Yes and look up external locus of control, if you’re healthy, you have an internal locus of control and don’t blame others for how you feel

For real! It can totally be life-changing. Just think about how freeing it is to let go of those heavy feelings. It opens up so many opportunities for positivity and growth.

I love the way Mel puts all her ideas and thoughts in a simple and easy way to understand. Her new book is a modern version of Stoicism. Great message to start a new year. Keep up all your great work Mel.

My heart is literally beating at a very elevated yet pleasant rate...I'm not even finished the podcast(around min. 43)and I've had the most profound shift in understanding the Power I have and have always had...thank you both! A challenging year last year with huge shifts and changes in my life but THIS made me finally realized how much Power I was giving others over ME. I had already started walking away from toxic dynamics and setting boundaries but this frames all that differently. Not to mention I WAS having a REALLY lousy day in Montreal before clicking on this. Again, Thank You Mel and Jay.

I admire people like Mel and Jay who are so passionate about helping others by sharing their stories and ideas that I’ve decided to strive to become more like them myself. I used to be someone filled with fear and anxiety, but people like Mel, Jay, and others (Tony Robbins, Jamie Kern Lima, Ed Mylett, to name a few) have helped me to become a person who is filled with love for others, free from the fears and anxieties I once had. Thank you so much! I love you, and I will continue to share my own stories and your ideas to help others grow.

Mel, I'm so glad you brought up "the money for everything" line Jay said. What a clever way to look at your personal worth and then where to invest, solely on what is best for you.
Your gem Mel, let them be disappointed. Its a compliment you can hold onto when youre sad about the situation. You flipped, what could be a stressful situation, into a positive one! Wow, that total scenario got turned on its ass! Brilliant. I think this is the most insightful and coherent podcast I've ever watched. You two work off eachother well. Thx for stimulating my brain for a change, refreshing.

Thank both of you! ❤❤ "Let them" is a mindful sttategy! When you "let them", it totally removes the urge from the other part to fight against you. You know, if you insist or try to get something, the other part (if is in the mood) creates the opposition or resistance towards your hopes, but if you vibration tells: "Let you..." there is nothing that the other part can resist or oppose. Hopefully I made my point.

This is awesome stuff here! Something that is sticking with me... I think it can be tricky, managing that "superior" feeling without letting it get to your head and/or effect the ego's perception, ya know? Perhaps the goal is moreso "Let them" because I gotta stay focused on my climb & the love ahead versus aiming for that feeling of being of a higher status, rank or quality which I'm afraid is usually short lived, anyway.

I have a unique situation where my husband and I have built a small home in an expat community in Mexico where we spend winters. The majority of my neighbors are alcoholics and drug abusers. They prioritize partying over all else. Fine, I can’t control that. The issue is that these people come to my house daily and are intoxicated and want us to party with them. No amount of gates, locks, and very straight forward verbally set boundaries seem to discourage them. It’s gotten to the point where I get major anxiety thinking about being in this environment. Bracing myself for these encounters. In addition to anxiety I have guilt because we worked so hard for so long to manifest this dream that has become a nightmare. Ive basically spent a billion dollars worrying about all the village idiots 😫

I would love to be able to do that! I moved a lot with my husband’s job. Now he’s passed away I’d love to contact old friends however lost all phone numbers or addresses (which they probably don’t have any more) so no way to contact. Younger ppl like you have that just txt them ability cause you’re born with an iPhone but older folks are lost. Life’s not easy. Thanks anyway

Just always remember that when it comes to the important things in life, no one knows any more than you do. We all have a tendency to think everyone knows more than us or their opinion is more powerful than our own.
We're all just winging it in life so why should anyone's opinion matter more than your own if they don't know any more than you do. In many cases, they even know less than you. Let them do what they think is best for them while you do what is best for you.
For some people, this stems from religion where they have to ask an idol, a god or a prophet for permission to live their own lives. They are used to giving their own power away to something outside of themselves other than looking within themselves for their own answers. They are taught they will be punished or they are sinners if they believe in themselves and their own instincts. It's not selfish or narcissistic to have control of your own life!
