My problem with Dune is that nobody resembles a human being. They’re just empty vessels that say things to move the plot along. Mamoa was the only character that resembles an actual person.
That’s more a product of the book than anything else. The characters aren’t exactly masterpieces in the book. It was about the ideas, world, and themes over the characters. Now, I won’t say that flat characters aren’t a criticism, but you need to consider that the book was written back in the 60s.
It's one of those movies where it's fun scene by scene, but there's no overall cohesion. It's the exact kind of movie I would throw on in the background while playing a board game with a group of people, because you have something to watch while you're waiting for your turn.

I definitely agree on your opinion of Joker and Avatar. I absolute hate them making Joker sympathetic, and so I will not watch it. Not to mention I believe I heard it wasn't even originally a Joker movie, but the only way for the writer to get it made was to make it a Joker movie, which is why it doesn't feel like the Joker. Joker one is accurate. Dune is good probably because I was high in theaters, but I can see why people don’t like it because seeing it boring is completely understandable. Nah, Avatar is not overrated. It just planes sucks. It is a on the nose depiction of native Americans being so amazing and that European colonizers were all cartoonishly evil. Which is a ton deaf understanding of real history. Excluding the political activism it is simply a tech demo for vfx with a extremely bland narrative. It really just used very good vfx to be "an experience" but I don't know about you but movies are about stories not pretty visuals like I am a 2 year old watching Cocomelon.

Yeah, I couldn’t even get through the first 15 minutes of the Joker movie, and it just felt like a meme that got a movie. Didn’t even try with Dune. I just didn’t feel like sitting through a long movie about political drama that would probably be better off as a show like GOT, and then Avatar was ok because…explosions, I guess 💀

I definitely agree on your opinion of Joker and Avatar.
I absolute hate them making Joker sympathetic, and so I will not watch it. Not to mention I believe I heard it wasn't even originally a Joker movie, but the only way for the writer to get it made was to make it a Joker movie, which is why it doesn't feel like the Joker.
Avatar is so crap, like I rewatched it recently and it sucked. Just a super boring and dumb plot with nothing interesting other than visuals. And as someone who honestly doesn't care about visuals and only sees them as bonuses to good media, that means that for me I just totally dislike the movie.
As for Dune, it's definitely an acquired taste. It's a political type movie, and I only understood it thanks to my dad reading the books and explaining it. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, and can totally understand not finishing it

I like venom 1 sure he was anti hero, but make me understand character a bit more, people forget that villains are not that flesh out within their movies with superheroes.
Ngl, sounds like u got ur attention span fried… yeah mine is short too. And although I still like dune and joker, I prefer quicker paced movies. But they justify being slow burns. And I prefer how Joker was already mentally unstable instead of being a normal dude in some of his origin stories. And strangely dune works better if u watch both in one sitting cuz dune part 1 is mostly set up. However I still don’t get how u can watch over 1000 eps that some have said straight up stretched out a few pages into entire episodes but not these ones. And I’ve read a book that was almost 1200 pages long and I still am intimidated by over 1000 eps and half of them I heard were bad or mid or the cool stuff was just spoiled and now I’m not curious anymore. Shiii I might have to just wait for the reboot to come out cuz it’s supposed to be an abridged version

Joker one is accurate. Dune is good probably because I was high in theaters, but I can see why people don’t like it because seeing it boring is completely understandable. Before watching it that was my expectation about it, some goofy, indie, wannabe special, BORING ass movie but I ended up enjoying it.
In my humble opinion the shining is overrated nothing happens in the movie the plot feels non existent it’s not scary, like I deadass almost fell asleep while watching the shining and I think why people love the shining Is because of here’s Johnny and that’s it

Nah, Avatar is not overrated. It just planes sucks. It is a on the nose depiction of native Americans being so amazing and that European colonizers were all cartoonishly evil. Which is a ton deaf understanding of real history. Excluding the political activism it is simply a tech demo for vfx with a extremely bland narrative. It really just used very good vfx to be "an experience" but I don't know about you but movies are about stories not pretty visuals like I am a 2 year old watching Cocomelon.
It's not bad but, he doesn't really feel like the Joker he feels like a different character. I will say tho I think a villain could be a protagonist of a movie, two-face could work, I hear Gotham is good but that's not a movie just a show more focused on the villains
It happens man but if you dont like it that doesn't mean the movie was overrated for example I fell asleep on lord of the rings, blade runner 1 and black panther but I understand the people that love it and respect them. My favorite movies are Jurassic park, Ghost in the shell 1995, Big lebowsky etc. But I gotta agree avatar and dune part 1 are overrated as hell and so is endgame goddammit.
