them. I was a bit pissed when I got a lame reward for clearing the depths. 6:49 That was creepy. 7:54 I don't remember this one. The endurance contest was annoying. I think making a campfire can help skip the tedium.
Dude, my guy, you DO realize that you have no choice BUT to take the Yiga Blademaster exam if you're gunnin' for all 152 shrines. Whether you like it or not.
I actually liked some of this list but for each their own 😊 the one I was frustrated was from the froggy armor as you needed to do a lot of quests and even if I enjoyed most quests I thought it was too much for the froggy armor, also the Zora child one was just good for me but that twist was weird for sure.
I really liked "a call from the depths". I wasn't sure what I was doing, I mean, who the fuck am I helping, am I helping the bad guy? I felt intrigued from the begging. It was a little tedious sometimes, but it really paid off
I did a quest last night in gerudo desert where I literally had to wait an entire night standing on a slab of rock for 50 rupees. Then like a sucker I stood on the rock for an entire day and got 300 rupees. Wth was that!?
For me, the Rock for Sale Shrine Quest was MUCH worse. I could not get the crystal to the Shrine easily and it took me like 30 minutes to get to them and I wasted a lot of Zonaite to get to it.
I hate Mattison’s side quest because of how she always says -son in her sentences and Tarrey Town just feels like a cultist town because of all the brainwashing to use the word 'son' or else you die. It’s too creepy. I hate the Tarrey Towners because if your name isn’t 'son' you aren’t allowed to work there. I hate that Nintendo put such a thing in Breath of the Wild to begin with and then that godforsaken wedding with Rhondson and then everyone else with the son name along with Hudson is peeved that she doesn’t want her child to have the son name. Cultists!
Nah the flint one and buying the stone can bite one. The rest were ok. I would actually throw all the stable picture ones on this list. They are either too obvious or way too obscure.
it’s actually been confirmed the dialogue with that quest and characters from Botw had been mistranslated from the English localization people, and Sesan was always relatively innocent participant and unknowing, then just opted friendship later with meeting and reveal
@@hnlgd37 it doesn't seem so much mistranslated as purposely translated in a way to make it romantic when it originally wasn't. like they added entire lines that didn't exist in the japanese. it does not help that all of the dialogue in their TOTK interactions double down on this.
Here is my entire issue with this quest. Zora live so much longer than Hylians and we don’t get Finleys age. She is considered a juvenile to the Zora but they take like 50 years to mature. This make it very muddy. It’s still creepy ass all hell and would have been better if they made Finley older in the TOTK. The friendship thing is really bad cop out.
How did your brain come to that conclusion? The final boss takes 10x the length of time as the first and there are 5 boss fights before that with mini bosses. That’s if you don’t do all the temples which take way longer than the divine beasts. Not to mention all the side adventures and the fact that there are 30 more shines in this game.

I loved this quest actually
This quest never bothered me, to the best of my memory. It felt rewarding when I finally got around to doing it.
I think it was a good quest. The heart/stamina vessel reward was lame because it was a long quest. I think the real reward was pointing you towards the area to unlock auto build.

I thought it was a little fun and sameee
A call from the dephts was a cool quest actually...
It’s so much fun playing this game but I know I’ll never 100% it because I’ll be damned if I’m finding all the Koroks.
Same thing I decided in breath of the wild. I will do every quest, find every shrine and visit every location. But the hundred or so koroks I have is all I will be getting. 1000 of them?? Shameful
Y'all two get it!
Imagine getting a extra layer of poop
The worst part? After my 1000th korok, I needed 2 weeks to find all map places to get 100%!
Unless you're stuck in a hospital or in quarantine lockdown. Just sayin'.

I actually really liked #9. It motivated me to explore Gerudo canyon when I might’ve just passed by a bunch of stuff.

Personally, I loved disaster in Gerudo Canyon because I found it fun to explore the canyon and find new caves.

Oh and trying to get the trotter band up the hill to one of the fairies at the top by rebuilding their wagon
Bruh “The Yiga Clan Exam” literally give you an entire shrine personally I think its worth it
For the sasan quest I just used a hover stone and attached the boat on it, then lifted him up and used ultra hand to move him across.
Doesn't Ultra hand have a limited range?
That's a pretty good idea!
Not a side quest but one of the koroks in the west area is a teleporting one that you have to chase around a FLAME GLEEOK
Flame gleeok are that not bad
@@wannajuanna8258 they are if you are not prepared or early in game

I think I just built a campfire for the Endurance Tests and skipping ahead in time. The other guy automatically loses. Easy and done.
Say what you will about the “call from the depth” quest, it does give you a cool stone eye to decorate your Zonai builds with!
Yiga isn't so bad, you do need a Boss fight vs a lumi Talus unless you are fast.
wait, you had to? i just saw them and was like "oh cool, a luminous talus!" and killed it.

You can just make a campfire during the endurance test…
your vids are great and i love botw and totk so it makes them even better :)
The crystal quest in Tarrey Town isn't that hard.

I actually liked some of these quests
here's why the fetch quest was annoying to me I grabbed a few poos on the way and shit restarted so I saved and left
Bad sure, but not as bad a grinding lizafo tails to upgrade armor 😱
No mention of the build copies of the champions' weapons quests? Also nothing but find some materials, even if diamond mining isn't as easy.
I never found the start to the bottled help. I just randomly stumbled across the cave in my exploration.
I really liked "a call from the depths". I wasn't sure what I was doing, I mean, who the fuck am I helping, am I helping the bad guy? I felt intrigued from the begging. It was a little tedious sometimes, but it really paid off
I hope to get TOTK soon but honestly it’s nice knowing BOTW Quests are way worse
It’s all just a bunch of bland and generic shit I’ve heard TOTK is way better
BotW has a few gems... Like the bard quests.
The yoga clan exam gives you the thunder helm and the earthquake technique so the rewards are worth
That's a different quest then the video is referring to.
I did a quest last night in gerudo desert where I literally had to wait an entire night standing on a slab of rock for 50 rupees. Then like a sucker I stood on the rock for an entire day and got 300 rupees. Wth was that!?

Rado’s endurance test can be made faster by building a campfire and sitting through til morning.

Cool Video.
I havent done any of these quests lol. Havent even heard of most of them before now
Hot take : there’s no bad side quests in totk, but for the sake of a list these are the “worst”
I think the one I hate most is killing every single boss enemy for simple metals, like in Breath of the Wild.
Bro i loved all these quests lol
Top 10 ideas for Tears of the Kingdom dlc if the developers haven’t cancelled their DLC plans please!
there will be no TOTK DLC.
Trash opinion on the last one, I love that quest lol.
The only quest I found annoying was the goron moon quest the rest were relatively easy and actually fun
How about any Crystal escort quest as #10
Trying to find an animal to ride that is not a horse…so annoying
All these are enjoyable to me
Nah the flint one and buying the stone can bite one. The rest were ok. I would actually throw all the stable picture ones on this list. They are either too obvious or way too obscure.
Minor Spoiler:
The reward for finding all lightroots is disappointing
I already felt real bitter towards Sasan for being a groomer but this sidequest absolutely made me want to drown him.

Finley is probably like 40 years old lol so if anything Sasan is too young for her. You see, zoras age very slowly
Or like 30 idk 🤷 mipha was like 50 or 60
Getting the Great Fairies was way more annoying than in BOTW.
the only quest i hated in this list is the sasan one.. I HATE SASAN ABD FINLEY
You get your rupees back tho 😅
I did “Disaster in Gerudo Canyon” by accident in my first play through. They were all there when I got to Quince for the first time.
I REVILE the koroks
You’re really gonna complain about a 50 rupee charge? 😂
hated having to ride a deer back to that one Stable worker.
These are dumb , your complaining about exploring I just randomly found these by accident , just explore the world
you are simply incorrect about a call from the depths
The entire story mode is a bit short compared to Breath of the Wild.
Wth!!! Totk’s story waaay bigger this is just plain wrong

The majority of both botw and totk isn't the scripted story, it's the free exploration.
I think this game is overrated
I clicked on this video not paying attention to the channel. I hate mojo.
