Absolutely loved the reboot Jay, I wish we got maybe a sequel of that timeline but I'm fine without it. Only thing I was iffy about was all the the boob and sex scenes but it is still a high tier reboot in my book.
The Friday the 13th reboot was actually peak asf. The Friday franchise is extremely shallow and boring most of the time, but the remake takes all the elements we love about them and brings it all together in a great way. It’s got a comfortable breakneck pace, the Jason scenes are intercut with the main friend group enough to keep it entertaining, and Jason himself is fucking terrifying. The best he’s ever been, no disrespect to Kane Hodder.
The cinematography was amazing too! A good example is Jason (being an absolute unit I might add) easily murders the cop with a fire poker to the eye and the force of the stab was powerful enough to penetrate clean through the door! That shot was awesome!!!
I think horror remakes are super hit or miss. You have Nightmare on Elm Street, but then you also have Fright Night(2011), Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2007), and Friday the 13th(2010); all of which felt new but also honored their source material.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2006 was not really a good movie, TCM 2003 was tho, and I agree with you on StageFright, glad someone watched it, I don’t even know if I can call it a remake, it is entirely and I mean entirely different from the 1987 film
Him: Horror Reboots never work. The Thing 1982, The Fly 1986, The Blob 1988, Friday The 13th 2009, Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978, Child's Play 2019, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003, Suspiria 2018, It 2017: "Allow us to introduce ourselves"
Child's Play 2019 was interesting and I'd say it's ten times scarier than the original. Chucky is played by Mark Hamill and that's already crazy enough, but the KILLS. THE KILLS 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Personally, I really liked 2009 Friday the 13th. Best Jason we had in a while, he was an absolute unit, scary, new takes that worked, and a few likable protagonists
If I remember correctly they had to change things for the Child’s Play reboot. Something about the studio owning the rights to the title and certain elements and the director owning the characters and other stuff. Also didn’t help that the director was working on the tv show at the same time they were planning the movie.
Hey WRMZ, if you're going to continue talking about horror films going into October then you need to collab with DerekFDB. He also talks about horror films, comics, and pretty much everything that you already do. I think if you two collaborated on a horror video for next month, it'd be great.
Dude such a class TH-camr. If I could even make half as decent content as u one day I’d be happy. Well done. 4th video of yours I’ve binged now subscribing
I think Hamill was better than Brad Dourif (Post Curse of Chucky), I hate to say it but Brad Dourif sounds tired and not to mention the franchise got too goofy, moreso than Seed Of Chucky.
This is a big proof that the 80s was a great, even gangster movie Scarface is a remake of a 30s movie with the same name, if we asked anyone about Scarface so for sure that everyone is going to mention the 80s version and most of them not know that it is a remake.
I believe the only reason the Child’s Play reboot even got made was for the studio to keep the rights to the original 1988 film. I don’t think they ever planned on continuing the rebooted franchise, considering the original movie series was/is continuing its story via the TV series.
I like Friday the 13th remake because it's more of an reimagining of the first 3 movies in one and it's genuinely a fun film i like it especially Jason 2009 Jason genuinely scares me
Out the latest Halloween remakes since I’m a femboy for Michael (not really) Rob Zombie’s is Ight but the best is Halloween (2018) I’m telling you, RZ’s Halloween is just all gore in my mind but Michael Is UNSTOPPABLE & actually has a decent story than 78’.
A reboot/remake I personally want to banish to the back side of my memory is My Bloody Valentine 3D. Nothing about the movie is good, the CG for the “3D” kills are horrible, all the characters suck and the plot twist makes no sense on who the killer is. Sure, the original MBV had a weird plot twist on who the killer was, but it had amazing practical effects for the kills, the characters were all well written and it’s the only good Valentine’s Day horror movie
The only reason Child’s Play even got a remake is cause MGM saw a chance to make money off the rising of the grave of the Chucky series that Don Mancini had worked really hard on and even was in development of the show at the time. The worst part is that he couldn’t even go through with the series unless that remake failed because Universal or whoever decided it didn’t want two Chucky franchises going at once, that it could “confuse” the consumer, give or take. I believe he was even offered like an executive producer or just a producer credit but since they wouldn’t let him actually do anything, aka write it or overlook it since Chucky is his creation and he’s been with the franchise the entire time, he obviously said no and was very upset about it. So glad it failed cause the Chucky series is pretty great, hopefully it gets renewed for a fourth season soon. Also there’s just a lot of things that make no sense in the movie if you think about it more then a second
Rob Zombie said the aspect of a psycho is always about “nature vs nurture”, so given Michael was evil by nature in the original, he wanted to change that aspect to be his evil being by nurture. Whether we agree it is good or not is another thing
Rob Zombie loves Grindhouse and Exploitation movies, and Halloween just didn’t suit that style, I liked the RZ Halloween movies for what they were though. The TCM franchise would’ve been perfect for Rob Zombie though, as his own movies were heavily influenced by Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Dawn of the Dead (2004), one of my favorite remakes, I prefer it to the original, I think it deserves more credit, even if you prefer the original, you gotta admit, the zombies were far better in the remake. I can't buy anyone being scared of the zombies in Dawn of the Dead (1978), even Tom Savini said they looked bad.
I feel like out of the reboots and remakes of the horror movie that had come out, Friday the 13th reboot remains the best imo, it highlights the best parts of the original films while making abit more realistic, like making Jason a survivalist rather than a friggin zombie. Not to mention, Jason is the most terrifying in the reboot in the entire franchise as he actually sprints, uses arrows, able to throw axes, set up traps etc etc.
Hey You’re able to recreate this video with 3 good remakes, as you said evil dead, but other 2 are The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reboot and Friday the 13th Reboot
Reboots fail the majority of the time in general, I mean... HAVE YOU SEEN THE BEN 10 REBOOT?! But they can work if done right. I mean... I absolutely LOVED the Halloween 2018 requel.
The Nightmare on Elm Street remake isn’t forgotten, we choose to pretend it doesn’t exist. They only added like two things to the story that could’ve actually been cool to explore and stuff, but no they chose every bad decision with this movie that led to people pretending it doesn’t exist, I only wish to be able to take back the time I used to watch it because I’ll never watch it again
Currently I’ve been working on a fanmade story based on the film gremlins (1984), set in modern day it would be about a teenager trying to find the perfect give for their young cousin and finding gizmo. The characters then learn the rules and need to stop the gremlins from destroying the town before Christmas Day. How does that sound?
This is so inaccurate there are some good horror remakes like Texas chainsaw massacre (2003) way better than the boring ass original that I did not understand at all Halloween (2007) Friday the 13th (2009) but so far every other horror remake sucks.
The Thing (1982) The Blob (1988) The Fly (1986) Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978) The Ring (2002) Dawn Of The Dead (2004) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) All of them would like to have a word with you
I thought the 2010 Nightmare remake wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. Is it as good as the original?, well fuck no, but it didn’t need to be. I liked the darker tone of Freddy in the remake, as while Robert Englund was fantastic as Freddy, my only problem was he was too charismatic to play a Sadistic Killer. So Jackie Earle Haley I thought was better for that darker tone. And by the way there are 3 movies in the franchise that are much much worse than the 2010 Remake, in Freddy’s Revenge, The Dream Child, and Freddy’s Dead, those 3 are the worst of the franchise.
6:45 actually wrong. Aside from Tina (the bed kill) and Freddy, there were 3 new kills that the original never did (the diner kill, the chest bursting and the finger knives through the head.
Jason Voorhees rebooted back to Camp Crystal Lake just so he could have the ability to run, my main man Jason is built different.
That's why he's one of the better slasher remakes, kinda.
OG Jason's lore was just all over the place even tho it was fun with some of the movies.
Absolutely loved the reboot Jay, I wish we got maybe a sequel of that timeline but I'm fine without it. Only thing I was iffy about was all the the boob and sex scenes but it is still a high tier reboot in my book.
Yeah I know I’m built different
Tbf that’s the one thing that’s been keeping him from becoming an Avenger level threat
The Friday the 13th reboot was actually peak asf. Exactly. I'd honestly say its one of the better films in the franchise.

That shot was awesome!!!
The kill where he had shawty being roasted alive in the sleeping bag was crazy
i agree, i thought im the only one who likes this movie xD
The only survivors of the horror reboots of the 80s is Michael Meyers and Chucky, Jason and Freddy haven’t been seen after the remakes
To be fair with Jason its because of legal stuff.
Yeah
The Ring? The Thing? Dawn of the Dead? Evil Dead? Let Me In? The Hills Have Eyes? Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003? The Fly? Never Work?
The blob the fly and it
Ass.
The Thing 1982 is a remake and it’s amazing.
I think these films are the exception but most remakes are rated poorly.
Invasion with the body snatchers
I think horror remakes are super hit or miss. You have Nightmare on Elm Street, but then you also have Fright Night(2011), Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2007), and Friday the 13th(2010); all of which felt new but also honored their source material.

feel like Pennywise is a good remake.

The Evil Dead remake I enjoyed too!
W vid and thanks for infro on the crow movie cause I definitely was about watch it 😭
The “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake could have been (at the very least) interesting, if they followed through with making Freddy Krueger innocent
I actually liked the Child's Play remake for the most part, particularly Mark Hamill's voice performance as Chucky
Same honestly
So did i@@pizzacat3822
Same it’s pretty underrated
I think Hamill was better than Brad Dourif (Post Curse of Chucky), I hate to say it but Brad Dourif sounds tired and not to mention the franchise got too goofy, moreso than Seed Of Chucky.
@@ActivistBatonVI the guy's been doing it since the beginning, and it's the only thing anyone knows him for anymore. Can't blame him for being tired
A good reboot that happened was the V/H/S reboot trilogy, forgot the exact titles but it was the ones with years in the titles.
Evil dead reboot I thought was actually pretty good
The Fly, The Thing, and Little Shop of Horrors are all great horror remakes

my goat is back
Shame about Nigthmare On Elm Street 2010.
Jackie was a great choice for Freddy. A more serious, scarrier, less jokey Freddy.
Invasion of the body snatchers (79) , friday the 13 (2009), and evil dead are all great.

“IT” was fire tho
Ahem: glen, glenda, glen/glenda, Kyle, Tiffany, Jake, Jennifer Tilly, Andy’s mom, ceo of playtime , and more.
Halloween & Child’s Play & Friday The 13th all had to become television series after their latest reboots!
Friday the 13th is only being rebooted as a tv series because the film rights to Jason are a mess.
This is the reason why I like the v/h/s franchise
A reboot/remake I personally want to banish to the back side of my memory is My Bloody Valentine 3D.
