Celibidache's versions are probably the best outhere. He was so natural in getting the music
this version is a true adventure, listen to presence, listen to a world being created to your ears !

I’ve heard the 2nd Movement many times, but not like this, I’m used to the pounding crescendo, but this was more sublime. It backed off the crescendo and allowed you to hear the strings. I’m converted.
che pizza quelli che dicono che è troppo lento! che problema c'è? vadano ad ascoltarsi qualcuno che la fa più veloce :) ma questa resta una versione incantevole perchè ogni nota scintilla e l'anima si i nfiamma proprio perchè l'impeto è talvolta un po' frenato , ma poi quando si scioglie è un paradiso ma misterioso e di grande carattere. Un mondo nuovo :)

Fantastic concert ! I really prefer it to the Munich version . By far the best 2d mvt I have ever heard.
HOW lucky we are to have had in this Symphony BOTH Celibidache and Kleiber ....both just as valid and beautiful as the other,each in his own way!

The performance of Celibidache is very elegant, it is wonderful.

The slow tempi of Chelibidache seem to me perfectly justified. They allow an accumulation of enery which explodes with more power, and allow also instrumentists to better articulate the details of their score. I can understand those who love this symphony played fast, but this has always disturbed me (except for the finale, needless to say). The interpretation of the trios in the scherzo third movement) as well as the introduction to the first movement seem me particularly convincing.

He escuchado esta sinfonía muchas veces a grandes como Kleiber, Furtwangler... Pero, para mí el tempo que imprime Celibidache, su sensibilidad, delicadeza tímbrica y respeto al autor, dispara la calidad de la obra a lo sublime.
Majestuosamente lento, tratando.la partitura de forma cameristica para que todod los músicos oigan a sus compañeros y no.los doblen.

In general I find Celibidaches work with stuttgart to have a certain ‘tightness’/containment - in a good way - to it that’s not in the Munich works.
Opino que no debería asociarse necesariamente danza con velocidad. Hay ballet y danzas que son o tienen pasajes lentos y con gran sentido dramático y musical, Adhiero cien por ciento a esta versión de Celi. Permite apreciar musicalmente aspectos que habitualmente pasan inadvertidos en versiones o interpretaciones conocidas.
No se debe asociar danza con velocidad ni tampoco con fuerza,el propio Celebidache lo explicaba muy bien.Ahora bien,es la decantación hacia lo puramente teórico-abstracto lo que hace de este Beethoven alla Celebidache menos convincente.Es está interpretación- algo qué tanto reclamaba Celebidache para el arte- omnicomprensiva?:No!.. Disfrutable?:Mucho.Probablente Beethoven es,por su propia naturaleza musical,uno de los compositores que peor responde a los métodos de análisis del último Celebidache.Disecciona y desmaterializa.En Bruckner o Ravel esto funciona,en Beethoven demiurgo y Prometeo( más allá de tópicos románticos),perdermos el cuerpo, y el alma, queda casi incompleta:Beethoven como un alquimista musical sin fricciones.

@@lpagano77 You know, Silvanus (if it is you real name), you're probably the tenth guy I see on TH-cam and that I discuss with, who thinks he's intelligent and subversive in his criticism of great composers. It's always the same thing: you're all some Mr. Nobody and your arrogance is proportional to your lack of knowledge. Beethoven is not my favourite composer, not even in my "top 3". But denying that he's got the highest importance in music along with Bach is simply ridiculous. He was one of the most skilled composers in history, in harmony, counterpoint, form/structure and orchestration, visionnary in his conception of sounds (especially on piano with his special pedals). But everybody knows it... To say that this or this piece is boring or silly doesn't lead anywhere ; to what extent is it so? Can't you detail your thoughts, analyse it maybe with the tools that we have, rather than saying "its boring, it's annoying"? I have dozens of examples of much more relevant people who say the opposite on the moonlight and the 7th symphony (pianists and conductors of the highest class). It's the lack of humility and respect in your criticism (you being all the haters of your type) that makes me angry... But, I mean, you know that your opinion wont change anything at all, that's maybe why we hear so much hatred and disrespect in your comments.
"Talented and composed some fine music" well, that's a big euphemism! This kind of comment is apropriate for Hummel, Clementi or Galuppi, but not for Beethoven x)
And I say it again: I dont like some pieces of Beethoven, I also think that he's got some weaknesses, but my god! Who the hell am I to say that he's not great? I'm currently working on his op. 101, and only a composer of this level could have written it. You never talk about his qualities, which are enormous without question. But... Just continue if you want, I tell you: your opinion doesn't change anything and people will love and play his music till the end of times.
@@lpagano77 I take note of what you say here. But a problem still remains: how can you say that Beethoven would have change many of his pieces? It is a great minsunderstanding of composition. Go deeper if you think so, but I can tell you that you are wrong: he wasn't concerned about changing his works, he was only thinking of the new ones. And I didn't say that he was beyond reproach. But how could one reproach something to a composer? That he wasn't perfect? I mean it's your way of thinking which is silly, I'm sorry. Everything you say is purely subjective, if you have no facts about the weakness of such composition, I'm not interested. But even then... I hate Chopin's fantaisie-impromptu, he knew himself that it wasn't a great piece, but what then? Should I wait of him to write only masterpieces, as he usually did? Who did? No one. Not Mozart, not Bach. Ok, that's enough for me. Goodbye, you have an interesting point of view but express it too spontaneously and with not enough concrete elements. Everybody has his subjectivity, it's not interesting, what we want, for progressing, are facts.

Right at the middle of the 1st Movement the music stopped and a message appeared on my screen asking me whether I wished to continue listening. Can you imagine, some maroon is actually paid to come up with these sorts of ideas!

Pour moi dans cette symphonie c'est Celibidache ou personne.
Enfin quelqu'un qui a compris que pour exprimer la joie inutile de foncer.
Vous avez à moitié raison. C'est également ma version préférée, mais on peut comprendre ceux qui aiment cette symphonie exécutée plus rapidement. La version Karajan par exemple ou la vieille version Furtwaengler ne sont pas à négliger.
And in Dvorak 9th- Prokofiev 1st- Tchaikovsky 5th- Bruckner 4th and so on. Celibidache est le plus grand!!!!!!
IL faut tout de même prêter attention à Furtwaengler et Toscanini, et plus près de nous à Karajan et Bohm pour certains compositeurs.
Immense maestro...pour moi : le plus grand aussi...et, un excellent professeur; mais j'ai vu cette même oeuvre dirigée par Gustavo Dudamel....même fougue...même passion et un entrain communicatif....
El arte no es un deporte, su fuerza no proviene de la velocidad del gesto, si no de la intensidad de su dinámica interna. Confundir la intensidad y el brio con la velocidad es no entender nada de todo lo que es capaz el arte.

Celibidaches view of music was that emotion wasn’t the goal, rather the experience of the music itself (movement). Therefor emotion should not compromise the music and its inner life
@@1celibidache224 I agree. Beethoven's 7th is pure music and not a descriptive one. However an emotion is appearing from rythm, pulsation and repetition that are together like a true epic tale. Tempo must be choosen to lead this emotion to paroxysm and it is'nt the case for me here.

Wagner llamó a esta sinfonía, La Apoteosis de la Danza. Esta versión debería ser la Apoteosis del Bostezo.
Por favor, se trata del sentido general, algo puede ser muy alegre y lento a la vez. La danza no siempre es rápida.

Tiempos demasiado lentos para el carácter tan alegre de esta obra; francamente decepcionante...
Parecería que usted es divertido.
Raúl López estoy de acuerdo, me quedo con la de Carlos Kleiber . La de Kleiber me parece infinitamente mejor que esta. Esta tendencia de Celidibache de alargar tanto los tiempos no me termina de convencer.
Pero eso caràcter no es solo en los tiempos, es en la calidad del sono tambien...
Curiosamente, las personas que asistían en vivo a los conciertos de Celibidache quedaban impactadas por la belleza resultante. Acerca de esto el mismo Celibidache repitió hasta el cansancio que las grabaciones no tenían nada qué ver con la música. Una grabación aunque sea en vivo no es la realidad, es como tratar de conocer a una persona a través de una foto o un video, no lo puedes ver , interactuar, oler etc. A parte, la acústica del lugar no se ve reflejada en las grabaciones; imagínate: ¿cuántos micrófonos grabaron esto? ¿cuántos micrófonos para cuántos instrumentos? En una situación real de concierto cada instrumento cuenta ya que forman una masa sonora y distintas masas se mueven a distinto tempo considerando también la acústica. Los micrófonos no escuchan como el oído humano y su material no es como nuestros órganos, ahora bien, esos micrófonos recogen algo que se va a una consola o un aparato de este tipo, después a algún medio como un CD o por aquí por TH-cam y luego tú lo reproduces en una computadora, tablet o celular en tu coche, en tu recámara o en tu cocina, entonces ¿cuánto de aquella realidad única e irrepetible escuchas? Muy poco o casi nada. La grabación es solamente un documento. Yo me quedo con su filosofía, o con anácdotas como la del violista de la Filarmónica de Berlín Helmuth Nicolai quien, insatisfecho por la forma de hacer música de Karajan elige emigrar de la mejor orquesta del planeta para pasarse con Celibidache o la de las personas comunes que cambiaron su lugar de residencia a Munich para poder asistir a sus conciertos. Me quedo con los testimonios como el del crítico del NY Times John Rockwell que escribió acerca del único concierto de Celibidache en E.U. "The result was about as revelatory an experience, both thrilling and thought-provoking, as this writer has encountered in 25 years of regular concert-going." Pero principalmente e quedo con las ganas de haber experimentado en vivo uno de sus conciertos.
