I think I found a permanent fix to the bluetooth issue (do let me know if it works as I'm planning to get this mouse): In the terminal run this command : `sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.bt.plist bluetoothCoexMgmt Hybrid` - without ' The command will modify preference settings to Bluetooth coexistence management using the hybrid value. It basically should improve the coexistence between Bluetooth and other wireless devices. Found this from a reddit post, would post link if I could but this comment would get deleted.
I honestly feel like Apple has to do with like 80% of these issues. I tried using my razer viper mini on my macbook pro 2021 and the experience was horrible, mostly because of apples awful acceleration settings and lack of button support. Linear mouse did fix the majority of issues but it was still sucked just trying to get a regular mouse to work.
Nah, I use it on PC and I agree with almost all of these issues, and even a few more. To me, the scroll wheel is way too sensitive, and the way it's designed, your finger rests next to so there are constant "accidental" scrolls. The gesture button is a head-scratcher. They chose the most difficult button to press on the heaviest mouse in existence to use as a "gesture" button, which forces you to slide the mouse while only holding it with the center of your thumb. Makes no sense. It also doesn't have tilt scroll, which my last four mice had. And, no, the horizontal scroll wheel is not a suitable replacement because tilting is a button click, not a scroll. They also put the button to switch PCs on the bottom, unlike other Logitech mice, where you can easily switch without picking up the mouse, and the 3S forces you to use the Bolt dongle and will not work with the Unifying receiver (in which I have over a dozen Logitech products I use with it). It also forces you to use the newest version of its software (Options+), which has some features removed from the previous version. And, to top all of this off, it's $100. It would be a nice mouse for $40, but at $100, it's kind of a ripoff.
@@JackFate76 tell me youve never used a non apple mouse without telling me youve never used a non apple mouse. If youve used literally any mouse other than the shitass magic mouse you would be able to give a better opinion.
Pretty much, yeah. I often use a second-hand Steelseries Aerox 9 but man, my biggest gripe on macos is how jittery and nasty it feels to scroll with it. The mouse works fine on my desktop windows pc. Scrolling is fine and accurate, Bluetooth connects right away, etc. My Macbook just doesn't like foreign mice ig
I got the mouse in black so I avoided the yellow tinting and otherwise I only have some issues on my macbook, on my pc it works fine, but that's more of an issue with MacOS and how it works with mice. Also, I think you really need to have a specific grip and "average" hand size for the mouse to be comfortable, for me I am now feeling a lot less pain working with my mouse.
This product is over hyped... The materials alone make it a bad choice, and the magnetic wheel is a useless gimmick... So any mouse at one third of the price will cover the same functions
Dear Bog, thank you for this video. I am *trying* to use logitech mx master series for a long time as a content creator from Turkey. I bought all the 3 models. But using it with bluetooth... not much possible. I am constantly using it with USB dongle. Even the USB Dongle is not working properly sometimes. So the solution I found is, I bought a USB extender as male and female, put is a spesific distance away from my computer, and then pluging the receiver. That is how I sold the problem for good. Thank you for your effort.
I got the MX Master 3 (loudy clicky one), it's not too bad... But if u wanna buy this mouse, get the non mac version. It literally has no difference apart from its colour and with a unifying/bolt receiver included for no price difference :)
Did the same thing since the white version was out of the question after I saw how horrible Ali Abdaal's example looks. YUCK, don't google it. Pretty happy with for the most parts, but I did notice that the dongle doesn't like being behind my monitor or under the desk. Makes the cursor stutter/teleport. Feels kind of pointless to have a wireless version where the dongle has to be 20 cm away from the mouse with line of sight. I'll need to try another USB-C to -A adapter to see if that fixes it.
I have a black MX Master 3 (not S and not Mac version but the regular version with the unifying receiver), I purposely did not buy the gray version because I was worried it would get dirty, especially because it has a rubbery texture. I have a M1 MacBook Air and a PC, I had a laggy scrolling issue with it on the Mac that I solved with installing the MOS app, but before finding it, it was indeed a nightmare. Fingers crossed, I haven't had issues ever since.
Im impressed by how wrong everything went for you. I'm a graphic designer, got it for a while now and all I can say its the best I've ever used. Allow me to break down every point from my experience: 1. I didn't install any custom apps or changed any settings in mac, it just works perfectly. No lags, no freezes, no issues with BT. Steady flawless work. 2. The scroll wheel is the best I've used so far, magnets doing their thing perfectly, it scrolls the same in all apps as it should. 3. I've tried to simulate your scrolling actions and couldn't get the same result. 4. Agree here, the scroll button is not silent but I generally use it rarely. 5. Color, yes, I picked the black one because it is obvious the white will get dirty, as everything in life, lol. Nice matching with a silver MacBook though! 6. Battery. Just checked, I’ve used 20% of battery in over 2 weeks. The battery charges slowly, while you CAN use it plugged, crazy. 7. The horizontal scrolling is great in work, the resistance is just right for not accidentaly scrolling it. 8. I’ve also experienced some numb hand when using it, but that was because of table-chair positioning, not the mouse lol. My overall advice, get the “non-mac” version, it has the same functionality but comes with a USB dongle, which offers better polling rate (I get 140Hz) when using it, in case you need gaming or something more accurate. I definitely recommend it to anyone, just give it a try for a few days and you will see the beauty of it. Thanks for the video and best of luck!
This is a gem of a video, FINALLY some review worth watching. All other TH-camrs make videos that are saying nothing they just review the product as it was marketed but you, you dug deep to what really counts. I was deciding between MX and magic mouse and now I'm definitely buying the magic mouse and it's because of your video. Thank you Bog
At first I thought you were not a simp fanboy, but the conclusion is a shame: buying a magic mouse. C'mon that fking mouse is the sh. itty. est mouse ever and is as expensive as mx master. Better stick to a Logitech m280 or any other mouse
It sounds as though the main gripes are with Mac OS connectivity issues. I do find it baffling that Mac users have to buy exactly the same mouse (bar the colour )without out a unifying receiver, nuts! Also, a surprise is that for PC users, we get a non USB C dongle in the age where everything new is going USB C. Other than that, I have to disagree with you on the Mag scroll wheel, it is by far the USP of the mouse. The MX anywhere is too small for daily use, and this is the only other mouse that has mag scrolling (I think).
Agreed to everything you said, I’ve used all mx mice since s2. These issues exist. And for my mac i have a worst one, every while the custom shortcuts stop working so i have yo kill the options process to make it work again, very frustrating and non existent in a 30$ mouse.
This is an extremely unbiased and really "real world use" review. I have had all of these similar issues and the most of which that annoys me is the really low polling rate of the mouse that just makes it feel a tiny bit sluggish and behind my hand movements. Overall I switched by to my gaming mouse on my mac because it was lighter and felt a lot more accurate. Also no more bluetooth issues.
yeah i remember the polling rate on my friend's mx master being an issue, he has a laptop with a 240hz screen but moving the cursor around with the mouse feels like as if the screen is like 60hz or something lmao
I don't have the yellow that you have nor do I have most of the issues you've mentioned, aside from how stiff the click is on the scroll wheel and how difficult it is to use the thumb rest button. I'm not sure if you have a lemon or something but I can fps and do everything just fine. It's just heavier than my g502 x plus for gaming is all but it feels very solid and premium in the hand.
- The Bluetooth problem sounds like a Mac issue, which I hope it got solved over time. As you say there does not seem to be issues on Windows, and I have been using this mouse in Linux (with the dongle though) and I have zero lag or connectivity issues, even when Linux is the 'less supported' platform out of the three desktop ones. - The mouse wheel click causing a scroll is something that happened to me the first week as well. The wheel has some 'ratchet' mechanism and depending on how you press it, the wheel may move backwards or forward. To be honest, you get used to it and there are certain angles which will never cause this issue, after a couple of days it becomes a mechanic reaction once you find the right position. - The scroll back and forward, it is not the mouse is not registering, the mouse is designed to automatically switch between ratchet and 'fidget toy' mode when you apply a certain ... 'speed' to it? This way, if you want to scroll quickly in either direction, you don't need to press the button to change. If you scroll back and forth at certain speed you are activating the magnets on the 'fidget toy' mode, which causes that sense of not registering because the mouse is expecting to freewheel in a direction and a fraction of a second later you are forcing stop the scroll and changing its direction, over and over. I don't think a real scenario when you need to scroll forward and back several times at speed, but if you do, if you reduce a little bit the speed, you will notice you will feel the 'ratchet' mechanism again and while this is active, it registers reverse scrolling effectively every time I tried it. - On the consistency of the scrolling, I had this in my Linux computer as well. There is an option in the Linux app called 'scroll wheel resolution' which toggles the sensibility of the vertical scroll. I am guessing there is a similar option in the Logi app, and toggling this fixed the issues for me, I hope this turns out useful for you as well. - I use the side scroll wheel for vertical scrolling, I guess depending on the line of work that can be very useful or not 🤷♂ - About the pain, I had that as well the first day I got it 😅I was used to a Logi K400 keyboard with integrated trackpad, so I was not used to have my wrist against a surface the way a regular mouse works, and the first day it did hurt. After some thought, it was the angle and the position I was putting the mouse on the desk, which was causing some pressure on my wrist and my carpal tunnel. Once I found the right position, I haven't had any issues again. I am not saying that is your issue as well, but most of the time ergonomics play a heavy roll on this matter. There are valid things to dislike, like the decolorization of the mouse (sorry to hear that 😬) and the noise of the click wheel, but I think most of it can be worked around with a little of effort or may be a little too nitpicky. I work 8+ hours a day with the MX Keys S and the MX Master 3S and to be honest, relating to the mouse, it has been a very pleasing experience so far.
I don’t know if anything changed with this mouse, but I bought it in September and have had absolutely zero issues with it. They might have made some changes to the firmware or the app, but it has been consistently very useful, stable and responsive. I haven’t gotten around to testing the gaming side of it yet, so my opinion might change. But for my workflow (mostly Figma on Mac), nothing comes even close.
Main problem for me is polling rate. It maxes out at 125hz and so every movement feels delayed and laggy. Once you've used gaming mouses that have 1000+hz polling rate, it's very hard to go back to a 125hz mouse. It's similar to 120hz display vs 60hz display. The "productivity" youtubers who are recommending this mouse has never tried any other more premium mouse, that's why they think this is the best. It's just like Apple iPhone users who only uses iPhones.
I use this.mouse in all black color, which does match my silver MacBook. My wife got the Space gray to match her space gray MacBook. The light gray (white) was never considered, white always gets dirty fast and yellows. As for functionality. It has been nothing short of amazing. I am an IT professional since 1989 and used many mice, high end gaming mice too, this 3s is the BEST all around mouse I have ever used.
Relatable. Cleaning with wet tissue helps a little bit with that yellowing and bluetooth stutters can be fixed by bt module reset in terminal. Overall I think is the best mouse if you are not playing games with it.
Great review! I used it for 14 months until last week when I bought the Rapoo VT9Pro. I found it to be of very good quality, but terribly non-ergonomic. I frequently had to adjust my hand position to prevent tendonitis due to ergonomic issues. I believe it caused strain on my hand for three reasons: it's too tall, too heavy, and the thumb rests on top of the mouse instead of serving as a point of support on the table. I had to make a conscious effort not to click accidentally. While the scroll wheel's ability to rotate freely is great, there were times when I wished for a regular wheel. The side-scrolling wheel is awful and unnotched. I used the dongle so I had no connection problems.
I bought one for productivity reasons, but I also use it for gaming. None of the issues you mentioned were a thing. The mouse is as good for editing excel spreadsheets as it playing CoD or Battlefield. Then again I'm using Windows, so that might explain it. What is an issue though is the insane reliabilty (or lack thereof) Two weeks after the Warranty (which is less than for most Logitech mice) wore off, the mousewheel was stuck in freespin and no amount of software or hardware tampering could get it to work. This appears to be very common. Another two months and the bluetooth simply refused to connect to anything anymore and while I got lucky and did not encouter it, there is also a frequent issue with the mousebuttons simply ceasing to work
I have black one and it stays clean, except for the dust. The main problem is low polling rate - 140 Hz even through the dongle. Totally not playable. And you have to get used to it even when you're not playing, if you just switched from gaming mouse with 1000 Hz rate.
Finally an honest review. I bought it after seeing all the reviews saying it was wonderful and after 30 minutes of use I already regretted getting it. I found the grip very uncomfortable and the pain in my forearm was insane. I don't know if I'd get used to it but I bought it for the ergonomics and to not feel pain, so it makes no sense to use it if it hurts me
Okay, so... the ONLY way I've been able to get rid of mouse lag on Macbook is by using 2.4GHz dongles. I have no idea why... but my Macbook M3 Max just doesn't like bluetooth. But the second I plug in a 2.4GHz dongle mouse, everything becomes buttery smooth. So... I'm 100% convinced that Apple is probably running some secret code to make "their bluetooth" devices work flawlessly but not third party. Lenovo Go mouse is a great option for anyone interested.
MX Master 3 Black - no problems for 2 years. PC-Dongle, two MBPs - BT. Best experience for productivity. Playing BG3- also ok. Even play FPS, but want G pro for that )
I got this mouse recently and I also had a pain in hands after using it for some time, however I think it is because of the holding with claw grip or similar, once I started holding it with more firm grip without keeping gap between mouse and palm then it became easy to operate and I did not find any pain. Even though I have smaller hands I still like the way it works. I'm loving it a lot.
3:38 I don’t understand why they even sell a white one, I’m glad I got the black one & I love it. My favorite part about its shape is that I can hold it with a 3 finger grip comfortably, index on left click, middle on scroll wheel & ring on right click, I know I’m one of the only people who holds a mouse like this but I find it to be quicker when I don’t have to move my finger over to the scroll wheel
I had one of this and I can confirm, it is overrated. They advertise the wheel as being something life changer but as you said, it's HORRIBLE. You expect it to be as responsive as a trackpad but you can't control it precisely. So you have to only use the normal mode, which is the same as any other productivity mouse. The fact that it has a low polling rate (125hz) is also very bad, specially when used with a high fps monitor, like 165hz or higher.
I would rather recommend a gaming mouse. it have like 5 buttons with G-Shift. its craze. I can use my gaming mouse for switching between desktops and forward/backing in browser tabs. I have also setup menu where with my Mac and it's really just useful. highly recommend it if bluetooth is not a must. unfortunately its likely to be 🙂
Finally, someone is out there just like me who is having the exact problems with this mouse. Randomly the left click requires extra and extreme pressure to make it click. I don't know how to fi this at all. Pain!!
I have the same issue with pain. Did your pain got away eventually? I don't know if I should get used to mouse shape or if pain won't get away, I totally don't want to get a carpal tunnel syndrome. Never had this problem with any mouse or trackpad before
Pain won't go away. I was so happy with this mouse after unboxing. Beautiful, awesome build quality, scroll wheel is amazing. But I just can't use it. My arm is in pain after few minutes, my pinky and ring fingers has nothing to rest on. Its really f-ng small even though my palm is a pretty average size. Nice mice, but not for everyone like everything else in this world)
Wouldn't say they're super sweaty but the yellow came out like immediately. 2-3 days and it was very noticeable. I decided to return the white version and get the black one instead.
Luckily I saw this video before making up my mind on which color to go with so I got the Graphite instead. I still remember the first laser mouse more than a decade ago - the laser MX1000. It was comfortable to use but I wouldn't call it a gaming mouse. I bought the MX 3S primarily as a 'work'/web browsing mouse where egonomics mattered more than speed/accuracy, with the added bonus of having intuitive horizontal/vertical scrolling and especially the longer battery life. My wireless Logitec 502 Lightspeed's battery life was really atrocious so I use it primarily for short burst of gaming before plugging in to recharge. I'm banking on the MX 3S to provide prolonged usage without the need to constantly recharge it since it will be used primarily for web browsing and work.
i got the 3 s for mac and i`m satisfied. it has an smooth scrollwheel option in the logi app and it scrolls very nice and smooth nearly as on the magic mouse.
now you see why people dont like using macs.... most external 3rd party hardware doesn't work right with macs. Bet all those problems are fine with Windows.
after several months of use, my arm ruined, i can hardly work,it can not be related to productivity,it ruined productivity, now i have to switch to lighter ones,
Same mouse here. Doing everyday tasks and work feel like a breeze, but I don't get the same problems that you do when gaming. Did you have it on dongle when you played a game?
I had it on Bluetooth. Non-FPS games are great of course because they don't require a high pooling rate but competitive shooters are a problem. Of course, this mouse is not designed for gaming I just tried it out for fun xd.
Holy shit, never thought I'd come across a video like this, I agree with most points here. Also one thing I HATE that no one mentions about this mouse is the way to press the gesture button is extremely unnatural. No one uses a thumb to press a button sideways, a thumb always goes inwards to a palm, but this mouse has the gestures that makes the user press the button with a thumb sideways. Great review otherwise also.
Great for reading documents because of the awesome mouse wheel. Although, there are things that a normal mouse wheel does better too, like zooming in CAD-work for example. (Several quick bursts being much better than one unresponsive/unaccurate "send" with the free-scroll, from which you don't know where you'll end up.) And as a pointing device it is indeed simply: Crap. I have degraded mine to "laptop mouse" in favour of my Steelseries Prime Wireless. That thing I can send to the other end of my ultrawide with an effortless swing, or maybe two with a lift in the middle. And I don't even have to think about lifting it up and placing it down elsewhere to adjust pointer position vs. hand position, it just happens. Lifting up and adjusting, or even just flicking around the MX, is clunky, slow and cumbersome due to the weight. The sensor is unaccurate, and what's more, the shape isn't actually ergonomic compared to a classic EC2 ergo shape. I got wrist-pain from it when doing hours of CAD work a day. I don't get that any more with the Prime. That's a completely different (and much better) experience than it was using the MX Master. I just didn't realize the grass was greener on the "gaming mouse side", because the MX Master was such a "premium" hyped up product
It is incredible that a good mouse starts from Rs 500 and goes till Rs 10000 and there is no real justification to get one over another. (if you are not gaming)
Bluetooth will always have more latency than 2.4 ghz when it comes to mice and keyboards. If you think it’s the other way around, you will be always disappointed.
I have the regular mx master 3 in silver color and on windows it has literally none of these issues except 1, which is the issue if you scroll up and down too fast it doesn't register properly. This is really a non issue for me since i never have to scroll like that. The mouse has been amazing for over a year and is actually ergonomic. Also, I don't experience any lag issues. I think your problem is your mac more than the mouse.
One of the absolute worst things about this mouse is the scrolling! I absolutely hate it. Makes me want to throw the mouse away. Like you said, scrolling in some apps/website, it barely scrolls! I tried doing so many things so that I could scroll a greater distance with one scroll (with smartshift on) but still the experience is soo bad! But then if you switch to free spin the problem is kind of solved but then you can't stop at the position you want because the scroll wheel moves by itself (because of it's weight). It is an infuriating issue to have. All the features and everything is great and all and I do appreciate it for it, but if it's failing at the basic things, then it's hard to stick to it. On a side note I wish Macs had the option to set how many lines would be covered with one scroll flick like in Windows. And as a designer I am not finding much use for it. It doesn't increase my productivity that much. Maybe if I was a video editor it would have helped me.
For me the worst of all would be the low polling rate. It makes the mouse cursor feels really choppy in regular screens but unusable in higher refresh rate monitors.
The scroll wheel is terrible! There are so many positive reviews about this mouse out there, I think half of it is biased and the other half just got into the hype of the biased ones. The scroll responsiveness is so weird that I thought I had a faulty unit and replaced it. The replacement is just like the first one.
Same here. It worked great on Windows but after switching to Mac this mouse is frustratingly inaccurate on pointer tracking and scrolling. Were you able to find a mouse that works better with mac?
I have the same mouse and a 14" M1 Macbook pro and I don't have any of those issues. My only complaint is the scroll wheel. It's not smooth for some reason.
I agree with everything: wrist pain, not comfortable. The scroll is horrible, and my hand was sweeting all the time. Had it for two days. I will try a gaming mouse maybe.
Before switching to another mouse, I'd recommend giving this one a bit more time.. I also didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.. Have a video on the topic, check it out if you're interested
hey I also have Bluetooth problems on my MacBook Pro m1 16 inch, but not only with that mouse but also with the Magic Mouse, did you find any solution?
I didn't find it. I usually just keep restarting the bluetooth module via terminal or turning off my mouse and turning it back on again. That usually fixes the issue for a little while.
@@bogxd Do you use the logitech dongle? That should solve the problem, but it's disappointing that such an expensive laptop has that bluetooth problem. and thanks for answering my comment!
I have the same issues with the scrolling you are describing. After trying multiple mice, I noticed every other brand that has a tailored feature is kinly useless on iOS platforms. I think the intention is to go with the Magic Mouse. So I got one... and what a waste and what a headache. Since I have a Mac my anxiety increased by 200% Current Setup: 1x Mac and 1x Windows.
Most of the issues -> OSX not Logitech !!! Maybe the user is too lazy to read some /r to get the stuff work! If you dont want a yellow mouse, dont buy a white one, even with clean hands, every white plastic will become yellow from the sweat.
cons > pro + my normal dell mouse (usb though) works just fine.. so even if I had all the money in the world to buy the one you reviewed or the one i saw in dave2d's video, i would still stick with my dell mouse ....
First of all I think that some that don't mention this problems are due to the fact that most people aren't facing this issue. I am using a Windows and yes the latency only happens when I do use a bluetooth keyboard with the bluetooth mouse. I'm using a dongle and nothing bad is happening during usage with the dongle. it even registers the movement when on sleep mode. Only issue I found is that the mouse ratchet mode may have some problem with the ratchet mechanism overshooting causing you to open the mouse to fix a simple issue. just pressing something down fix it. easy fix nothing much there. but the torx screw is sure annoying to buy it.
I have this mouse in black… and use it on pc… I have to say… that the Mx master 3 is the best mouse I ever use… sure I don’t play games I use it for work…and I never have any issue with this mouse and the battery duration is something incredible I don’t know what kind of black magic uses Logitech but his batteries goes for more than a month without recharging… for me it’s the best mouse this one and the Logitech Mx vertical are the best mouse I ever have
About that sensor tracking and vertical scroll thingg, i think it's related to OS thing.... Yea, i have same issues on MAC (bassically i couldnt game ANY FPS game with this mouse on mac), but then, when i tried it on windows, and played Doom Ethernal on 300dpi (15% sensitivity i think) and i dont have any issues, it tracks well.... and vertical scroll wheel behave exactly the same across all apps on windows... not on mac.....
I like the honesty but these issues are rather strange. I dont have these issues on my Mac with my own Mx Master 3s. I will say that using the LogiOptions+ software is helpful with the sensitivity of scroll wheel, shortcut actions, DPS settings, etc etc. Also why do people complain about Apples pointer acceleration? I actually really like it. It slows down when you make slight movements to give you finer control. I don’t understand what the problem people have with it. Can someone explain lol.
1. No onboard memory. 2. No place to put the USB dongle inside the mouse. 3. Need to use Logitech software to control DPI 4. NO DPI switch on mouse. This is way overpriced for what it does.
I have the MX Anywhere 3s and I think it has the same scroll wheel and Bluetooth tech and this is the best mouse I have ever used (other than when I'm gaming) I love the scroll wheel so much as it makes it super easy to scroll really really fast and far by just flicking it and this is the best Bluetooth I have ever used, there is no delay and it connects faster than I can set it down after turning the mouse on. I do use Windows though
The infinite scroll is not a gimmick, once you get used to it, and especially if you do a lot of scrolling. I can never ever work again with a normal mouse wheel... Plus, a scenario where you just go up and down repeatedly and fast is just so unrealistic and this issue for me is a non-issue... I currently have the G903 and mx anywhere 3 and I just tested this with both. It does exactly as you described in both of them, ends up scrolling down slowly. Yet I only encountered this issue just now by trying to replicate it and I have been daily driving logitech infinite scroll for 6 years now.
Dude, THANK YOU. I felt like I was alone in seeing this as the most overrated mouse ever. It doesn't suck entirely. It has some obvious positives. But OVERALL, for such a highly touted product, it is an infuriating, poor quality, unpolished, somehow close-to-good-but-also-just-terrible, pain in the arse of a peripheral. It's like they got half way through prototyping and went, "that'll do, let's make a billion of these things and gaslight everyone into thinking it's awesome!". The middle click is infuriating. Imagine trying to use this thing for CAD, where you middle click to control the camera. Every single button feels different, and every single button is positioned just slightly off from where it should be, like they're trying to trick you into thinking you're just pressing it wrong. Just, I shouldn't hate it as much as I do, but I hate that such a terrible product is so universally praised. The MX Master 3 belongs in the bin.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 🎮 The MX Master 3S mouse has a Bluetooth lag issue upon connecting, which can be resolved by restarting the Bluetooth module. 00:40 👍 The gesture button on the mouse is present but requires precise thumb placement, which can be challenging. 01:19 🖱️ The scroll wheel, while praised for its quality, has drawbacks like accidental scrolling and loud noise. It may not be practical for all users. 02:33 🔄 The mouse has good features, including device switching and a premium feel, but it is not suitable for FPS gaming due to tracking issues. 03:26 🌕 The white version of the mouse may develop yellow tinting on the surface quickly, which can be hard to clean and maintain. 04:36 🔋 The battery life of the MX Master 3S is impressive, with only a 15% drain in 6 days of use. 05:05 💼 Some users may experience discomfort or pain, especially in the wrist and forearm, after extended use of the mouse. Made with HARPA AI
It's amazing how almost all tech reviewers recommend it. It's heavy and polling rate is very low so the overall experience is laggy. On windows, the scroll is good but the scroll is terrible on mac. With apps like mos or mouse fix, it gets better but still not good enough for me. I switched to Razer deathadder essential and haven't looked back since. Worst mouse I've ever bought. Can't believe I wasted $100 on a stupid mouse. Please do yourself a favor by avoiding mx master series.
A lot of these issues are problems with MacOS and iOS - I hate using my MX Master 3S sometimes. With windows it’s pretty good, I bounce between the 2 operating systems a lot. The scroll wheel can eat my whole ass on anything Apple
Oh boy, oh boy. This mouse is absoluetly amazing... on Windows. I did make a move from Windows to the macOS while having this mouse and I can tell you, it's not the mouse. Apple just don't want you to use anything else than their Magic Mouse, so they are throwing little imcompatibilities so your life with this (any) mouse outside of the Apple is little bit more difficult. For the hardware, Bog is just a little girl crying over every little thing. You just can't have better mouse nowadays really
I got two of these in black 2S and the 3 my favorite mices now programmed, to do what the trackpad can do. Hopefully add another button for more options on the next one…
This is the first Logitech product I ever bought so idk. I would guess not because this mouse has a very specific rubbery texture which I doubt most of their other products have.
Yes on m1 macs this thing lags!!!!! The scroll wheel sucks. Maybe on a pc it's better, but on my m1 ultra Mac studio it is lame with Bluetooth and the dongle BOTH!
I would check with support if I was you about the scroll issues, I own 2 of these mice and I can't replicate it (I am on Windows and Linux so it might be that). Thanks for the honest video.
I read inside the Logitech manual that if you scroll back up and SMASH the like button the Bluetooth latency will disappear from your mouse
hahahaha good one.

Did the wrists pain goes away?
Yes, for me it did @@HIHIHJIHIHIH
I think I found a permanent fix to the bluetooth issue (do let me know if it works as I'm planning to get this mouse):
In the terminal run this command :
`sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.bt.plist bluetoothCoexMgmt Hybrid` - without '
The command will modify preference settings to Bluetooth coexistence management using the hybrid value.

Pretty much, yeah. I often use a second-hand Steelseries Aerox 9 but man, my biggest gripe on macos is how jittery and nasty it feels to scroll with it. The mouse works fine on my desktop windows pc.
Yeah the pain went away from me too after a few weeks. I think it was just a matter of getting used to it.

Nice, thanks for sharing your experience!

@osenoqxd_8369yeah but some people think that Final Cut Pro or apple ecosystem is worth it😐
Btw, i use Arch Linux 🤓
I got the MX Master 3 (loudy clicky one), it's not too bad... But if u wanna buy this mouse, get the non mac version. It literally has no difference apart from its colour and with a unifying/bolt receiver included for no price difference :)
Yeah, absolutely, I got the non-mac version too.
I’ve been using the regular 3 for the past 3 years, I don’t have none of these issues and I use a Mac, lately updated with m2 max.
Uuu nice, so maybe it's only on this model 🤔 Do you have the white version?
@@bogxd nope, I have the black version
I have a black MX Master 3 (not S and not Mac version but the regular version with the unifying receiver), I purposely did not buy the gray version because I was worried it would get dirty, especially because it has a rubbery texture. I have a M1 MacBook Air and a PC, I had a laggy scrolling issue with it on the Mac that I solved with installing the MOS app, but before finding it, it was indeed a nightmare. Fingers crossed, I haven't had issues ever since.
@@Afromartian me too! I love this mice!
Im impressed by how wrong everything went for you. I'm a graphic designer, got it for a while now and all I can say its the best I've ever used. Allow me to break down every point from my experience:
At first I thought you were not a simp fanboy, but the conclusion is a shame: buying a magic mouse.

Well, someone thinks hating apple products makes you a better person a proud individual. Good for you
@@NawafRabah Why I should not if some of their products is piece of shit and doesn't cost that money?
Yeah, forgot to mention the custom shortcut part. I also have that. Thanks for watching!
I got the MX Master 3 for my work computer (Windows). Using bluetooth no significant lag - just works.
I don't have the yellow that you have nor do I have most of the issues you've mentioned, aside from how stiff the click is on the scroll wheel and how difficult it is to use the thumb rest button. I'm not sure if you have a lemon or something but I can fps and do everything just fine. It's just heavier than my g502 x plus for gaming is all but it feels very solid and premium in the hand.
as it is 1 year later, any yellowing noticable?
@@rikleferink No yellowing but the oils and dead skin from my hand does stick to it. I can clean it though lol
@@BN99239 wait do you have the black one
- I use the side scroll wheel for vertical scrolling, I guess depending on the line of work that can be very useful or not 🤷♂
- About the pain, I had that as well the first day I got it 😅I was used to a Logi K400 keyboard with integrated trackpad, so I was not used to have my wrist against a surface the way a regular mouse works, and the first day it did hurt.
Subscribed, honesty is rarely seen these days, too many marketers disguised as reviewers.
Relatable.
Cleaning with wet tissue helps a little bit with that yellowing and bluetooth stutters can be fixed by bt module reset in terminal.
Overall I think is the best mouse if you are not playing games with it.
I ended up returning it and getting the black version.

I use the aerox 5 wireless on my mac. It works with bluetooth & i have macro for spaces, cause it has software for mac too.
Agree. I can’t use it with bluetooth. But with dongle it’s much better.
What is an issue though is the insane reliabilty (or lack thereof)
Two weeks after the Warranty (which is less than for most Logitech mice) wore off, the mousewheel was stuck in freespin and no amount of software or hardware tampering could get it to work.
Yeap.. On bluetooth I think it's 90 hz even. So it looks laggy either way if you're on 140 or 120 hz monitor
Had to check that. I have a mouse that can be switched between 125 and 500 and I don’t notice any difference. Puhhh! 👍😄
How do you control this mouse? I'm having pain issues! :(
Love the mx3... haven't experienced any of the same issues but i do use the dongle. Also wouldn't say the mousepad is for oil on the hands...
Had all the same issues with this mouse. Good to know that I am not alone.
PSST: useless Mac BT chipset and antenna.
Never had this problem with any mouse or trackpad before
Yeah I was scared about the carpal tunnel syndrome too but it went away for me after a while (like 2.5 weeks)

Nice mice, but not for everyone like everything else in this world)
I still have mine for almost 3 months, and its white as snow. Maybe sweaty hands?

(if you are not gaming)
anyone find the mouse makes your hand pain after use? i just bought and tried for a while but i my hand feel not comfortable very soon
Bluetooth will always have more latency than 2.4 ghz when it comes to mice and keyboards. If you think it’s the other way around, you will be always disappointed.
Disagree. The scroll wheel is a game changer and I can't go back to a normal mouse since having used an MX Master 3.
I'll agree to disagree on this one. I like the sideways scroll wheel tho, pretty useful in premiere pro. Thanks for watching
Appreciate the honest review.
I just ordered this mouse yesterday. I'll look out for the negatives you mentioned, thanks.
Thank you soooo much for these words of warning !!!
@@hishamsaeed I'm quite happy with the Razer Pro Click. Even though I'm more on Linux than Mac, it seems to work well with the apple.
I have the same mouse and a 14" M1 Macbook pro and I don't have any of those issues. My only complaint is the scroll wheel. It's not smooth for some reason.
The word "mouse" and "productivity" shouldn't be in the same phrase

The lagging is from Mac. I have the same issue. But other issues, I never faced or bothered me. The scroll wheel works very well for me
I agree with everything: wrist pain, not comfortable. The scroll is horrible, and my hand was sweeting all the time. Had it for two days. I will try a gaming mouse maybe.

I think the intention is to go with the Magic Mouse. So I got one... and what a waste and what a headache. Since I have a Mac my anxiety increased by 200%
Current Setup: 1x Mac and 1x Windows.
I have this mouse in black… and use it on pc… I have to say… that the Mx master 3 is the best mouse I ever use… sure I don’t play games I use it for work…and I never have any issue with this mouse and the battery duration is something incredible I don’t know what kind of black magic uses Logitech but his batteries goes for more than a month without recharging… for me it’s the best mouse this one and the Logitech Mx vertical are the best mouse I ever have
agree with the scrolling inconsistency with the wheel, got used to it over time but was super annoying for long time
About that sensor tracking and vertical scroll thingg, i think it's related to OS thing....
Exactly. I wonder if her got the version for Mac or regular version.
@@PLANETWATERMELONis mentioned in one of the replies he got the windows version. Obviously because it comes with a dongle! But this is wrong.
I've got one of these and it works perfectly. No dongle either.
1. No onboard memory.
2. No place to put the USB dongle inside the mouse.
3. Need to use Logitech software to control DPI
4. NO DPI switch on mouse.
This is way overpriced for what it does.
Hi, I was very close to getting this mouse. But not sure after this video. What would you recommend is a better similar mouse?
Hello, honestly I don't really know, haven't tested many other bluetooth mice. Only ones with a dongle (which is annoying to have with a macbook).
The fun part is that a lot of this problems do not exist in the mx master 2
I have the MX Anywhere 3s and I think it has the same scroll wheel and Bluetooth tech and this is the best mouse I have ever used (other than when I'm gaming) I love the scroll wheel so much as it makes it super easy to scroll really really fast and far by just flicking it and this is the best Bluetooth I have ever used, there is no delay and it connects faster than I can set it down after turning the mouse on. I do use Windows though
Agreed. Maybe it's great for all these video editors on YT, but for me as a software engineer, it doesn't feel "productive"
kinda unfair to include the bluetooth issue since u said its probably your mac and works well on windows
You're right, but thought I'd mention it because I see a lot of people buying this for their mac (and so did I)
I have the MX Master 3, not 3S mouse but never had this issue on Windows 11. Not sure about the 3S though but good review.
Note that pretty much any software problems mentioned here only happen on Mac.
Yet I only encountered this issue just now by trying to replicate it and I have been daily driving logitech infinite scroll for 6 years now.
wait so did you return the white one and buy the black one (from your previous vids) or did you just buy both
Yep, returned the white one and got the black.
@@bogxd ohhhh
@@bogxd did the black one fix all the issues? Scrolling, lagging, etc?
So what is your mouse of choice to work with both, Windows and Mac?
The MX master 3s black lol
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🎮 The MX Master 3S mouse has a Bluetooth lag issue upon connecting, which can be resolved by restarting the Bluetooth module.

I am about to return this. This slow down my productivity,, wired mouse are fast.
you are exaggerating that I have a lower end logi Bluetooth mouse with m1 air and there isn't even a slight issue.
Yeah, mine works very well with windows too but I needed one that's Bluetooth for Mac. It's very annoying that Apple does this.
@@bogxd did the lag issues fix itself when you replaced it with the black MX Master 3s?
Same here. Did you find any other mouse that works well with Mac? I have tried logitech anywhere 3 as well. Same issues with mac.
I got two of these in black 2S and the 3 my favorite mices now programmed, to do what the trackpad can do. Hopefully add another button for more options on the next one…
Is the yellowing a common thing across white logitech products?
This is the first Logitech product I ever bought so idk. I would guess not because this mouse has a very specific rubbery texture which I doubt most of their other products have.
Yes on m1 macs this thing lags!!!!! The scroll wheel sucks. Maybe on a pc it's better, but on my m1 ultra Mac studio it is lame with Bluetooth and the dongle BOTH!
I was about to buy this. Thanks
Nothing beats the Apple Magic Mouse when it comes to scrolling :-)
God bless.
I would check with support if I was you about the scroll issues, I own 2 of these mice and I can't replicate it (I am on Windows and Linux so it might be that). Thanks for the honest video.
